Coinbase Team Works 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Crucial New Initiative: Brian Armstrong

by admin August 18, 2025

  • Working hard on building “the everything exchange”
  • Coinbase to go beyond crypto in the US

Brian Armstrong, the chief executive officer of the largest US-based cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase, has made a significant statement for the crypto community.

It seems that Armstrong is copying Elon Musk’s playbook, applying it to Coinbase.

Working hard on building “the everything exchange”

The Coinbase CEO took to his account on the X social media platform to announce that the team continues to work hard on building the “Everything Exchange,” as he referred to the platform he plans to transform Coinbase into.

According to Armstrong, the Coinbase team “surged” in New York, making “progress on the Everything Exchange.” They worked from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day, the CEO stated, adding: “Energy was great.”

The Coinbase team “surged” in New York last week to make progress on the Everything Exchange. 9am to 9pm (and beyond) daily. Energy was great.

Going to ask every team working on a key initiative to schedule a similar surge in Q3.

Coinbase to go beyond crypto in the US

On July 31, CNBC reported that Brian Armstrong was planning to turn Coinbase into an “Everything Exchange”. As part of that plan, Coinbase intends to allow its customers to start trading tokenized real-world assets, stocks, derivatives, early-stage token sales, etc, and launch prediction markets.

The new function of Coinbase will be released within the next few months, according to Max Branzburg, vice president of product at Coinbase. He stated outright that the Coinbase team is building “an exchange for everything.” “Everything you want to trade, in a one-stop shop, on-chain. … We’re bringing all assets onchain — stocks, prediction markets, and more.” That would be the foundation for “a faster, more accessible, more global economy.”

This expansion makes Coinbase a closer rival to the Robinhood app, as well as to Kraken and Gemini exchanges, which have both recently launched tokenized equity offerings for their clients.

Overall, Coinbase is following suit of Elon Musk’s X, which he calls “The Everything App” and which already includes a section for jobs, apart from the social media platform. It also plans to launch a dating section and an internal payments system. In its turn, Musk is copying the Chinese WeChat platform, which used to be a messaging app but now has a lot of other functions, including food delivery, and has grown into a super-app.

Mini PC ‘violently’ smashed with a sledgehammer, dragged behind a motorbike, and spun in a washing machine – Geekom PC still works after the company’s extreme torture testing

by admin June 25, 2025

Mini PC specialist Geekom has shared a video which shows its latest IT15 model being subjected to unnatural levels of violence. We are accustomed to seeing devices, particularly portable ones, being dropped, crushed, and splashed as part of standard endurance testing. However, this cute little machine, packing up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor 285H processor, endures torture like being spun in a washing machine, being hit by a sledgehammer, extremes of heat and cold, and the indignity of being dragged along the road by a motorbike. The PC survives intact, but with a few grazes, and we see it boot up at the end of the video.

⚠️ Warning: The following content is extremely satisfying.Get your GEEKOM IT15🔗 https://t.co/rJjwsLAbnMGet 10% off with CODE: IT15F—-#GEEKOM #MiniPC #tech #computer #Ultra #TechSolutions #extremechallenge #ExtremeGaming #test #hardware #pcbuild pic.twitter.com/3FXj2m70fdJune 20, 2025

Expand the tweet above to see the video. At the start of the video, the Geekom IT15 is inexplicably carried in a reinforced aluminum flight case, lulling it into a false sense of security, perhaps. Then the horror begins.

A 1.8-ton car runs over the little 0.46-liter NUC-style device at least twice. It is then hung up by a thread and walloped with a baseball bat. Geekom’s digital assassins were intent on whacking the IT15 some more, so they also sledgehammered it as it sat beneath two concrete blocks.

The punishment continued as the IT15 torturers decided to drag the little machine along a tarmac road, pulled by a motorbike at high speed. Just when you think it might end, seeing the device being carried carefully on top of a stack of books, it gets “dropped from height” down concrete steps. Someone in the Geekom team seemed to have then remembered that tests of devices enduring cold and heat were typical ruggedness assessment fare, so we saw the device chilled by sub-zero gases and then subjected to a blowtorch.

After such rough treatment, the IT15 might be due a clean, right? But throwing a mini PC in a washing machine for a “violent spin” probably isn’t advisable – so they did just that. It was a dry wash program, and not for too long, though.

