John Deaton claims XRP army helped win Ripple case

by admin September 4, 2025

John Deaton, the lawyer deeply involved in the Ripple case against the SEC, shares new insights into the case.

Summary

  • John Deaton shared new details from Ripple’s battle with the SEC
  • He argued about the difference that the volunteers in the XRP community made
  • Ripple’s VP Deborah McCrimmon admitted that volunteers saved the company millions

The XRP community may have made a significant difference in the Securities and Exchange Commission lawsuit against Ripple. On Wednesday, Sept. 3, John Deaton, a lawyer who became a voice for XRP holders during the case, revealed just how impactful the community was.

“No credible person can argue that the XRP Army didn’t make a difference in the Ripple case. If they do they’re either ignorant to the facts and truth or intentionally lying,” John Deaton said.

Deaton stated that there was “conclusive evidence” of the community’s impact, both during the trial and in the ruling. Specifically, the judge cited his amicus brief and affidavits from several XRP holders in her ruling that XRP was not a security when traded on secondary markets.

No credible person can argue that the XRP Army didn’t make a difference in the Ripple case. If they do they’re either ignorant to the facts and truth or intentionally lying. We have conclusive evidence that we made a difference. There were over 2K exhibits filed in the case. In… https://t.co/WK2MfOb6wS

— John E Deaton (@JohnEDeaton1) September 3, 2025

The proof, according to Deaton, was in the decision itself, and it shows that any individual can make an impact, no matter how small.

Ripple VP confirms the role of the XRP army

Deaton’s comments were echoed by Deborah McCrimmon, Ripple’s vice president and deputy general counsel. In a Sept. 2 interview on the Penta Podcast, she revealed that members of the XRP community actively contributed valuable work to the case. This volunteer work saved Ripple “millions” in legal fees, she explained.

“We didn’t ask them to, but once they saw this defense in our in our answer, people started finding this. I could have paid lawyers thousands of dollars, literally thousands of dollars, to do that and yet they were finding it and posting it on Twitter, and that was tremendously helpful for me.”

Ripple Cto Fires Back At Litecoin Influencer’s Xrp Critique

Ripple CTO Fires Back at Litecoin Influencer’s XRP Critique

by admin September 4, 2025

In a fiery exchange on X, Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer, David Schwartz, pushed back against recent criticism by Jonny Litecoin, a notable Litecoin influencer. The clash reignites a long-standing debate between supporters of proof-of-work (PoW) and proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus-based cryptocurrencies.

Jonny Litecoin took a jab at XRP in a September 2 post, arguing it lacks intrinsic value due to its creation mechanism. In his post, he claimed XRP is generated for free “out of thin air” via code, unlike Litecoin, which uses computational effort and energy through PoW—positioning it as a more “real” asset in comparison.

Schwartz, however, didn’t let the comment slide. In a September 4 post, he pointed out that XRP and Litecoin serve similar functions, but added that XRP’s energy efficiency makes it the more sustainable choice.

Two products are equivalent except that one takes much more energy to make than the other. Which one do you think is the most likely to grow in popularity over time?

— David ‘JoelKatz’ Schwartz (@JoelKatz) September 3, 2025

Schwartz emphasized the environmental cost of mining-based currencies like Litecoin without denying the technical aspects of PoW.

Debate Between PoW and PoS Consensus

Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus requires miners to solve complex mathematical problems to validate transactions, consuming more computational power and energy, where miners can get a reward as well. Some of the popular blockchain using PoW are Bitcoin and Litecoin.

Meanwhile, Proof-of-Stake (PoS) allows validators to stake their cryptocurrency to validate transactions. This consensus mechanism uses less energy, prioritizing those with larger holdings. While PoW is more decentralized but energy-intensive, PoS is energy-efficient but potentially less decentralized. Ethereum, XRP Ledger, and a number of other blockchain use PoS, where validators stake crypto assets to become validators and validate transactions.

Energy Use vs. Perceived Value

The dispute is just the latest flare-up in the broader ideological battle between PoW and PoS supporters. Last week, a post shared by Litecoin’s official X account stirred tensions further by mocking Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse and attacking XRP’s fundamentals. Despite backlash from the XRP army, the Litecoin side held firm.

