If you miss how much Hornet used to scream and shout, there’s a Hollow Knight: Silksong mod you’ll shaw-ly want to pick up

by admin September 27, 2025

Have you, like me, been unable to get that one TikTok sound out of your head that mixes Anri’s iconic anthem I Can’t Stop The Loneliness with the screams of Hollow Knight’s very own Hornet ever since Silksong came out? It’s a surprisingly good combo, but it also serves as an unintended reminder for something: these particular screams of Hornet’s are nowhere to be found in Silksong. You know, the classics, like “SHAW,” and “Adino!” not to mention the unforgettable “Hegale!” So of course there’s a mod for that.

For whatever reason, Team Cherry decided to opt for Hornet taking a quieter approach to her attacks and special abilities compared to the boss version of her you fight against in the original Hollow Knight. I can only assume that’s because spending upwards of 20 hours getting to just the default ending of the game would surely result in “SHAW” getting a bit grating for some people. That doesn’t mean folks haven’t been missing these sounds though, and coming in to save the day is modder Nai, who made a mod simply titled “HK Hornet Voice Restored.”

As you can probably guess, this mod replaces the sounds she makes using her silks skills with the sounds she emits in Hollow Knight as a boss (thanks, GamesRadar). It’s obviously quite a simple mod, though I am quite charmed by it. Sometimes sequels receive such tiny, most inconsequential changes that actually mean a lot or stick out to the people that played the original, so it’s always fun to see how people adapt to them.

And then sometimes people just want to be horny about the bug girl. Go figure!

Dying Light: The Beast gets a release date bump so short you’ll wonder why they bothered

by admin September 14, 2025

Whenever there is word of a video game’s release date being changed, it’s hardly ever surprising because nine times out of ten, it’s because it has been delayed. That’s just the way things are these days, no one can have the luxury of Team Cherry, who took so long making Silksong just because they were having fun. However, in this case, the release date shifting news is actually a positive one, as Dying Light: The Beast will be launching just that little bit earlier.

By little bit, I truly do mean only a tiny amount. The game was originally slated for release on September 19th, and now it’s coming out… September 18th! I do genuinely wonder how such a miniscule change will make any difference to Techland’s bottom line, but I’m no accountant, or, I don’t know, money line go up predictor, whatever that particular job might be called.

In a press release, Dying Light franchise director Tymon Smektała said that because they know the game is ready, they wanted to “do something special for our players,” so they pushed themselves to “make the impossible possible,” which translates to one day less that everyone has to wait for it. Feels like a slightly hyperbolic way to present such a tiny release date bump, but I suppose it is always nice to see this as opposed to yet another delay.

Also, as another form of thanks to those who have or will pre-order the game, some kind of “exclusive new reward” will be in store for them. Can’t tell you what that is, not because it’s a secret, but because proper details will be coming during launch week, i.e. next week.

Our own Edwin got to have a little jaunt through the upcoming open world game earlier this year which he described as “on the whole, quite jolly.”

All the Dyson Hair Tools You’ll Ever Need (2025)

by admin September 9, 2025

We test each tool on a range of hair types, lengths, and textures, including fine, curly, and color-treated hair. Our testers live in varied climates and span different routines, so we see how these tools perform in different environments.

We time how long it takes to dry freshly washed hair of different thicknesses and lengths. We pay attention to heat distribution and airflow strength across settings, and we note how comfortable the tool feels during styling sessions. Weight, cord length, and dual-voltage compatibility are also factors we consider.

We test every attachment as it’s intended, and we judge ease of use, durability, and styling results.

Beyond our initial two-week testing period, we continue using each tool for several months. This lets us track motor wear, filter maintenance needs, and any overall performance loss.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Has A “Cheat Code” That You’ll Probably Want To Avoid Using

by admin September 9, 2025

Hollow Knight: Silksong is finally here, and players agree that the game kicks ass–mostly their own. Team Cherry’s metroidvania is a challenging adventure, but if you’re feeling masochistic, you can dial up the difficulty further with a “cheat” code that references (but is different than) the infamous Konami code. Simply head to the “Extras” section of the main menu and enter this sequence on the D-pad to unlock Steel Soul Mode:

Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right.

