Darktide receives its first paid DLC alongside free update

by admin June 24, 2025

It’s time to lay down the law on Atoma Prime with the release of the Arbites DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.

While this game has received a multitude of updates throughout the years bringing quality of life changes, new game modes and more, this is the first paid expansion that we’ve seen for Darktide. Bringing a fifth class to the game, the Arbites expansion lets you play as a member of the Adeptus Arbites, complete with a cyber mastiff that accompanies you into battle.

The DLC is also releasing alongside the the Battle for Tertium update which is free for all players. This not only revamps the core mission experience to streamline the narrative, but also brings updates to the Mortis Trials game mode along with a handful of quality of life improvements.

For the full details on the Arbites DLC, including talent tree breakdowns, ability descriptions and gameplay, check out the full press release below.

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, June 23, 2025. Independent developer Fatshark today releases their first paid class DLC, the Arbites, for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide alongside a free update, the Battle for Tertium. The institution’s most visible officers, known as Arbitrators, are utterly unforgiving of those who dare transgress the Law.Arbites Class Feature Breakdown:Cyber-Mastiff: The Arbitrator’s loyal companion and best friend will join you in the slaying of lawbreakers. After you’re finished with customizing its name and looks, you’ll soon have it fighting alongside you. The Cyber-Mastiff has its own Passive target selection, which it will use to help you against anything that comes too close. You can also command it to attack a specific target, which will override any behaviour of its own. To command your Mastiff, you simply double-tap your Tag Input on any enemy that is eligible to be Tagged.Talent Tree: As an Arbitrator you have plenty of options when it comes to how you wish to play. Going from left to right in the Talent Tree we will find a few prominent themes. From Elite killing and Cyber-Mastiff handling, to Hybrid Combat and Supportive Utility, and lastly Crowd Control and Melee. While the Cyber-Mastiff is iconic to the Arbites, if you prefer to play without it, take a look at the Lone Wolf Talent (see below)!Blitz AbilitiesArbites Grenade: Your base Blitz is an Impact Grenade that deals high damage and stagger to anything struck by itVoltaic Shock Mine: Throw a Voltaic Shock Mine onto the floor that lies dormant until an enemy comes near. Upon activation the Mine shocks and electrocute enemiesRemote Detonation: Cause an electric Explosion around your Cyber-Mastiff’s position. Additionally, Enemies in the area have increase Damage taken.Castigator’s Stance: Instantly replenishes your Toughness and you enter the Castigator’s Stance for 10s. During the stance you have increased Movement Speed, reduced Damage Taken, reduced Movement Speed Penalties from Actions (e.g. attacking, bracing, aiming, interacting or charging heavy attacks), but you cannot Sprint.Break the Line: Step forward and Bash, causing high Stagger to enemies in front of you, and inflict more damage for a short duration.Cyber-Mastiff Iconics: In addition, there are three Talents that affect the Behaviour of your Cyber-Mastiff.Unleashed Brutallity: Your Cyber-Mastiff prioritises Elite and Specialist Enemies, and deals more damage to them.Go Get ‘Em! Gain +15% Toughness Damage Reduction, +10% Attack Speed, +10% Damage, +1 increased Charges on your Blitz Abilities, and you replenish a charge of your Blitz Ability every 60s. This Iconic cannot be taken with any other Cyber-Mastiff related talent.Naturally we have more in store with Auras and Keystones nodes! Make sure to check these out in our patch notes!Free Update: The Battle for Tertium includes:The Battle for TertiumThe core player experience has been reworked to provide a new clearer narrative focus, following the conflict of the Battle for Tertium. Players will now experience a linear campaign with new mission debriefs and embedded cinematics. This new progression path is designed to ease in new players and gradually unlock features that were previously gated by character level. While previously each new player’s experience was completely random, the Battle for Tertium narrative presents maps, enemies and characters in a specific order, allowing players to discover all aspects of the game at a much better pace. The story missions play the same as regular missions, except that these missions have a more tight control over which enemies spawn. You might also hear some new VO lines during missions, and some brand new mission debrief cinematics when completing each mission.Mission Board ReworkA new mission board system will be bringing several changes to how you engage with missions and difficulties. Missions are no longer tied to a specific difficulty, allowing you to select a mission and then choose the difficulty you want. This will effectively increase the amount of mission options available for players of all difficulty levels. While most circumstances remain consistent across difficulty levels, some are disabled on lower difficulties. Notably, Maelstrom missions are exclusive to the Heresy and Auric difficulties.Additionally, the difficulty system has also been overhauled. You now unlock new difficulties by completing missions rather than leveling up your characters. You must prove your skills at your current maximum difficulty to unlock access to the next one. We intend to create a motivation for new players to master the game step by step, and for veteran players to feel assured that their teammates have earned the right to be there. You will make progress by playing missions at your current maximum difficulty. Completing missions advances your progress. Mission Failures reduce your progress slightly but you will never be demoted to a lower difficulty. Higher difficulties will require you to complete more missions to unlock them.Update to the Mortis Trials activity:The Secrets of the Shipmistress: Sefoni’s indiscretions are getting worse! During Mortis Trials, keen-eared players now have the opportunity to sift pieces of Shipmistress Brahms’ past from the psychic chatter. How did she inherit the Mourningstar? What is she hiding? Delve deeper into all these and more across dozens of new memory echoes, unlockable by claiming victory in the Mortis Trials!New difficulty for Mortis Trials: Since the release of Mortis Trials we have noticed people requesting a higher challenge in Mortis Trials! So, we are adding a new difficulty, Auric, as well as some other small changes. There will now be a shorter time in between waves.Waves will now have more enemies and enemy types increasing variety. We are changing the base difficulty to match an Auric difficulty mission.New In-Game Event: Inferno: starting June 23 and until July 7, the streets of Tertium will be set aflame in missions bearing the Inferno condition. Whether by heretic plot or over-zealous Imperial enforcement makes no real difference. Missions must still run, so be careful down there. You’re literally dropping into a hot zone. The rewards will be Ordo dockets, Plasteel and Diamantine. Those who complete the last tier of the event will receive a cosmetic portrait frame.New Havoc Campaign: Havoc will enter a new campaign featuring a new mission pool and rotation in mutators.Quality of Life Changes:Increased maximum number of operatives to 8.Increased maximum number of weapon loadouts to 8.Added a total of ~900 new banter conversations, both between the original cast and Arbites.About Fatshark®Fatshark is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, and was established in 2007. Game Updates

