NBA 2K26 shows off cinematic MyCareer Trailer with “five motion pictures worth of content” alongside Online Playoffs

by admin August 21, 2025

2K and developer Visual Concepts have released a new trailer for the upcoming NBA 2K26 MyCareer cinematic-style story mode, Out of Bounds.

The trailer, narrated by legendary director Spike Lee (who famously wrote and directed the 2K16 entry), shows your player going from the high school court, to watching the Draft with their family, to the starting roster of the Golden State Warriors with cameos from real-life NBA stars like Cade Cunningham and Tyrese Maxey.

2K says this iteration of MyCareer features “5 motion pictures worth of storytelling and content”, but whether that’s the Lord of the Rings extended edition or Ice Cube’s War of the Worlds remains to be seen, with a variety of different endings based on your choices and performance.

Spike Lee narrates the new NBA 2K26 Out of Bounds trailerWatch on YouTube

This trailer comes alongside new announcements for the MyNBA and MyGM career modes, with the former now including the option to create Online Playoffs for the first time. A long-requested feature, as the bracket commissioner players can seed the 16 Playoff teams, then invite 15 friends or online players to go head-to-head in a scrap for the title in what is sure to be a glisteningly sweaty game mode.

Then as a GM, you can now play through shorter bursts of MyGM gameplay across “30 unique MyGM scenarios” which are set in the offseason and task players with successfully navigating the Draft, rejuvenating an aging roster or laying the foundations for domination within an existing set up.

Previously, 2K announced that NBA and WNBA players will play on the same court in 2K26’s MyTeam mode, with a shared set of attributes and badges working the same way for both sets of players.

NBA 2K26 drops on September 5th for PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo consoles and PC, with 7-day early access available for pre-orders of the Superstar and Leave No Doubt editions starting August 29.

Scammer Impersonates UK Police to Steal Bitcoin Worth $2.8M

by admin August 21, 2025

The Welsh police are investigating a theft in which the scammer posed as a senior UK police officer and stole Bitcoin (BTC) worth approximately $2.8 million. The cyber team of the North Wales police stated that this theft was part of an ongoing trend where scammers target cold wallets of long-term cryptocurrency holders.

As per a Facebook post from NWP Cyber Crime Department, the scammer won the confidence of the victim by claiming that his details had been found on the phone of someone who was recently arrested and asked the victim to secure their funds via a phishing link. After gaining total control of the wallet, the scammer withdrew $2.8 million worth of BTC immediately.

“Scammers are constantly evolving their tactics,” the North Wales police said, “They are not just targeting new investors; they are crafting sophisticated social engineering schemes to trick even the most diligent holders.”

The police stated that through fear and urgency tactics used by most digital thieves, the victim was compelled to enter their seed phrase, which resulted in the diversion of funds to a sophisticated but fraudulent site. The police are now trying to trace and recover the funds, meanwhile recommending the masses to stay alert.

Police Share Advisories for Business and People

With the number of scams on the rise globally, authorities worldwide have been sharing advisories. Earlier this year, the UK police urged the public to be more vigilant against cyber crimes. They stated, “Police will NEVER call you unexpectedly to discuss your crypto assets or ask you to take action on your cold storage device. This is a big red flag.”

Moreover, earlier this month, the FBI also warned that the scammers are impersonating law agencies to contact victims of previous crypto scams and asked the public to report the scams at the earliest.

There’s ‘No Question In The World’ Bitcoin Will Be Worth $1M: Eric Trump

by admin August 21, 2025

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — U.S. President Donald Trump’s son, Eric Trump, is convinced bitcoin

will eventually be worth over $1 million.

Trump, who co-founded bitcoin mining company American Bitcoin earlier this year, reiterated his excitement for bitcoin during an appearance at the SALT conference in Jackson Hole on Wednesday.

He even called himself a “bitcoin maxi.”

The businessman and executive vice president of the Trump organization said he now spends over 50% of his time on crypto projects.

He said he believes that the crypto asset will be worth $175,000 a token by the end of the year, sticking with his earlier prediction.

Trump told several personal stories pointing out what he described as the flaws of the current financial system and how bitcoin and blockchain technology can solve those issues, including faster transactions and payment settlements.

American Bitcoin, which merged with Eric and his brother Donald Trump Jr-owned American Data Center in March, is expected to go public on Nasdaq via a merger with Gryphon Digital Mining (GRYP).

