Fallout Season 2 Images Tease New Vegas Before The Bombs Fell

by admin August 19, 2025

The second season of Amazon Prime’s live-action Fallout show arrives later this year, but before then, we have some new images of the post-apocalyptic series, and one in particular featuring a shot of Las Vegas before the bombs dropped and turned it into New Vegas is very, very intriguing.

On August 18, Amazon shared seven new images of the upcoming season of its hit Fallout TV show. The new screenshots show a variety of characters and locations, but the one that immediately caught my eye was a single shot of Howard Cooper (Walton Goggins) in a car driving down the Las Vegas Strip. (After the bombs fall, it becomes New Vegas.) In the window is a reflection of the Lucky 38’s large and iconic sign, first seen in 2010’s Fallout: New Vegas. In the show, Cooper survives the bombs falling and becomes the decaying bounty hunter known only as the Ghoul. But before that, he had a life pre-war that intersected with Vault-Tec and the company’s nefarious plans. And now it seems like he might have met Mr. House, a villain from New Vegas who was teased back in season one. Okay, Fallout season two, you have my attention.

The other teaser images released by Amazon include looks at Ella Purnell’s loveable Lucy and Aaron Morten’s Maximus. We also see Lucy’s dad, played by Kyle MacLachlan, who was revealed to be a pretty bad guy at the end of the show’s first season. He ran off in a power suit to New Vegas, and it seems we’ll be catching up with him later this year. Of course, this isn’t actually the first time we’ve seen some of this stuff, as set leaks earlier this year hinted at some pre-war flashbacks set in Las Vegas.

Last year, after premiering in April, the Fallout series received rave reviews, big ratings, and lots of award nominations, leading to a spike in people playing old Fallout games. Amazon quickly announced a second season, which wrapped up filming in May. The highly anticipated new season of Fallout arrives on Amazon Prime this December, and the show has already been picked up for a third season. Here’s a teaser for the show’s second season:

Pentiment and Fallout: New Vegas designer Josh Sawyer isn’t usually a fan of RPG romances, but thinks Cyberpunk 2077 nailed it: ‘If I were gonna base romances on anything, I’d probably do something like that’

by admin June 16, 2025

I had the chance to talk to veteran RPG designer Josh Sawyer (Pentiment, Pillars of Eternity, Fallout: New Vegas) at this year’s Game Developer’s Conference, and alongside other big ticket RPG topics, I had romance on my mind.

I don’t want to pigeonhole Sawyer as “the anti-RPG romance guy,” but he’s been a consistent critic of how love and sex have been implemented in the genre for years. “I don’t hate love in game stories; I just hate reducing love to shallow, masturbatory fantasy indulgence,” he said in a 2006 Obsidian forum post about the topic, preserved on Reddit. Regarding Baldur’s Gate 3’s explosively popular companion dating, Sawyer said that he doesn’t entirely get the appeal, and where he does get it, he doesn’t like it.

He most often criticizes the checklist structure of many RPG romances, but has said that he’s not opposed to them from a storytelling perspective—he seems to see it as more of a design and pacing issue. I asked Sawyer if there were any RPGs he thinks did romance right, and he answered immediately and without hesitation: Cyberpunk 2077.

“The reason is because those relationships, whether you like the characters or not—which I feel is kind of beside the point, from a design perspective—it’s not in a party context,” Sawyer said. He argued that the typical RPG party camp/wandering around in a squad presentation makes intimate conversations and moments a bit incongruous: “There are six of us together, and we’re engaging in these romantic talks right next to everyone, and it feels kind of odd.”

Cue Wynn or Sten standing stock still in the background of a romantic cutscene in Dragon Age: Origins. It has a bit of the energy of a Weird Anime Club Couple getting too handsy in the school cafeteria. Is this allowed?!

Time to simmer

The other big issue 2077’s romances avoided, according to Sawyer, is one of pacing: In open-ended, nonlinear RPGs, “The crit path can proceed at a different rate than the side content,” said Sawyer, and that’s a challenge when it comes to making multipart side stories, particularly romantic ones, proceed at a clip that makes sense.

That’s an issue I’ve definitely run into: Expending all of a companion’s romance dialogue and being stuck at a stasis point until the next progress gate lowers. Cyberpunk’s romantic partners like Kerry or Judy have plotlines that are staggered, but they aren’t trailing behind you or hanging out at your house waiting for things to progress.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

“You do something with Judy, let’s say, and then, you wrap it up, you have a convo, and then she’s like, ‘I gotta go do some things, bye,'” said Sawyer. “She is gone and you’re not going to hear from her until time has elapsed, and probably until you’ve progressed a critical path.

“There’s a built-in pacing, so the development of the human component of that relationship is developed over content that is specifically made for the two of you, like it’s content for you and Judy alone. River doesn’t come into it at all.”

Sawyer also praised Cyberpunk’s gorgeous, expensive presentation for helping the romances land. “Some of it is production value, which, of course, Obsidian is not necessarily the big cutscene company,” he said. “Larian does that extremely well. Of course CDPR does that exceptionally well. BioWare also does it well.”

In addition to those production values, Sawyer also feels that Cyberpunk’s exclusively first person perspective transformed scenes that might not have been as memorable with a cinematic camera. He pointed to a scene in the character Panam’s arc, one that potentially plays out romantically for male Vs, and platonically for female ones: “There’s the part where you come out of the storm, and you sit on the couch and she puts her legs up on you. In a first person perspective, that has such a different feeling of intimacy than if it’s a third person camera.”

