Upcoming Destiny Rising patch boosts Exotic drops & adds major new feature

Destiny Rising’s latest patch notes make big adjustments across nearly every part of the game, bringing boosts to Exotic drops, combat balancing, new features, and more.

Headlining the patch notes are adjustments to Activities like Gauntlet: Onslaught and Nexus Interface, which have had their difficulty tuned down. Meanwhile, Exotic drops are now more generous in both Pinnacle and Basic Rewards.

An artifact archive has also been introduced, activity previews have been added to the Acclaim system, and the Black Market has been overhauled with a higher Favor cap. Quality-of-life improvements also hit weapon perks, emotes, and sprays, making the game more transparent and easier to navigate.

There are even changes to character progression, with Xuan Wei’s Weapon Mastery getting a rework, Tan-2’s abilities have been adjusted, and new lore entries have been expanded upon. So, here’s the full rundown of everything included in the latest Destiny Rising patch notes.

Upcoming Resident Evil film “lives” in the world of RE2 and RE3, but with the tone of 4

Director Zach Cregger – known for Barbarian and more recently modern horror fairytale Weapons – has shed more light on his upcoming Resident Evil film, which will begin shooting later this year. Most notably, the director has said the film will be “true to the experience of the games”, and “lives” in the world of Resident Evil 2 and 3. That being said, Cregger said his adaptation “adheres more to the tone of 4”.

Cregger was a guest on the Double Toasted YouTube channel, when the conversation turned towards Resident Evil. “It takes place in the world of the games, but most importantly the journey you’ll have as a viewer of watching this movie is going to be similar to the journey you have as a player when you play these games,” the director said of the adaptation.

“And what that means is it follows one protagonist from point A to point B as they just descend deeper and deeper and deeper into hell.”

Cregger continued: “And as someone who’s played I don’t know how many thousands and thousands of hours of Resident Evil, I just feel like I know how that pacing can go, and it’s inherently cinematic, and I feel like there’s a great movie that can live inside of this world and inside of that sort of pacing. And I’m just really, really pumped about the story that we get to tell here.

“So, I feel like I’m champing at the bit to make this thing.”

As he has said before, the director reiterated he has not seen any of the previous Resident Evil films, saying there are fans of the movies that are “probably not really prepared” for what he has planned. “But, I think that people that are fans of the games are probably going to be stoked,” he said.

Cregger said the “thing about the games is that the game franchise itself is incredibly malleable”, noting that both 2 and 3 take place in Raccoon City, while in Resident Evil 4 we all head overseas with Leon (“and it feels like it’s in the past even though it’s not”). Resident Evil 7 he likens to “a Texas Chainsaw kind of a thing”, before then saying “8 is like some ancient European village and definitely in the past”.

“So, the games don’t even have some sort of a set lore. It’s not rigid. And so I don’t think I’m taking any more liberties with this than the game franchise does at all,” Cregger concluded. “So, I’m colouring within the lines.”

Cregger’s Resident Evil film is expected to be released on 18th September, 2026.

GTA Online 2025 roadmap: Leaks, DLC, and upcoming events

GTA 6 may be drawing closer and closer, but GTA Online is still going strong with new missions, cars and activities hitting the streets of Los Santos on a regular basis. 2025 has been a great year for GTA Online, but there are even more events, modes, and leaked DLC updates to look forward to in the coming months.

The Money Fronts DLC gave us a lot of cool new toys to play with, but Rockstar also left some fun tidbits in the game’s files that point to even bigger additions for GTA Online’s winter 2025 update.

GTA Online Winter 2025 update

Mansions are the big selling point of the next GTA Online update. Slated for winter 2025, this GTA Online DLC will expand the housing scene with huge new properties that are worth more than just bragging rights.

New houses may not seem like the most exciting thing, but the upcoming mansions are going to be much more valuable than the high-end apartments in the game today—and I’m not just talking about the price tag. Since GTA Online winter updates always fall in the first half of December, you can expect to close the deal on your new mansion sometime before Christmas.

