How One Keto Trial Set Off a New War in the Nutrition World

by admin June 4, 2025

While the study was still in the recruitment phase, Nadolsky left the team.

Entrenched Positions

Klatt, of UC Berkeley, is extremely well-versed in nutrition research and the current online debates around cholesterol. He’s written about this study and its fallout on his personal Substack, and calls Nadolsky a friend. Klatt discussed the study with Nadolsky while it was ongoing, and many aspects concerned him.

Klatt brought up issues of undisclosed biases to the Lundquist Institute, the host of the trial, along with Dave Feldman’s “strongly vested interest” in the results of the study that was not properly disclosed, claiming he was “a conflicted party with no training in the biomedical sciences.” His email to the Institute about these issues went unanswered. “I think this study has gotten to the point of being extremely unethical,” Klatt says.

“All authors adhered to the conflicts-of-interest disclosure guidelines the journal required,” Soto-Mata says. “Our study was independently reviewed, approved, and monitored by an expert Research Ethics committee, all its recommendations were followed, and all its standards were met.”

While some researchers and physicians are tearing the study apart, or using it to show that keto can have adverse effects, Klatt doesn’t draw any strong conclusions. “People are talking past each other,” he says. Generally speaking, there are two clear camps, with one thinking the traditional lipid hypothesis holds up, and another thinking the new lipid energy model might work. Klatt puts himself in a third camp, asking: “Why are we trying to interpret this study at all?”

“I’m an editor at the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition,” Klatt says, “and I would like to believe that we would have rejected this outright without even sending it out for peer review, because it has so many obvious issues.” He is worried about people using this flawed study as proof the consensus on the risks of LDL cholesterol has been “debunked,” which it has not.

One of the study’s coauthors, Matthew Budoff, a professor of medicine at UCLA as well as an investigator at the Lundquist Institute, acknowledged in an email to WIRED that there had been “incredible scrutiny of the data on social media, which is more than expected based on my prior publications.” He noted the research team is seeking to have the paper incorporate corrections, but that this is ultimately at the discretion of the journal. A response to the Letter to the Editor from the coauthors clarifies some of the issues, he wrote.

That reply to the Letter to the Editor has now been published—and reveals that the study’s data may support the conventional position on the risk of cholesterol after all. The study’s authors share that the “pooled median change” in NCPV in the participants—the rise in the type of plaque the study was set up to investigate, but which originally wasn’t explicitly quantified in the paper—was an alarming 42.8 percent. The reply goes on to state that the study’s findings were “compatible with a causal role of ApoB in atherosclerosis”—the build-up of fat in the arteries—which they’ve “acknowledged and supported in previous publications.” The letter says that not mentioning this percentage increase in NCPV “was a sincere oversight, not intentional selective reporting.”

But this concession comes after the horse has bolted. Feldman’s hypothesis is already appearing in laypeople’s research—with the keto diet having been among the most Googled diets in recent years, and keto products a growing multibillion-dollar industry. Answering the query “What is special about Lean Mass Hyper-Responders,” ChatGPT provides the lipid energy model, Feldman’s argument against the consensus on cholesterol, among the initial explanations for why there is so much controversy and interest. There is also a Cholesterol Code documentary in the works—which covers Feldman’s personal experience and his research, including this study—which Feldman predicts will be available on a major streaming service sometime this year.

India And Pakistan In Crypto Adoption War: Who Stands Where

India and Pakistan in Crypto Adoption War: Who Stands Where?

by admin June 3, 2025

India and Pakistan not just share their boundaries, but they also share one of the most notable enmities since the partition in 1947. Whether it is cricket, culture, or full-fledged wars, everyone has witnessed their rivalries.

Now, both rival countries are competing for crypto adoption. Recently, Pakistan dropped a bombshell by announcing its intention to establish a strategic crypto reserve. Not only that, but the country also plans to allocate 2,000 MW of electricity for bitcoin mining. Just after this, India reportedly plans to publish the Crypto Regulation Discussion paper in June 2025.

Both countries are taking steps to escalate the crypto ecosystem. The steps may differ, but it marks the beginning of a crypto adoption war between India and Pakistan.

Pakistan Moves Boldly into Crypto While India Lacks Traction

The story began when the Crypto Council head from Pakistan, Bilal Bin Saqib, took everyone by surprise when he made an announcement at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas. Pakistan is not just testing crypto—it is fully committing by establishing the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve with support from the government.

Things get more interesting here: Pakistan formed its own reserve only three months after the United States did the same. For years, India has said it will release a crypto discussion paper, and the latest date promised is “June 2025,” which keeps getting closer but never arrives.