At last, the pummelling of the Geekom IT15 does actually come to an end, and we get a close-up of all its battle scars. Your local used mobile phone emporium might refer to this as ‘Condition A minus.’ After taking it from the washer and plugging it into power and a monitor, the IT15 appears to have weathered all the abuse without affecting its computing ability. The probably inadvisable penultimate caption of the video proudly declares, “It just won’t break,” which some will see as a challenge.

Video shows “serious testing”

We reached out to Geekom regarding its extreme testing of the IT15 to ensure it was genuine. Our contact insisted that the video showed “serious testing,” and that a lot of the product’s rugged nature is due to the ABS shell, which is “cushioned and, together with the sturdy internal metal frame, is particularly robust.” Actually, the firm’s official product pages include some durability claims, such as the device being able to “withstand 200kg of force without deformation,” and the all-metal frame and base adding to its strength.

Beyond being tough, other notable specs of the IT15 include the device’s compact size, and its decent expandability options (an extra M.2 2242 SSD slot, and room for a 2.5-inch SATA drive), plus it offers a broad selection of modern ports for its size.

Geekom’s recently launched IT15 is currently available direct, or from its Amazon store. We note that there’s a $200 coupon available on Amazon US at the time of writing, which brings the top Intel Core Ultra9 285H, 32GB RAM, plus 2TB SSD storage configuration down to $999.

‘Big Balls’ No Longer Works for the US Government

by admin June 24, 2025

Edward “Big Balls” Coristine, one of the first technologists hired as part of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), is no longer working for the federal government, according to multiple sources.

“Edward Coristine resigned yesterday,” a White House official tells WIRED.

Coristine received full-time employment status at the GSA late last month, as reported by WIRED. As of Tuesday afternoon, his Google Workspace account with the General Services Administration (GSA) was no longer active, according to a source with direct knowledge. His name also no longer appears on a White House contact list of current DOGE employees on the federal payroll maintained by a senior administration official, the official says.

In May, Coristine appeared to be attending regular meetings with departments and agencies, including a May 5 meeting with the Commerce Department to discuss Trump’s golden Visa, a May 15 meeting to discuss implementing the DOGE agenda at the military, and a May 22 meeting with the Treasury Department. He was listed on a report regarding the GSA workforce on June 10. That report comes out once a month.

Previously, Coristine was one of a handful of DOGE-affiliated staffers who were occasionally seen at GSA headquarters in Washington, DC. He worked from the sixth floor of the office, which was cordoned off for employees affiliated with DOGE and the agency’s leadership team.

The GSA and Coristine did not immediately respond to requests for comment from WIRED.

When Musk exited government in an official capacity last month, DOGE’s future was uncertain. Musk’s top lieutenant, Steve Davis, president of the Boring Company, another Musk venture, also announced he would leave DOGE with Musk.

Sahil Lavingia, a former DOGE member who WIRED first identified at the Department of Veterans’ Affairs says, “I have heard since Elon and Steve have supposedly departed, they’ve terminated a lot of those that got hired. They’re all still probationary, right? There’s that two-year probationary period. So there’s a good chance that a lot of those people end up getting fired anyway.”

Coristine, according to Lavingia, was one of a small group of technologists who were highly trusted within DOGE and deployed across multiple federal agencies, and given multiple federal laptops. “The core group of pre-inauguration engineers joked about how many laptops they had. It was almost like a competition in the sense to have seven, eight different laptops that they would run around with,” says Lavingia.

During his time in government—a period in which DOGE sought to dismantle large parts of the federal bureaucracy, obtained direct access to sensitive federal payment systems, and worked to join siloed systems together to enable surveillance of people in the US—Coristine appeared at the GSA, Office of Personnel Management, the US Agency for International Development, the Department of Education, and the Small Business Administration.

Coristine, who has gone by the handle “Big Balls” online, is a 19-year-old high school graduate who worked at Neuralink for several months and founded a company called Tesla.Sexy LLC in 2021. The company owns several domains including two registered in Russia, one of which is an AI Discord bot. He also briefly worked for a company founded by reformed blackhat hackers called the Path Network, and a Telegram handle associated with Coristine appears to have solicited a distributed denial of service attack.

Arc System Works Showcase Announced For This Friday

by admin June 24, 2025

Arc System Works, the developer behind Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, and the recently announced Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, is revealing its next projects via its own showcase.

Airing on Friday, June 27 at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET, the Arc System Works Showcase will feature new updates on what’s coming from the popular studio. In addition to providing what the publisher states as the “latest information on various game titles, including completely new titles,” the event will feature the reveal of a new project by Guilty Gear creator Daisuke Ishiwatari. You can check out the showcase once it goes live here.

