2025 Most ‘Dangerous’ Year for Crypto Holders, Here’s Why

According to a recent chart prepared by cryptocurrency firm Galaxy Digital, 2025 is on track to be the most dangerous year for cryptocurrency holders to date.

The chart shared by research analyst Alex Thorn shows that this year is already nearing the full-year totals of some previous years, like 2023, and even approaching 2018.

If the current rate continues, 2025 is extremely likely to overtake 2021, thus becoming the most dangerous year to date. This year, of course, is not even halfway done.

There have been more than 25 documented physical attacks against cryptocurrency owners this year.

Countries like the UAE and India have seen a noticeable uptick in reported extortions.

As reported by U.Today, Satoshi collaborator Martti ‘Sirius’ Malmi recently suggested the idea of creating the so-called “Bitcoin Mossad” in order to protect long-term holders by going after criminals.

The most high-profile criminal case involved the kidnapping of David Balland, co-founder of cryptocurrency wallet firm Ledger. The French entrepreneur was abducted from his home together with his wife in January before being rescued by authorities.

Another prominent case involved a failed kidnapping of the daughter of another well-known cryptocurrency entrepreneur from France.

French authorities have now stepped up protection for crypto entrepreneurs in light of the recent incidents that attracted widespread media coverage.

Meanwhile, some companies are now offering tailored insurance policies for cryptocurrency entrepreneurs.

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is a “brutal” RTS launching next year

If there’s still some lingering enthusiasm for HBO’s Game of Thrones in your bones, you’re in luck. The original TV show is getting yet another video game adaptation, this time in the form of Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, a real-time strategy game that’s out next year.

Annouced during this year’s Summer Game Fest showcase, Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is the work of developer PlaySide and promises “ruthless free-for-all battles where trust is fleeting and power is everything”.

“Command the Great Houses in epic real-time strategy battles,” explains its newly revealed Steam page, “forge strategic alliances, or weave deceit against your rivals.” And that begins by picking your preferred faction, whether it be House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen, or even the Night King’s army of the dead. Each promises asymmetric strategies, alongside their own signature units and mechanics, that’ll need to be deployed wisely as War for Westeros’ real-time battles play out across a range of iconic locations.

“Deploy infantry, cavalry, siege engines, giants, and dragons to break enemy lines,” PlaySide continues. “Outplay your rivals with smart manoeuvring, inspiring hero abilities, and the ruthless instinct of a true war commander.”

Solo and multiplayer modes are also promised, and you can expect more details ahead of Game of Thrones: War for Westeros’ launch on Steam sometime next year.

Street Fighter 6 Year 3 Character Pass: Characters, release windows & more

Street Fighter 6’s Season 3 character pass got revealed all at once during Summer Game Fest 2025, with all four characters that’ll be added over the next year being made public.

It’s a mix of fan-favorite characters from several past Street Fighter games. No guest characters this time around, Season 3 will be made up entirely of O.G. fighters, one of which hasn’t been seen in the series for literal decades and is older than some pro players.

Here’s every new character in Street Fighter 6’s Season 3’s fighter pass as well as their official release windows.

Street Fighter 6’s Year 3 Character Pass is a huge throwback

Revealed via a series of Kenny Omega cosplays, Fighter Pass 3 includes the following characters: Ingrid, Sagat, C. Viper, and Alex.

Here are their release dates in order:

Sagat: Summer 2025
C. Viper: Autumn 2025
Alex: Early Spring 2026
Ingrid: Late Spring 2026

While Alex and Sagat were both in Street Fighter 5, the other two characters haven’t been present in the series for a long time.

C. Viper’s last appearance was in Street Fighter 4, a game that was originally released in 2007, and Ingrid was a boss character in Street Fighter 3 Alpha 3 MAX, a game from 1998. She hasn’t been present in the series since and was originally ripped from a cancelled Capcom All Stars title. Hopefully Ingrid isn’t a boss-level character in this entry like she was in her last appearance.

It’s worth mentioning that Capcom’s definition of how long the year’s seasons are has historically dragged on, with Elena’s release in June still being technically Spring. So, these dates are by no means set in stone and may be later than you expect.

And, though Street Fighter 6 is one of Capcom’s most successful games ever, it isn’t yet clear if they’ll be going for a fourth Season of content after this. Street Fighter 5’s cast was massive, so it’d take literal years to get every character from that game converted over.

Hopium turns into reality: Arc Raiders will be arriving in October this year

As part of today’s Summer Game Fest kick-off show, what many Arc Raiders players and fans hoped would happen did, in fact, take place. Ever since the end of the second Tech Test in early May, many of those who took part never wanted to stop playing.

In fact, considering how polished the game already was, even at that early stage, some outright called for it to be officially released. Today, fans didn’t receive exactly that, but they did receive a release date for the shooter.

While many were holding out hope for another beta test in the imminent future, it looks as though fans will need to wait a little longer to dive back into Arc Raiders. The latter is especially true for the millions who simply couldn’t get into Tech Test 2, and spent those days instead watching and reading content from those playing, which no doubt didn’t make things any easier.