The brothers own 20% of the company while bitcoin miner Hut 8 holds the remaining 80%.

Trump’s comments came hours after Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong made a similar prediction.

Strategy Expands Bitcoin Holdings to 629,376 BTC Worth $46.15B

by admin August 18, 2025

Strategy Inc. continues to expand its Bitcoin (BTC) holding, escalating its accumulation despite market turbulence as prices slipped 3% to $115,539.The Virginia-based firm, led by CEO Michael Saylor, revealed on August 18 that it had acquired 430 BTC for roughly $51.4 million at an average price of $119,666 per coin.

This purchase lifts the company’s total Bitcoin holdings to 629,376 BTC, making Strategy one of the world’s largest corporate holders of the asset. Since it began its accumulation, the firm has spent $46.15 billion, averaging $73,320 per coin.

Besides the latest acquisition, Saylor highlighted the firm’s performance. “Strategy has acquired 430 BTC… and has achieved BTC Yield of 25.1% YTD 2025,” he wrote on X. Hence, despite volatile conditions, Strategy has maintained consistent gains, proving the effectiveness of its accumulation strategy.

The recent update wasn’t just about purchasing Bitcoin. Below the post, the CEO also included a fresh approach to the company’s equity issuance strategy linked to its Bitcoin reserves. The firm introduced a tiered system that considers their market value in relation to net asset value (mNAV).

When the firm’s trading value exceeds 4.0x mNAV, it issues more MSTR shares to acquire additional Bitcoin. In the range of 2.5x to 4.0x mNAV, they continue to issue shares, but only when the opportunity arises.

Strategy today announced an update to its MSTR Equity ATM Guidance to provide greater flexibility in executing our capital markets strategy. pic.twitter.com/xSwwcWubIq

— Michael Saylor (@saylor) August 18, 2025

Consequently, below 2.5x mNAV, the company restricts issuance to meeting debt or other obligations. Finally, if valuation sinks under 1.0x mNAV, Strategy may issue credit to repurchase its own shares.

SEC Filing Confirms Strategy

The company also filed a Form 8-K with the SEC as part of its update, making sure it stays in line with investor disclosure rules. In simple terms, this shows that Strategy is being open about how it manages money while steadily building its Bitcoin stash.

The firm’s bold move makes it clear that Bitcoin is not just a side investment, but its main treasury strategy. Moreover, the updated guidance shows that Strategy plans to keep using market ups and downs to grow its holdings while still protecting shareholders from too much dilution.

XRP Slips Below $3 as Nearly $500 Million Worth of Crypto Gets Liquidated

by admin August 18, 2025

  • Longs getting wiped out
  • Key level to hold

XRP, one of the top altcoins by market cap, slipped to an intraday low of $2.96 earlier this Monday.

The token has hit its lowest level since Aug. 6 as bulls struggle to regain their momentum.

XRP/USD by TradingView

CoinGecko data shows that XRP is currently the second worst-performing token in the top 10 with a 24-hour drop of more than 4%. Only Solana (SOL) has underperformed it, plunging by as much as 5%.

The entire cryptocurrency market is currently under substantial selling pressure, with Bitcoin also taking a significant hit.

Longs getting wiped out

Earlier this Friday, the top cryptocurrency came awfully close to dropping below the $115,000 level, registering an intraday low of $115,059.

According to CoinGlass, a whopping $464.70 million worth of crypto has been liquidated over the past 24 hours. Long positions account for the lion’s share of this wipeout ($380 million).

Key level to hold

As reported by U.Today, $2.81 is viewed as the crucial level for the leading cryptocurrency to hold since roughly 1.7 billion tokens had been accumulated there.

XRP is currently changing hands at $2.98 on the Bitstamp exchange.

BlackRock Bitcoin ETF Now Holds 735,000 BTC Worth $86B

by admin August 17, 2025

BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager with over $11.6 trillion in assets, now controls more than 735,000 Bitcoin worth about $86 billion.

Data from Arkham Intelligence. shows BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin ETF (IBIT) wallets have received steady transfers, with multiple on-chain transactions of 300 BTC, worth $37 million each recorded in the last couple of days through Coinbase Prime.

Meanwhile, this marks a large jump from March this year when BlackRock was reported to hold 567,000 BTC valued at $47.8 billion.