Such discussions show how consumers’ and developers’ objectives are changing as cryptocurrency matures, shifting from mining bragging rights to energy-conscious solutions that can scale responsibly.

XRP Army Played Key Role in Ripple’s SEC Legal Victory, Says Deaton

by admin September 4, 2025

Ripple’s long-running battle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ended last month, and crypto lawyer John Deaton says the “XRP Army” deserves credit for tipping the scales in Ripple’s favor.

In 2020, the SEC filed charges against Ripple, claiming that it was selling XRP as an unregistered security. In July 2023, Judge Analisa Torres decided that XRP sales on exchanges were not a security, but certain institutional sales were in fact a securities violation.

After years of appeals and legal wrangling, both sides finally dropped their challenges in August 2025, officially closing the case.

XRP Holders Stepped Up for Ripple

Deaton, who represented XRP tokenholders, said thousands of investors helped shape the outcome. “No credible person can argue that the XRP Army didn’t make a difference in the Ripple case,” he wrote on X.

He explained that over 2,000 exhibits, including affidavits from XRP holders, were filed in court, and Judge Torres even cited them in her ruling.

Ripple executives agree. Deborah McCrimmon, Ripple’s deputy general counsel, praised the XRP community for providing crucial research. “I could have paid lawyers thousands of dollars, literally thousands of dollars,” to do what the XRP Army did for free, she said on The Penta Podcast.

Their work supported Ripple’s fair notice defense, which argued the SEC never gave clear guidance on crypto regulation.

From Courtroom to Market Impact

The case not only made legal history but also shook the markets. After the July 2023 ruling, XRP surged 72%, climbing from $0.47 to $0.81. Ahead of the final settlement in August 2025, it rallied again, hitting a record high of $3.64 before cooling. Currently, XRP trades around $2.85, up about 0.43% in the last 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap.

For Deaton, the lesson is simple, “One person can inspire many people, and together, they can make a difference.”

Shiba Inu (SHIB): Ready to Fade Into Oblivion? XRP: Final Stand, Cardano (ADA) Bulls: Price Collapse Is One Move Away

by admin September 4, 2025

The market is on the verge of exiting the consolidation stage, with Shiba Inu, XRP and Cardano being on verge of their local formations that should boost volatility and push either asset into their next stage.

Shiba Inu at crossroads

With price action indicating the possibility of a significant breakdown, Shiba Inu is at a crucial crossroads. The token is stuck inside a narrowing triangle and is currently trading at about $0.0000123, but the overall structure is bearish.

Due to buyers’ inability to maintain momentum above resistance levels, each bounce has been weaker than the last. The consistent drop in trading volume is the most concerning indication. Volume has been declining since early August, which suggests that traders’ interest and involvement are waning.

SHIB/USDT Chart by TradingView

Declining volume during consolidation frequently precedes strong breakouts in cryptocurrency markets, however, since SHIB is already under pressure, the likelihood of a breakdown rather than a recovery is higher.

Technically speaking, SHIB will encounter resistance right away in the range of $0.0000130-$0.0000132, and then the 200-day moving average close to $0.0000139. Every upward attempt has been capped for weeks at these levels. Support for the downside is located just above $0.0000120. The next target might be $0.0000110 or even $0.0000100, a level that runs the risk of adding another zero to SHIB’s valuation if it significantly breaks below this.

Additionally, a classic indicator of deteriorating market structure, the descending trendline from the recent highs, is still forcing lower peaks. Bearish momentum will probably prevail unless SHIB can break out above that line with significant volume. That is, there is a genuine chance of oblivion.

In addition to possibly correcting further, SHIB runs the risk of becoming irrelevant for traders seeking stronger momentum plays if support gives way while volume keeps declining.

XRP’s last test

It appears that XRP is nearing a final stand at its current price. The token is currently trading at about $2.83, just above the 100-day EMA at $2.77, which serves as the crucial line of defense. If XRP is unable to maintain this zone, it may fall toward $2.50 and ultimately the psychological $2.00 level.