After suffering an influx of overwhelmingly negative Steam reviews, can Capcom turn around Monster Hunter Wilds with the upcoming Title Update 2?

by admin June 23, 2025

Monster Hunter Wilds has been having a rough time of it lately. Over the course of the past week, Capcom’s seventh ‘main’ Monster Hunter title has racked up over 2,000 negative reviews. Most embittered reviewers are lamenting the game’s poor PC performance, whilst others criticise Capcom for the poor optimisation and lack of PC-specific support.

Others bemoan the much slower update cadence the game has received since launch – which is quite light when compared with the previous two games in the series, World and Rise. A popular post by Monster Hunter megafan and content creator, ShinCry, which you can see below, highlights the somewhat scant offering Wilds has had compared to the previous games in the same timespan.

ShinCry’s chart shows the discrepancy between the last three mainline Monster Hunter games. | Image credit: ShinCry

Whilst most of the reviews are fixated on the technical (specifically citing crashes, stuttering, and visual bugs in Wilds), others are getting frustrated with the lack of communication from Capcom, that has been somewhat tight-lipped on what – if anything – it plans to do about all the negative feedback. One complaint fans repeatedly raise about the game is the difficulty and the lack of end-game content – something very important in the health of a Monster Hunter title. “[Capcom] charged $70 for a game that feels like it has less content than its precursors,” reads one highly-rated Steam review, for example.

