Elden Ring Nightreign matchmaking not working

by admin May 30, 2025

Elden Ring. Ooohhh, Elden Ring. It’s back with Nightreign, a multiplayer spin-off of the FromSoftware classic, which is both a blessing and a curse.

Elden Ring: Nightreign is a blessing because it spins the roguelike genre with FromSoftware flavoring and allows you to play Elden Ring with friends, but a curse because you need functional online servers to play it properly. This is a common occurrence in online games, and Nightreign is susceptible to these same ills.

Here are a few things to try if you’re having issues with Elden Ring Nightreign matchmaking.

How to fix Elden Ring Nightreign matchmaking not working

Image via Bandai Namco

Restart your game

A common fix for Elden Ring Nightreign’s matchmaking being wonky is to fully restart the game. This sometimes reboots the title into triggering the multiplayer servers and getting the game back online. And as always, double check your internet connection to make sure the problem isn’t on your end before trying to queue again.

This has happened to me multiple times where I would try over and over again to select LOG IN for multiplayer, but the issue would not go away until I fully closed and restarted the game again.

Make sure you’re queued for multiplayer

Screenshot by Destructoid

In the game, make sure you have multiplayer and not singleplayer selected. Also, go to the Settings menu, then Network, and for Launch Setting, make sure Play Online is selected. Turning on Perform Matchmaking under Cross-Region play will also help with matchmaking times.

Check Elden Ring server status

Elden Ring Nightreign servers may be having issues if you can’t play multiplayer. Websites like DownDetector can sometimes track reports of server problems, but Nightreign doesn’t have a page set up for it just yet, so options are limited to following accounts like @ELDENRING or @BandaiNamcoUS for more info. Bandai Namco’s support page is another option.

Play a solo run

Screenshot by Destructoid

If the servers are struggling, you still have the option to play the game solo. In Roundtable Hold, select Commence Expedition, then tab over to Matchmaking Settings. At the bottom of the menu, under Expedition Type, select Single Player. When this is selected, you will set out on an expedition on your own without needing to matchmake.

Wait it out

Unfortunately, sometimes the best solution for matchmaking errors is to come back and try after a few hours, or until an update has been deployed. Server issues in online games are a plague but they still happen in 2025 and there’s sometimes not much we can do about it besides touch some grass.

Kojima Productions is working on an anime adaptation of Death Stranding

by admin May 29, 2025

Hideo Kojima has confirmed that an anime based on his Death Stranding game is in development.

In an interview with Vogue Japan, Kojima talked about the live-action movie based on his game, Death Stranding, and also confirmed work on an animated adaptation was similarly underway.

“I am currently working with A24 on a live-action film adaptation of Death Stranding,” Kojima said (translated by VGC). “When it comes to adapting games into visual media, there are works like The Last of Us, which stay true to the original storyline, and films like The Super Mario Bros Movie, which are more of a service to fans of the game.

“While these works have their own merits, as a film enthusiast, I want to pursue the expressive potential of cinema,” he added. “I aim to create a Death Stranding that can only be realised through film, one that could win awards at festivals like the Cannes Film Festival or the Venice Film Festival. In fact, we are also currently working on an anime adaptation.”

A24 and Kojima Productions, led by Hideo Kojima, announced they would be teaming up to produce a live-action Death Stranding movie back in December 2023. As yet there’s no concrete release details.

WhatsApp is working on an easier way to log out

by admin May 29, 2025

WhatsApp is developing a solution for users to take a break from the messaging service without nuking their account data. A new “Logout [internal]” option spotted in the WhatsApp 2.25.17.37 beta release by Android Authority presents users with the choice to sign out on their primary WhatsApp device while either retaining or erasing their app data and preferences.

For all intents and purposes, the only way that users can currently sign out of WhatsApp’s mobile app is to either wipe the app data from Android device settings or delete WhatsApp entirely on iOS. Linked devices running the web and desktop app versions of WhatsApp make it far easier by comparison, providing a clear log out button under the user profile.