Well, everyone can celebrate today, because Embark just announced that Arc Raiders will release on October 30, 2025 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. This looks to be an updated build that expands on Tech Test 2, but we’ll have to spend some time with it to see how much has changed.

Not that the game needed much work, as Arc Raiders already has a strong character, solid gameplay loop, and a vibe that takes me back to the golden era of classic PUBG.

Arc Raiders developer Embark seems to have a good relationship with Geoff Keighley. The extraction shooter was initially announced at The Game Awards in 2021, when it was still a co-op shooter, and before it turned into the game it is today.

The Finals, the studio’s first game, shadow-dropped in December 2023 at that year’s Game Awards, so you can bet everyone was bracing for some Arc Raiders news at this summer’s Summer Game Fest.

Resident Evil 9 is real, arriving next year, and it’s looking like it’ll be amping up the horror once more

The impending announcement of Resident Evil 9 has been sort of hovering around for what felt like months. Insiders have been claiming for a while that we were about to see it at this or that show, but it somehow never materialised – and it looks like today’s the day that’s finally changed.

During today’s Summer Game Fest kick-off showcase, Capcom delivered a brief message about the upcoming sequel in the legendary horror series. In a short video, Jun Takeuchi thanked fans for their support of the Resident Evil series and stated that there’ll be more news soon, when the developer is ready. This lead most to believe that we wouldn’t be seeing Resident Evil 9 today, but as the show closed, everyone was surprised.

A horrifying brief trailer, Resident Evil 9 is being dubbed Resident Evil Requiem, and looks to be inviting players into a much scarier experience – akin to Resident Evil Biohazard – this time around. The better news? It’ll be playable as of February 27, 2026.

The game has actually been teased by Capcom in recent videos from the publisher, such as the one published to celebrate Resident Evil 4 selling 10 million copies. It was so subtle, however, you may not have spotted it.

Resident Evil 9 is being said to represent a big step forward for the series, though maybe not quite to the degree earlier reports have made it out to be; time will only tell. There’s obviously plenty we still do not know, including how much of the final game will resemble those leaks. Either way, Capcom have been doing this a while now, and it’ll no doubt be the survival horror-action romp all Resi fans have been waiting for.

As it’s often the case, however, more will certainly be revealed between now Resident Evil 9’s launch next year. The game is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Black Myth: Wukong Hits Xbox Series X/S This August, Exactly One Year After PS5 Release

Developer and publisher Game Science has announced that its action-RPG based on Journey to the West, Black Myth: Wukong, will finally come to Xbox later this year. More specifically, it will launch on Xbox Series X/S on August 20, curiously exactly one year after the PlayStation 5 release of the game. This is curious because last year, Game Science denied a year-long exclusivity deal when fans questioned why Wukong was skipping Xbox on its initial release.

Nonetheless, Wukong will finally hit Xbox this summer. According to Game Science, preorders for it open on June 18, 2025, the same day the game is getting its first-ever discount. The discount will be 20%, bringing the Standard Edition to $47.99 and the Deluxe Edition to $55.99 here in the U.S.

Wukong hit PS5 and PC on August 20 of last year, and in December, it received its first free DLC, which added a new combat challenge to the game. Wukong surpassed 10 million copies sold in just three days, and set a record for the highest concurrent player peak for a single-player game on Steam at the time.

Lenovo Legion Go Handheld PC Drops To Best Price Of The Year At Amazon

If you’ve been considering picking up a handheld gaming PC, you should check out Amazon’s deal on the Lenovo Legion Go. The Legion Go is up for grabs for only $500, which is the best price of 2025. Lenovo’s Windows 11-based portable has a spacious 8.8-inch display, a fairly powerful mobile chipset that is more than capable of handling many modern games, and some unique features that make it one of the most versatile Windows handhelds around. It’s unclear how long Amazon’s deal will be available, so check it out while you can.

The Lenovo Legion Go is equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, Radeon 700M Series GPU, 16GB of RAM, 512GB SSD, and an 8.8-inch WQXGA display with 2560 x 1600 resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. The 1600p resolution is a bit overkill for a portable PC, but the screen is impressive–even when you dial back the resolution to boost other settings and/or preserve battery life.

Similar to the Nintendo Switch, it has detachable controllers and a kickstand for tabletop mode. Each of the detachable controllers has a pair of back buttons, and there’s also a mouse scroll wheel. The right controller has a trackpad and can be used as a vertical mouse with the included stand.

The Legion Go’s battery life isn’t great, as it only lasts upwards of a few hours on a full charge. Granted, handheld Windows PCs tend to lose their charge quickly in general. Though not ideal, the Legion Go does have a rapid charging feature that allows you to refuel roughly 70% of battery life in around 30 minutes.

It has a pair of USB-C 4.0 ports, a microSD card slot as expandable storage, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Lenovo’s proprietary Legion Space software serves as a console-like hub for your games from each launcher.

Overall, the Legion Go is a well-rounded device–and if you’re looking for a handheld with Windows that offers broader access to PC games than Steam Deck, it’s certainly worth a look–especially if you really want a larger screen.