It’s almost like poetry how ironic it all is. Pakistan, which was once considered behind in technology, is now working to become a leader in digital innovation. Saqib was direct in saying that Pakistan is being “reborn” and is now “powered by its youth, made stronger by need, and led by a new generation of leaders in technology.” Those are fighting words in the world of national digital strategies.

But here’s the surprising part: Pakistan currently has over 40 million crypto wallets and says it is one of the biggest freelancer economies in the world. While India puts up new rules and raises taxes on cryptocurrencies, Pakistan is quietly growing its crypto infrastructure. They are using 2,000 megawatts of extra electricity for both Bitcoin mining and AI data centers. That is not only planning; it is also carrying out the plan.

Why India Needs Immediate Action on Crypto Regulatory Framework

Right now, India’s crypto situation feels like watching a Bollywood drama at a very slow pace—there’s a lot of suspense, but the ending never arrives. For years, the country has been unable to pass new laws, which has led to confusion, heavy taxes, and missed chances.

The 30% crypto tax in India has already driven a lot of traders and investors out of the country to look for other countries with better tax laws. Indian youth, who play a large role in the crypto world, are seeing Pakistan give its support to crypto while they continue to face uncertainty in their own country. It’s similar to getting invited to a party, but your parents always warn you they’ll ground you if you attend.

Where India Currently Stands

India is facing this crisis at a very bad time. Sumit Gupta from CoinDCX recently shared that the Financial Stability Board is currently conducting a review of how countries regulate cryptocurrencies, and the report will be released in October 2025. India may not keep up with global crypto policies, while Pakistan follows international guidelines.

The big problem that no one is talking about? Pakistan’s strategy is not being carried out alone. Because US President Donald Trump is pro-crypto, Pakistan is now joining a larger group of countries that support cryptocurrencies. India, at the same time, keeps treating crypto as the family member you’re not sure you want to invite to get-togethers.

By hesitating, India is missing the opportunity to become the Web3 capital of the world, which Pakistan is now trying to achieve. Since India has a large number of tech experts and is entrepreneurial, this should have been an obvious choice. On the other hand, the lack of clear rules is pushing companies to develop and invest in other countries.

Final Thoughts

The battle between India and Pakistan over crypto adoption is more about securing a leading role in the future economy than just using digital currencies. The difference between Pakistan’s quick action on crypto and India’s slow progress is not only about policies; it points to a basic change in how the countries approach new ideas, innovation, and risks.

India stands at a very important turning point. It can either realize that crypto is here to stay and should be regulated, or it can see its neighbor take the regional crypto crown. The decision is obvious, but time is running out. Being slow in the world of cryptocurrency can be extremely harmful.

The war has begun. The question is, which side will India choose to be on?

Gen V Season 2 Trailer Previews Superhero War Against Humans

by admin June 3, 2025

Image: Amazon Prime Video

After the massacre at the end of Gen V’s first season, and the governmental coup at the end of The Boys’ fourth, sophomore year at Godolkin University will be nothing like the one before. By the looks of the newly released trailer, the new season will be focused on seeing the superhero students turn into soldiers.

GameStop Doubles Down On Crypto With Massive Bitcoin Purchase As Stores Close

In the trailer, three of the four Godolkin students captured at the end of the first season—Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan Li (London Thor/Derek Luhu), and Emma Meyer (Lizze Broadway)—have been released from the detention center they were locked away in for thwarting the supe uprising incited by Cate Dunlap (Maddie Phillips) and Sam Riordan (Asa Germann). The Godolkin University they find themselves in now is one with a new dean named Cipher (Hamish Linklater of Midnight Mass) who makes his intentions for the Godolkin students very clear. “You are not students. You are soldiers, and you will fight,” he says.

At the end of The Boys’ fourth season, Homelander (Anthony Starr) became the de facto dictator after Vice President-elect Victoria Newman (Claudia Doumit) was murdered and President-elect Robert Singer (Jim Beaver) was arrested for her assassination after Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) released doctored footage showing Singer ordering the hit. His new puppet-in-command, Steven Calhoun (David Andrews), declares martial law and nationally deputizes superheroes, making Homelander the true commander-in-chief. That’s probably why we see posters of Homelander defaced with the word “Resist” spray-painted across them.

Tensions seem to be rising all around, as we see Godolkin University students yelling “Fuck humans” and other students being pit against each other in what appears to be a gladiatorial test to determine who will be the next soldiers to fight in this dumb war. There’s only so much we can learn from a 138-second trailer, but two things are certain: a species war is coming, and the second season of Gen V will debut on Prime Video on September 17.