Data in the GTA Online files suggests that mansion owners can host parties and install custom arcade cabinets, among other things. Think of them like an expanded version of the Diamond Casino penthouse. Things are still subject to change, but considering Rockstar literally left files named “MANSION_TEASER” for dataminers to find, it feels like they wanted us to know at least a little bit of this info.

They’ll be brand-new buildings too, so we won’t just be moving into existing properties that we’ve been driving by for years. Leaks place the mansions on the expensive northern side of Los Santos, far away enough to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city streets but still close enough to have a nice view of the skyline.

It also seems like these mansions will be purchased from a new vendor instead of the usual Dynasty 8 real estate. Datamined files mention “Prix Luxury Real Estate,” so the mansions could mark the beginning of a new series of luxury properties for players to blow their cash on.

There may be a small teaser update before the mansions actually come to the game, since the files also mention an “exclusive discount” and that Prix Luxury Real Estate “will be in contact again when properties become available.”

GTA Online 2025 holiday events

Before we get mansions, there are the usual holiday events to look forward to. Halloween and Christmas are the big two to watch, and Rockstar has a history of adding a bunch of free stuff for these two holidays.

GTA Online’s 2025 Halloween event will bring back all of the spooky festivities from previous years, with bonus RP and GTA$ rewards on certain Halloween-themed playlists and a few new clothing items to earn. Ghosts will also haunt the streets of Los Santos once more, and paranormal investigators can make some extra cash for snapping pictures of the wandering spirits.

Plus, Rockstar has added some new things to the game lately that hint at an even bigger Halloween celebration. Zombies have invaded Cayo Perico in the latest Survival playlist, for example, and there’s no way Rockstar doesn’t repurpose the undead hordes for other Halloween content.

At the very least, there’ll probably be bonus rewards for Cayo Perico Zombie Survival when the time comes.

GTA Online Christmas 2025

Christmas is coming back in GTA Online this December, but the snowy season doesn’t seem as exciting as the spooky season this year.

You can still expect to see all the usual festivities in GTA Online’s Christmas event, including holiday-themed outfits, free winter weaponry like snowballs and firework launchers, and festive weapon skins.

Previous holiday events like the Weasel Plaza Shootout will return as well so you can unlock their rewards if you missed out last year. On top of that, snowmen will be scattered across the map and The Yeti will rise from hibernation once more. Keep your head on a swivel too, because The Gooch will also return to terrorize the streets of Los Santos yet again.

Other than that, there’s not a whole lot of info about GTA Online’s Christmas update this year. Last year’s holiday event added some highly-anticipated vehicles like police cars, so hopefully Rockstar continues that trend this year. Even if Rockstar deems the GTA Online community to be naughty instead of nice, there will still be snowfall in San Andreas at the very least.

GTA Online age verification

Age verification has been creeping up in a bunch of online games lately, and GTA Online is next on the list according to datamined info.

References to age verification in GTA Online have been found in the game’s files, so it’s only a matter of time before you’ll have to give Rockstar some of your personal info to keep playing the game. It might seem a bit strange considering GTA Online is rated M, but just think about how many kids you hear screaming in freemode lobbies.

It appears that there will be multiple levels to age verification. Some age groups won’t be able to access GTA Online at all, while others can play with restricted text chat or disabled phone messages. This update is coming sooner rather than later, but it’ll come out on a region-by-region basis depending on local laws.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Celebrates Upcoming Launch With Lucha Libre Showdown

Pokemon Legends: Z-A launches for Switch consoles soon, and to celebrate, the Pokemon Company has announced a special event for the game that will feature live lucha libre wrestling. Also known as the best form of wrestling by people of quality, the event will kick off on September 25 at Arena Mexico in Mexico City.

The Pokemon Company says the showcase will feature four exhibition matches, with one of the confirmed performers being Mistico–who performed in the WWE during the early 2010s under the ring name of Sin Cara. The Pokemon Company added that tickets for the event will go on sale soon, but if you can’t make it, the matches will be streamed via the official Pokemon and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre YouTube channels.

Now Playing: Pokemon Legends Z-A – The Biggest Pokemon Shake Up In Decades!

