Circle (CRCL) Acquires Malachite to Power Its Upcoming Blockchain Arc

by admin August 18, 2025

Stablecoin issuer Circle (CRCL) has acquired Malachite, the consensus engine that is set to underpin payments-focused blockchain Arc, from software development firm Informal Systems, according to a Monday press release.

Several people from Informal Systems will join Circle as part of the acquisition. The firms didn’t reveal details about pricing.

The deal comes as Circle, the company behind the $65 billion USDC (USDC) token, announced last week it’s building its own layer-1 blockchain designed for stablecoin finances, a recent trend among asset issuers aiming to capitalize on the booming sector. Stablecoins, a set of cryptocurrencies with prices tied to an external asset like the U.S. dollar, are projected to become a trillion dollar market and disrupt cross-border payments.

Malachite was built around the Tendermint consensus algorithm and was designed for flexibility and correctness in decentralized systems. Informal Systems developed it as a reusable foundation for blockchain infrastructure, with a focus on performance and security.

Malachite will remain open source under the Apache 2.0 license, leaving developers free to use and extend the technology, the press release said. Informal will continue supporting other use cases for Malachite and advance its other projects, including tools for distributed systems and cross-chain infrastructure.

EA’s upcoming Skate understands that the soundtrack is just as important as the gameplay, confirms over 100 songs

by admin August 18, 2025

When you think of skateboarding games, what is the first thing you think of? For me, it’s the music – whether it was being introduced to the impeccable drum work of Josh Freese in The Vandals’ Euro-Barge on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1, trying to get my voice as high as 3 Inches of Blood’s singer in Deadly Sinners in Tony Hawk’s Underground 2, or learning how to play Jack White’s part in Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine after hearing it in Skate, music is an integral part of these games.

The recent THPS 1+2 and 3+4 remasters understand this, and bring a nice mix of classic and modern music to the re-releases that (I think) represents what skate culture should always be about: honouring legacy and trying new stuff. EA’s upcoming Skate reboot seems to have got this brief, too, as today the publisher has announced that the game will have “over 100 songs” featured on the in-game soundtrack.

Back to the grind. | Image credit: EA

Pleasantly, these will vary from the likes of upcoming acts like Denzel Curry and Turnstile – yes, I know they’re four albums in, but they’re also only just breaking through to the mainstream – and more classic acts like MF Doom and Earth, Wind & Fire.

“[Skate will have] over 100 songs, with hits from emerging artists and deep cuts to help players discover new music as they skate through San Vansterdam,” reads a press release. “Each session stays fresh and high energy, and like San Vansterdam itself, the soundtrack will evolve with every season.”

Music licensing is a real pain for game developers; we’ve previously seen entire titles delisted from digital storefronts due to music licensing issues. By keeping the in-game track list fresh and changing it with the seasons, the publisher can better control what goes in and out of the game, and simply remove a track from rotation if the license expires. I think that’s also a better example of skate culture, to be honest: in my misspend adolescence in skate parks, I learned so much new, interesting music from listening to what the other skaters were blasting out of their crappy, battery-powered speakers hooked up to their iPods (I was just a bit too old for the boombox era, sadly).

So far, Little Simz and Skeggs are also mentioned for the soundtrack, but not a lot of other bands are confirmed yet. So that’s six out of – assumedly – 100 artists we’ve locked in. There’s plenty of scope for some really cool stuff to get in here. Just do me a favour, EA, and don’t include Lupe Fiasco’s Kick, Push. It’s been done to death at this point. If you want mellow, go for something like Brave Baby’s Plastic Skateboard, instead: it’s far better for those late night sessions on the concrete with your pals.

After suffering an influx of overwhelmingly negative Steam reviews, can Capcom turn around Monster Hunter Wilds with the upcoming Title Update 2?

by admin June 23, 2025

Monster Hunter Wilds has been having a rough time of it lately. Over the course of the past week, Capcom’s seventh ‘main’ Monster Hunter title has racked up over 2,000 negative reviews. Most embittered reviewers are lamenting the game’s poor PC performance, whilst others criticise Capcom for the poor optimisation and lack of PC-specific support.