The symmetrical triangle pattern that had been supporting the price since mid-August is clearly broken in the chart. XRP was forced below the lower trendline by sellers, and although it has stabilized for the time being, momentum is still brittle. A clear close below $2.77 would validate the bearish trend.

You Might Also Like

The pattern in the volume adds to the uncertainty. The steady decline in trading volume is frequently an indication that sellers are worn out, and that bearish pressure is abating. However, low volume can also indicate fund outflows and disinterest, making XRP more susceptible to steeper drops when liquidity evaporates.

XRP has some breathing room for a recovery, as the RSI, which is currently hovering around 44 and reflecting neutral-to-weak momentum, does not yet exhibit any bullish divergence. Regaining $2.95-$3.00 is crucial for bulls. Strength would only be indicated by a persistent return above $3.00, which would pave the way for $3.10-$3.20.

XRP might still bounce back and reenter a consolidation range if support remains at the 100-day EMA. But if it fails, sentiment quickly shifts against it, making the path to $2.00 much more likely. This is a make-or-break situation for XRP investors for the time being.

Cardano’s patience

Cardano is putting its holders’ patience to the test once more. After weeks of losing momentum, the token is currently trading at a pivotal level, with bulls finding it difficult to maintain control. According to the short-term technical picture, the 100-day EMA and the crucial $0.80 support zone are both in the vicinity of ADA.

There is still hope for a recovery in ADA despite the negative undertones. The $0.80 area has previously shown itself to be resilient, serving as a base for several recoveries. Buyers can continue on their current trajectory toward $0.90 and $1.00 if they can defend this level once more.

You Might Also Like

A psychological shift would be signaled by a breakout above $1, which might draw momentum traders and investors who had been sidelined back into the market.

However, volume trends are not very promising. Everyday trading activity has decreased, indicating a general decline in enthusiasm. This makes ADA susceptible because, when markets turn risk-off, a lack of conviction can hasten downward pressure. However, these quiet periods frequently come before explosive moves, so the next sessions are very important.

The indecision is highlighted by the RSI, close to 48, which is in neutral territory and does not indicate oversold or overbought conditions. This implies that ADA has some leeway.

In general, the market is struggling, as there isn’t much of bearish support coming in and the majority of investors are bracing themselves for multiple breakdowns, especially if Bitcoin fails to deliver in the next few weeks.

Crypto Expert Says Something Big Is Coming For XRP, Why The October 18th Date Is Important

by admin September 3, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

The XRP community is buzzing after a prominent crypto expert hinted that a development could soon shake the market. The timing is especially significant as attention builds toward October 18, the deadline for a key regulatory decision on XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs). With speculation and anticipation running high, it now stands at the center of one of crypto’s most closely watched events.

Crypto Expert Sparks Urgency With “Something HUGE Is Coming” Post

Gordon, a self-proclaimed crypto multi-millionaire and long-time supporter of XRP, sparked a wave of speculation when he wrote on social media, “Something HUGE is coming, are you paying attention?” The short and urgent message suggested he expected a big development soon. Because Gordon has built a reputation as an early mover in the industry, many in the XRP community took his words seriously and quickly joined the conversation, sharing various views about his statement.

Crypto Crib, another voice in the space, replied: “We are, that’s how we stay ahead of the market.” The response showed that some traders see Gordon’s words as a reminder to remain watchful. Another user took a more skeptical approach, repeating Gordon’s phrase but adding that the market has been under pressure since 2020, calling it “a cutscene that hasn’t finished rendering yet.” Their view suggested that nothing new was happening, only continuing the long-running uncertainty.

Crypto Daddy added a middle-ground perspective, saying, “huge is relative, but yeah, always paying attention.” His words reflected a belief that change is constant, and what counts as “huge” depends on the beholder’s perspective.

Although Gordon provided no details, his statement serves as a reminder to many investors that XRP often attracts speculation in the lead-up to significant events. His call to pay attention will keep holders focused on October 18, a date that could deliver clarity or deepen uncertainty.