So what does Steel Soul Mode do? Once you start a new game, you’ve only got a single life with which to complete the game. No respawns or reloading saves: just a failed run if you fall. Veteran Hollow Knight players might recognize the mode as well, as it was in the first game and it was unlocked after the campaign was beaten for the first time.

If you are struggling right now, there is some good news as Silksong’s first patch will offer a “slight difficulty reduction” to the early bosses–Moorwing and Sister Splinter–when it goes live next week. PC players can also tweak the overall difficulty with several mods that have been released, and if you’re looking for walkthroughs, you can check out GameSpot’s Hollow Knight: Silksong guides hub for several helpful features.

After years of waiting, it looks like Silksong has been a massive hit right out of the gate. The game has reportedly passed 5 million players already and it’s one of the most popular games on Steam currently.

Overwatch 2 will allow KBM on console, but you’ll be up against PC players

by admin August 24, 2025

Overwatch 2 console players will officially be able to use a keyboard and mouse starting with the release of Season 18. In patch notes posted ahead of the new season, the Overwatch 2 team says matchmaking pools will be tweaked slightly so players are sorted into a Mouse and Keyboard Pool and a Controller Pool. Those playing on a console using keyboard and mouse (KBM) inputs will be paired with PC players and other KBM console players, while the Controller Pool will be reserved only for console players using a controller. Season 18 arrives on August 26.

For players who switch to the Mouse and Keyboard Pool, “your internal MMR, skill ratings and ranks for all game modes will be separate from your statistics in the Controller Pool,” according to the patch notes. This group won’t have access to aim assist, as has been the case and will continue to be for PC players using a controller. KBM players will have to accept the prompt to switch to that pool in order to play, or manually switch in the Gameplay Options menu.

This sucks: you’ll have to pay for two clans in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

by admin August 20, 2025

As Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 finally gets a release date it looks like it will hit – 21st October 2025 – so comes news you’ll have to pay to access two of the six clans in the game. Clans here act like your character class, determining what kind of gameplay role your character will adopt, as well as giving you a sense of storied belonging in the world, so they’re no trivial thing. And they’re not cheap.

In order to access the Lasombra and Toreador clans, you’ll need to buy the Shadows and Silk add-on pack, which costs £18.69/€21.99/$21.99. And as far as I can tell, you won’t be able to access these locked clans otherwise. If you don’t pay, you’ll only be able to access the default four: Brujah, Tremere, Banu Haqim and Ventrue.

There’s a further gameplay consideration here. Clans modify the difficulty of the game by making you better or worse at certain things. In the preview build of Bloodlines 2 I’ve just been playing, I picked to be Brujah, which are a brawler-focused group. They are a normal difficulty clan to play as, whereas Ventrue – a clan that dominates minds – are easier, and the Banu Haqim, which revolve around stealthy ambush gameplay, are hard. There’s more detail on the various clans on the Bloodlines 2 website, but there’s not, frustratingly, any more information on Toreador or Lasombra.

However, Vampire: The Masquerade being a long-standing tabletop role-playing game means there’s plenty of available information out there about these locked clans. The Lasombra clan is a shadowy organisation that manipulates through religion, apparently, whereas the Toreador are known for being seductive and enthralling, which is exactly the kind of vampire I’d like to be. It’s a shame to have to pay for the privilege.

The Shadows and Silk add-on pack comes as part of the Premium Edition of the game, if you’re willing to fork out £74.99/€89.99/$89.99 for it. It also contains the cosmetic Santa Monica Memories pack. But at the moment I suggest you wait. And I say that because I remain unconvinced after a few hours of play.

This game has had a troubled development and it seems to me that in an effort to get it out, the developer has narrowed the scope and focused more on action gameplay rather than an intricate role-playing experience. That’s not necessarily a bad thing – there’s a terrific sense of speed and punch in what I played – but it does lack substance. I would wait for 21st October and see.
