MetaMask Unveils $30M LINEA Token Onchain Rewards Program

MetaMask, a self custody cryptocurrency wallet, announced the upcoming launch of its MetaMask Rewards program, setting the stage to distribute over $30 million in LINEA token incentives during its inaugural season. 

The announcement, made through a post on X, as MetaMask continues to expand its offerings beyond basic transaction capabilities, having integrated features such as token swaps, staking, and portfolio management.

The company stated the program is designed to be a “genuine method of regularly giving back to [our] community” and is expected to roll out fully within the next few weeks. The wallet provider has also made it easier for users to claim eligible tokens directly through its MetaMask Portfolio interface

Reward Program Details and Scope

The rewards program, which the company emphasizes is “not a farming play,” is being positioned as one of the largest onchain rewards initiatives built. While specific eligibility criteria were not detailed, the rewards will include referral rewards, mUSD incentives, exclusive partner rewards, and access to tokens.

Additionally, MetaMask also talked about its long-time users, saying, “Long-time MetaMask users will not be ignored, they’ll be given special benefits.” The company also connected the new initiative to future plans, stating that MetaMask Rewards will have “meaningful connections with the future MetaMask token,” adding to the existing speculation around a native token launch for the wallet.

The focus on the LINEA token for the massive $30 million Season 1 distribution shows collaboration between MetaMask and Linea, the Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution developed by ConsenSys, the parent company of MetaMask.

The full program details are expected to be shared in the coming weeks.

Puma Unveils Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds-Inspired Sneakers And Apparel

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds brought Sega’s iconic characters to the racetrack last month, and now, the company is teaming up with Puma for a limited-edition set of sneakers and apparel inspired by the game.

Sega and Puma have officially unveiled the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds collection, which includes themed trainers for Sonic, Tails, and Shadow, all in their signature colors. Puma describes them as a blend of “motorsport styling with graphic cues inspired by racing and design elements from Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.”

Beyond the sneakers, the collection features a jacket, T-shirts, a hoodie, and more.

As part of the collaboration, Puma’s designs will be introduced in Sonic Racing: Crossworlds as free in-game decals that can be added to the vehicles. Puma will release the sneakers and apparel on the company’s official site, stores, and other outlets on October 30.

This isn’t Puma’s first leap into gaming-inspired apparel. The company previously released Animal Crossing sneakers and designed in-game clothing for the hit soccer game Rematch. Earlier this year, Nike dropped sneakers inspired by GoldenEye 007, which sold out almost immediately.

While there aren’t any new Sonic games on the immediate horizon, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is getting DLC in early 2026 that will add the blue hedgehog’s longtime adversary, Dr. Eggman, as a boss fight. Two other boss battles will also be added to the game, but Sega hasn’t revealed the identity of those foes yet.

DeFi ecosystem 1inch has rolled out a fresh visual identity and a new 1inch.com domain, as it pursues a strategic direction focused on user experience and enhanced security for institutions.

Executives say the revamped image reflects the company’s extensive influence in decentralized finance, with its infrastructure now relied on by the likes of Binance, MetaMask and Ledger.

“Soon, DeFi will be indistinguishable from traditional finance,” co-founder Sergej Kunz said in a statement shared with Decrypt. He noted that “this doesn’t mean centralization, it means traditional financial systems and users coming on-chain,” adding that, “1inch’s rebrand signals maturity, but not a change in the mission.”

All for 1, 1 for all

1inch says its new slogan (We move forward as 1″) spotlights the importance of collaboration between projects and protocols across the DeFi landscape—addressing the fragmentation that negatively impacts everyday users and prevents the sector from achieving its full potential.

As part of its collaborative efforts, 1inch has teamed up with crypto exchange Coinbase, which has integrated 1inch’s Swap API into its app. The high-profile collaboration comes as the exchange offers decentralized trades to users, giving them the opportunity to begin trading millions of digital assets.

Coinbase’s head of trading Scott Shapiro described the collaboration as a “significant step forward,” adding: “Together we’re enabling seamless access to DEXes within the Coinbase app, which will bring millions of our users on-chain.”

Improvements have also been made to 1inch’s flagship products, which include the 1inch decentralized exchange aggregator dapp, as well as its wallet, a dedicated business portal, and a portfolio tracker. The upgrades have been driven by a desire to simplify the experience for everyday investors and institutions without compromising on power and innovation, 1inch said.

