Praise the Omnissiah, Warhammer 40,000; Mechanicus 2 just got a new gameplay trailer, featuring a short glimpse at a new faction

by admin May 24, 2025

A gameplay trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2 has just been revealed during today’s Warhammer Skulls event, and it features a special surprise for fans of the newer era of the 40k narrative. The Leagues of Votann, the newest faction added to the tabletop game, are making their video game debut.

This new trailer, which you can watch below, looks like a fancier and shiner update of the first game (which makes sense). Characters present in the first game are making a return including all of your advisors, and you’ll be battling against the Necron once again on Hekateus IV.

Check out the Mechanicus 2 gameplay trailer here!

As for the Leagues of Votann, we see them represented with various units, including Hearthkyn (AI comrades), Beserks, and standard warriors. It’s not clear yet what role they’ll play in the narrative, it seems as though whether or not they’re friend of foe is going to be a major mystery going into the game, but it’s cool to see them get some love in Warhammer’s continued push into the video game space.

Mechanicus 2 is in development right now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and it set to release at some point later this year. No exact release date has been revealed quite yet, so you’ll have to hang in there until more info drops. Supremacy: Warhammer 40,000 is bringing a Grimdark spin to the War Sim series

by admin May 23, 2025

Supremacy: Warhammer 40,000 has just been revealed at the Warhammmer Skulls event. Developed by Stillfront, the game is a Warhammer spin on the Supremacy epic strategy game, in-development for PC, iOS, and Android.

The game was revealed with a fancy cinematic trailer, in which we can see the four factions players will be able to control hashing it out on the battlefield. Space Marines, Astra Millitarium, Chaos Space Marines and Orks will be playable in planet-wide grand battle strategy. There’s no release date for the game yet, so you’ll have to hunker down and wait for that tasty bit of info. However, you can pre-register now on iOS and Android.

The game will allow you to take part in either 30 or 64-player matches, as you handle economy, the production of military units, territorial management, and diplomacy with other players on the map. Like the Supremary game Stillfront made before, these games can take a substantial amount of real-world time, which hopefully means you’ll get a long-term fix of planet-wide far future warfare.

In a press release for Supremacy: Warhammer 40,000, senior product manager Hinrich Voelksen stated the following, “The team here working on Supremacy: Warhammer 40,000 are thrilled to have unveiled our upcoming title today! We’re passionate and determined to create a free-to-play grand strategy experience authentic to the rich lore of Warhammer 40,000. A game with the depth and complexity that fans of the strategy genre seek, optimised for mobile and also available to download for PC. We can’t wait to reveal more with players soon.”

Warhammer 40,000 Darktide is getting a playable space cop, and a trusty cyber dog

by admin May 23, 2025

Fatshark has revealed the next class for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, as part of today’s Warhammer Skulls event. The Adeptus Arbites – essentially Warhammer 40K’s version of space police – is getting some representation, bringing with them a trusty cyber mastiff companion.

You’ll be bale to play it yourself on June 23 across all platforms, available to buy for $11.99 or your regional equivilent. The class is customizable with over 80 talent nodes, which should allow for a bunch of player expression. It also comes with new weapons in the form of a shotgun, assault shielf and shotpistol, and the dominator maul.

You’ll also be able to tweak with the look and sound of the Arbites of course. It has three personalities to choose from, as well as six voice lines to make your own.

In addition, Darktide is getting a bit of a narrative overhaul. Right now, if you play the game, it can be a little tricky to get a steady narrative line given the fact you can kind of jump around the story through different matches. On June 23, alongside the new class, the game is getting a improved narrative experience. This comes in the form of a curated mission path that players can journey through, introudcing key characters and events in order.

The difficulty system is also getting tweaked! Players will now be able to unlock higher difficulties by demonstrating skill, rather than just levelling up. By completing a number of missions cleared at your current level, you cna steadily proceed to more challenging content.

Finally, starting today, a special event is coming to Darktide. Nurlge Totems will start popping up across different missions, and by destroying them players can make the mission a touch more challenging, but earn some extra prizes.