Others bemoan the much slower update cadence the game has received since launch – which is quite light when compared with the previous two games in the series, World and Rise. A popular post by Monster Hunter megafan and content creator, ShinCry, which you can see below, highlights the somewhat scant offering Wilds has had compared to the previous games in the same timespan.

ShinCry’s chart shows the discrepancy between the last three mainline Monster Hunter games. | Image credit: ShinCry

Whilst most of the reviews are fixated on the technical (specifically citing crashes, stuttering, and visual bugs in Wilds), others are getting frustrated with the lack of communication from Capcom, that has been somewhat tight-lipped on what – if anything – it plans to do about all the negative feedback. One complaint fans repeatedly raise about the game is the difficulty and the lack of end-game content – something very important in the health of a Monster Hunter title. “[Capcom] charged $70 for a game that feels like it has less content than its precursors,” reads one highly-rated Steam review, for example.

Some even claim that the updates Capcom has added since the game’s launch on February 28th have made PC performance worse. And that’s saying something. All eyes are on the next big content drop in the game, coming 30th June: can this update address all the issues players have with Capcom’s tentpole release for 2025? Probably not, but at least all of us carving enthusiasts have something to look forward to.

Lagiacrus is no joke, and many are hoping it will be a tough fight. | Image credit: Capcom

Officially, we know that we’re getting at least one “fan-favourite” monster as part of Title Update 2: Lagiacrus, the underwater leviathan. Thanks to a (now removed) update on the Monster Hunter Wilds page on the PlayStation Store, however, we also know more about what we can expect from the incoming update.

The page disclosed that we’re actually getting two “fan-favourite” monsters in this update. Datamines around the game suggest this may be Seregios – known to long-time fans of the series as ‘Steve’ for ridiculous fandom-related reasons – which will hopefully prove to be a tougher opponent than many of the monsters seen in-game to date. As well as the leviathan and Steve, which is based on the real-world Secretary Bird, we will also get an Arch-Tempered Uth Duna, layered weapons to satiate the needs of all the Fashion Hunters out there, and a couple more events over the coming weeks and months.

But will this be enough? Capcom still hasn’t said much about planned performance improvements for the title, nor has it promised balance changes or tweaks providing extra challenge to seasoned pros itching for more of a fight. We’re going to get more solid news about this update at this week’s Capcom Spotlight on Thursday, 26th June, but many fans are dubious about their actual issues being addressed.

At the time of writing, Monster Hunter Wilds has just one percent of the concurrent players it did at launch; that’s not surprising in itself, since we’re a good five months out from launch, but given how ‘sticky’ past Monster Hunter games have been, figures like that will no doubt be setting alarm bells off at Capcom HQ.

The numbers paint a bleak picture for Capcom. | Image credit: SteamDB

I love the Seregios fight, and I think the wounds system and slightly more mobile play style in Wilds will really suit the monster. So I know I’ll be jumping back in to enjoy that, and see how it all works within Wilds’ more developed ecosystem. But I play on console, and the version I play does not suffer from the same issues disenfranchised Steam players have been kicking up such a fuss about over the past week.

I also think a more robust and varied set of events can help turn things around for Wilds. So far, many of the special event quests added to the game have offered insignificant or otherwise forgettable rewards for players, and I wasn’t even that enthused by the Street Fighter collaboration that was added to the game in May, and I’m a bonafide Street Fighter apologist.

Capcom has generated a lot of positive consumer sentiment in the past few years. Between great quality games, a selection of interesting products across multiple genres, and – usually – pretty good comms with its players, the publisher has garnered quite the reputation. To see it marred by out-of-character post-launch support for Wilds seems odd. I know game development takes longer, and drinks more resources, than it did back in the World and Rise cycles, but you’d think the publisher would be keen to press that message publicly, instead of sitting back and letting players stew like they are as we’re awaiting the deployment of Title Update 2.