At the same time, BlackRock’s Ethereum ETFs are also growing. Several wallets tied to its ETHA Ethereum ETF recently received 5,900 ETH and multiple 10,000 ETH deposits within two days. These Ethereum transfers are valued at more than $121 million combined. Currently, BlackRock ETH amounts to over $14 billion.

The accumulation puts BlackRock among the largest holders of Bitcoin worldwide, ranking alongside government treasuries and long-time crypto whales in terms of overall scale.

In fact, Blackrock holds more Bitcoin than Strategy which has about 628.946 Bitcoin in its holding worth $54.93 billion.

Moreover, Bitcoin exchange-traded has continued to stand as  the most successful ETF launches in history. So far, it has attracted tens of billions in trading volume since approval in 2024, with Blackrock pumping more liquidity into it.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin is holding up as it dances between $118k and $117k. Currently, it is trading for $117,789 after experiencing a lovely week as its price surged up to $124k on Aug 14. However, the price is up just a modest 0.34% today as investors retire for the weekend, according to CoinMarketCap.

Ripple Whale Transfers 26.6M XRP Worth $58M to Coinbase

by admin June 20, 2025

A Ripple whale just transferred 26.6 million XRP, worth around $58 million, to Coinbase, sparking fresh speculation in the crypto market. According to blockchain tracker Whale Alert, the transfer came from an unknown wallet and raised immediate concerns of profit booking and potential sell pressure.

To everyone surprise, the price of XRP remained unchanged. It is holding at the time of reporting at $2.16, which is surprisingly strong given the massive inflow into a centralized exchange.

This kind of whale action is normally a sign of a potential sell-off and this tends to pull prices down. However, this time the market remained calm.

Alva, a crypto analytics platform, said XRP showed “impressive resilience” at a time when other cryptocurrencies were struggling amid heavy liquidations and fears linked to the Israel-Iran tensions.

The responses are divided on social media. Other traders are cautioning that the whale could be about to dump, whereas others are interpreting this as a bullish indicator of increased market maturity. It is thought that the price is being boosted by increasing optimism of a potential spot XRP ETF in the US and massive treasury buying.

The recent rally of XRP contributes to the story. Since November 2024, the token has increased by more than threefold, breaking the $2 threshold, and providing investors with more than 300 percent returns. It has caused a round of profit taking, with Glassnode data indicating that $68.8 million worth of daily profits were realized in early June.

This whale is either selling or not selling, but the price action of XRP is showing that the market is becoming stronger.

Clones, sandworms, scrapbooking and other new indie games worth checking out

by admin June 15, 2025

It’s been a big week or so in the video game realm between the arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2 (our review is now live) and Summer Game Fest. During the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, Microsoft announced handheld gaming PCs that will have deep Xbox integration as well as support for storefronts such as Battle.net. Steam, GOG and Ubisoft Connect. If Microsoft and its partner ASUS stick the landing, the Xbox Ally systems could be a strong option for powering through your backlog of games, big and small. As it happens, you might be about to add more to your wishlist thanks to our latest indie games roundup.

The latest Steam Next Fest also started this week. Part of the fun of the event, which runs until June 16, is diving into demos for games you’d never heard of until now, so go forth and play some! You never know if you might be one of the first people to play the next Balatro, for instance. A quick word of advice: if you’d prefer to avoid titles with generative AI, remember that Valve requires developers that use such material in their games or marketing to disclose that on their Steam store page.

New releases

The Alters is the latest project from Frostpunk and This War is Mine studio 11 Bit Studios, which self-published this game. As the sole survivor of a space expedition, Jan Dolski has to keep a large mobile base moving across the surface of a planet to avoid the deadly radiation of the sun. To help him solve problems along the way, Jan must create and rely on clones of himself. These alternate versions (or “alters”) are based on divergences from pivotal life choices Jan made in his past. They each have their own specialist roles, skill sets and personalities, with needs that have to be fulfilled.

The Alters has an interesting premise. Once you factor in elements like traditional survival gameplay and base building, there should be plenty of variety here. Reviews have been positive for this one. I’m interested in trying it out, though it seems like the kind of thing that may prompt one to reflect on their own life choices. The Alters is out now on Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It’s on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

Dune: Awakening is another major indie game that arrived on Steam this week (well, June 5 for those who bought pricier editions) following a delay. It will hit consoles at a later date. The open-world survival MMO from developer Funcom takes inspiration from Frank Herbert’s novels and Denis Villeneuve’s films. It still takes place on Arrakis but is set in an alternate timeline.

