Same team searching for glory.

Once Europe’s undisputed powerhouse with multiple LEC titles and the region’s first MSI trophy, G2 Esports has fallen short of expectations this year—missing out on domestic titles despite finals appearances and faltering internationally.

Still, head coach Dylan Falco insists those setbacks have fueled meaningful change, offering fans renewed hope ahead of the Summer Split finals and Worlds 2025.

“We’re not the same team that played at MSI. Anybody who has followed us through EWC and Summer Split can tell we’re different now. I expect us to perform significantly better,” Dylan Falco said in an interview with Sheep Esports. He also argued that G2 Esports defeated Top Esports in the lower bracket in MSI 2024 and they’re back in form for the Summer Split.

Falco admitted G2 has struggled to deliver when it mattered in past years, but stressed he doesn’t just want an easy path to the top eight. Instead, he’s determined for G2 to prove themselves by beating the best at Worlds 2025—something he believes the team is now prepared to do.

BrokenBlade, the team’s dependable top laner, also expressed confidence in a recent interview, explaining that G2 have learned from their in-game mistakes, adapted accordingly, and are now ready for Worlds 2025.

Dylan Falco has been with G2 Esports since 2021, guiding the team through multiple successes alongside head analyst Rodrigo. With so much of G2’s progress tied to their leadership, questions about Falco’s future naturally arise, especially with their contract expiring in 2025. When asked about a potential extension with the team, he admitted there’s always a possibility.

G2 Esports is waiting in Madrid to face the winner of the lower bracket finals. While G2, MKOI have been qualified for Worlds 2025, Fnatic became the third seed from Europe after winning the series against Karmine Corp.

Ian Calderon Runs for California Governor, Vows to Make State ‘Undisputed Leader’ on Bitcoin

by admin September 24, 2025

In brief

  • Former California Assembly majority leader Ian Calderon has vowed to put Bitcoin on California’s balance sheet and back crypto payments for state programs as part of his bid for governor.
  • Calderon previously pushed blockchain policy through AB 2658 and worked with the Satoshi Action Fund.
  • Current bills, AB 1180 and AB 1052, stop short of allowing the state to hold Bitcoin directly.

Ian Calderon, a Democrat and former California Assembly majority leader, announced his candidacy for governor with a promise to put Bitcoin at the heart of state policy.

“California has always been a leader on technology. It’s time for us to get back to our roots and make California the undisputed leader on Bitcoin,” Calderon tweeted Tuesday.

California has always been a leader on technology. It’s time for us to get back to our roots and make California the undisputed leader on Bitcoin.

— Ian Calderon (@IanCalderon) September 23, 2025

Calderon has been a staunch advocate of the digital asset, confirming in a livestream earlier on the same day that, once elected, he would “make sure that we hold Bitcoin on our balance sheet” and support crypto payments for state programs.

In a separate campaign video, Calderon compared his positioning with the status quo.

“My generation pays bills on our phones, we send money to each other with Venmo and we save in Bitcoin,” Calderon said. “But the people running our government, they’re trying to use yesterday’s ideas to solve today’s problems, and it isn’t working.”

“Ambitious and daring”

Calderon’s statements are not without weight or work behind it.

Having left the Assembly in 2020 after three terms, he remained active in the policy space, including work with the Satoshi Action Fund in 2022 that explored legislation to consider Bitcoin as legal tender in the state. Calderon is also cited as a contributor in a 2020 roadmap developed by California’s Blockchain Working Group, a forum that produced policy recommendations on digital assets.

Much earlier in 2018, Calderon authored AB 2658, which created California’s Blockchain Working Group to evaluate the technology’s uses, risks, benefits, and legal implications for state government and businesses, define blockchain in statute, and develop policy recommendations including possible amendments to state law.

Calderon’s stance “shows that crypto has entered the mainstream, because candidates are now openly running on pro-crypto platforms and competing with one another,” Robert Boris Mofrad, co-founder of blockchain data storage firm Serenity, told Decrypt.

