Apple’s iPhone 17 Event Is Happening Sept. 9. How to Watch

Apple’s annual fall iPhone launch event is just around the corner. Last week, the company sent out invites for its fall keynote, which is slated for Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. PT. Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup, which could include a slimmer version of the phone, as well as the Apple Watch Series 11 and the AirPods Pro 3.

The invite shows the title “Awe dropping,” with a glowing Apple logo that seems to reference Siri’s colorful glow. There’s also an interactive element when you view the invite on Apple.com. With a finger (phone or tablet) or a mouse/trackpad pointer (computer), you can move across the logo and watch the colors go from a cool blue to a vivid orange, possibly evoking the Liquid Glass design element in iOS 26, which exhibits light-bending qualities across apps and functions. How to watch Apple’s iPhone 17 reveal

Technically, Apple has yet to confirm the iPhone 17, but the company’s fall event is where it typically unveils its latest handsets. 

You can tune into the iPhone 17 event live by watching the official livestream on the Apple website or via the livestream on Apple’s YouTube channel. Those streams are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET on Sept. 9, 2025. CNET’s reporters will also be on the ground and bringing you all the updates. 

What might Apple be cooking up?

Rumors for the upcoming slate of iPhones have been plentiful. Stealing the spotlight is the supposed iPhone 17 Air, which could follow in the footsteps of Samsung’s sleek Galaxy S25 Edge and have a slim profile and lightweight design. The Pro model could get a scratch-resistant antireflective display and an 8x telephoto lens, and the Pro Max could pack a bigger battery. The baseline iPhone 17 could also boast a higher refresh rate. It’s possible that all the phones may include an Apple-developed 5G modem called the C1 chip, which debuted on the iPhone 16E, as well as in-house Wi-Fi chips. 

We also expect to learn more about the public rollout of iOS 26 later this fall. The new operating system features a Liquid Glass interface that brings a more transparent, lens-like look to the iPhone and other Apple devices. The Camera app also gets a more minimalistic design, Messages lets you create polls in group chats and a new screening tool can better detect spam texts. Key Economic Events to Watch This Week for Bitcoin

Bitcoin extended last week’s correction, closing the month on a negative note, with experts awaiting key macroeconomic data that could shape the U.S. Federal Reserve’s upcoming rate cut decision.

The spotlight is on the trifecta of jobless claims, U.S. productivity, and the August jobs report as the Fed faces conflicting data points with rising inflation and a weakening jobs market.

“The Fed is walking a tightrope,” Kurt S. Altrichter, founder of Ivory Hill Wealth Advisory, said in an X post on Sunday. Cutting rates “too soon risks reigniting 1970s-style inflation,” while holding them steady could “trigger a recession” by breaking the labor market, Altrichter added. 



The pressure on Chair Jerome Powell, as a result, is immense, making this week’s data releases more critical than usual.

All eyes are now on Thursday’s initial jobless claims, which track new applications for unemployment benefits. 

While the consensus forecast of 230,000 claims aligns with the prior week’s 229,000, a reading above this threshold would signal a further softening of the labor market and add significant pressure on the Fed to consider slashing interest rates.

Following closely on the same day is the final revision of U.S. Productivity and Unit Labor Costs.

The preliminary Q2 2025 productivity growth is set at +2.4% quarter-over-quarter annualized, with unit labor costs at +1.6%, down from the first quarter’s 6.9%, according to the August report. 

A downward revision in productivity or an upward revision in unit labor costs would raise concerns about persistent inflationary pressures, as higher labor costs per unit of output could signal wage-driven price increases. 

Friday’s Unemployment Rate and Nonfarm Payrolls forecasts peg the unemployment rate at 4.3%, up from July’s 4.2%, with payrolls adding 75,000 jobs, up slightly from July’s 73,000 and wages up 0.3% month-over-month.

“We expect payrolls to come in below consensus, around 40,000–60,000 versus 75,000 expected, with unemployment likely rising to 4.3%” Xu Han, director of Liquid Fund at HashKey Capital, told Decrypt.

He cautioned that hiring is weakening gradually, but the markets may be “underestimating the risk of larger layoffs ahead,” a scenario that could push the Fed toward not just a single 25-basis-point cut in September, but “a series of cuts beyond” into late 2025. 

This perspective is counterintuitive as it suggests that a weaker growth and employment report might not be a negative for Bitcoin. 

Instead, it could provide the clarity investors need on the Fed’s rate path, acting as a green light for risk assets like Bitcoin by boosting expectations of looser monetary policy and increased liquidity.

Regardless, experts remain cautious of Bitcoin due to bearish September seasonality. 

“As we enter a more volatile September—typically the weakest seasonal month—with Bitcoin trading near a fragile equilibrium, we recommend focusing on the medium short-term holder cost basis,” Han said.

Bitcoin ended August with a 6.47% loss and is currently trading at $107,500, according to CoinGecko data.

According to the lawsuit, Shi worked as a Sensor System Architect for the Apple Watch from January 2020 to June 2025, but was seeking employment with Oppo as early as April 2025. Apple claimed that its former employee didn’t disclose that he was leaving to join Oppo and instead said he was going back to China to look after his elderly parents and didn’t have any plans to find a new job. However, the lawsuit said that Shi “set up and attended dozens of one-on-one meetings” with Apple Watch team members to learn about their work on “optical sensors, temperature sensors, and ECG sensors.”

In the lawsuit, Shi allegedly downloaded 63 files from one of Apple’s protected folders and transferred the material to a USB drive before searching the internet for “how to wipe out [a] macbook” and “can somebody see if I’ve opened a file on a shared drive?” Along with these claims, Apple said in the lawsuit that Shi sent a message to his future Oppo employers that he would “collect as much information as possible” about Apple’s health-sensing technologies.

Oppo has since provided a statement to MacRumors about Apple’s lawsuit, claiming that it has “found no evidence establishing any connection between these allegations and the employee’s conduct during his employment at OPPO.” The company statement also said that OPPO has not “misappropriated Apple’s trade secrets.”

It’s not the first time that Apple has taken legal action against one of its former employees. Earlier this summer, the company sued a design engineer, alleging that he stole trade secrets about the Vision Pro and shared them with his new employer, Snap.

The US Open broke records in 2024 by offering the largest purse in tennis history. The final Grand Slam tournament of 2025 is upping the ante this year.

The 2025 US Open will be the first tennis event to reach $90 million in total player compensation, topping the $75 million at stake last summer. The total marks a 20% increase. Reigning men’s and women’s singles champions Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka will look to defend their crowns in New York and take home a respective winning share of $5 million.

Binge-worthy British crime drama Unforgotten returns to US TV screens this month, with Sinéad Keenan and Sanjeev Bhaskar resuming their roles as veteran detectives Jessica James and Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan in what has been described as the show’s most grisly season yet.

The postseason tournament begins this weekend at TCO Stadium in Minneapolis with the quarterfinals. The Whipsnakes used different strategies in their two games against him this season. In the first, he played the role of playmaker, with one goal and seven assists in Philly’s win; in the second, he scored four goals but had zero assists and Maryland took the victory.

Carolina goalie Blaze Riorden is the best goalie in PLL history — and he has the numbers to back that up. His 202 saves are well ahead of second-place Jesse Schwartzman and Dillon Ward (both with 135).

Chaos rookies Owen Hiltz and Jackson Eicher have been rotating at attack and midfield based on which side of the field Carolina is attacking.