The new Logout button is located in WhatsApp’s user settings below the account deletion button. The “Erase all Data & preferences” option does exactly that, according to Android Authority, while the “Keep all Data & preferences” option is better for taking some temporary respite from the service, or for users without dual-SIM devices who need to switch accounts, as the account will be exactly as it was left when you sign back in.

It isn’t clear when (or if) this developmental feature will be rolled out to the public, or if it will be available on both Android and iOS, given each currently has a different logout process. We have asked Meta for more information.

With Super Earth on the line, Helldivers 2’s developed a glitch that’s stopping speedy-inputting players’ stratagems from working, but Arrowhead says it’ll be fixed “ASAP”

by admin May 28, 2025

Uh oh, with the battle for Super Earth in its critical final phase, Helldivers 2’s developed a pesky glitch that really looks to be hampering players’ efforts to hold off the Illuminate. Stratagems inputted rapidly aren’t deploying on cue, and Arrowhead says a fix is coming “ASAP”.

As I mentioned, the timing of this becoming an issue is really, really bad. The divers are right in the middle of trying to stop an apparently once in a century invasion of their home planet from wiping out every last mega city. Oof.

As showcased by multiple exasperated players over on the game’s subreddit, following the deployment of yesterday’s patch, rapidly inputting the button combos that trigger stratagems is resulting in them not being deployed.

It seems you can still get them to roll out if you press the arrows a bit more slowly, but given a lot of the stuff you’re calling in – from air support to the deployment of ammo and stim restocking stations – is the kind of thing you’ll want to be activated as soon as you request it mid-firefight, folks are understandably irate.

“It’s the first time a bug on this game actually made me want to stop playing,” one frustrated player wrote, “Not only that, but it’s something that affects a CORE MECHANIC of the game, why do they keep green lighting patches without at least testing if the core mechanics are working fine?”

The good news is that Arrowhead knows about the issue and is on the case. “We are aware of the stratagem input glitch and we are currently testing a fix and intend to put one out ASAP,” community manager Katherine ‘Baskinator’ Baskin has just announced in HD2’s Discord server, “We will let you know when it’s ready!

So, all you can do is try and hang in there until it arrives – and to be fair, other MOs affected by major tech issues didn’t consign the Helldivers to inevitable defeat as far as I remember, so all isn’t necessarily lost.

Has this stratagem glitch impacted your efforts to help hold Super Earth? Let us know below!

After Rogue Trader proved so popular, Owlcat is working on another Warhammer 40k CRPG: Dark Heresy

by admin May 24, 2025

Owlcat Games has announced another Warhammer 40K CRPG, titled Warhammer 40,000: Dark heresy. Announced during today’s Warhammer Skulls livestream, it’s in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

This new game will take you to a particularly interesting corner of the Warhammer 40K universe, the Tyrant Star, as you and a party of various distinct characters. This includes a Catachan Guardsman (think Rambo), an Eldar, and even a Kroot. Hyjinx will, I’m sure, ensue. The game will also be fully voiced, which is a very expensive and fantastic addition to Owlcat’s arsenal of games. Night Lords are getting some love too, which is rad.

In addition, Owlcat Games has announced next stage of its DLC support for Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader, including the second story expansion Lex Imperialis which introduces the Imperiums very own space cops: The Adeptus Arbites in 15-hours of new narrative contnet. It comes with a selection of companion pets to go alongside the update, including a lovable cyber mastiff. Love it.

There’ll also be a season 2 of DLC support. This includes an adventure into one of Trazyn the Infinite’s vaults, and a harrowing journey into the Processional of the Damned voidship graveyard. As is the norm with Owlcat games, Rogue Trader is getting a better and better with every tweak, update, and sweep of bug fixes. If you’ve not played it yet, it might be a good chance to get it now, especially given the 50% discount it has on Steam right now.

Ubisoft says it’s working on new ‘prestigious AAA’ Rayman game

by admin May 21, 2025

Ubisoft appears to be bringing Rayman back in a new AAA experience, based on job listings that call for talent to join the development team. Studio Ubisoft Milan recently posted job listings searching for a 3D gameplay animator and a senior game designer to be “involved in the production of a prestigious AAA title for the Rayman brand.”