The announcement was made shortly after the reveal of a brand-new Mega Evolution for Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Fittingly, the Pokemon getting the power-up in the game is Hawlucha, a Luchador-themed Pokemon with unique high-flying moves in its arsenal. Hawlucha’s Mega Evolution doubles down on its wrestling inspiration, giving it ornate plumage and making it look ready for a main event match at the next Wrestlemania.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A launches on October 16 for Switch 2 and Switch, and the previous Mega Evolution reveal was done in a manner that makes a strong case for a Pokemon horror movie. The game also changes up the usual turn-based gameplay format by introducing real-time battles and free-for-all showdowns that up to four players can participate in.

Everything you need to know about the new features in the upcoming iPhone update

In just over a week, the Apple iPhone 17 event will be here — it’s Tuesday, September 9 — and we’ll finally get to see the new iPhone 17 lineup. Assuming Apple sticks to tradition, we should be able to install iOS 26 roughly one week after the event. But you don’t have to wait to test out the new features because you can download and install the newly released public beta 5 (or iOS 26 developer beta 8 for developers). I’ve been playing around with it for the past couple of weeks, and have found that taking screenshots is way better in the new operating system, as well as getting to choose how long you snooze. Even the refreshed Camera app is easier to navigate. You can see a more complete view of the new features in our preview of the iOS 26 public beta release, which shows off the fresh home and lock screen redesign. Called Liquid Glass, the translucent look will extend across all of Apple’s upcoming operating systems. The overhaul is one of several big changes coming to iOS, macOS, iPadOS and the rest of Apple’s software suite, all of which were showcased during the company’s WWDC keynote on June 9.

After overpromising on AI plans last year, Apple kept its iOS roadmap focused more on basic quality of life improvements this year. There are multiple useful additions coming to the Phone and Messages apps on your iPhone, for instance: Apple execs outlined the ability to weed out spam texts or other unknown senders and an option to hold your spot on a phone call when you’ve been waiting for a representative to pick up. Plus, a treasured feature that we took for granted is coming back (hint: it’s in the Photos app).

With each beta, it seems like additional new improvements are popping up, like this new AirPods gesture we’re all curious about, and this FaceTime feature that’ll freeze your video if it detects nudity. With the release of the iOS 26 developer beta 5, we saw more added features, like a new bouncy animation on the passcode screen and in the Control Center, MacRumors reports. Some or all of those changes will likely soon migrate into the separate public beta (see below). Most newer iPhone models are eligible to download iOS 26 (both the betas and final version). What is iOS 26?

The current iPhone operating system is iOS 18, and Apple is still actively updating it — version 18.6.1 was released to restore Apple Watch blood oxygen monitoring functionality for certain users in the US. More recently, Apple released 18.6.2 to address a vulnerability related to image processing. Apple has officially stopped signing iOS 18.6, MacRumors reports, which means it can no longer be installed on your iPhone due to a “server-side software verification check.” That’s pretty normal when newer versions are available to download.

But don’t expect to see iOS 19 soon — or ever. Instead, Apple is skipping the numbering ahead to iOS 26 next month. The company has decided to line up its iOS version numbers with a year-based system, similar to car model years. So while iOS and its sibling operating systems will be released in late 2025, they’re all designated “26” to reflect the year ahead.

What is Liquid Glass design?

Let’s be honest. Out of everything announced at WWDC this year, the new Liquid Glass design was the star of the show. The iPhone’s home and lock screens have looked pretty much the same year after year — the last exciting thing (in my opinion) was the option to add your own aesthetic to your home screen by customizing your apps and widgets. So seeing the home and lock screens’ new facelift is refreshing.

So what exactly is Liquid Glass? Apple calls it a “new translucent material” since, well, the apps and widgets are clear. However, the screen can still adapt to dark and light modes, depending on surroundings. You’ll also notice buttons with a new floating design in several apps, like Phone and Maps. They’re designed to be less distracting than the current buttons, but are still easy to see. While the design overhaul has proven to be controversial since its announcement, some — including Engadget’s own Devindra Hardawar — like the new direction, even if it’s somewhat reminiscent of Microsoft’s translucent Windows Vista Aero designs from nearly twenty years ago.