I think Capcom has what it takes to turn the fortunes of Monster Hunter Wilds around. It took seven patches for the publisher to figure out the issues with Dragon’s Dogma 2 back in 2024, and I’m just hoping Capcom can work that same engineering magic with Monster Hunter Wilds before it’s too late.

After all, I do not want to have to wait until the inevitable Sunbreak- or Iceborne-style DLC in order to really get the most out of what I think has the potential to be one of the best games in the series.

The Blood of Dawnwalker developers share a look at gameplay from the upcoming vampire fantasy RPG

by admin June 22, 2025

One of the games that really caught my eye during the Xbox Games Showcase at the beginning of June was The Blood of Dawnwalker, a dark fantasy action-RPG from Rebel Wolves, the studio co-founded by Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz. First teased earlier this year, The Blood of Dawnwalker is a single-player open-world game set in a version of 14th-century Europe that’s crawling with vampires.

The first two trailers gave us a bit of a glimpse at what the gameplay will be like, but the developer has now shared an in-depth look in a 21-minute video, which you can watch below. It looks pretty sick — but keep in mind that this footage is from the “pre-beta” game, so there’s still a lot of polishing to be done.

In The Blood of Dawnwalker, “You play as Coen, a young man turned into a Dawnwalker, forever treading the line between the world of day and the realm of night. Fight for your humanity or embrace the cursed powers to save your family.” It’s slated to hit PC, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2026.

In case you were wondering, Xbox does have plans for what comes after the Xbox Series consoles. Today, they revealed their collaboration with AMD, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. Starlight Re:Volver is an upcoming anime as hell Hades-esque, MMO inspired roguelite that already has the vibe

by admin June 14, 2025

I’m not much of an MMO person, I’ve dabbled over the years like with RuneScape in my youth, and a bit of Final Fantasy 14. These days it’s the level of commitment that puts me off, even though I really do love being able to partake in what feels like living, breathing worlds, the hustle and bustle of actual people going to and fro. Luckily, I think I have a lower-key way to get this kind of feeling in the upcoming action roguelite Starlight Re:Volver.

Right from the first second of Starlight Re:Volver you’ll absolutely be thinking to yourself “oh, this is anime as hell.” That’ll be offputting to some, maybe, but it does so with such a ridiculous degree of finesse and style, I was won over right out the gate. The core gameplay loop is that you set out on runs with up to three of your friends, going through different rooms with waves of enemies across them, picking up abilities and buffs along the way.

Watch on YouTube

It definitely seems like there’s a Hades-like approach to the game, though the demo that’s currently available for Steam Next Fest is more like an online playtest above all else. Right now I’d say there’s a bit of an onboarding issue, as the game doesn’t really do much to tell you much about anything, but with multiple characters to choose from all with unique playstyles, I had a fun enough time in the few runs I went through.

All of that can be smoothed over of course, I’m not that worried about that, so the real thing that’s pulling me in so far is the vibes. The game’s Steam page refers to itself as an “anime-inspired MMO universe”, and the game’s hub area certainly offers a slice of such a pie up.

There’s an in-world Suika Game rip-off to play, a fishing mini-game, clothes to unlock, different areas to just hang out in. You can see different players running around too, and even if there’s not much to do right now, it really does capture that specific feeling of being in a virtual place with a whole bunch of strangers.

How that may progress whenever the game comes out, I can’t tell you, it’s certainly something I hope to see expanded upon. In the meantime, you can wishlist the game on Steam here, and you have until June 16th to try out the demo for yourself.

MindsEye's CPR Mini-Game Is Getting Nerfed In Upcoming Patch

MindsEye’s CPR Mini-Game Is Getting Nerfed In Upcoming Patch

by admin June 14, 2025

A very annoying CPR mini-game featured in the opening hours of MindsEye has proven to be so difficult and frustrating for players that the developers are going to make it easier. Hopefully, that will help players stuck at this part in the game move forward, though they might not enjoy what awaits them.