Meta Builds AI Headsets for War; MIND of Pepe Presale about to End

by admin June 2, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Meta and defense firm Anduril are developing AI-powered mixed reality (MR) headsets to enhance the US military’s battlefield capabilities.

As demand for machine-learning tech soars across various sectors, $MIND – an AI agent token – is thriving on the hype.

After a massive $12M+ presale run, the $MIND presale is just hours from ending. This is your last chance to buy MIND of Pepe at its low pre-listing price before it hits the best DEXs tomorrow. More details after the news.

Meta & Anduril – the Future of AI-Driven Warfare

Meta’s ‘EagleEye’ headsets aim to become the Army’s next Soldier Borne Mission Command system.

They’ll run on Anduril’s Lattice platform, integrating data from thousands of sources to provide real-time battle intelligence.

Designed to enhance soldiers’ perception and allow intuitive control during missions, Palmer Luckey (Anduril’s co-founder) believes they can ‘save countless lives and dollars.’

X (Anduril’s co-founder, Palmer Luckey)

Meta’s AI/MR capabilities, coupled with Anfuril’s defense expertise, combine to deliver a major step forward for battlefield technology.

Meta acquired Oculus VR in 2014 and has since expanded into defense applications. In November, it expanded its policies to grant the US military access to its Llama AI model.

Meanwhile, in 2025, Anduril took over the development of the US Army’s AR headset program from Microsoft, which now serves solely as the cloud provider.

As Meta and Anduril double down on AI and MR for defense, investor confidence in AI-native ecosystems is rising. One such example is MIND of Pepe ($MIND), an AI token that has spiked over 20% since initiating on presale.

MIND of Pepe Recruits AI into the Crypto Trenches

$MIND is an AI-powered meme coin that combines internet culture with advanced machine learning to give you a leg up in the crypto trading sphere.

Its AI agent, MIND, scans platforms like X, forums, and crypto aggregators to uncover real-time market insights and trading signals.

To receive these exclusive insights, you only need to hold $MIND, currently available at its last low-cap presale price before listing on exchanges.

Upon doing so, you’ll soon be able to access its findings via the MIND Terminal, an exclusive token-gated dashboard in the making.

Source: X (MIND of Pepe)

Holders enjoy full access to MIND’s findings. However, select updates are also shared publicly on the AI agent’s X account and the project’s Telegram channel.

With the AI agent being constantly upgraded with increasingly powerful tools, including persona-trained large language models (LLMs) and vector embeddings, this could be one to watch.

Considering the AI agent market is predicted to grow at a 40.14% CAGR to $216.8B by 2035, $MIND offers early exposure to this rapidly growing sector.

Last Chance to Buy $MIND Before DEX Listings

Offering real-world trading utility and a front-row seat into one of tech’s hottest new areas, it’s no surprise MIND of Pepe has already raised $12M+.

FOMO has kicked in hard with the presale nearing its end, with one whale buyer injecting $40K+ at the last minute.

But fear not: you can still purchase $MIND at its final presale price – $0.0037515 – before it’s listed on DEXs tomorrow.

$MIND is expected to outpace most other recent post-presale projects, with analysts predicting it could reach $0.00535 by year-end – a projected ROI of 42%+.

A high of $0.035 by 2030 is also possible, representing a five-year boost of over 833% compared to its current valuation. And that’s without factoring in the 199% staking rewards, which could multiply annual returns.

Still, only time can tell if $MIND goes on to deliver on its promise. As with any investment, you must always DYOR and understand the risks involved before committing your capital.

UNI Recovers as Volatility Spikes on Trade War Fears

by admin June 1, 2025

The cryptocurrency market faces mounting pressure as global economic tensions escalate, with Uniswap (UNI) experiencing dramatic price swings reflecting broader market uncertainty.

UNI’s recent 10.9% price range demonstrates how geopolitical factors are directly influencing digital asset valuations, as traders navigate between risk-off sentiment and opportunistic positioning.

Despite challenging conditions, Uniswap has shown resilience by breaking above key resistance levels, suggesting potential stabilization after significant volatility.

Technical Analysis Highlights

  • UNI experienced significant price turbulence over the 24-hour period, with a substantial range of 0.644 (10.9%) from the high of 6.589 to the low of 5.945, according to CoinDesk Research’s technical analysis data model.
  • The token faced a sharp selloff during the 16:00-01:00 period, plummeting from 6.510 to 5.954, with notably high volume (4.4M) at the 01:00 low, establishing a strong volume support zone.
  • A modest recovery followed, with UNI finding resistance around 6.120 and consolidating between 6.000-6.050, suggesting market indecision after the significant correction.
  • In the last hour, UNI experienced a significant downward trend followed by a modest recovery.
  • The token declined from 6.110 to a low of 6.017 around 13:51, establishing a key support zone with increased volume.
  • A notable reversal occurred at 14:01 when UNI surged 3.6% from 6.032 to 6.054, accompanied by elevated volume (28.7K), suggesting renewed buying interest.
  • The price action formed a bullish channel with resistance at 6.055 and support at 6.030, with the closing price of 6.051 indicating potential short-term stabilization after the earlier volatility.