That said, as of the release of the iOS 26 beta 2, Apple has already incorporated some user feedback into the design, dialing back the transparency in at least some places. And while it will continue to evolve, Apple users won’t be able to escape it: Liquid Glass was designed to make all of Apple’s OSes more cohesive. Here’s a look at how the translucent aesthetic will look with the new macOS Tahoe 26 on your desktop.

What are the new and notable features of iOS 26?

iOS 26 has a laundry list of new features. Among the most worthwhile:

Phone app redesign: You’ll finally be able to scroll through contacts, recent calls and voicemail messages all on one screen. It also comes with a new feature called Hold Assist that’ll notify you when an agent comes to the phone so you can avoid the elevator music and continue on with other tasks.

Live Translation in Phone, FaceTime and Messages: iOS 26 is bringing the ability to have a conversation via phone call or text message with someone who speaks another language. Live Translation will translate your conversation in real time, which results in some stop-and-go interactions in the examples Apple shared during its presentation.

Polls in group chats: Tired of sorting through what seems like hundreds of messages in your group chat? You and your friends will soon be able to create polls in group messages for deciding things like which brunch spot you’re eating at or whose car you’re taking on a road trip.

Filtering unknown senders in Messages: If you haven’t received spam texts about unpaid tolls or other citations, you’re lucky. For those of us who have, those annoying messages will soon be filtered away in a separate folder.

Visual Intelligence: Similar to a reverse Google image search, this new feature will allow you to search for anything that’s on your iPhone screen. For instance, if you spot a pair of shoes someone is wearing in an Instagram photo, you can screenshot it and use Visual Intelligence to find those shoes (or similar ones) online.

Photos tabs are back: For anyone who’s still frustrated with the Photos changes made last year, you’ll be happy to know that your tabs are coming back. Library and Collections will have their own separate spaces so you don’t have to scroll to infinity to find what you’re looking for.

FaceTime “Communication Safety” feature: A newer addition to iOS 26 appears to be the FaceTime “Communication Safety” feature that pauses communications if and when nudity is detected. The feature appears to be a child safety feature that uses on-device detection, thus obviating any cloud-based privacy issues.

New lock screen options: The iPhone lock screen gets more customizable in iOS 26, with a cooler clock, 3D wallpaper effects, more widgets and better focus mode options.

New changes coming to iPadOS 26

Your iPad isn’t getting left behind when it comes to big updates. Here’s what’s coming this fall.

Multitasking and real windowing: When you download the newest update, you’ll be able to have multiple apps running on your screen at the same time. Once you open an app, it’ll appear on your screen as normal but you’ll be able to resize and move it across your screen to make room for other apps. This feature is optional so you can turn it off if you don’t like it.

Visual update: Along with the other new OSes, iPadOS 26 is coming with the Liquid Glass aesthetic. This new look will appear on the lock and home screens, as well as the drop-down menus.

New menu bar: When you swipe down on your screen, the new menu bar will appear with options like File, Edit, Windows and more. There’s also a search option if you’re looking for something specific.

What about AirPods?

AirPods are also getting updated with iOS 26. Here are some of the more notable functions.

Enhanced audio recording: Apple calls this “studio-quality” audio recording, and with it, you’ll notice more clarity while in noisy environments.

Camera remote control: Using this, you can take a photo or start and stop video recording with just one press on your AirPods. When taking photos, you’ll get a three-second countdown before your iPhone or iPad snaps the picture.

Live translation feature: While not officially announced or confirmed, it appears that the long-rumored live translation for AirPods could be coming with iOS 26. The evidence comes from a system asset spotted in the in iOS 26 beta showing a gesture that’s triggered by pressing both earbud stems at the same time. The photo also shows words in several different languages.

Heart rate monitoring (rumored for now): Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman believes Apple will introduce new AirPods Pro earbuds this year, which could have heart rate monitoring. It would work with Apple’s Health app and other fitness apps that track heart rates.

