How to Become Anonymous on the Internet: What Works Best?

by admin October 1, 2025

Let’s be real for a moment – every time you’re online, you’re really leaving a path of breadcrumbs that leads straight back to you. And I’m not even talking about your search history (though yeah, that too). I’m talking about everything: the places you go, the videos you view, where you are, what device you’re on and even how long you sit on each page. It’s a little creepy if you think about it, right?

The good news? You don’t have to simply accept this as “the way things are.” There actually is a super simple solution that gets you back in the driver’s seat: Virtual Private Networks, or VPNs for short.

So, What Exactly Is a VPN?

Think of a VPN as your own private tunnel on the information superhighway. Normally, when you’re browsing the internet, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) gets to see what you’re up to. They see when you’re watching videos at 2 AM, what you’re buying online, and what you’re visiting. They can even share this information with advertisers or trade it with third parties.

A VPN changes the game: When you’re on a VPN, it creates an encrypted connection from your computer to a remote server. Your whole internet flow goes through that server, which keeps your true IP address hidden and replaces it with one from the VPN’s location. The result? Your ISP, websites, advertisers and everybody else trying to snoop in on what you’re up to just get encrypted trash instead of your actual data.

Why You Really Need This

Come on, I get it – you might be thinking, “I have nothing to hide, so why do I need to care?” Well, here’s the deal: today, privacy isn’t really about something to hide. It’s about having the right to keep your own stuff, well, business-as-usual.

VPNs protect you in ways you might not even know that you need. Ever connected to a coffee shop or airport Wi-Fi? Those public connections are hackers’ playgrounds. Without a VPN, someone sitting nearby might be able to sniff your passwords, credit card numbers or confidential messages. With a VPN, your data is encrypted and useless to them.

Throw in on top of that, something that’ll probably annoy you: your internet service provider might be slowing down your speeds. Yeah, they actually reduce your connection speed based on what you’re doing online – especially if you’re looking at a lot of video or gaming video games. With a VPN, they can’t see what you’re doing, so they can’t mess with your speeds.

And here’s where VPNs are actually useful – they let you bypass content that’s censored where you are. And by “bypass content,” we’re not just talking about being able to watch the shows from other countries (although that is a definite bonus).

In nations like China and Iran, governments openly censor the net, blocking sites to social media, news sites, and any information they do not want their populace to be privy to. A VPN gives citizens in these regimes access to the open and free internet, opening the window of the world for them that their governments are trying to board up.

But it’s not only about repressive regimes. Even in Western democracies, geographical constraints are everywhere. Journal du Geek explains that PornHub is now inaccessible in France due to new regulatory requirements. In the United States, various streaming platforms, sports broadcasts and websites are inaccessible in certain states as a result of local laws and regulation. It is infuriating because the internet is supposed to be this universal entity, but in reality, it has fragmented along arbitrary borders.

With a VPN, you can use a server located somewhere else in the world and access the internet like you were there in person. Immediately, all those walls come tumbling down, and you feel like you possess the whole open internet experience everyone deserves.

NordVPN: Serious Protection Without the Serious Price Tag

Okay, okay, so you’re positive you want a VPN – great! But what do you get? Let me discuss NordVPN with you, especially because they have a special offer right now that’s really silly. They’re actually offering a 73% discount on their 2-year Basic plan, reducing the month-to-month cost to a staggering $3.09.

And it gets even better: they throw in three months free on top of it, so you get 27 months of protection for the price of 24. Now, they do offer a Plus plan for $3.99 per month that has some extra advantages, but for most people just looking to secure their privacy and have unlimited content, the Basic plan is good enough.

See NordVPN

Best part’s here, though: you essentially get to test it out 100% free. NordVPN offers an unconditional 30-day money-back guarantee on all their plans. Which means, you can join up, use the service for a whole month, and if you’re not satisfied with it for any reason at all, you get a refund. No hassle, no questions asked. Just keep in mind that is reserved for first-time users.

The BioShock movie is still in the works, but scheduling conflicts mean it likely can’t come out before 2027, maybe even later

by admin September 13, 2025

The screen adaptation of BioShock is still in the works at Netflix, but it sounds like we’re going to have a long wait before its release date. The delay is due to director Francis Lawrence’s busy schedule, according to an interview with The Direct. Producer Roy Lee didn’t reveal much about the film, but hinted at a potentially lengthy wait:

“Well, ‘The Long Walk’ became a reality because ‘BioShock’ was delayed for a little bit where we had to do some more script work. And so as the script work is being done, we shot ‘The Long Walk,’ and [Francis Lawrence] was already committed to doing the next ‘Hunger Games’ movie. And so it’s just waiting for him whenever the ‘Hunger Games’ is completed, and the script is just being worked on right now.”

Lee was referring to Sunrise on the Reaping, a Hunger Games prequel focusing on Haymitch Abernathy’s Games. It began filming this summer and is set to release on November 20, 2026. Francis Lawrence directed all four of the previous Hunger Games films, so it’s no surprise he returned for this one. Unfortunately for BioShock fans, that means Lawrence has his hands full for the time being.