The ‘War Between Land and the Sea’ Trailer Gives Earth a Battle the Doctor Can’t Stop

by admin May 31, 2025

With the conclusion of the latest season of Doctor Who, all eyes are on what’s next for adventures in time and space… and when, exactly, we’ll be getting them. But before the Doctor returns, Earth is going to have to stand alone in a new spinoff miniseries, The War Between Land and the Sea.

To mark the climax of Doctor Who‘s 2025 season, today the BBC revealed the first footage from War Between Land and Sea, which will see UNIT as the front line of defense when the Sea Devils—a race of aquatic reptilians who have existed on Earth since the dawn of time, hiding their advance civilization in hibernation alongside their other distantly affiliated ancient Earth dwellers, the Silurians, for millions of years—emerge from hiding and make themselves known to the Human race.

How do things go? Well, you could tell by the title of the miniseries alone that the answer to that is seemingly “not well”—and without the Doctor to fall back on like they’ve been able to the last couple of times the Sea Devils and Silurians alike tried to emerge, it’s up to humanity to find away to counter the threat of Earth’s ancient reclaimers… and if not co-exist with them, survive their wrath.

War Between Land and the Sea will feature several familiar faces from Doctor Who. There’s a few returning characters, including Jemma Redgrave, Alexander Devrient, and Ruth Madeley reprising their roles in UNIT as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, Colonel Ibrahim, and Shirley Ann Bingham, respectively. In more of a deep cut, Colin McFarlane will reprise his role as General Austin Pierce from the third season of Torchwood, Children of Earth.

But, as seen in the trailer above, the series also stars two Doctor Who favorites, but as entirely new characters. Loki‘s Gugu Mbatha-Raw played companion Martha Jones’ sister, Tish, throughout the third season of Doctor Who, and is now a mysterious vanguard of the Sea Devils’ return, while Being Human‘s Russell Tovey previously appeared in the 2007 holiday special “Voyage of the Damned” as Midshipman Alonso Frame, now plays Barclay, a human who has seemingly been tasked with leading humanity’s response.

The War Between Land and the Sea will run for five episodes when it hits the BBC in the UK, and Disney+ internationally, and is currently expected to launch sometime in 2026.

Reschedule those sailing lessons, as Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord’s War Sails DLC has been delayed

by admin May 31, 2025

To be a person that looks forward to video games and DLC for video games is to also be a person that must do so knowing that, at this point in time, they are likely to be delayed. It is what it is! Perhaps the dismantling of our current economic system and rebuilding one that doesn’t put profits first would mean developers could take their time, but that’ll probably also take a while. As a result, we’re in a situation where, earlier today, developer TaleWorlds Entertainment announced that Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord’s first bit of DLC, War Sails, has been delayed.

“After taking a hard look at where things stand, it became clear we won’t be ready by the originally planned release date of June 17th,” TaleWorlds explained in a post on their website. Now, the strategy game is currently slated for a slightly less specific fall/ autumn release window later this year

Further explaining the delay TaleWorlds wrote that they came to this decision because they “need more time to reach the level of quality you rightfully expect. The extra development period will give us more time to apply additional polish, and continue making progress on the improvements to the base game that are already in motion.” A new release date should be on the way in “upcoming weeks” at least.

War Sails, if you could tell by the name, is all about going out on a lovely little sailing trip. Well, maybe not lovely, it’s more about doing trade or fighting enemies, but you get what I mean. You’ll be able to board enemy ships while out on the open sea, and a Viking-inspired faction is being introduced with this expansion too. All of it sounds pretty good, you just won’t be playing it next month.

With the Illuminate now on the verge of defeat, Helldivers 2 was just hit with a fresh barrage of Steam review bombing apparently rooted in a Galactic War comms mix-up

by admin May 30, 2025

Helldivers 2 has been hit with a fresh burst of negative reviews on Steam over the past couple of days, and it looks like the reason for this uptick is rooted in an alleged Galactic War messaging mix-up involving Chinese players keen to defeat the Illuminate.

The good news is that the squids may soon suffer that exact fate, with the battle for Super Earth now in the final stage of its final stage. Though, it has taken Super Earth’s president getting killed in action to get us to that point.