Though not confirmed, there’s a good chance we’ll see more of  Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, Arc’s superhero 4v4 tag fighter revealed during the PlayStation State of Play earlier this month.  The promising title is slated to launch next year, so here’s hoping it makes an appearance during the Showcase.  Other announced upcoming games that could appear include Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact, launching on July 16, and Double Dragon Revive, launching on October 25.

What do you hope to see at the Arc System Works Showcase? Let us know in the comments!

While Everything Gets Worse, Its Nice That The Switch 2 Just Works

by admin June 13, 2025

Every app, website, and device I use seems to be getting worse and worse. You’ve likely noticed this, too. Shitty AI is being shoved into more products. Features people don’t want are being added to apps that have become monstrosities, chasing trends in order to squeeze out more profits. Searching for stuff online is awful. Buying something sucks. Your fucking toothbrush has an app now. Enshittification is happening and making everything worse. This makes Nintendo’s Switch 2 a very compelling product in 2025.

Nintendo Switch 2 Could Launch With Almost No Reviews

The Nintendo Switch 2 arrived a week ago and has quickly become one of the biggest console launches in history. Despite a high price, a lack of a “BIG” game, and many stores selling out of units shortly after launch, the Switch 2 is a massive success for Nintendo, and people generally seem to like it. That’s not surprising when you realize that, unlike everything else ruined by enshitification, the Switch 2 is just a better version of a thing people liked already.

Nintendo hasn’t added some crappy AI assistant or some ChatGPT widget that lets you talk to Mario. It doesn’t include 300 media apps nobody uses. It won’t ever support some silly AI co-pilot that can “help” you play Overwatch 2. It doesn’t include NFTs or blockchain tools.

Instead, the Switch 2 is just a better version of a video game console you already liked, but now it runs faster, looks better, and boasts a few smart improvements. Its store, while still filled with slop, is faster and snappier than ever. GameChat is great! Nintendo seems to have realized that people love Discord and has built a simple-to-use version of that into the Switch 2 OS that kids and non-techy people can use easily. But beyond that, the Switch 2 is just a better Switch.

Boy, that’s nice, huh? My phone gets more and more annoying with each update, and looking to upgrade to a new phone is a minefield of AI-powered devices with IMAX-capable cameras attached to them. It all sucks so much and nobody wants this shit!

The fact that the Switch 2 is just simply nice to use and better than what came before it shouldn’t be something to celebrate. Yet, in 2025, I’m over the moon about Nintendo’s new console simply because it hasn’t been ruined in the pursuit of profits. It hasn’t been “improved” in the hopes of making the number go up. Business idiots didn’t cram it full of garbage nobody wants. That’s really nice.

When the Switch 2 was revealed, some complained that it was too safe. That the Switch 2 wasn’t innovative enough. And maybe that’s true, but I don’t really care because the Switch 2 is the rare tech product that doesn’t annoy me. $450 is a fair price to pay for an upgraded product that is actually better, faster, and not annoying to use. I’ll gladly pay that in 2025. Though $80 for a game is still wild, come on, Nintendo.

A Hitman co-op mode with Stone and Knight is in the works at IO Interactive

by admin June 7, 2025

Developer IO Interactive is developing a co-op mode for Hitman: World of Assassination.

Announced last night, this mode is still relatively under wraps, but does feature two names you may recognise: Stone and Knight. These two popped up in the Hitman Sniper mode.

On this co-op mode’s release, players will be able to pop into “exciting missions” from the Hitman world with their pal by their side. These missions will “challenge” players to rethink how they approach things now they are going in as one of a pair. Someone once said to me a good friend will always help you hide the bodies, so I guess that is very fitting for this story.

Ian plays Hitman. Watch on YouTube

IO noted it was “early days” for its upcoming Hitman co-op mode, but it would share more news about it all with us “soon”, so stay tuned.

In addition to this little nugget, IO has also announced that Hitman: World of Assassination has now reached the 25m units sold milestone. The developer added the game has registered 80 million players, which takes into account players from World of Assassination, as well as its Free Starter Pack.

“Agent 47 continues to resonate with audiences around the world, proving the enduring appeal of the franchise as it approaches its 25th anniversary,” said IO head Hakan Abrak.

“Everyone at IOI extends its sincere thanks to the global community of players, and we look forward to delivering many more hours of stealth, creativity, and signature assassinations in the years to come.”

Elsewhere in Hitman news, players can now assassinate Le Chiffre from Casino Royale, with actor Mads Mikkelsen reprising his role from the 2006 film.