October 18th: The Make-or-Break Deadline For XRP ETFs

The urgency of Gordon’s post has taken on greater significance as October 18 approaches. That date marks the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) deadline for deciding on spot XRP exchange-traded funds.

Bloomberg analysts have estimated the chances of approval at 95% by year-end, citing the SEC’s new leadership under Paul Atkins and the GENIUS Act’s support for stablecoin regulation as key factors. If approval comes through, many expect the altcoin to see a rally similar to Bitcoin’s 160% surge after the approval of spot ETFs in 2024. Some long-term predictions even foresee XRP reaching $5 by 2030 if momentum continues to build.

Currently, XRP trades at around $2.81, with technical charts indicating resistance between $2.87 and $3.74. A break above the lower level could set up a run toward $3.40. If the SEC delays or denies ETF applications, the altcoin’s price could drop back toward its $2.17 support level, leaving investors disappointed.

October 18 could be a make-or-break moment. A green light would bring a wave of confidence and could change XRP’s place on the broader market.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson discusses XRP collaboration

by admin September 3, 2025

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson talked about the potential to work together with XRP on DeFi growth.

Summary

  • Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, sees potential in working together with Ripple
  • He confirmed he met with Ripple’s Brad Garlinghouse and started talks
  • Cardano is looking to collaborate with multiple chains and communities

The future of DeFi is in collaboration, not competition, recent comments by Cardano’s (ADA) Charles Hoskinson suggest. On Tuesday, September 3, Hoskinson published an “ask me anything” styled video in which he discussed the opportunities for collaborating with other major networks, and XRP (XRP) in particular.

“We work with a lot of people, including other ecosystems, who have contributed to some of this. Look at the Midnight airdrop, which was offered to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, and XRP, especially XRP. Look at the history there. And now we’re friends,” Charles Hoskinson, Cardano.

Hoskinson referenced the airdrop of Midnight’s DUST token, which serves as Cardano’s privacy-focused partner chain. The airdrop was an attempt to build goodwill with other communities and leaders. So far, this has worked particularly well with XRP, Hoskinson revealed.

Why Hoskinson wants Cardano to be closer to XRP

In his comments, Hoskinson singled out XRP as a major potential partner several times. In particular, he highlighted a conversation with Brad Garlinghouse, the CEO of Ripple Labs, and confirmed that he was talking to him.

“I was just with Brad Garlinghouse at a round table with the Federal Reserve at the Salt Conference in Jackson. And somehow, someway, we got along really well and said, ‘Hey, we need to talk more.’ That’s maturity,” Charles Hoskinson, Cardano.

The reason for this openness to collaboration seems strategic for Cardano. Hoskinson shared a vision of Cardano as a DeFi infrastructure layer for external ecosystems. This would include networks like Bitcoin (BTC) but also XRP, which lacks native smart contract capabilities.

“For us to service all the needs of Bitcoin DeFi and XRP DeFi, we must work together,” Charles Hoskinson, Cardano.

Ripple Vs. SWIFT Battle Heating Up As Exec Lands Major Blow To XRP

by admin September 3, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Ripple and SWIFT’s battle for dominance is heating up, with an executive at the latter taking a dig at XRP, the bridge currency for the crypto firm’s payment service. The executive also explained why businesses are unlikely to trust Ripple despite the conclusion of the SEC lawsuit.

SWIFT Executive Makes Criticism Against Ripple and XRP

SWIFT Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) Tom Zschach said on LinkedIn that surviving lawsuits isn’t resilience, in response to a post that praised Ripple and XRP for battling through the SEC lawsuit. The executive claimed that neutral and shared governance is what resilience is about and that institutions won’t want to live on a competitor’s rail.

With his comment, Zschach again raised the issue of centralization in the XRP ecosystem. The XRP Ledger and its native token have been largely criticized as being majorly dominated by Ripple, although the crypto firm has denied this. With his statement, the SWIFT CIO also suggested that most institutions won’t want to use the XRP Ledger or XRP since Ripple is a direct competitor to them.