Some even claim that the updates Capcom has added since the game’s launch on February 28th have made PC performance worse. And that’s saying something. All eyes are on the next big content drop in the game, coming 30th June: can this update address all the issues players have with Capcom’s tentpole release for 2025? Probably not, but at least all of us carving enthusiasts have something to look forward to.

Lagiacrus is no joke, and many are hoping it will be a tough fight. | Image credit: Capcom

Officially, we know that we’re getting at least one “fan-favourite” monster as part of Title Update 2: Lagiacrus, the underwater leviathan. Thanks to a (now removed) update on the Monster Hunter Wilds page on the PlayStation Store, however, we also know more about what we can expect from the incoming update.

The page disclosed that we’re actually getting two “fan-favourite” monsters in this update. Datamines around the game suggest this may be Seregios – known to long-time fans of the series as ‘Steve’ for ridiculous fandom-related reasons – which will hopefully prove to be a tougher opponent than many of the monsters seen in-game to date. As well as the leviathan and Steve, which is based on the real-world Secretary Bird, we will also get an Arch-Tempered Uth Duna, layered weapons to satiate the needs of all the Fashion Hunters out there, and a couple more events over the coming weeks and months.

But will this be enough? Capcom still hasn’t said much about planned performance improvements for the title, nor has it promised balance changes or tweaks providing extra challenge to seasoned pros itching for more of a fight. We’re going to get more solid news about this update at this week’s Capcom Spotlight on Thursday, 26th June, but many fans are dubious about their actual issues being addressed.

At the time of writing, Monster Hunter Wilds has just one percent of the concurrent players it did at launch; that’s not surprising in itself, since we’re a good five months out from launch, but given how ‘sticky’ past Monster Hunter games have been, figures like that will no doubt be setting alarm bells off at Capcom HQ.

The numbers paint a bleak picture for Capcom. | Image credit: SteamDB

I love the Seregios fight, and I think the wounds system and slightly more mobile play style in Wilds will really suit the monster. So I know I’ll be jumping back in to enjoy that, and see how it all works within Wilds’ more developed ecosystem. But I play on console, and the version I play does not suffer from the same issues disenfranchised Steam players have been kicking up such a fuss about over the past week.

I also think a more robust and varied set of events can help turn things around for Wilds. So far, many of the special event quests added to the game have offered insignificant or otherwise forgettable rewards for players, and I wasn’t even that enthused by the Street Fighter collaboration that was added to the game in May, and I’m a bonafide Street Fighter apologist.

Capcom has generated a lot of positive consumer sentiment in the past few years. Between great quality games, a selection of interesting products across multiple genres, and – usually – pretty good comms with its players, the publisher has garnered quite the reputation. To see it marred by out-of-character post-launch support for Wilds seems odd. I know game development takes longer, and drinks more resources, than it did back in the World and Rise cycles, but you’d think the publisher would be keen to press that message publicly, instead of sitting back and letting players stew like they are as we’re awaiting the deployment of Title Update 2.

I think Capcom has what it takes to turn the fortunes of Monster Hunter Wilds around. It took seven patches for the publisher to figure out the issues with Dragon’s Dogma 2 back in 2024, and I’m just hoping Capcom can work that same engineering magic with Monster Hunter Wilds before it’s too late.

After all, I do not want to have to wait until the inevitable Sunbreak- or Iceborne-style DLC in order to really get the most out of what I think has the potential to be one of the best games in the series.

Look Outside just got a big update bringing a bunch of new creepy experiences

by admin June 23, 2025

I didn’t really need an excuse to begin another playthrough of Look Outside, but the developer just dropped an update that provides plenty of reasons to dip back into the survival horror RPG if you were looking for any. Update 1.5 brings new crafting recipes, new interactions with people in the apartment building — some familiar, some not — and big changes to the flooded basement area, along with a slew of other tweaks and bug fixes. You can take a look through the update notes to see everything that’s been added, or just jump right in and let yourself be surprised.

Look Outside is a survival horror game with turn-based combat that was released on Steam in March. The game sees the player character Sam trapped in an apartment building for two weeks to ride out some strange, apocalyptic event happening outside. The weirdness, of course, makes its way inside too, and you’ll find yourself up against all sorts of body horror monstrosities and trying to figure out who you can trust. Between the art, the music and the story, it’s an all-around masterpiece that I haven’t been able to stop yapping about since playing it for the first time back in April.