Will Siri get an update?

Siri is in a holding pattern. Apple has previously specified that its smarter voice assistant — first promised at WWDC 2024 — is delayed until some point “in the coming year,” so you shouldn’t expect any major changes in the current betas. But there are reports that Apple is aiming to give Siri a bigger brain transplant by basing it on third-party artificial intelligence models like OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Anthropic’s Claude, which could make 2026 a pivotal year. The company is also reportedly working on a “stripped-down” AI chatbot to rival ChatGPT.

Which iPhones will be able to upgrade to iOS 26?

A few iPhone models that run the current version of iOS — iPhone XR, XS and XS Max — won’t be compatible with the latest upgrade. But any iPhones released in 2019 or later will be eligible for the iOS 26 update.

iPhone SE (second generation or later)

Not listed here are the presumed new iPhone 17 models (or maybe iPhone 26?) that are all but certain to be announced and released in September.

How to install iOS 26 beta

The iOS 26 public beta is now available to download via the Apple Beta Software Program. If you’re not already a member, you’ll need to sign up to try out all the latest features. Just visit beta.apple.com and sign up with your phone number or email address. It’s free.

Once you’re in, you can install it by going to Settings > General > Software Update and selecting iOS 26 public beta.

A word of caution: Don’t sign up with your main iPhone unless you’re OK with any risks that occur with using an OS that isn’t finalized.

When will the final version of iOS 26 be released?

iOS 26 will be released to the public this fall. It usually comes in September, within a week of the Apple iPhone event. Last year, it rolled out to iPhone users on September 16 — exactly one week after the iPhone 16 lineup was announced. Since the iPhone 17 event falls on September 9 this year, it’s possible the downloads will hit our phones on September 16.

The First Descendant livestream unveils upcoming Season 3 updates

September is just around the bend, as is The First Descendant’s next big update. Season 3 isn’t over, and the team at NEXON hosted a livestream to show off what they’ve been cooking. There’s a lot to love in this reload, check out the details below.

In case you missed it, NEXON and The First Descendant development team hosted a livestream that revealed key details and announcements about The First Descendant’s upcoming September update.

Highlights of the livestream include:

Ultimate Luna Update
- An ultimate version of the Descendant Luna.
- Two new upgrade modules will be added that allow Ultimate Luna to function as a debuffer or wield firearms.
- Players can watch Luna’s new story, unveiling details about her past.
Lounge Update
- The lounge is a dedicated space in Albion where players can relax and showcase their Descendants.
- Players can display a variety of collectibles, including Descendants, Fellows and Hover Bikes.
New Trigger Modules
- ‘Storm Bullet’ creates a fixed orb-shaped area at the point where a piercing projectile skill hits, dealing continuous damage to enemies.
- ‘Tactical Acceleration’ temporarily enhances the shooting and movement abilities of the player and nearby party members when using a supply skill.
- ‘Blazing Zone’ creates a fixed orb-shaped area when using a towing skill, inflicting continuous damage at the skill activation point.
- These new Trigger Modules can be farmed in Axion.
Lepic Rework
- Improved mobility allows Lepic to regroup with allies more quickly and provide long-range damage support even during distant engagement.
QoL Improvements
- Players will now be able to view the descendant builds of players in the leaderboards.
- Party searches will be enhanced, helping players to form parties based on recommendations

Sword of Justice: NetEase’s Sword of Justice is a free-to-play, open-world multiplayer social RPG developed by ZhuRong Studio. It seamlessly blends expansive exploration with groundbreaking interactions and brings to life the cultural tapestry of the Northern Song Dynasty in late 12th century China. The game has already launched in China, with over 40 million gamers playing in the first month, and it’s preparing for a global release. On Aug 29, the PC version in China is adding DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, and NVIDIA Reflex, as well as DLSS Ray Reconstruction, which further enhances the update’s new path-traced effects.
Wuthering Waves: Desolated by the Lament, civilization is born anew in KURO GAMES’ open world title, Wuthering Waves. As the world of Solaris-3 unfolds, your lost memory begins to see its recovery through a ceaseless quest in the game’s expansive world. Since launch, Wuthering Waves has continually expanded its suite of RTX tech, which includes support for DLSS Frame Generation, DLSS Super Resolution, NVIDIA Reflex, and ray-traced reflections. But on August 28th, a new update adds support for DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, multiplying frame rates for GeForce RTX 50 Series owners by 4.3X on average at 4K with ray tracing enabled and other settings maxed out.
Starship Troopers: Extermination: Offworld Industries’ Starship Troopers: Extermination is a 16-player co-op first-person shooter. Circle (CRCL) Acquires Malachite to Power Its Upcoming Blockchain Arc