You’ll want to be extra careful when it comes to sandworms. You’ll keep most of your gear if you die by the hands of other players or other computer-controlled enemies, though you’ll drop some resources that you can pick up again if you perish in PvP combat. If a sandworm devours you, though, you’ll lose absolutely everything you’re carrying.

Oh dear, where to start with MindsEye? It is fair to say this is a video game that became available to buy this week on Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It is also fair to say that the debut of this action-adventure title from former GTA producer Leslie Benzies’ studio Build A Rocket Boy has been less than smooth.

It was already pretty ominous that two executives left Build a Rocket Boy just days before the arrival of MindsEye. After the game’s release, Sony reportedly issued refunds to some players as clips showing glitches, bugs, performance issues and clunky gameplay spread. There isn’t even an in-game world map.

One creator who played the game kept laughing throughout their sponsored stream (the developer is also said to have pulled the plug on another sponsored stream just as it was about to start). That’s pretty ironic, considering Build a Rocket Boy co-CEO Mark Gerhard said there was “a concerted effort” against MindsEye and claimed “that there are bot farms posting negative comments and dislikes.”

The studio claimed this week it was “working around the clock” to improve MindsEye. Perhaps Build A Rocket Boy will surprise everyone and turn things around in a similar fashion to Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man’s Sky. That seems like a tall order, to say the least.

Indie games aren’t all survival and action, of course. They can also be about things like arranging photos in chronological order to discover a family story.

Such is the case with Instants from developer Endflame, which debuted on Steam during last Saturday’s Wholesome Direct showcase. It’s a charming-looking puzzle game in which you can decorate your photo album and, if you need it, get some help from a furry friend.

Upcoming

I’ve been itching to get my hands on Baby Steps for ages, so after we got a September 8 release date for the game on Steam and PS5, I was very happy that a Steam demo arrived last weekend. This is a walking simulator in the truest sense of the term from Bennett Foddy (QWOP, Getting Over It), Gabe Cuzzillo, Maxi Boch (both of whom worked with Foddy on the enjoyable Ape Out) and publisher Devolver Digital. You use controller triggers or mouse buttons to lift main character Nate’s feet one at a time and place them on the ground after using directional buttons or a thumbstick to position them.

Nate, “an unemployed failson” who seems very unfamiliar with the skill of walking, will fall over and over and over again as you hike up mountains. Sometimes he’ll fall down a muddy ravine, sending him tumbling down the side of a peak.

You might want to quit or uninstall the demo after an unfortunate tumble. I understand. I did too. But the early evidence suggests Baby Steps is shaping up to be a uniquely hilarious, frustrating and hopefully rewarding experience. And so we march on.

One of the more compelling reveals for me at the Xbox Games Showcase was a sequel to Planet of Lana, which I enjoyed very much. The follow-up to that story-driven puzzle platformer is Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf.

Developer Wishfully and Thunderful Publishing are bringing this installment, which looks just as beautiful as the first game, to Steam, Xbox and PlayStation in 2026. It’ll be available on Game Pass on day one. Looking forward to it.

I’ve had Gecko Gods from developer Inresin and publisher Super Rare Originals on my radar for a few years now. As a little gecko trying to save their friend, you’ll be able to climb on anything while exploring an island.

After some delays, this puzzle platformer is set to arrive on Steam, Switch and PlayStation this fall. A demo dropped as part of Steam Next Fest too.

During the various showcases over the last week or so, we saw not one, but two farming/life sims that are squarely in the horror genre. I am excited for them both. First up is Fractured Blooms from Serenity Forge (Doki Doki Literature Club Plus).

Your character, Angie, is stuck in a time loop and you’ll have to manage her food and stamina. You’ll tend to her garden and prepare meals before completing evening chores in your home, though you may not be the only entity that resides there.

As if I weren’t looking forward to this one enough already, Serenity Forge says the seminal TV show Lost was one of its inspirations for Fractured Blooms. There’s no release window as yet, but you can wishlist it on Steam if you’re interested.

The other horror-inflected farming sim that caught my eye this week is Grave Seasons, from Perfect Garbage and publisher Blumhouse Games. Sure, you’ll harvest crops, go fishing and get to know your neighbors. You might also break and enter into their homes.

While the mountain town of Ashenridge might seem idyllic on the surface, beware: there’s a supernatural serial killer on the prowl. Grave Seasons is coming to PC and consoles in 2026.