IO also recently lifted the lid on its upcoming Bond game. Earlier this week, we got a reveal trailer which introduced us to the young Bond at the start of his life as an agent. But, while it may be an origin story, 007: First Light already has plenty of nods to the Bond books and films that came before.

Out of nowhere, ArcSystem Works sends the fighting game genre into chaos as the outlook suddenly changes for Riot's 2XKO

Out of nowhere, ArcSystem Works sends the fighting game genre into chaos as the outlook suddenly changes for Riot’s 2XKO

by admin June 5, 2025

During last night’s PlayStation State of Play, the show concluded with Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. A superhero tag-team fighter from Arc System Works, the community of die-hard fighting game lovers celebrated the announcement, with some making comparisons to Riot Games’ upcoming release: 2XKO

2XKO, itself a tag fighter that has been in development since Radiant Entertainment was acquired by Riot back in 2016 had largely had the tag-fighter space to itself for the foreseeable future, with the exception of the endearing but budget title HunterxHunter NenxImpact.

However, with this announcement, it looks like Riot Games has a real Marvel rival to contend with. Social media was abuzz with excitement for Marvel Tokon. Justin Wong, perhaps North America’s most prominent Marvel vs Capcom player, wrote: “Holy shit MARVEL FIGHTING GAME IS BACK?!”.

If you missed it, check out the Marvel Hokon: Fighting Souls trailer here!Watch on YouTube

Yipes, himself a beloved figure in the professional fighting game scene and a legendary Marvel vs Capcom 2 player, was lost for words. He posted, “!??!?!?!??!?!?!”, an apt measure of the overall feeling following the State of Play.

This reveal brought with it immediate comparisons to 2XKO, due to the unavoidable rivalry between the two games. Former pro player Alioune summed it up with “If « fuck you 2xko » was a game”, whereas one fighting game fan on Twitter reacted by stating: “Game already has a bigger roster than 2xko”.

Indeed in the run up to 2XKO’s release later this year the game has been seen through a more critical lens following recent announcements and play tests. Game director on 2XKO Shaun Rivera revealed in a Discord Q&A earlier this year that 2XKO will have 10 champions at launch, a relatively small number for a tag fighter. That game currently has seven announced fighters, whereas Marvel Hokon blasted out the gate with eight on display.

Congrats to Marvel, ArcSys and Playstation on the Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls reveal. The game looks amazing and I can’t wait to play it.

However rather gritting their teeth or keeping thoughts close to their chest, several members of the 2XKO development team praised the new game. Unsurprising, as the team is composed of several former professional fighting game players. Rivera congratulated the Marvel Hokon team on the reveal: “Congrats to Marvel, ArcSys and Playstation on the Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls reveal. The game looks amazing and I can’t wait to play it.”

Ben Forbes, 2XKO’s editor-in-chief, shot out an initial “oh fuck”, before following up with: “sorry i was in meetings and had to pay attention MARVELLLLLLLLLLLLLL I’M THERE DAY ONE IRON MAN LOOKS SO SICK AAAAAAAAAA also star lord is dante???? LET’S FUCKING GOOOOOOOO”.

All in all it appears to be a “two cakes” situation, with two somewhat similar games clashing in the future resulting in more options for those who love diving deep into 2D brawls. As Wong puts it: “Too many fighting games what a time to be a fighting game fan”.

If there are any companies catching strays right now, it’s actually Capcom. The developer responsible for the Marvel vs Capcom series up until the poorly received Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. Folks reacted to Marvel taking the IP to another company with the sort of humour you’d imagine. Take Evo champion Sonicfox, who posted the following image:

Ultimately Marvel Hokon: Fighting Souls has made the next year or so dead interesting. Whether Riot Games can capture the hearts and minds with a live service approach, or Marvel Hokon: Fighting Souls can cut itself a slice of the pie with some of its own boundary-pushing twists on the genre, is something the two will have to fight over.

Marvel and Arc System Works announce Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

by admin June 5, 2025

Marvel Games and Arc System Works are creating an original new fighting game with Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, a 4v4 tag-fighter. Arc showed off the new game during Sony’s State of Play event on Wednesday, with a hype teaser trailer showing off the gorgeous game.

Anime interpretations of characters such as Iron Man, Captain America, Ms. Marvel, Storm, Star-Lord, Ghost Rider, Spider-Man, and Doctor Doom are seen in the clip fighting with over-the-top attacks and finishers. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will be released for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC in 2026.

