Frontier Developments removes gen AI use from Jurassic World Evolution 3

by admin June 25, 2025

Frontier Developments has announced it is removing use of generative AI in Jurassic World Evolution 3 following pushback and criticism.

In a response to a thread on its Steam page, the developer said that following feedback it had “opted to remove the use of generative AI for scientist portraits” within the game.

Following the game’s announcement earlier this month at Summer Game Fest, its Steam page featured an AI disclosure statement which led to criticism from players, as reported by GameSpot.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 is set to launch on October 21, 2025.

Earlier this year, Activision faced backlash for confirming the use of generative AI tools to “help develop some in-game assets,” as noted by Game Developer.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 Removes AI Art After Fans Yell A Lot

by admin June 25, 2025

When Jurassic World Evolution 3 was announced earlier this month, many fans were disappointed to learn that Frontier Developments was planning to include AI-generated artwork in the park sim. Now, after some “feedback” from fans, the studio is backing down and removing the AI slop.

Disney+ Pulls The Abyss Over Controversial Rat Scene — Again

The upcoming Jurassic World Evolution 3 looks like a big step forward for the dinosaur park builder series, with the franchise finally adding baby dinos after fans had begged for them to be included for many years. As a big fan of the first two games, I was super excited about Evolution 3, and it launches in October, so I don’t even have to wait long to start building dinosaur parks filled with tourists for my hungry prehistoric animals to eat. Then I learned that the game would include AI-generated scientist portraits, as explained in a disclosure on Evolution 3‘s Steam page, and my excitement deflated quite a lot. Thankfully, that crap is now gone.

On June 24, Frontier Developments posted on the game’s official Steam forums that it was removing the AI slop. GameWatcher reached out to the studio for clarification and received this statement, further confirming the removal of the AI content and explaining that it was because of “some initial feedback.”

We have removed the use of generative AI for scientists portraits in Jurassic World Evolution 3 following some initial feedback. The team are continuing their diligent work on the game and are very much looking forward to launching on 21 October.

I’m guessing “feedback” here was the hundreds of fan messages and posts across the internet complaining about the AI art and threatening to not buy the game if it was left in Jurassic World Evolution 3.

As of June 24, there is no longer an AI art disclosure on the game’s Steam page. Hopefully, that means there isn’t any other AI-generated content buried in the dino park builder and I can enjoy building (and then screwing up) dozens of big Jurassic Parks of my very own when Evolution 3 launches on October 10 on PC, Xbox, and PS5.

Smash Bros. Pro Dropped After Beerio Kart World Cup Incident

by admin June 24, 2025

Joseph “Mang0″ Marquez, a long-time Smash Bros. player and two-time Evo champion, isn’t getting invited back to the next Beerio Kart World Cup. The esports pro was banned for inappropriate behavior during the livestreamed event and subsequently dropped from his team, Cloud9. “I’m sorry everyone,” he wrote afterwards. “Wish I was better. I had it all and fucking tossed it in the trashcan.”

Disney+ Pulls The Abyss Over Controversial Rat Scene — Again

The Beerio Kart World Cup event was organized by Twitch streamer Ludwig Ahgren and, for anyone unfamilliar with the general concept, featured various online personalities competing in the recently released Mario Kart World while driving under the influence. People got more inebriated as the tournament progressed, with Marquez in particular eventually ditching his Wario costume and walking around shirtless.

A clip from the livestream at one point showed him appearing to drunkenly dry-hump behind Twitch streamer Maya Higa who was sitting next to Emily “ExtraEmily” Zhang while they talked to the livestream camera. Multiple other clips show him seemingly continue to act inappropriately toward the pair at other points during the event. The livestream shows various people calling out Mang0’s behavior during the Mario Kart tournament, though it’s not clear that any of the organizers intervened at the time.

“I reached out to anyone who I thought might have felt uncomfortable and talked to them but also, and I already told Mang0 this, no longer inviting Mang0 to Mogul Moves events,” Ludwig said in a June 22 livestream, referencing his company that organized the tournament. “It’s a privilege to go to an event, the whole point of an event is it’s a fun thing to do, to have a good ass time and if somebody appearing jeopardizes somebody else having a good time that just can’t be a thing.”