One Steam Next Fest demo I’ll certainly be checking out this weekend is for a game called Dispatch, which was announced at The Game Awards in December. This comedic narrative game is about a hero (Aaron Paul) who has run into difficult times after losing his mech suit. He starts working as a superhero dispatcher. You’ll “manage a dysfunctional team of misfit heroes and strategize who to send to emergencies around the city, all while balancing office politics, personal relationships and your own quest to become a hero.”

Dispatch has a stellar cast that also includes Laura Bailey, Matthew Mercer and Academy Award nominee Jeffrey Wright. Given that Dispatch is being made by former Telltale developers at AdHoc Studio, it’s maybe not too much of a surprise that dialogue choices are a key part of the gameplay, which has some strategic elements as well. Dispatch is coming to PC and consoles later this year.

Bitcoin options worth nearly $3B to expire on June 13

by admin June 13, 2025

Around $2.96 billion worth of Bitcoin options are set to expire on Friday, June 14, potentially injecting volatility into already fragile crypto markets.

According to data from Deribit, the contracts, scheduled to expire at 08:00 UTC, represent one of the largest expiries this quarter. The open interest includes nearly equal amounts of calls and puts, with a put-to-call ratio of 0.95. This suggests a slightly bullish bias, though the current spot price, hovering around $104,000, sits well below the max pain point of $107,000.

🚨 Options Expiry Alert 🚨
At 08:00 UTC tomorrow, over $3.7B in crypto options are set to expire on Deribit.$BTC: $3.04B notional | Put-Call: 0.95 | Max Pain: $107K$ETH: $687M notional | Put-Call: 1.20 | Max Pain: $2,700

ETH upside flows are strong heading into expiry.

— Deribit (@DeribitOfficial) June 12, 2025

The max pain level is where option holders feel the most financial loss and often acts as a magnetic level in the final trading hours before expiry. Ethereum (ETH) options worth $678 million are also due to expire. Unlike Bitcoin (BTC), ETH’s put-to-call ratio sits at a more bearish 1.23, reflecting traders hedging downside risk after recent declines.

Options are derivative contracts that grant traders the right, but not the obligation, to purchase (call) or sell (put) an asset at a fixed price. Spot prices may be impacted as traders unwind hedges or roll positions when large volumes of options expire. During these times, price frequently moves toward the maximum pain level, particularly in markets with low volume.

The current expiry coincides with pressure on Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market as a whole. The total value of the cryptocurrency market has dropped 7% to $3.3 trillion, and Bitcoin has lost over 5% in the last day. Analysts point to Israel’s attack on Iran as the cause of the macroeconomic uncertainty and geopolitical unrest.

From a technical perspective, Bitcoin is beginning to show early signs of a trend shift. The price has slipped below the 20-day moving average, which is often used to predict short-term direction. A decline in bullish momentum is indicated by the relative strength index’s trend below the neutral 50 mark. Although volume has slightly increased, it is still insufficient to validate a complete bearish breakdown.

BTC price analysis. Credit: crypto.news

A short squeeze might be triggered if Bitcoin maintains above $101,000 and recovers $105,000 before expiration, which could push the price back toward $107,000, the maximum pain level and important resistance.

Further declines could be possible if there is a clear break below $101,000, with $97,800 and $95,000 serving as potential support levels. A decline through those areas might signal a more significant correction.

I compared a new cheap mini-LED TV to a mid-range model, and here’s why upgrading is more than worth a small price increase

by admin June 8, 2025

Some TV manufacturers are now offering more models within their full TV lineup, with smaller gaps between them when it comes to features and price, and this can make things confusing for potential TV buyers. Naturally, if an entry-level TV has a similar feature list to a step-up model, it’s the better deal, right? Well, that’s not always the case.

I recently tested two 2025 UK mini-LED TVs from TCL, makers of some of the best TVs. The models are the entry-level C6K and the mid-range C7K, which earned 4 out of 5 stars in my TCL C7K review. When I first saw the 2025 C-series mini-LEDs, the C7K looked to be the sweet spot in terms of value, delivering the best picture quality and features for the price.

As I had both these TVs available, I decided to compare them side-by-side just to see whether the extra cost of the C7K was worth it.