It’s really cool to see the developer is continuing to add to it because this is one of those games that’s just made to be played over and over. If you haven’t picked it up yet, there’s no time like the present.

Kali Linux version 2025.2
Gaming Gear

This major Kali Linux update could change how ethical hackers break into networks -new tools, VPN IP visibility, and more!

by admin June 23, 2025

  • Kali Linux 2025.2 brings powerful new tools for experienced penetration testers
  • Offensive Security realigns Kali’s interface with MITRE ATT&CK – finally, structure meets hacking function
  • New BloodHound tools hint at deeper Azure and Active Directory targeting than ever before

The newest update to Kali Linux, version 2025.2, introduces over a dozen new tools alongside enhancements to user experience and platform support.

Offensive Security, the developers behind the Debian-based distribution, announced its general availability with a clear focus on aligning the system with the MITRE ATT&CK framework.

The restructured Kali Menu is now tailored to make tool discovery more intuitive, but whether this structural change leads to meaningful workflow improvement remains to be seen.

Included in the new release are 13 additional tools, many of which are specialized for advanced offensive operations.

Tools like azurehound for Azure directory data collection and bloodhound-ce-python, a Python ingestor for BloodHound CE, appear to target complex enterprise environments.

Meanwhile, binwalk3 expands firmware analysis capabilities, and bopscrk enables custom wordlist creation based on intelligent algorithms.

Some additions, such as crlfuzz, which is “a fast tool to scan CRLF vulnerability written in Go,” and donut-shellcode, which lets users “generate position-independent shellcode from memory and run it,” suggest the release continues to cater to skilled practitioners.

Kali Linux 2025.2 also adds chisel-common-binaries and ligolo-ng-common-binaries, both of which offer prebuilt binaries aimed at tunneling and pivoting, activities common in red teaming.

In terms of enumeration and lateral movement, tools like ldeep, described as “an in-depth LDAP enumeration utility,” and rubeus, focused on “raw Kerberos interaction and abuses,” contribute further.

While these tools may appeal to ethical hackers, the level of expertise required to operate them effectively can act as a limiting factor for beginners.

Among the most visible quality-of-life improvements is the integration of the new GNOME VPN IP extension, which allows direct viewing of the VPN IP address from the panel.

Though this feature is convenient, it is not spectacular, and it best remains a fringe addition.

This new update also supports GNOME 48 and KDE Plasma 6.3 desktop environments.

Raspberry Pi users now have a new update that combines some Raspberry Pi OS images, eliminating the need for a separate image for the Raspberry Pi 5.

This update also introduces Kali NetHunter CARsenal, a dedicated suite for automotive security analysis.

While it remains one of the best Linux distros for ethical hacking, some users may still prefer Linux alternatives that lean more toward security or integrate more seamlessly with network monitoring tools.

“100% completing” Balatro has developer better “equipped” to design the next big update

by admin June 22, 2025

Balatro developer Localthunk has “100 percent completed Balatro”, making him better “equipped” for the next update.

In a message posted to social media, Localthunk said it was “a ton of fun to hunt for Completionist++” in his own game, saying he achieved the milestone by playing “a few runs before bed”.

If you don’t know what Balatro is, check this trailer out!Watch on YouTube

“It’s been a great part of my routine,” he said. “I think it’s also equipped me to better design the 1.1 update.

“Pumped to do it over again with the new content when it’s out!”

He accompanied his message with photographic proof, showing that on 20th June, he’d finally earned a gold sticker on every Joker, something less than 1 percent of all global players have managed to do thus far.

Responding to a commenter on Bluesky, Localthunk confirmed he’d reached the achievement by running a “mostly Ghost, some Painted and Yellow” deck, although “every now and then [he]’d throw in a random one too just for fun”.