On June 23, Marquez acknowledged the incident and said he had a problem with alcohol. “Sorry to everyone I’ve let down or hurt,” he wrote on X. “I know it just looks like I’m trying to save face but I genuinely feel so awful about it.. all I’ve done is reflect on my life and realized I’m a broken human I will try and redeem myself over time as I always do Gonna stop drinking immediately and get it together.”

Later that day, however, Cloud9, the team which Marquez has been representing in Smash Bros. tournaments for over a decade, announced it was parting ways with the esports player. “Following an internal evaluation, we have made the decision to release mang0 from Cloud9,” it wrote in a statement. “Regardless of tenure or accomplishments, the behavior demonstrated is entirely unacceptable and directly conflicts with our organization’s core values. We maintain a zero-tolerance stance regarding harassment or any other form of inappropriate conduct.”

It’s unclear how the Beerio Kart World Cup incident will impact Marquez’s involvement in the Smash Bros. competitive scene moving forward. One of the next big events, Supernova 2025, takes place in August. Currently ranked third among all Melee players, Marquez suggested he might be taking a break. “C9 dropping me. Probably getting banned from tourneys. Fucking shit man,” he wrote on X. “No one to blame but myself but man. Never though I could hit this low. Probably won’t hear from me for a while I’m sorry everyone.”

Jurassic World Evolution 3 is ditching its AI-generated art after “some initial feedback”

by admin June 24, 2025

Jurassic World Evolution 3’s unveiling earlier this month drew some mixed responses; there was, for instance, ample excitement over the fact baby dinosaurs will finally be wandering all over the place come its arrival later this year, but less enthusiasm for Frontier Developments’ decision to whip the theme park sim’s scientist avatar art into existence using generative AI. But now, the studio has confirmed it’s reversing course on the latter after “some initial feedback”.

Word Frontier would be relying on generative AI to create its boffins first emerged via Jurassic World Evolution 3’s Steam page, which, alongside the game’s modest system requirements, included the AI disclosure statement – as mandated by Valve – that “Scientists’ avatars” would be created using the controversial technology. This, seemingly, referred to the face portraits accompanying employable staff – rather than key characters – throughout the game.

Some fans have dismissed concerns around the use of generative AI by pointing out that scientist avatars are a fairly minor element of Jurassic World Evolution 3, and there’ve also been suggestions the game’s 2021 predecessor made similar use of the technology – albeit before Steam’s mandatory disclosure rule came into play. But the pushback among the community has been significant enough that Frontier has taken note and ditched its AI usage.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 announcement trailer.Watch on YouTube

It shared the news on the game’s Steam forum, but a longer statement was provided to Game Watcher. “We have removed the use of generative AI for scientists portraits in Jurassic World Evolution 3 following some initial feedback,” Frontier wrote. “The team are continuing their diligent work on the game and are very much looking forward to launching on 21st October.”

Frontier, of course, is far from the only developer to have dabbled with generative AI, and far from the only one to face criticism for doing so. Activision was accused of creating “AI slop” by Call of Duty fans after AI-generated art was used in promotional material for the billion dollar franchise, including a Santa zombie crafted with so little artistic regard, apparently nobody at Activision noticed it had six fingers. Microsoft also recently drew criticism after releasing an AI generated playable (in the loosest sense of the word) demo “inspired” by Quake 2.

For all the controversy, though, it’s clear AI is changing game development forever, and numerous companies, including Ubisoft and Take-Two, have discussed exploring generative AI “tools”. Nintendo’s Doug Bowser recently addressed the technology too, acknowledging its potential to “enhance productivity”, while adding, “There’s always, always going to be a human touch, and a human engagement in how we develop and build our games.”

Jurassic World Evolution 3 devs backtrack on AI use after player outrage

by admin June 24, 2025

Frontier Developments tried using AI in Jurassic World Evolution 3. Players noticed and revolted, so the devs blinked quickly.

The studio behind the Jurassic World Evolution series added a disclaimer on Steam: the scientist portraits were created using generative AI.

That didn’t go down smoothly. Fans flamed Frontier as “lazy,” “pathetic,” and “desperate,” accusing them of choosing AI over actual artists.

In a rare corporate whiplash, Frontier reversed course and pulled AI-generated scientist portraits entirely from the game. The decision was swift, public, and a loud signal: players aren’t ready to hand creativity over to machines.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 devs caved on AI

Frontier posted on Steam:

“Thanks for your feedback on this topic. We have opted to remove the use of generative AI for scientist portraits within Jurassic World Evolution 3.”