The company is redoubling its effort to appeal to institutions by implementing two globally recognized standards for information security and data protection.

1inch says its SaaS-based model has experienced healthy demand of late, with well-known crypto companies using its technology to offer deep liquidity and swaps at competitive prices.

Heralding the rebrand as the next chapter in its six-year journey, 1inch likened its infrastructure to the “connective tissue” that enables chains, protocols and tools to be diverse yet interoperable at the same time. Other priorities include championing self-custody while enabling digital assets to be used in more environments.

According to 1inch, its ecosystem now boasts 25 million users and daily trading volumes exceeding $500 million. Visitors to its old website, 1inch.io, are now being directed to 1inch.com.

The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has formalized a new leadership structure for its privacy program, elevating privacy from a set of parallel initiatives to a coordinated “Privacy @ EF” cluster that is explicitly organized around real-world use cases and deployability.

Ethereum Makes Privacy A Priority

In an October 1 post titled “Privacy Cluster Leadership Announcement,” EF said it is “organizing for scale and impact,” naming longtime ecosystem builder Igor Barinov as the coordinator of Privacy @ EF and Andy Guzman as the new coordinator of the PSE (Privacy & Scaling Explorations) team, succeeding Sam Richards. “Together, Igor and Andy will help ensure Ethereum’s privacy work is impactful, coherent, and accountable,” the Foundation wrote.

The announcement reframes EF’s privacy mission as three concrete pillars—“Private Reads,” “Private Writes,” and “Private Proving”—that directly map to user and institutional needs. Private Reads targets surveillance-resistant querying, authentication, and browsing; Private Writes focuses on shielding actions such as payments, governance, and transfers; and Private Proving aims to make proofs “efficient, portable, and usable across contexts like identities, data portability, and client-side proving.”

EF links these pillars to practical compliance and safety requirements, arguing they are “necessary for institutions to comply with data protection standards,” help individuals avoid metadata leaks, and “shield our private financial information.”The Foundation is explicit that privacy will no longer be treated as an abstract research track divorced from shipping software.

“For Ethereum to become a foundation for civilizational infrastructure, privacy cannot be abstract research alone. It must be organized, resourced, and deployed at scale,” the post states—an unusually direct articulation of the program’s end goal and a signal that the cluster will be judged on delivery as much as on research output.

The post closes with a blunt credo—“Privacy is normal, and Ethereum is for privacy”—and an open invitation for builders to connect with Barinov and Guzman and to explore a catalog of “700+ projects” in the on-chain privacy space.

Barinov, best known for founding Blockscout, Gnosis Chain, and zkBob, brings a mix of infrastructure, open-source stewardship, and applied privacy product experience. Guzman, who has been with PSE/EF since 2022, moves from strategy and product leadership into the top operational role for PSE, which EF describes as spanning applied cryptography, research, and engineering.

Substantively, the cluster model is designed to integrate ongoing work on privacy-preserving computation with Ethereum’s public verifiability guarantees. While the post does not enumerate specific deliverables or dates, its emphasis on “portable” and “usable” proving, institutional compliance, and metadata-minimizing reads implies a roadmap that extends beyond shielded transfers toward end-to-end private user journeys—identity, access, payments, and governance—compatible with L1/L2 designs and client-side proving patterns that have been maturing across the ecosystem.

SEC’s Hester Peirce Apologizes For Agency’s Past Moves, Unveils Personal NFT Plans

SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce has shared potential plans for her future after leaving the Commission. In doing so, the popular crypto advocate joked about launching an NFT collection of real characters, including herself, and other characters in the crypto ecosystem.

Hester Peirce’s NFT Dream 

In a speech at the Coin Center, Peirce decided to respond to curious enquiries on her next plan after leaving the SEC.  Notably, the “CryptoMom” and present head of the Commission’s Crypto Task Force has since completed her tenure as an SEC Commissioner and only remains in service pending the appointment of her replacement.

Speaking to her plans post-SEC, Hester Peirce referenced her long-standing passion for beekeeping, which may prove futile due to a lack of experience. She also nudged the idea of functioning as an exchange simply by “wearing a T-shirt,” which was an intended jab at the previous SEC’s practice under Gary Gensler, which attempted to “contort the law” by forcing crypto exchanges to register under the Securities Act with the Commission.