You may like

For a price reference, the 55-inch C6K costs £599, and the 55-inch C7K costs £849. I compared the 55-inch C6K with the 65-inch C7K for my testing, however. If you’re in the US, the closest direct models are the TCL QM6K vs the TCL QM7K.

Brightness and color

The C7K (right) exhibited significantly bolder and more vibrant colors than the C6K (left), as shown here on the Wizard & I scene from Wicked (Image credit: Future)

Both of these TVs use mini-LED backlights, meaning you’re getting higher brightness than with a standard LED TV. But, crucially, there are often brightness differences between entry-level and mid-range mini-LED models.

When I measured the peak brightness of both TVs (on a 10% white HDR window in Filmmaker Mode), the C6K hit 705 nits, while the C7K hit 1,790 nits – a significant difference. But how did this translate into real-world viewing?

The first area of note was color, where the best mini-LED TVs often excel. Watching a 4K Blu-ray of Wicked, with both TVs set to Dolby Vision Dark (which I found to be a more accurate picture preset than Dolby Vision IQ), the benefit of the C7K’s extra brightness hit was apparent.

In the Wizard & I scene, the green of Elphaba’s skin, pink flowers, blue wall inlays and even the beige walls looked much punchier and more vibrant on the C7K. The C6K didn’t look bad, but it also didn’t have the same level of definition I expect to see in a movie like Wicked, with the C7K adding more color depth.

Even in the climax of the scene where Elphaba runs across a wheat field, the yellow of the field and the sun were more impactful on the C7K. This showed that peak brightness, which is typically higher in more premium mini-LED TVs compared to entry-level models, is a crucial factor for delivering more vivid colors.

Contrast and black levels

Both the TCL C6K (left) and TCL C7K (right) displayed surprisingly deep black levels, but the C7K’s higher brightness allowed for better contrast (Image credit: Future)

TVs with a backlight, such as mini-LED models, use local dimming to enhance the contrast between light and dark areas on screen. The more local dimming zones a TV has, the more precisely it can dim and brighten sections of the screen based on what’s being shown.

The 55-inch C6K has 180 local dimming zones compared to the 65-inch C7K’s 1,008 local dimming zones. Screen size does have an impact on the number of local dimming zones in a TV, but the C7K’s 55-inch model still has 720 zones, so there can be a significant difference even in same-sized models.

Watching a 4K Blu-ray of Nosferatu, again in Dolby Vision Dark, scenes with extreme contrast, such as a blackened room lit only by a torch, fireplace, or the Moon, looked richer and more accurate on the C7K. Light areas were brighter and the black tones were deeper, creating a much more dynamic and textured image.

With Nosferatu (2024), both TVs did a good job with black levels, although the C6K (left) was subject to black crush in places (Image credit: Future)

The same was true in The Batman, with the flashbulbs of cameras and wall-lamps better contrasting with the dark surroundings on the C7K. Even smaller details, such as light reflected off Batman’s cape, showed stronger contrast, with a greater difference between the light and dark tones.

The C7K’s higher number of local dimming zones also allowed it to show better shadow detail. In Nosferatu, as Hutler walks towards the carriage to Count Orlock’s at night, the C7K showed more of his face in the darkness, whereas the C6K crushed that level of detail.

Black and white – and shades of gray

Although the C7K (right) has the better contrast and overall picture quality, the C6K’s screen uniformity was better with black and white pictures such as this one from Oppenheimer. (Image credit: Future)

Things got even more interesting when viewing black and white movies. Watching the black and white scenes from Oppenheimer, the C7K still showed greater contrast between deep blacks and white highlights, and had a wider range of gray tones in between.

However, I noted that the C6K had better screen uniformity (the ability to evenly display the same color across larger areas of the screen) compared to the C7K. This was an issue I’d noted as an issue in my C7K review, and it made me prefer the C6K when watching black and white content.

Conclusion

The C6K (left) is a good TV for its price, but the jump in picture quality provided by the C7K (right) justifies paying more (Image credit: Future)

To sum up, comparing these two TVs side-by-side proved that it does pay to pay more. Yes, the C6K may have had the upper hand with black and white images, but the C7K outmatched it in color, contrast, black levels and also detail, with the C6K taking on a softer look in a side-by-side test.

That’s not to say the C6K is a bad TV. For its price, it did a solid job with every movie I threw at it, and it was a perfectly fine TV for casual viewing. But this is one example where, given the small £250 gap in price of the respective 55-inch models, it’s worth investing in the more premium option.