The 2.5D fighter is a new direction for Marvel fighting games, as Marvel’s heroes and villains have historically been associated with Capcom.

Capcom and Marvel first worked together in 1993, with the release of the beat-’em-up game The Punisher. The game’s success led to a fruitful relationship between the two companies throughout the ’90s, with iconic titles like Marvel Super Heroes (1995), X-Men vs Street Fighter (1996), and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter (1997). This series of games kick started the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise, which yielded four titles, with the last game being the commercial failure that was 2017’s Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite — a game devoid of X-Men or any other character owned by 20th Century Fox at the time.

Capcom and Marvel most recently worked together on 2024’s Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics. The move made fans believe that a potential fourth MvC game was on the way, and while it still could happen, it appears Marvel has other plans for its fighting game endeavors.

EA's Black Panther game reportedly cancelled and studio closed, resulting in more layoffs
Game Reviews

Despite Black Panther cancellation, EA confirms it still has “at least three” Marvel games in the works

by admin May 29, 2025

Following EA’s decision to pull the plug on its Black Panther game and close the studio making it, the publisher has insisted the move doesn’t reflect a change to its partnership with Marvel, and confirmed it still has “at least three” additional Marvel games in development.

Little had been revealed of EA’s Black Panther game since its announcement in 2023, and word of its cancellation – alongside yet more layoffs at the company – arrived earlier this week. Commenting on the decision to end development in an email to employees, EA Entertainment president Laura Miele said the move would help the publisher “sharpen our focus and put our creative energy behind the most significant growth opportunities”.

Miele also stressed developer EA Motive’s Iron Man game was unaffected, but Black Panther’s cancellation – which comes as the publisher continues a planned retreat away from “future licensed IP” – had some commentators wondering if the company’s previously announced three-game deal with Marvel could be wrapping up prematurely.

Now, however, EA has confirmed to IGN that not only is the deal alive and well, the company is still working on “at least three” Marvel games following Black Panther’s termination. “The multi-title, long-term relationship between Marvel Games and EA… remains strong,” an EA spokesperson told the publication. “Development of our console and PC titles, beginning with Marvel’s Iron Man, is led by Motive Studios.”

Black Panther’s cancellation and subsequent job cuts follow a string of similar incidents at EA this year. In April, the company laid off more than 300 employees, with Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi studio Respawn Entertainment losing around 100 staff. At the same time, EA cancelled a number of in-development projects – reportedly including a new Titanfall game – as part of what it called a “continued focus on our long-term strategic priorities”. Still more layoffs were confirmed last month, following EA’s decision to end its licensing partnership with the WRC.

A second Black Panther project unconnected with EA – Skydance Games’ Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, from Uncharted writer Amy Hennig – was recently delayed into next year.

Hideo Kojima casually reveals a Death Stranding anime is in the works

by admin May 28, 2025

A Death Stranding anime is in the pipeline.

The news was confirmed by the game’s creator Hideo Kojima, who when discussing the upcoming live-action Death Stranding film with Vogue Japan, casually slipped in that an anime adaption is also in the works.

8 Things You Need To Know About Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. Watch on YouTube

“I am currently working with A24 on a live-action film adaptation of Death Stranding,” Kojima said (translated by VGC). “When it comes to adapting games into visual media, there are works like The Last of Us, which stays true to the original storyline, and films like The Super Mario Bros Movie which are more of a service to fans of the game.

“While these works have their own merits, as a film enthusiast, I want to pursue the expressive potential of cinema. I aim to create a Death Stranding that can only be realised through film, one that could win awards at festivals like the Cannes Film Festival or the Venice Film Festival. In fact, we are also currently working on an anime adaptation.”

So, there you have it! One Death Stranding anime coming up, although for now we don’t know when.

As for the film adaptation, Kojima announced his company was partnering with A24 in December 2023. A24 is the production and distribution company behind the likes of Everything Everywhere All At One and Hereditary, so it sounds like a good match for Kojima.

More recently, it was reported A Quiet Place: Day One’s Michael Sarnoski was attached to write and direct the Death Stranding adaptation.

But, while all of this is going on behind the scenes, we have Death Stranding’s sequel releasing via PS5 next month, on 25th June.

“Death Stranding 2 is clearly a labour of love, filled with carefully balanced gameplay systems, exceptional visuals, and extraneous details and secret scenes,” our Ed wrote in Eurogamer’s Death Stranding 2 preview. “I still don’t know why we shouldn’t have connected, but in this instance I’m glad I did.”