We’d recommend grabbing a USB-C dock, as you’ll likely want to connect the Legion Go to a monitor with a traditional mouse/keyboard setup for general computing and setup tasks. If you want the official Lenovo option, the Legion Go USB-C Hub Dock is available for $65 at Amazon. Solid third-party docking stations are available for lower prices, though. For instance, you can get this iVanky 8-in-1 Docking Station for only $30 (was $40) at the moment. JSAUX’s 6-in-1 Docking Station is also a popular choice for $32 (was $40).

Legion Go vs. Legion Go S (Windows Edition)?

If you’ve followed Lenovo’s handheld PC releases, you’ve probably heard of the Legion Go S, Lenovo’s newer, slimmer take on the a Windows PC. There has been some confusion around the Legion Go S, mainly because some people thought the “S” stood for SteamOS. And while it’s true that Lenovo debuted the SteamOS version of the Legion Go S with SteamOS last month, the new design was initially introduced in February with a Windows model for $730.

The Windows edition of the Legion Go S received mixed reviews from critics, and it has middling customer reviews at Best Buy. It does have better battery life and is more travel-friendly than Lenovo’s original handheld, which makes it the better choice for those who are truly buying it for travel. That said, SteamOS is much friendlier in this regard, so it’d make sense to consider the $600 model that runs Valve’s handheld operating system.

Outside of the portability angle, the original Legion Go, which debuted back in late 2023 to positive critic and customer reviews, is a more powerful and versatile device.

The Legion Go several unique features that this year’s Legion Go S lacks, including detachable controllers and a kickstand for tabletop play (like the Switch) and the ability to use the right controller as a vertically oriented mouse for FPS titles, arcade games, and more. It also has a higher-resolution, larger display and the Z1 Extreme offers better overall performance than the Z2 Go chipset in the newer Legion Go S.

When sold at full price, the Legion Go and Legion Go S with Windows are separated by only $30. With prices that close, there’s room for debate. But right now, when there’s a $230 gulf between them, the Legion Go simply offers significantly better value.

Stray Children, the oddball RPG from the devs behind cult classic Moon, is coming to PC in English later this year

Back in 2023, Nintendo held one of those Direct thingies it likes to do, and as it often does the Japanese version of the stream had some games the western one didn’t. In particular, there was one game that drew my attention: Stray Children. It caught my eye in part because it has a really unique pixel art look to it, but also because Yoshiro Kimura was its director, one of the original designers of cult-classic Moon: Remix RPG Adventure. And now, after a bit of a wait, developer Onion Games have confirmed it’s getting its English release later this year, and it’ll even be doing so on PC.

If you haven’t heard of Stray Children before, here’s the lowdown of the oddball game: you play as a young, dog-like boy who gets whisked away to another world through a strange old console. In this new land, its inhabitants are all children, a wall set up around them keeping out The Olders, “monstrous adults, carrying the heavy load of their own inadequacies, self-doubt, and all of the grievances that grown-ups gather.”

Much like Moon before it, it’s not a typical RPG adventure. Battles take place in small arenas with enemies sending out occasionally bullet-hell like attacks for you to dodge. You can either fight these messed up adults literally, or figuratively with your words, all of this adding up to something definitely reminiscent of Undertale, which is a bit ironic given how much of an influence Moon was on that game.

Stray Children actually released in Japan last year, but only on Nintendo Switch, and an English localisation was promised right from its announcement. The bad news is that there’s still no exact date in place just yet. It’ll arrive sometime in 2025, at least, and we’re basically halfway through the year already. No, you’re having a crisis about the passage of time, bog off, go and wishlist Stray Children on Steam or something.

Corporate Bitcoin Holdings Top 800K BTC After More Than Doubling in a Year

has taken deeper root in corporate treasuries, with 116 public companies now holding a combined 809,100 BTC, worth around $85 billion based on current prices, at the end of May.

That’s a dramatic rise from 312,200 BTC held a year ago in corporate treasuries, according to Binance Research’s latest report. Nearly 100,000 BTC has been added since early April alone.

The surge appears driven by a mix of rising prices and structural tailwinds. Donald Trump adopted a pro-crypto stance during his 2024 presidential campaign, vowing to make the U.S. a global hub for the asset class and create a “crypto capital of the planet.”

Since Trump took office he has moved to establish a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile, while the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has dropped numerous lawsuits against major crypto firms..

Binance’s report shows that bitcoin treasury accumulation grew in November, when Trump won the election.

Adding to that, new fair-value accounting rules introduced by the Financial Account Standards Board (FASB) this year allow companies to recognize gains on BTC holdings, removing a longstanding deterrent.

Newer entrants including GameStop (GME) and PSG have recently started accumulating BTC as a well, yet Strategy still holds the lion’s share of BTC in corporate treasuries, with over 70% of holdings.

Some companies are also tiptoeing into other assets. SharpLink holds $425 million in ETH, while DeFi Development and Classover are betting on solana

. China-based firm Webus recently filed for a $300 million strategic reserve.

Still, these altcoin holdings remain relatively small and are often tied to firms trying to rebrand as token-forward entities, Binance noted.

Binance’s report also flagged the rapid rise of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), which have climbed more than 260% from $8.6 billion to $23 billion this year.