Notably, Ripple has applied for a national banking license, which, if approved, would put it in the same league as banks that the crypto firm aims to onboard onto its payment rail. This is unlike SWIFT, whose operation is simply to serve these banks and doesn’t operate as a competition to them. However, Ripple’s payment solutions utilize blockchain technology, which is faster, giving it an edge over SWIFT.

Interestingly, Zschach’s comment comes at a time when Ripple executives are being criticized for dumping XRP, with crypto pundit Bitlord threatening to take action against the crypto firm if they don’t stop selling their holdings.

The crypto pundit opined that the crypto firm may be selling their holdings because they are unprofitable and are facing too much competition. Bitlord also opined that governments won’t adopt Ripple’s technology and that banks will choose to launch their payment rails instead of using the crypto firm’s.

Ripple Is Going About Compliance The Wrong Way

The SWIFT CIO also responded to the praise about how Ripple has been vocal about prioritizing compliance by working hand-in-hand with regulators. Zschach said that compliance isn’t about one company convincing regulators that it should be allowed to operate. Instead, he said that it is about an entire industry agreeing on shared standards that no single balance sheet controls.

It is worth mentioning that XRP Scan data shows that the top seven XRP holders are Ripple escrow accounts. These wallet addresses alone collectively hold about 32% of the token’s total supply. This explains why the XRP Ledger continues to be criticized for not being as decentralized as other blockchain networks. On-chain sleuth ZachXBT recently described XRP holders as “exit liquidity” for insiders.

Crypto Lawyer Dismisses Speculation on RLUSD Use Over XRP

Crypto Lawyer Dismisses Speculation on RLUSD Use Over XRP

by admin September 3, 2025

Amid growing misconceptions surrounding the Ripple payment ecosystem, pro-crypto lawyer Bill Morgan has taken to X to clear major concerns.

In a post shared on Tuesday, the lawyer has cleared the air on speculations about XRP being outperformed by RLUSD in cross-border payments.

The post comes as Ripple’s recent partnership announcements have seen the public weighing in on the use of Ripple’s U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin, RLUSD in the firm’s third-party partnerships against XRP.

Morgan proves XRP as superior to RLUSD

In contrast to the growing narrative that suggests RLUSD plays the core role in Ripple’s external payments, downplaying XRP’s use in such scenarios, the lawyer has clarified that recent announcements surrounding Ripple’s partnerships, including those with global payment firms, do not signify any key role for RLUSD.

While Morgan warned that he is not in the best position to issue such confirmations, he emphasized that Ripple has originally made clarifications that the majority of Ripple payments involve the use of XRP not RLUSD.

I don’t work for either company so putting me to the test of giving you confirmation or certainty is hardly fair.

Nothing in the announcement at all suggest any role for RLUSD. I think ripple has now made it clear and certainly it has been made clear and post by.@JoelKatz that…

— bill morgan (@Belisarius2020) September 2, 2025

The statement which was also reaffirmed by Ripple’s CTO, David Schwartz, emphasized that XRP remains superior to RLUSD in such major use cases as RLUSD currently serves limited purposes, such as in USD-specific markets or where regulatory frameworks mandate stablecoin use.

In his assertions, Morgan further added that in real-time, the use of RLUSD would only trigger more complexities for companies like Thunes, which prioritize instant payment in crypto transactions. Notably, some of the potential downsides posed by RLUSD in such scenarios include slower transactions, higher fees when issued on Ethereum, and limited global liquidity due to its USD peg.

You Might Also Like

On the other hand, Morgan confirmed that XRP is simply a superior bridge currency to any fiat based stablecoin provided the payment is fast enough for volatility, hence it is not to be a concern. He further added that there are no regulatory issues that make RLUSD preferable to XRP.

While the XRP community have expressed agreements to Morgan declaring XRP’s unmatched role in cross-border payments, it appears that the debate has had to come up every time there’s an announcement about a Ripple partnership with a third party.

Morgan expressed frustrations on the recurrence of such issues noting that it has become boring to have to address the same misconceptions on every Ripple partnership with a third party.