Frontier Developments

In Jurassic World Evolution, Scientists aren’t just pixel fluff. They run everything in Jurassic World Evolution games. They extract fossils. Synthesize genomes. Incubate dinosaurs. A cranky one can sabotage your park and even unleash a T-Rex. They’re basically dino-world gods in lab coats.

And fans like seeing the faces of those gods. When AI touched those portraits, people noticed.

One furious player wrote, “All this work put into the game and you got lazy with the avatars and used AI? Seriously? I was so hyped until I saw this. This better be fixed before full release.”

Another blasted the studio, saying, “Using AI-generated content is downright insulting to artists, and it’s nothing more than pure laziness by Frontier Developments.” The outrage wasn’t just about technology, it was about trust, artistic integrity, and the feeling that something vital was being sacrificed for convenience.

Article continues after ad

The AI label appeared due to Steam’s new rule. Valve now forces devs to disclose any generative AI use: art, dialogue, code, or otherwise. It’s not a law, but it’s mandatory on Steam.

Elsewhere, AI in games is… complicated. Fortnite’s AI Darth Vader was both fun and a mess, voiced with consent, but also abused by players. inZoi’s AI didn’t catch on at all.

The bottom line is players still want real artists behind the curtain, especially when their scientists might be breeding raptors.

Blizzard’s next big World of Warcraft reveal will be at Gamescom

by admin June 24, 2025

Blizzard has always had a strong presence at Gamescom, the big German games expo that takes place in August — and this year it will be there in force with a major World of Warcraft expansion reveal.

In the absence of a BlizzCon convention this year — Blizzard has confirmed that its big fan event will return in 2026, after a three-year hiatus — Blizzard will use Gamescom as a stage for the full reveal of the next WoW expansion, Midnight.

In a brief blog post, the developer promised “exclusive news and updates on the next chapter of the World of Warcraft: Worldsoul Saga — Midnight — directly from the development team, along with a few additional surprises we have in store.” Those will be World of Warcraft surprises, although Blizzard may have unannounced plans to feature its other games at the show, too.

Midnight is the second chapter in the Worldsoul Saga, a three-expansion arc planned by Chris Metzen, the original creator of the Warcraft setting. We know it will take place at least partly in Quel’Thalas, home of the Blood Elves, and that it will introduce player housing, a feature Blizzard has already revealed some details on. Beyond that, there’s a lot to learn about the expansion from Gamescom.

There’s no release date for Midnight yet, either. Most WoW expansions take around two years to make, and the last expansion, The War Within, came out in August 2024, so a release in mid-2026 seems likely.

Manchester City will look to maintain a winning start to Group G as it takes on an Al Ain team looking to regroup after suffering a nightmare opening result.

Below, we’ll outline the best live TV streaming services to watch every match of the tournament as it happens, wherever you are in the world. We’ll also explain how to use a VPN if the match isn’t available where you are, along with a full match list.

Pep Guardiola’s men kicked off their campaign with a convincing 2-0 win over Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca on Wednesday, with goals from Phil Foden and Jérémy Doku — and a late red card for young defender Rico Lewis.

Al Ain, meanwhile, head into this fixture low on confidence after a heavy 5-0 defeat to Juventus at Audi Field — a result that exposed defensive vulnerabilities and left the Emirati side on the brink of an early exit from the tournament.

Manchester City takes on Al Ain on Sunday, June 22, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. ET or 6 p.m. PT. That makes it a 2 a.m. BST start in the UK and an 11 a.m. AEST kickoff in Australia on Monday morning.

Left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, who signed from Wolves in a in a $50 million deal early this month, is widely expected to make his Man City debut in today’s game.

How to watch Man City vs. Al Ain online from anywhere using a VPN

If you’re traveling abroad and want to keep up with all the FIFA Club World Cup soccer action while away from home, a VPN can help enhance your privacy and security when streaming.

It encrypts your traffic and prevents your internet service provider from throttling your speeds. It can also be helpful when connecting to public Wi-Fi networks while traveling, adding an extra layer of protection for your devices and logins. VPNs are legal in many countries, including the US and Canada, and can be used for legitimate purposes such as improving online privacy and security.

However, some streaming services may have policies restricting VPN use to access region-specific content. If you’re considering a VPN for streaming, check the platform’s terms of service to ensure compliance.