Balatro recently passed 5m copies sold. That’s more than double the sales since last August, when the game passed 2m copies sold, and is estimated to have generated $4.4m two months after release on mobile alone.

Elden Ring Nightreign update brings new challenges and a welcome live service twist

Elden Ring Nightreign update brings new challenges and a welcome live service twist

by admin June 21, 2025

A new update for Elden Ring Nightreign has been shadow dropped, bringing stronger Nightlords to defeat on a weekly basis.

These limited-time versions of bosses are known as the Everdark Sovereigns and will have new moves and increased power. The first to appear will be an enhanced Adel, Baron of the Night (Gaping Jaw) for this week, to be followed by the Sentient Pest and Darkdrift Knight.

The remaining Nightlords will be added at a later date. At the end of each week the “Sovereign will disappear from the available Expeditions… for now”.

Elden Ring Nightreign Review – An Authentic Souls ExperienceWatch on YouTube

Note that these Everdark Sovereigns will only be available once the original form of that Nightlord has been defeated.

What’s more, defeating the Everdark Sovereigns rewards players with Sovereign Sigils. These are unique tokens that can be exchanged for special Relics and items. Additional Sigils will be rewarded the first time an Everdark Sovereign is defeated.

“This is only the beginning of the Everdark Sovereign cycle,” read the update notes. “As the power of the Night ebbs and wanes, the Sovereigns will soon return to the abyss they came from.”

At the start of the month, FromSoftware stated that “enhanced fights against existing Nightlords” would be on the way, while a duo mode is coming “at a later date”. Even before this, though, dataminers discovered game files for new phases of each Nightlord encounter, so this update was very much expected.

What wasn’t expected, perhaps, was the weekly cycle of these encounters. It’s a smart live service-esque twist to keep players coming back regularly and exactly what the game needs to extend its longevity.

Once all the Nightlords are defeated, the only reason to return is to complete Remembrances with each character. This may not be attractive enough for some, so seeing the beginning of regular updates is a welcome addition.

DLC is also on the way, although it’s unknown what this will include. Would a Bloodborne pack of returning bosses be too much to ask?

The Everdark Sovereign version of Adel, Baron of the Night is available from today, 19th June until 26th June at 1:59am UK time.

Elden Ring Nightreign is FromSoftware’s online multiplayer spin-off to Elden Ring. It’s “an exhilarating rush and a celebration of the studio’s prior achievements Souls veterans will devour,” I wrote in Eurogamer’s Elden Ring Nightreign review.

Nintendo Has Released The First Switch 2 Update Post-Launch

by admin June 21, 2025

The Nintendo Switch 2 launched earlier this month on June 5, and since then, we’ve reviewed Mario Kart World, Welcome Tour, and the console itself. We have also checked out various re-releases on Switch 2 to see how they run. Now, though, for the first time since the Switch 2 launched, Nintendo has pushed out a new hardware update.

Dubbed Ver. 20.1.5, this Switch 2 update couldn’t be more unexciting, to be honest. Here’s what Nintendo says it does: “General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.” Wow! If you’re anything like me, you didn’t even notice this update happened and didn’t recognize any changes from it either.

Nonetheless, the Switch 2 has received its first post-launch update.

In the meantime, read about how the Switch 2 is the fastest-selling console ever, with 3.5 million units sold in its first four days, and then listen to the latest episode of The Game Informer Show, where we give our thoughts on the console.

Is there anything you want in a future Switch 2 update? Let us know in the comments below!

League of Legends update 25.13 patch notes

by admin June 21, 2025

League of Legends patch 25.13 is going to be relatively light due to it being the MSI 2025 patch, with changes mainly targeting pro play relevant champions. But that doesn’t mean that it won’t impact you at all.

LoL patches tend to slow down a bit ahead of big internationals to really dial balance in and give pros the opportunity to get their read on the meta and refine it, and 25.13 is that patch.

With Yunara coming right around the corner on 25.14, we’ll be right back into big changes next time around. For now, though it’s just some some light adjustments to try and hit popular champs at a high level of play and boost lesser played champs to give them a shot of showing up at these events.