A Hot-Fix Is On The Way For MindsEye’s Frustrating CPR Mini-Game

MindsEye is having a rough launch. The semi-open-world action game from former GTA producer Lezlie Benzies’ studio, Build A Rocket Boy, launched earlier this week on consoles and PC in a messy, buggy, and unoptimized state. Players are reporting that the new game runs at less than 30 FPS on PS5 Pro. Others have encountered disturbing bugs that remind me of shit from Assassin’s Creed Unity. And even when everything works, the gameplay feels like it was ripped out of GTA V, complete with a similar weapon wheel and cover shooting. But many players haven’t seen most of the main game because of a difficult CPR mini-game that pops up early on.

Around two hours into MindsEye, your character is put into a situation where they must save someone who has valuable information. The person is dying, and you are forced to do CPR to stabilize them while medics arrive. To do this, you have to complete a mini-game that requires you to push the controller’s triggers at the same time in a specific rhythm, and then move your sticks along a pathway. Screw any of this up a few times and you have to start all over. When I reached this point, it took me about 10 tries to finally nail it. Others aren’t able to get past the CPR section at all.

“I’m pretty upset. I’ve been trying to get past this part. So I can continue to enjoy the game, but I’m stuck here,” said one person in the comments of a video guide for the CPR mini-game. “Like every time I do it, it just does not work. I’ve tried everything, and I feel like it’s something that they need to fix because it’s bullshit.”

“Is there any way around this part? Mine don’t work or something,” said another user under the same video.

“I don’t know who the hell made the mechanics in this game, but they literally did not know what the hell they were doing. This part of the game took me 30 minutes to get right, and I was ready to quit the game right then and there LOL,” said another person.

Looking over at the MindsEye subreddit, you can spot many, many players claiming they are stuck at the CPR mini-game, or that it took them a very long time to complete it and continue playing the actual game.

“Bruh, I’ve been stuck there 30 minutes,” commented a Reddit user on a post about the mini-game.

“This stupid mini-game that I can’t beat or skip is gonna be why I quit,” said another player.

The situation has gotten so bad that Build A Rocket Boy has noticed. The studio has confirmed that it will make the CPR mini-game easier via a hot-fix in the next few days. While it’s a small improvement in a game that needs a lot more work, many MindsEye players will likely be happy that in a few short days they’ll finally be free of having to replay that damn CPR mini-game over and over and over and over….

Upcoming creature catcher Aniimo draws Palworld and DokeV comparisons

Upcoming creature catcher Aniimo draws Palworld and DokeV comparisons

by admin June 9, 2025

There’s another creature-catching game on the horizon. This one is known as Aniimo, and is described as a “new free-to-play, next-gen creature-catching open-world ARPG”, which is set for Xbox Series X/S, PC and mobile some time next year.

Announced as part of this evening’s Xbox showcase, Aniimo is coming from Pawprint Studio, and it all looks a bit like Palworld and DokeV. Anyway, it seems it will be very cute and fluffy, taking place on the “interactive and expansive open world” of Idyll.

Pawprint Studio’s upcoming game will cast players as a Pathfinder, who will have to “collect, evolve, and twine with magical creatures” known as Aniimo. Twining is the “merging”of players and their Aniimo, and this will allow players to unlock more abilities, different perspectives, and “new and unique ways to play”, the developer explained.

You can check out a trailer for Aniimo below.

Aniimo Reveal Trailer | Xbox Games Showcase 2025. Watch on YouTube

“Like every other player, the Aniimo team has always believed that one day, there will be a game that exists that makes all our dreams come true. Instead of waiting any longer, we created it ourselves,” said Jovi Zhang, Pawpring Studio’s executive producer

“Every day we are discovering more about the Aniimo’s personalities, their interactions, their stories and their environment. The world of Aniimo is now ready for you to explore with us, and we can’t wait to see you there!”

Are you interested?