If you choose to use a VPN, follow the provider’s installation instructions, ensuring you’re connected securely and in compliance with applicable laws and service agreements. Some streaming platforms may block access when a VPN is detected, so verifying if your streaming subscription allows VPN use is crucial.

Quick tips for streaming the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 soccer using a VPN

  • With four variables at play — your ISP, browser, video streaming provider and VPN — your experience and success when streaming soccer may vary.
  • If you don’t see your desired location as a default option for ExpressVPN, try using the “search for city or country” option.
  • If you’re having trouble getting the game after you’ve turned on your VPN and set it to the correct viewing area, there are two things you can try for a quick fix. First, log in to your streaming service subscription account and make sure the address registered for the account is an address in the correct viewing area. If not, you may need to change the physical address on file with your account. Second, some smart TVs — like Roku — don’t have VPN apps you can install directly on the device itself. Instead, you’ll have to install the VPN on your router or the mobile hotspot you’re using (like your phone) so that any device on its Wi-Fi network now appears in the correct viewing location.
  • All of the VPN providers we recommend have helpful instructions on their main site for quickly installing the VPN on your router. In some cases with smart TV services, after you install a cable network’s sports app, you’ll be asked to verify a numeric code or click a link sent to your email address on file for your smart TV. This is where having a VPN on your router will also help, because both devices will appear to be in the correct location.
  • And remember, browsers can often give away a location despite using a VPN, so be sure you’re using a privacy-first browser to log into your services. We normally recommend Brave.

Why isn’t Mario Kart World a crossover racer? A Nintendo dev says it would have been “incongruous”

by admin June 23, 2025

Having Mario Kart World include a roster of characters from other Nintendo series would have been “incongruous”.

That’s according to Mario Kart World producer Kosuke Yabuki, who recently discussed why the likes of Legend of Zelda’s silent hero Link and Animal Crossing’s Isabelle weren’t part of the game’s line up of racers, as they were in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

The ASMR Switch 2 Unboxing NOBODY Asked For. Watch on YouTube

As spotted by Nintendo Everything, Yabuki told Ouest-France the inclusion of characters from other games in the Mario Kart World universe would have been both “incongruous” and, quite simply, unnecessary.

“It didn’t seem necessary, given everything we could already do with Mario,” Yabuki told the publication (via machine translation). “We inevitably wonder how players will perceive this cast. But there are so many characters and so many costumes that there’s sure to be something for everyone.”

Now, this isn’t to say that Mario Kart World doesn’t include new characters along with the likes of Peach, Bowser, Luigi and other regular faces in the Switch 2’s launch title. It’s just that these characters – such as the Piantas from Sunshine and of course the Moo Moo Meadows Cow – are already part of the Mario universe.

Yabuki said the Mario Kart World team always hoped these characters would “be a good surprise for players”, and the “welcome was so warm that it surprised even us”. As for the developer’s personal favourite racer, well like us the producer has a bit of a soft spot for Cow.

Nintendo’s approach is in contrast to Sega’s forthcoming rival Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, which will include plenty of characters from outside the Sonic universe – including Hatsune Miku, Steve from Minecraft, and Spongebob Squarepants.

If you are still on the fence about giving Mario Kart World a spin, be sure to check out Eurogamer’s review, where our Tom said how the game “offers neat twists on the classic Mario Kart formula”, calling it all “entertaining, snackable, fun”.

Or, if you are already familiar with the bones of Mario Kart World, but need a little hand to get a bit more out of it (like unlocking that infamous Mirror Mode, for example), you can check out our guides. Here is one on the Dash Food locations in Mario Kart World to get you started.

Trump Family Reduces Stake in Crypto Project World Liberty

by admin June 22, 2025

In brief

  • DT Marks DEFI LLC, tied to the Trump family, reduced its stake in World Liberty Financial from 60% to approximately 40%.
  • The change comes amid growing political scrutiny and a Senate investigation into Trump’s crypto ties.
  • U.S. President Donald Trump has benefited politically and financially from his crypto involvement.

The Trump family has quietly reduced its majority stake in World Liberty Financial, according to an update to the company’s legal disclosure section, signaling a potential shift in the Trump involvement in the controversial DeFi project as it faces growing scrutiny from Democratic lawmakers.

First reported by Forbes, DT Marks DEFI LLC—a business entity linked to Donald Trump and certain family members—recently cut its ownership share in the company from 60% to about 40%.