Elden Ring Nightreign update adds tougher boss, the Everdark Sovereign

by admin June 20, 2025

A new update for Elden Ring Nightreign rolled out on Thursday, adding an extra layer of challenge. The first of the game’s Everdark Sovereigns, stronger and more challenging versions of existing Nightlord bosses, is here, letting players test themselves against a familiar foe — but only for a limited time.

Players can now face the Everdark Sovereign version of Adel, Baron of the Night (aka “Gaping Jaw”) in Elden Ring Nightreign. Defeating that extra spicy Nightlord will reward players with a new item: Sovereign Sigils. These new tokens can be cashed in for special Relics “and other items,” publisher Bandai Namco says. Players’ first win against an Everdark Sovereign Nightlord will earn them multiple Sovereign Sigils, though it sounds like repeat battles will deal out fewer.

If you want to face Everdark Sovereign Gaping Jaw, you’ll need to have already defeated the base version of Gaping Jaw. So hurry up if you haven’t; the first Everdark Sovereign encounter will only be available through June 25, at 5:59 p.m PDT/8:59 p.m. EDT.

Here’s one big catch, though: Everdark Sovereigns are available for Nightreign’s online mode only.

Coming to the Everdark Sovereign rotation in the next few weeks are harder versions of Sentient Pest and Darkdrift Knight. Amped-up versions of the other existing bosses will be added at a later date, Bandai Namco says.

Elden Ring Nightreign is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. If you need some help getting started, check out Polygon’s guides for Elden Ring Nightreign.

Palworld Tides of Terraria Update release countdown

Palworld Tides of Terraria Update release countdown

by admin June 20, 2025

The Palworld Tides of Terraria update has a release date, and we have more insights about what to expect.

The upcoming update will be a major summer expansion with two popular indie titles collaborating. Developers Pocketpair released an animated trailer to showcase some exciting in-game items you can expect from the upcoming DLC. Most importantly, we now have a release date, and it’s coming sooner than you might expect.

Palworld Tides of Terraria Update release date

The official release date of the upcoming expansion in Palworld is June 25. That’s right—we will all be able to explore the new content on Wednesday next week. Earlier, Pocketpair had declared that the update would be released during the summer.

Unless there are any last-minute delays, we should all be able to enjoy the content soon. The Tides of Terraria update will be a free expansion; all existing owners will receive it for free. The new content will be available if they update their in-game client to the latest version.

While Pocketpair hasn’t announced an exact time for the update, I have based the following countdown based on the usual routine. The timings mentioned below is the standard pattern that the Palworld developers have followed with all major content launches, including the crossplay update back on March 19.

  • PT: 8:30apm on June 24
  • CT: 10:30pm on June 24
  • ET: 11:30pm on June 24
  • BST: 4am on June 25
  • CEST: 5am on June 10
  • AEST: 1pm on June 25

Palworld Tides of Terraria update new weapon

One major takeaway from the animated trailer is the Terra Blade. This weapon is a direct tribute to Terraria, and players should be able to obtain the sword from a dungeon (based on the trailer). The Eye of Cthulhu will be present in some capacity, and there will be a new boss called the Moon Lord.

We don’t know what this boss can do or if it’s a Pal (very likely). In the trailer, we managed to figure out its silhouette, but we should be able to know more once the update goes live in mid-next week.

Pocketpair hasn’t announced the names of the new monsters, but we have seen a few of them on the first reveal. It will be interesting to find out how many new pals we will have and who the new bosses of the expansion will be.

Back in May, the developers had shared a few screenshots surrounding the expansion. They featured Pals we know and are familiar with, along with potentially new creatures. So far, the developers have remained tight-lipped about the exact content, but here’s a quick rundown of what we can expect.

  • New Pals, influenced by game design of Terraria
  • New dungeons and boss fights.
  • At least one new boss called the Moon Lord
  • New Terra Blade weapon
  • Quality of Life improvements and bug fixes

The summer is certainly heating up, and it might be a great time to reinstall the game if you have reached endgame and taken a break.