Also this evening, we got a look at the once-rumoured Persona 4 remake (it’s real!), as well as a first teaser for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

Big Chance, Be Ready for XRP Surprises Upcoming, Bitcoin (BTC) Ready to Dive?

by admin June 9, 2025

  • XRP’s unexpected plunge
  • Bitcoin at locals

Perhaps one of the most pivotal points in Shiba Inu’s recent market history is about to happen. The meme token is showing indications that a breakout might be closer than it appears, not on the surface but underneath, despite its lackluster price action over the past few weeks.

SHIB’s price has been trapped below significant resistance levels such as the 100 and 200 day moving averages. SHIB is trading at about $0.0000125 at the time of writing, which is just above the crucial structural and psychological support level of $0.0000120. This level has been tested numerous times in the past, so a significant bounce here might signal a local reversal.

SHIB/USDT Chart by TradingView

SHIB isn’t in overheated territory and still has room to run, according to the RSI, which is close to 40. Here’s the shocking part though: SHIB’s on-chain data indicates a sharp increase in the volume of large transactions. A six-month high of over 24 trillion SHIB was transferred through whale transactions on June 5, according to IntoTheBlock. This indicates a major accumulation or redistribution event, especially when combined with more than 500 large transactions in a single day.

A reversal or rally is frequently hinted at when such a high volume changes hands as the price consolidates close to support. Here’s where the big chance is relevant. Momentum may shift if SHIB can hold support above $0.0000120 and recover the resistance range of $0.0000134-$0.0000138.

Depending on new capital inflows and improved market sentiment, a successful breakout could result in a rise toward $0.0000155 and beyond. Traders and investors should keep a close eye on this setup. The combination of technical support and robust whale activity offers SHIB its best chance in weeks to overcome stagnation and resume an upward trajectory, but it does not ensure a breakout.

XRP’s unexpected plunge

Investors should prepare for surprises as XRP is showing indications of impending volatility. The asset has reached a crucial point on the chart following a period of sideways movement and waning momentum, and it may not remain there for long. A descending trendline that had been holding down the price since early May was recently broken by XRP from a technical perspective.

A potential change in sentiment is suggested by this breakout and a bounce from the 200 EMA. For a short-term rally toward $2.25 and $2.30, the price is currently trading at about $2.14, just above significant moving averages like the 50 and 100 EMA, which may serve as both support and launching pads. The true wild card in this situation though is off the chart. On-chain metrics, which are not displayed in the current image but are pertinent for context, indicate that the volume of large transactions has drastically decreased in recent days.

There might be a brief lull before the storm due to this decline in whale activity. Historically, either as a result of aggressive sell-offs or strategic accumulation, these quiet periods from major holders typically precede sharp moves. The bottom RSI indicator is moderately strong, indicating that there is still room for upward price movement and that the asset is not overbought.

In addition to a confirmed descending resistance breakout and increasing support at the long-term moving average, the setup is ready for volatility. XRP seems poised for a move that might surprise a lot of people. The waning whale activity might just be a brief hiatus before major players return and forcefully influence price action. It is possible that the upside breakout scenario will prevail if the asset continues to move above $2.08-$2.10.

Bitcoin at locals

Following a brief recovery, Bitcoin is testing a local resistance zone and flirting with uncertainty once more. The asset is currently trading at about $105,500, and although the short-term trend indicates consolidation, the longer-term outlook points to possible turbulence, especially if Bitcoin is unable to maintain above important levels.

According to the chart, Bitcoin is currently trading close to the upper end of a recently formed ascending trendline, but it is also running into significant resistance just below the $108,000 mark, which served as a rejection point during its previous unsuccessful breakout attempt.

A correction could easily push the asset below $100,000, retesting psychological and technical support levels as momentum seems to be waning. Price action has so far respected the 50 EMA (blue), which is currently serving as dynamic support. But any decline below this moving average, particularly on a daily close, would cause sentiment to change and pave the way for a more significant decline toward the $98,000-$96,000 range, where the 100 EMA is waiting.

The next significant target for bears may be the 200 EMA close to $91,700 if that level also breaks. There is still not much volume, which suggests that neither side is very convinced. The RSI has also been unable to generate any significant upward momentum, remaining in the mid-range region with no discernible bullish divergence.