Related articles

Filming for a movie like Sunrise on the Reaping can take several months, followed by months of post-production work afterward. As the director, Lawrence will be involved in every step of the creative process through the film’s final edit. So, it’s possible he might not be able to return to BioShock until late next year.

Based on Roy Lee’s comments to The Direct, it sounds like the BioShock movie has a script ready for Francis Lawrence to look at, but there’s still a mountain of work to be done, from casting to filming to editing.

It’s likely the BioShock movie won’t arrive on Netflix for at least a couple more years. However, we also know from Lee’s interview that it sounds like the film will be based on the first BioShock game, so at least the long wait will probably mean we get to see the filmmakers’ take on Rapture.

BioShock film script currently in the works, to be based on first game

by admin September 11, 2025

The script for the BioShock movie is currently being written, with Vertigo Entertainment producer Roy Lee confirming the film adaptation will be based on the first game.

In an interview with The Direct, published on September 9, 2025, Lee told the publication that the BioShock film is “definitely going to be based on the first BioShock game.”

The publication was speaking to Lee about The Long Walk, the upcoming dystopian horror (based on Stephen King’s novel) directed by Francis Lawrence, who is signed on to direct the upcoming BioShock movie.

“The Long Walk became a reality because BioShock was delayed for a little bit, where we had to do some more script work,” Lee revealed to the publication.

“And so as the script work is being done, we shot The Long Walk.”

BioShock’s script is currently being penned by Logan and Blade Runner 2049 writer Michael Green.

Lee went on to reveal that Lawrence, who has directed several of The Hunger Games films, was “already committed” to directing The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which is currently in production in Spain and is due for release in November 2026.

“And so it’s just waiting for him whenever The Hunger Games is completed, and the script is just being worked on right now,” Lee continued.

Take-Two Interactive has been trying to bring its dystopian first-person shooter series to the silver screen for almost two decades.

In 2008, Take-Two announced a deal with Universal Pictures to make a BioShock movie, to be directed by Pirates of the Caribbean’s Gore Verbinski.

But following budget concerns and the loss of two directors for the project, it was ultimately cancelled in 2013.

In 2022, Netflix announced its plans to bring the franchise to the silver screen, with the live-action film to be produced by Vertigo Entertainment and 2K.

In 2024, however, Netflix slashed the movie’s budget to focus on making it a smaller, “more personal” project.

During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Lee explained the BioShock project was being “reconfigured” following a change in leadership at the streaming firm.

“The new regime has lowered the budgets,” Lee said. “So we’re doing a much smaller version… It’s going to be a more personal point of view, as opposed to a grander, big project.”

Batman Arkham Shadow VR sequel in the works, actor confirms

by admin September 5, 2025

Last year, Camouflaj and Oculus Studios released a Batman-flavoured VR release in the form of Arkham Shadows, and it looks like the teams are taking another bite of the apple.

During a recent interview with Culture Combine, which was spotted by UploadVR, Commissioner Gordon’s actor confirmed a sequel is in the works.

Actor Mark Rolston was chatting about his career, and the difference between approaching games such as Blade Runner and Spider-Man 2.

“In the Blade Runner game, I was a voiceover, but for Spider-Man, I do complete motion capture, voice, and everything,” the actor told the publication, before slipping this little nugget of information into the conversation:

“Same thing with the Batman Arkham Shadow VR game. We’re about to start another one of those. I play Commissioner Gordon.”

So, there you have it!

Our Ian rather enjoyed Batman Arkham Shadow in its release last year. “Batman Arkham Shadow can feel rough around the edges at times, but it’s still a more than worthy entry to the Arkham series, and an essential Quest 3 experience,” he wrote in Eurogamer’s four star Batman Arkham Shadow review.

The film will follow the studio’s 2022 film Top Gun: Maverick. “We’re approaching this film with the same disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick, ensuring it meets the exceptionally high standards this franchise and its fans deserve,” continued Ellison.

“I can promise that we are resolute in our mission to deliver a cinematic experience that honours the legacy of this one-in-a-million brand – thrilling longtime fans of Call of Duty while captivating a whole new generation.”

President of Activision Rob Kostich added: “Throughout its history, Call of Duty has captured our imagination with incredible action and intense stories that have brought millions of people together from around the world, and that focus on making incredible Call of Duty games remains unwavering. Call of Duty is ripe for a cinematic adaptation, both for its action-packed setpieces and millions of sales.

It will follow other game adaptations in recent years, including Nintendo’s multiple projects, Sony’s The Last of Us TV show, FromSoftware’s massive Elden Ring, classic Sega racing game OutRun, and horror games like Phasmophobia and The Medium.

Call of Duty movie officially in the works

by admin September 2, 2025

Paramount has agreed a deal with Activision to turn the blockbuster Call of Duty game franchise into a big-budget movie.