What are your thoughts on this new class and curated narrative experience? Let us know below!

Warhammer 40,000’s space dwarfs will make their videogame debut in turn-based tactics sequel Mechanicus 2 this year

by admin May 23, 2025

When Games Workshop first released sci-fi miniatures for Warhammer 40,000 in the 1980s the line included space dwarfs, also called squats, with a hairy biker aesthetic—like if the forgemasters of trad fantasy evolved into greasy spaceship mechanics. Never as popular as space elves or space orks, by the second edition of Warhammer 40,000 they were written out of the setting as a casualty of the tyranid invasion, and Warhammer players say old aspects of the lore that no longer apply have been “squatted” to this day.

The squats came back a few years ago, however, rebooted under the less insulting name of “the kin”, with their main force arrayed as the Leagues of Votann. The descendants of human mining fleets sent to the galactic core in ages past, generations of genetic adaptation with technology they call cloneskeins have turned them into, well, space dwarfs. But now they wear cool armor.

Given their relative unpopularity and how long they spent in the stomachs of the tyranids, the squats never showed up in any of the many Warhammer 40,000 videogames. That’ll change when Mechanicus 2 comes out later this year, though unfortunately they won’t be a playable faction.

As revealed in the gameplay trailer shown during the Warhammer Skulls event, Mechanicus 2 will depict three forces using turn-based tactics to fight over a planet called Hekateus IV. Two of those forces will be playable, the cybernetic tech-priests and robotic necrons, with the mercenary Leagues of Votann as a non-playable faction you’ll encounter in the field. Presumably we’ll have the option of allying with them or wiping them out, and either way we’ll get another amazing soundtrack of gothic monkstep to go with it.

Mechanicus 2 is coming to Steam and Epic this year. The original game is currently free to play on Steam until May 26.

Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War, Space Marine 1 spruce-ups coming this year

by admin May 22, 2025

Relic Entertainment is giving its much-loved real-time strategy game Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War a bit of modern day makeover for a Definitive Edition that’s scheduled to arrive on GOG and Steam later this year. Additionally, a Space Marine 1 re-release is on the way.

Starting with Dawn of War, it originally launched in 2004, casting players (in the single-player campaign, at least) as the Space Marines’ Blood Ravens 3rd Company, charged with defending the planet Tartarus from Ork invaders. But away from the campaign, players also got to test their skills controlling the Orks, Eldar, and Chaos. “It’s a perfect gaming world,” Keiron Gillen wrote in Eurogamer’s 8/10 review back in the day, “being exploited perfectly, for the first time.”

Skip ahead 20 or so years, and it’s time to do it all again, thanks to the newly unveiled Dawn of War – Definitive Edition. This bundles together the base game alongside its three expansions – Winter Assault, Dark Crusade, and Soulstorm – all of which equates to “four Classic Dawn of War Campaigns, nine Armies, and over 200 maps”, according to Relic.

And because it’s now 2025 and computers have come on a bit since Eric Prydz’s Call On Me was at number one, there’s also 4K support, upscaled textures (4x the originals), an enhanced battlefield camera, “optimised” HUD and screen layouts for widescreen viewing, plus improvements to world lighting, units reflections, and shadows. Additionally, the Definitive Edition remains compatible with “over 20-years of lovingly crafted community mods”.

Dawn of War’s Definitive Edition – which doesn’t have a release date yet – isn’t the only Warhammer glow-up announced as part of today’s Warhammer Skulls showcase. The original Space Marine is also set to return as an enhanced Master Crafted Edition, being handled by developer SneakyBox. This “thoughtful restoration” of the 2011 PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 shooter features 4K resolution support, modernised controls, an interface overhaul, improved character models, remastered audio, all previously released DLC, and more. It costs £34.99 and launches for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Game Pass on 10th June.

“This is more than just Master Crafted Edition,” publisher Sega writes in its announcement, “it’s a respectful dialogue between past and present, preserving what made the original special while making it shine for a new generation of players.”