“DT Marks DEFI LLC, an entity affiliated with Donald J. Trump and certain of his family members, owns approximately 40% of the equity interests in WLF Holdco LLC,” the disclosure reads.

WLF Holdco LLC is the sole owner of World Liberty Financial, Inc., the Delaware corporation developing the WLF protocol and governance platform. As recently as March 2025, DT Marks DEFI LLC was listed as holding a 60% stake in WLF Holdco. The 20% reduction in equity is likely the result of a private sale or internal restructuring, though no formal explanation has been provided.

World Liberty Financial did not immediately respond to Decrypt’s request for comment.

Introduced in September 2024, World Liberty Financial is a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol and cryptocurrency company. Since its inception, the company and brand have been tied to the Trump family.

While the disclosure notes that Trump, his relatives, and employees of the Trump Organization do not serve as officers or directors of the firm or its parent company, it confirms that DT Marks DEFI LLC and “certain Trump family members” collectively hold 22.5 billion WLFI tokens. The entity also receives 75% of the token sale proceeds after expenses. In June, Trump reportedly earned $57 million from the sale of World Liberty Financial tokens.

The timing of the ownership change coincides with regulators intensifying scrutiny of World Liberty Financial. The U.S. Congress is currently considering the GENIUS Act, which would establish the first federal regulatory framework for the issuance and use of stablecoins. The Senate passed the bill earlier this week, and Trump has urged the House of Representatives to follow suit quickly.

At the center of the debate is the company’s stablecoin, USD1, which debuted in March on the Ethereum and BNB Chain networks.

In May, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) started an investigation into World Financial Liberty and its ties to the President.

“WLFI’s refusal to answer even the most basic questions about President Trump’s financial entanglements with the company raises serious concerns,” the senator said at the time. “And I will continue demanding transparency for the American people.”

Harry Kane lauds Club World Cup: ‘Loving this tournament’

by admin June 21, 2025

Harry Kane has said that Bayern Munich’s Club World Cup win over Boca Juniors was played amid “one of the best” atmospheres of his career and added that he is “loving this tournament so far.”

The England captain opened the scoring with an 18th-minute strike as the 2-1 victory, played in front of a full Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, saw Bayern become the first team to qualify for the knockout stages.

Argentine football fans are renowned for their passionate support and the atmosphere they can create is considered one of the most intense in world sport.

Boca supporters have made their presence known in Miami with fans gathering on the beach in their thousands and singing in local Walmarts.

Asked if he was surprised by the Boca fans, Kane said: “No, not surprised. I expected them to be loud like they were but it was an incredible atmosphere to be honest. One of the best [atmospheres] of my career. Credit to them but also credit to the Bayern fans. They tried to help us as much as possible but it was hard with all of the Boca fans there. They made it a special night, they won’t go home happy but it was a great game.”

Bayern’s win followed eye-catching victories for South American sides over more fancied European opponents. Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain were shocked by Botafogo before Chelsea came unstuck against Flamengo on Friday.

FIFA’s revamped competition has faced heavy criticism but Kane said he has been enjoying the post-season tournament in the United States.

“I think it’s great to experience different teams and I think you’ve seen in this tournament already the South American teams especially have caused big problems for some of the European teams,” Kane said.

“It shows how big football is worldwide and how good some of these players are. You have to be ready for the next game, the next opportunity. I’m loving this tournament so far and hopefully we can be here for a while.”

Soaring temperatures in the U.S. have been a talking point with Borussia Dortmund planning to rotate their team to cope with the hot conditions they expect on Saturday, with head coach Niko Kovac fearing the impact of the midday sun in Cincinnati.

But Kane insisted playing in the heat is to be expected in summer tournaments.

“I’m not concerned [about the heat]. I think it’s part of football. You have to be able to adapt,” he said. “This is a great experience for me and some of the other England guys who are going to be playing next year in the World Cup. So, you know, something special about these kinds of Club World Cup games and next year will be the same.

“When you come off that pitch and you’re sweating and you’re dripping and you’re cramping and you’ve given everything from the pitch, there’s a special kind of feeling inside, especially when you win. That’s what we have to do.”

Asked for his thoughts on the tournament as a whole, Kane said: “I think, of course, it’s the first ones, so people are a little bit sceptical of what it’s going to be like, but if you’re playing the best teams in the world every four years, it’s going to be a really prestigious tournament in the future.”

Bayern face Benfica in their final group stage game on Tuesday.