It’s unclear whether the “prestigious AAA title for the Rayman brand” description denotes a stand-alone Rayman game or a crossover title, à la Mario + Rabbids, a spinoff of the Rayman franchise. Polygon has contacted Ubisoft for comment regarding the new Rayman game, and will update when the company responds.

One job listing says that the 3D gameplay animator will be responsible for “[creating] high-quality character animation that captures nuanced emotional states and personality, develop and maintain a consistent animation style that defines the game’s visual identity, collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to integrate animations seamlessly into gameplay mechanics, and iterate on character animation systems, pushing the boundaries of technical and artistic expression.”

Meanwhile, the calling for the senior game designer requires the new hire to “pitch, design and prototype core game systems, [implement] approved designs within the editor, create and maintain design documentation, including feature specification and implementation guidelines, contribute to the handling, gameplay, and mechanics setup, including data creation, collaborate with the team to ensure the implementation of systems into actual gameplay, and maintaining the overall balance between multiple gameplay systems.”

The last proper mainline Rayman title, Rayman Legends, arrived in 2013 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, and PlayStation Vita. The game was re-released in 2017 for Nintendo Switch as Rayman Legends Definitive Edition.

Update: When reached for comment, Ubisoft provided us with this statement: “The project is still in its early stages, and we will share more details later.”

A studio gutted by Embracer have come back to life and are working on a new RPG

by admin May 21, 2025

One of the many game studios smashed to pieces by Embracer Group has come back to life. Campfire Cabal, which was seemingly shut down in 2023 as part of their parent corporation’s scorched earth “restructuring” policy, have crawled out of the grave to announce they’re still around and, in fact, “never stopped working”. They’ve been making a new game in the Expeditions series of historical RPGs, and have been given “the green light to scale back up and transition into full production.”

“We are finally ready to reveal that Campfire Cabal was never shut down,” say the studio in a post on their website. What happened, they say, is that the THQ-owned studio were ordered to close by Embracer two years ago. But some agreement was reached to keep the company going with a reduced headcount, and they instead cut an unknown number of employees from payroll.

“Though we did have to say goodbye to many of our colleagues, the studio survived and a compact team continued the project we had started in 2022. At the end of March of 2025, we received the green light to scale back up and transition into full production.”

That project is a new game in the Expeditions series of RPGs, which includes the classical centurion stomping of Expeditions: Rome, the top-down shield-battering of Expeditions: Viking, and gunpowdery land-grabbing of Expeditions: Conquistador. The studio aren’t saying much more about the new game, though. Only that it’ll be “set in a new period of our history and in a new part of the world for the series”. Expeditions: Mongol, anyone? Expeditions: Pirate? Expeditions: Islamic Golden Age? I guess we’ll find out.

Expeditions: Rome had some repetitive quirks but was a “seriously good – and lovingly detailed – romp through centurion times,” said Nate in our review. And Expeditions: Conquistador was called “very fine” by Adam, who wrote in his review that some parts were a chore, but “the focus on stories and characters means that there is almost always at least one interesting plot on the boil”.

You should know, however, that Campfire Cabal aren’t the original studio who made the older Expeditions games. That would be Logic Artists, who were subsumed and digested by blockchain bullshit peddlars Dynasty Studios. But the Cabal have since become custodians of the series under rights-holders THQ. As with many creative studios, it’s a bit of a Ship of Theseus situation, somewhat complicated by a round of layoffs and this subsequent reappearance. We’ll have to wait and see how the next entry carries the torch.

Even if you aren’t that interested in the RPGs, the “revival” of a seemingly shuttered studio is interesting in a wider sense. It could be seen as a hopeful sprout of green emerging from a blackened earth laid bare by years of seemingly endless layoffs. Or it could simply be the re-emergence of a scarred and injured body from a bloody-watered moat, a studio bravely limping on in spite of the brutal overlord that threw them in there, alongside a bunch of other bodies.