Taking a look at Steam, HD2 has clocked up just under 3500 negative reviews across May 29 and May 30 so far, as opposed to 1514 positive ones. It’s a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the mass of over 220,000 negative reviews that came with last May’s PSN account linking controversy, but still noticeable.

A glance through these recent thumbs downs reveals that a good portion of them are rooted in unhappiness about recent bugs like the stratagem input one. Though, there are also a bunch that cite the percentage “99.9783%” and express frustration at Arrowhead over a recent development in the the Galactic War.

What’s happened looks to be this: with only two mega cities left to defend from the Illuminate invasion – Equality-On-Sea (located in China on Helldivers 2’s in-game map) and Prosperity City (Super Earth’s capital, placed in Sweden, home of developer Arrowhead) – there was a big effort put in by players, especially those in China, to hold on to the former.

Their efforts meant the Helldivers’ hold on the city got to 99.9783%, but because the Illuminate are still invading en-masse in a manner the divers couldn’t put a full stop to at that point because the current order was still ongoing, there was nothing they could do to make Equality-On-Sea 100% theirs.

According to an alleged “level 150 Chinese Helldiver veteran” with the Reddit username Valkyrie_Yukikaze (thanks, GamesRadar), this lead to frustration among Chinese players, which they claim to have not been helped by the game’s Chinese translation apparently explaining defense percentages in a way that “makes it [seem] like that the city can be completely taken back from the invasion”.

Cue anger, coupled with conspiracy theories about Arrowhead and its game master J.O.E.L railroading players into specific outcomes or plot twists in the war, rather than rewarding them for their efforts and reacting dynamically to them. How you feel about that comes down to what you think the job of a D&D-style dungeon master is, but there are plenty of examples of Arrowhead embracing stuff players have done out of the blue in the past – hello mines people decided to save children over.

Anyway, here’s hoping everyone can chill out and come together for the climax of this pivotal major order. While Super Earth’s president has been killed in action overnight, Arrowhead’s latest news briefing says that the squids are “taking heavy losses” that could soon result in them being “forced to abandon the assault” of Super Earth. That’s assuming the divers can keep on holding out, so here’s hoping they stay strong.

Total War: Warhammer 3 fans reckon they’ve already guessed which faction is coming next in Tides Of Torment

by admin May 27, 2025

Last week’s Warhammer Skulls brought announcements for a new Mechanicus 2 ally faction, a strategy remaster in the form of the first Dawn Of War and all expansions, and a free Boltgun typing game in which you tap out phrases like ’emperor’ and ‘thin your paints’ to chainsword cultists. Nestled away in the recesses of that skull, like a coiled snake on a tattoo with the name of someone’s pug on it, was a teaser for the next Total War: Warhammer 3 DLC. Here’s that teaser.

Watch on YouTube

The hooded zap lad is Sayl the Faithless, a Norscan sorcerer famous for interrupting rituals and turning the attendant spellcasters into chaos spawn. It was fairly slight and esoteric as far as trailers go, but Creative Assembly followed it up with one of those casual sofa talks full of highly curated information and soundbites about how unbeatable their benefits package and workplace satisfaction is.

There was some good stuff in there, in terms of detail. We already knew about Slaanesh’s appearance in the DLC, and now it’s double-confirmed Norsca will be joining. Sayl’s campaign is focused on manipulation, there’ll be more monster hunts for Throgg and Seafang raiding from Wulfric, and both are getting new voicelines.

Not mentioned was the DLC’s third faction but, as chronicled in a swathe of Reddit posts and content creator videos, the community seems more or less certain on what that faction is: the high elves, specifically elf naval commander Aislinn. He likes tides, ‘tides’ is in the name, the missing High Elf units from the game include naval-themed centerpieces like the Merwyrm and the Skycutter, there’s thematic connections there with Slaanesh, people like elves, and so on. Norsca like to raid on boats, Slaanesh likes to lick boats (canon), elves like to ride boats. It all lines up. I also get the impression Creative Assembly like including at least one good guy or neutral faction in these packs too, just for balance. Things get a bit monochrome and grim if it’s all chaos, all the time.

There was another notable in that video, too: all the developers interviewed were from CA Sofia, the sister studio previously responsible for games like Pharaoh and Troy, who seem largely to have been moved on to Twarhammer DLC duty since the big shake ups at CA last year following the cancellation of Hyenas. This could mean that there’s multiple expansions in the works, requiring the attention of director Rich Aldridge and the UK team. Or, it could mean that Alridge and his team are already busy on other, more power-armoured Games Workshop adaptations.