Since launching in 2003, Call of Duty has transformed into one of the most successful game titles on the planet.

The many, many CoD sequels and spinoffs have sold more 500 million games worldwide, and those titles boast over 100 million active players across all platforms.

As first-person shooters that lean heavily into war, they’re an obvious fit for a film adaptation, but Hollywood has failed to crack the code… until now.

Call of Duty movie to “expand upon what made the franchise great”

According to Variety, Paramount will “develop, produce, and distribute a live-action feature film,” while the deal also “encompasses the potential for Paramount to expand the CoD universe across film and TV.” Meaning the studio’s plans should play into Hollywood’s current buzz-word: ‘shared universe.’

There are no details about what game or subject the proposed movie will focus on, but those involved have been talking up the deal.

‘These works are vital for the morale of our people,’ co-owner of Ukrainian publishing house declares after Games Workshop ends deal to translate Warhammer novels

by admin August 31, 2025

After years of Ukrainian readers only having access to Warhammer novels via pirated Russian translations, Games Workshop cut a deal with Molfar Comics (who also publish translated versions of manga and World of Warcraft novels) to localize books published under its Black Library imprint. When that contract suddenly ended, Ukrainians who were three books into the Horus Heresy weren’t super happy about it.

As Oleksandr Nevskiy, the co-owner of Molfar Comics, said to The Telegraph, “At a time when Ukraine is at war and we are fighting for our right to exist, having global products available in our native language plays an incredibly important role. These works are vital for the morale of our people, especially our soldiers—many of whom are our readers. We have repeatedly received photos of soldiers reading Warhammer books in trenches or in hospital beds.”

The internet, with typical restraint and consideration, went into full conspiracy mode, suggesting it was clearly a sign of Games Workshop collaborating with the Russian government to undermine the morale of Ukrainian soldiers who wouldn’t be able to go on fighting if they couldn’t find out what happened in the next Ciaphas Cain novel. (It was exactly the same thing that happened in every Ciaphas Cain novel, but you get the point.) This, despite the fact Games Workshop suspended all Warhammer sales in Russia back in 2022.

Related articles

Games Workshop eventually had to respond with an Instagram post saying, “Among all of the many millions of comments and messages we’ve received this week, we’ve noticed a few, let’s say, imaginative accounts doing the rounds.” They went on to clarify that sales of Warhammer miniatures in Ukraine would continue, and that, “Recently we chose not to renew our contract with a Ukrainian publisher who had previously been responsible for localising Black Library novels. We won’t discuss the why. That wouldn’t be right. What we will say is that we thought long and hard about it, and it was done for good reason.”

The post finished by asking for any Ukrainian publishing houses “who match our dedication to quality and service” to contact Games Workshop and discuss a partnership.

Coinbase Team Works 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Crucial New Initiative: Brian Armstrong

by admin August 18, 2025

  • Working hard on building “the everything exchange”
  • Coinbase to go beyond crypto in the US

Brian Armstrong, the chief executive officer of the largest US-based cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase, has made a significant statement for the crypto community.

It seems that Armstrong is copying Elon Musk’s playbook, applying it to Coinbase.

Working hard on building “the everything exchange”

The Coinbase CEO took to his account on the X social media platform to announce that the team continues to work hard on building the “Everything Exchange,” as he referred to the platform he plans to transform Coinbase into.

According to Armstrong, the Coinbase team “surged” in New York, making “progress on the Everything Exchange.” They worked from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day, the CEO stated, adding: “Energy was great.”

The Coinbase team “surged” in New York last week to make progress on the Everything Exchange. 9am to 9pm (and beyond) daily. Energy was great.

Going to ask every team working on a key initiative to schedule a similar surge in Q3.

— Brian Armstrong (@brian_armstrong) August 18, 2025

Coinbase to go beyond crypto in the US

On July 31, CNBC reported that Brian Armstrong was planning to turn Coinbase into an “Everything Exchange”. As part of that plan, Coinbase intends to allow its customers to start trading tokenized real-world assets, stocks, derivatives, early-stage token sales, etc, and launch prediction markets.

The new function of Coinbase will be released within the next few months, according to Max Branzburg, vice president of product at Coinbase. He stated outright that the Coinbase team is building “an exchange for everything.” “Everything you want to trade, in a one-stop shop, on-chain. … We’re bringing all assets onchain — stocks, prediction markets, and more.” That would be the foundation for “a faster, more accessible, more global economy.”

This expansion makes Coinbase a closer rival to the Robinhood app, as well as to Kraken and Gemini exchanges, which have both recently launched tokenized equity offerings for their clients.

Overall, Coinbase is following suit of Elon Musk’s X, which he calls “The Everything App” and which already includes a section for jobs, apart from the social media platform. It also plans to launch a dating section and an internal payments system. In its turn, Musk is copying the Chinese WeChat platform, which used to be a messaging app but now has a lot of other functions, including food delivery, and has grown into a super-app.