THQ Nordic studio that was set to be closed in 2023 somehow escaped the Embracer death spiral and is now working on a new RPG

by admin May 20, 2025

This is a bit of a weird one: Two years after announcing its planned closure in the aftermath of the Embracer Group’s $2 billion implosion, Campfire Cabal revealed today that it “was never shut down” at all, and that it is in fact working on a new addition to the Expeditions series of historical RPGs.

“If you follow the insider news, you are aware that it’s been a rough couple of years in the game industry,” the studio wrote. “Investment dried up, studios shut down, countless developers lost their jobs, and games were cancelled left and right.”

That’s putting it mildly. A quick catch-up on how we got here: Campfire Cabal was founded in September 2022 under Embracer’s THQ Nordic label to “focus on high-quality, narrative-driven RPGs.” But less than a year later a massive investment deal fell through at the last minute, and Embracer’s wings were suddenly and brutally clipped: Hundreds of people were laid off (although none of the executives responsible for the mess, of course) and numerous studios closed, including—apparently—Campfire Cabal.

You may like

“It is no secret that Embracer Group has recently entered restructuring,” creative director Jonas Wæver wrote in August 2023. “As part of this restructuring process, THQ Nordic has been told to close Campfire Cabal. This decision was not related to the work we’ve been doing at the studio but was made from a purely financial standpoint.”

Wæver said at the time that studio management and THQ Nordic “have not given up on Campfire Cabal,” and that “we are still pursuing our options for finding a good resolution to this situation,” although to my reading that came off almost entirely as forced optimism, especially given that his announcement was literally entitled “Studio Closure.” And yet, here we are.

“Though we did have to say goodbye to many of our colleagues, the studio survived and a compact team continued the project we had started in 2022. At the end of March of 2025, we received the green light to scale back up and transition into full production,” Campfire Cabal wrote today.

“We are extremely grateful that there were people within the group who fought to keep us alive through the turmoil, and that we can now emerge on the other side with renewed vigour.”

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Campfire Cabal also finally confirmed today that it’s working on a new Expeditions RPG, something previously assumed but never officially announced, and that it was responsible for a surprise Expeditions: Rome patch that dropped in November 2024. Details weren’t shared but, like previous games in the series, “it’s set in a new period of our history and in a new part of the world.”

Naughty Dog working on second game alongside Intergalactic, Neil Druckmann confirms

by admin May 20, 2025

It feels like we’ve only just been introduced to Naughty Dog’s sci-fi action-adventure Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, but studio boss Neil Druckmann has now confirmed there’s a second game in development at the studio.

Druckmann shared the news in conversation with the Press X to Continue podcast, explaining that alongside Intergalactic – where’s he’s serving as writer and creative director – “there’s another game that’s being worked on at Naughty Dog where I am more of a producer role.”

“And I get to mentor and watch this other team, and give feedback and be, like, the executive in the room,” he continued. “I enjoy all those roles, and the fact that I jump between one to the next, it makes my job very exciting and always feeling fresh. I’m never bored.”

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was unveiled in December.Watch on YouTube

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard multiple games are in development at Naughty Dog; the studio said it had “more than one ambitious, brand-new single player game” in the works back in 2023, when it announced the cancellation of The Last of Us Online. Druckmann’s latest statement is, however, the first confirmation since then that multiple projects are still underway.

As to what this second project might be, Druckmann offered no hints, but it’s possible it’s being helmed by Uncharted: The Lost Legacy director Shaun Escayg – who rejoined Naughty Dog back in 2021 after serving as creative director on Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel Avengers.

Druckmann has, of course, been teasing a third The Last of Us game in recent years, but he seemingly backtracked on that in March, telling fans, “Don’t bet on there being more.” For now, his main focus appears to be Intergalactic, which is currently expected to arrive in 2027. And while details on the game are currently limited, Druckmann recently named another actor who’s been cast in Intergalactic after their appearance in The Last of Us’ television show.