Stablecoin issuer Circle (CRCL) has acquired Malachite, the consensus engine that is set to underpin payments-focused blockchain Arc, from software development firm Informal Systems, according to a Monday press release.

Several people from Informal Systems will join Circle as part of the acquisition. The firms didn’t reveal details about pricing.

The deal comes as Circle, the company behind the $65 billion USDC (USDC) token, announced last week it’s building its own layer-1 blockchain designed for stablecoin finances, a recent trend among asset issuers aiming to capitalize on the booming sector. Stablecoins, a set of cryptocurrencies with prices tied to an external asset like the U.S. dollar, are projected to become a trillion dollar market and disrupt cross-border payments.

Malachite was built around the Tendermint consensus algorithm and was designed for flexibility and correctness in decentralized systems. Informal Systems developed it as a reusable foundation for blockchain infrastructure, with a focus on performance and security.

Malachite will remain open source under the Apache 2.0 license, leaving developers free to use and extend the technology, the press release said. Informal will continue supporting other use cases for Malachite and advance its other projects, including tools for distributed systems and cross-chain infrastructure.

EA’s upcoming Skate understands that the soundtrack is just as important as the gameplay, confirms over 100 songs

When you think of skateboarding games, what is the first thing you think of? For me, it’s the music – whether it was being introduced to the impeccable drum work of Josh Freese in The Vandals’ Euro-Barge on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1, trying to get my voice as high as 3 Inches of Blood’s singer in Deadly Sinners in Tony Hawk’s Underground 2, or learning how to play Jack White’s part in Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine after hearing it in Skate, music is an integral part of these games.

The recent THPS 1+2 and 3+4 remasters understand this, and bring a nice mix of classic and modern music to the re-releases that (I think) represents what skate culture should always be about: honouring legacy and trying new stuff. EA’s upcoming Skate reboot seems to have got this brief, too, as today the publisher has announced that the game will have “over 100 songs” featured on the in-game soundtrack.

Pleasantly, these will vary from the likes of upcoming acts like Denzel Curry and Turnstile – yes, I know they’re four albums in, but they’re also only just breaking through to the mainstream – and more classic acts like MF Doom and Earth, Wind & Fire.

“[Skate will have] over 100 songs, with hits from emerging artists and deep cuts to help players discover new music as they skate through San Vansterdam,” reads a press release. “Each session stays fresh and high energy, and like San Vansterdam itself, the soundtrack will evolve with every season.”

Music licensing is a real pain for game developers; we’ve previously seen entire titles delisted from digital storefronts due to music licensing issues. By keeping the in-game track list fresh and changing it with the seasons, the publisher can better control what goes in and out of the game, and simply remove a track from rotation if the license expires. I think that’s also a better example of skate culture, to be honest: in my misspend adolescence in skate parks, I learned so much new, interesting music from listening to what the other skaters were blasting out of their crappy, battery-powered speakers hooked up to their iPods (I was just a bit too old for the boombox era, sadly).

So far, Little Simz and Skeggs are also mentioned for the soundtrack, but not a lot of other bands are confirmed yet. So that’s six out of – assumedly – 100 artists we’ve locked in. There’s plenty of scope for some really cool stuff to get in here. Just do me a favour, EA, and don’t include Lupe Fiasco’s Kick, Push. It’s been done to death at this point. If you want mellow, go for something like Brave Baby’s Plastic Skateboard, instead: it’s far better for those late night sessions on the concrete with your pals.