But even with the great art, animation, and writing, it’s still the pacing and implementation that most won Sawyer over. “They do feel like they have their own lives, but you keep coming back together to continue that storyline,” he said. “It’s not to say that’s flawless, but I really do enjoy that way of doing them.

“If I were gonna base romances on anything, I’d probably do something like that.”

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg Gets Call from Vegas to Buy Bitcoin

by admin May 29, 2025

Speaking live from the Bitcoin Conference in Las Vegas, Strive Asset Management CEO Matt Cole publicly urged Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to consider adding Bitcoin to the company’s corporate balance sheet.

“The case for putting Bitcoin on your corporate balance sheet has never been stronger,” Cole said during his address at the high-profile crypto event. He cited macroeconomic concerns such as global debt and currency devaluation as key drivers for companies to re-evaluate their cash reserve strategies.

“Right now, Bitcoin is over a $2 trillion market cap. And when you look at the macro picture, we have a global fiat debt crisis. M2 is rising almost every single day,” Cole said, pointing to increasing money supply and the erosion of dollar value. He added, “As M2 rises, the purchasing power of dollars or dollars that are put in short-term U.S. Treasuries continues to decrease.”

Cole emphasized that inflation alone isn’t the only metric that should be considered. “It’s not accurate or sufficient to only look at inflation. You also have to look at the rise of asset prices, like stocks and homes,” he explained.

The Strive CEO also connected the message to Meta’s existing focus on artificial intelligence and innovation.

“Meta has been a leader in preparing for our AI future. You took the bold step of changing your name from Facebook to Meta, and I applaud you for that,” he stated. Highlighting the impact of technological disruption, Cole warned that companies that fail to adapt may be left behind.

He said, “If you take a look back to the Internet era, over a period of 30 years, there was a 50% turnover in the S&P 500. Our belief is that there will be a similar turnover because of AI disruption in the next 10 years.”

In closing, Cole made a direct appeal to Meta’s leadership. The Strive CEO declared, “Mark Zuckerberg, you’ve already taken step one. You’ve named your GOAT Bitcoin. My ask is that you take step two, and adopt a bold corporate Bitcoin treasury approach, and vote yes on proposal number 13.” The call for action comes as more corporations explore Bitcoin as part of their treasury diversification strategy.

Enhanced Games to Debut in Las Vegas, Promises $1 Million Prizes

by admin May 22, 2025

In brief

  • Enhanced Games will debut in Las Vegas on Memorial Day weekend in 2026.
  • With PEDs allowed, Enhanced Games challenges Olympic norms and rewards record breakers with $1 million prizes.
  • The first $1 million prize was awarded to former Olympic swimmer Kristian Gkolomeev.

Enhanced Games, the controversial competition that permits performance-enhancing drugs, announced Wednesday during a livestreamed press conference that its inaugural event will be held at Resorts World in Las Vegas on Memorial Day 2026.

Backed by tech billionaire Peter Thiel, the Enhanced Games were first announced in February 2024. Unlike traditional sporting events, the Enhanced Games allow performance-enhancing drugs. Enhanced Games Founder Aron D’Souza framed the games as a challenge to athletic conventions, focusing on setting new sports standards.

“We’ve proven that we can do it once now with a 50-meter freestyle, the preeminent record in swimming,” D’Souza told Decrypt in an interview. “So let’s do it on the track and in strength events.”

🇺🇸 LAS VEGAS 2026

The first Enhanced Games are coming to Las Vegas in May 2026.

World-class athletes in athletics, aquatics, and strength will compete to break records, win prizes of up to a million dollars, and redefine the limits of human performance.

D’Souza pointed to the 50-meter freestyle record broken by former Olympic swimmer Kristian Gkolomeev. The feat was chronicled in the documentary “50 Meters to History: The First Superhuman,” which details Gkolomeev’s training and the enhancements used to achieve the record.

When asked how organizations outside of the Enhanced Games will view these new records, D’Souza compared Enhanced Games records to the historical split between amateur and professional sports. He argued that just as professional achievements eventually overshadowed amateur ones, enhanced records—like Gkolomeev’s in the 50-meter freestyle—represent a new, distinct category alongside traditional Olympic records.

“The world records that the Olympic Committee keeps are the natural world records,” D’Souza said. “It’s two different things.”

D’Souza also emphasized that breaking records under the Enhanced Games banner is significantly more lucrative than in traditional competitions.

“Every major world record broken in the Enhanced Games comes with a $1 million prize,” he said. “The point of the matter is that the average Olympian in the United States only earns $30,000 a year. So this is the highest prize ever paid to a swimmer, probably by a factor of ten.”

According to D’Souza, athletes will be supported by coaches, doctors, physiologists, nutritionists, and data scientists. While Enhanced Games allows performance-enhancing drugs, he said the organization will rely on independent medical and scientific protocols to oversee athlete safety and development.

“There are robust safety guidelines that our independent medical commission sets,” D’Souza said. “Every athlete must pass a comprehensive health screening, including an electrocardiogram, MRI, and blood analysis, to ensure they are healthy and fit to compete.”

D’Souza said reactions to Enhanced Games have been sharply divided between the tech world and the traditional sports establishment.

“In the technology world, we’re deeply loved, inspiring a whole new vision of what it means to be human,” he said. “The traditional legacy sporting world is very scared. They’re scared of change. We have to embrace change and embrace the future.”