Yet whether the position is adopted or received “by the masses” would remain unclear, Mofrad noted. “But what we can understand is that crypto is now a serious part of the political conversation, one that began at the federal level with the idea of creating a reserve.”

“California putting Bitcoin on its balance sheet is quite an ambitious and daring position,” Mofrad said. “When it comes to a state such as California, the world’s fifth-largest economy, the situation is different.”

Because governments “usually treat Bitcoin as an intangible asset,” and must “record every loss in value but cannot really record gains,” such proposals make it “hard for a state treasury to manage responsibly,” he added.

California and crypto

Calderon’s campaign comes as California weighs incremental crypto legislation through two key legal frameworks.

AB 1180 would allow certain state agencies to pilot stablecoin payments for fees beginning in 2026, while AB 1052 brings crypto under the state’s unclaimed property law by requiring inactive custodial accounts to be transferred to the state and held in their original form.

Neither measure, however, would authorize California to purchase or hold Bitcoin directly, marking a clear distinction from Calderon’s proposal.

Kick bans streamers involved in Jean Pormanove broadcasts as France vows “justice”

by admin August 20, 2025

Kick has responded to the death of French streamer Jean Pormanove by banning co-streamers involved in his controversial broadcasts.

On August 18, 46-year-old Raphaël Graven, better known online as Jean Pormanove, died in his sleep while streaming on Kick.

In the days leading up to his death, he was reportedly subjected to “ten days and nights of torture” from fellow streamers Naruto and Safine. The alleged abuse included extreme violence, sleep deprivation, and forced ingestion of toxic products.

A day later, French authorities opened a judicial investigation. Clara Chappaz, France’s minister for digital affairs and AI, said Pormanove had been “humiliated and mistreated for months live on Kick” and criticized the platform’s lack of intervention.

Viral clips circulating on social media show Pormanove being hit, strangled, and shot at with paintball guns while live on stream.

Kick issues bans and launches social media review

Kick’s French account has now confirmed that all streamers who participated in the broadcasts have been banned while the company conducts its own internal investigation.

“We are committed to fully cooperating with the authorities in this process,” the platform said.

The company also announced it had ended its collaboration with its former French social media agency after facing backlash for posts that used images of Pormanove to promote merchandise. Kick says it is conducting a full review of its French operations to prevent similar incidents.

“Our priority is to protect creators and ensure a safer environment on Kick,” the statement concluded.

The response has not silenced critics. Sarah El Haïry, France’s High Commissioner for Children, condemned Kick for failing to step in earlier.

“Platforms have an immense responsibility in regulating online content so that our children are not exposed to violent content,” she wrote on X.

Meanwhile, one of Pormanove’s accused abusers, Owen ‘Naruto’ Cenazandotti, has claimed he is now the victim of a “cyberbullying campaign.”

His lawyer announced that a complaint will be filed with the Paris Prosecutor’s Office’s cyberhate division targeting those who have harassed him since Pormanove’s death.

On August 20, Minister Chappaz echoed those statements and confirmed “an investigation is underway into the alleged actions of the streamers following reports by Mediapart, conducted by the Nice judicial police service under various charges.”

“Justice will carry out its work to advance this investigation and to clarify the tragic circumstances of Jean Pormanove’s death… All platforms have the legal responsibility to remove clearly illegal content of which they are aware,” she explained.

“The largest platforms also have the new responsibility to combat systemic risks such as the protection of minors, public health, or the safety of individuals. Investigations are underway regarding some of them.”

Kick star Adin Ross has called for “severe consequences” following Pormanove’s death. Ross also said he had spoken with rapper Drake, and together they will cover the streamer’s funeral expenses.

The situation has reignited long-standing concerns about Kick’s moderation policies. While the platform has made efforts to distance itself from controversial content in recent years, French officials are now demanding stronger safeguards in the wake of Pormanove’s death.