Finally, the SEC Commissioner speaks to a Plan C known as Plan NFT. She began by first noting the regulatory progress on this class of digital assets, saying:

Several years ago, the SEC managed to squelch NFTs with some strategic guidance in the form, of course, of an enforcement action: Digital cats, at least stoned ones, and other NFTs were securities. A more sober view of the securities laws now prevails. Chairman Atkins has recently acknowledged that most digital assets are not securities.

In Hester Peirce’s proposed “NFT collection”, the first token is designed after her and named “CryptoMom.” In total, the Crypto Task Force boss speaks about 18 NFT characters, all based on various personalities she has encountered during her time in exploring the cryptocurrency industry.

Peirce Apologizes To The Crypto Community 

In rounding off a rather light-hearted speech, Commissioner Hester Peirce gave a rather heartfelt apology for the rather harsh approach of the immediate SEC tenure to the digital asset space. 

The “CryptoMom” also urged present crypto founders, developers, and users to capitalize on the ongoing efforts of regulatory clarity to showcase the best prospects of this technology. 

Her statement read: 

I am sorry that over most of my tenure at the SEC I failed to convince my colleagues in government to give you a chance. I hope that you and others whom you have inspired will use this time—a time in which regulatory clarity has replaced ambiguity as government’s objective—to build good things that will enhance the safety, security, happiness, and prosperity of your family, friends, neighbors, and nation. Show the skeptics that technologies that enable us to engage permissionlessly and privately with our peers are worth preserving and celebrating.

Cloudflare (NET) Unveils NET Dollar for AI-Powered Internet Economy

U.S.-listed cloud company Cloudflare (NET) announced plans to intorduve a U.S. dollar stablecoin for what it calls the “agentic web,” where autonomous AI agents perform tasks like booking flights or ordering groceries.

The company said on Thursday that the token, dubbed NET Dollar, will enable instant and secure transactions for software agents, developers and creators. Cloudflare framed the initiative as a shift away from the ad-driven economics that have defined the internet for decades.

“The Internet’s next business model will be powered by pay-per-use, fractional payments, and microtransactions—tools that shift incentives toward original, creative content that actually adds value,” Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare, said in a statement.

“By using our global network, we are going to help modernize the financial rails needed to move money at the speed of the Internet, helping to create a more open and valuable Internet for everyone,” he added.

The firm said itis also contributing to standards such as the Agent Payments Protocol and x402, which aim to make sending and receiving payments online simpler.

With the move, Cloudflare aims to join a roster of fintechs and payments firms that ventured into the red-hot stablecoin trend that’s shaking up cross-border payments. These cryptocurrencies, with prices tied to fait money like the U.S. dollar, offer a cheaper, faster alternative to traditional payment rails using blockchains for settlement. For example, Stripe is building its own blockchain, Tempo, for stablecoin transactions and acquired stablecoin infrastructure provider Bridge for $1.1 billion.

It’s potentially a huge market: stablecoin transaction volumes could reach $1 trillion by 2030, driven by institutional adoption, FX settlement and cross-border flows, trading firm Keyrock projected in a report.

Peaq Unveils Tokenized Robo-Farm in Hong Kong

Peaq, a blockchain network focused on the so-called Machine Economy, announced Tuesday the launch of what it calls the world’s first tokenized robo-farm.

The project is being developed in partnership with DualMint, a platform for tokenizing everyday businesses, and KanayaAI, a Hong Kong-based urban agritech company.

At Korea Blockchain Week 2025, peaq co-founder Leonard Dorlöchter said the project is designed to run autonomously and enhance food infrastructure.

“It’s a vertical farm which is autonomously farming and producing crops and has a yield of approximately 20%,” he said. “Can you imagine just with a farming machine you can generate a yield of 20% while contributing to critical food infrastructure?”

Vertical farming—the practice of growing crops indoors in stacked layers, often in warehouses, shipping containers, or purpose-built towers—relies on artificial lighting, climate control, and hydroponics to produce food in dense urban areas where land is scarce.

Advocates say it can deliver consistent yields close to consumers while requiring less land and water than conventional agriculture. With growing interest in the vertical farming space, the market is expected to reach $124 billion by 2035.

The Hong Kong facility is designed for about 12 crop cycles a year, compared to three or four in traditional farming. According to Peaq, the system will use one-tenth the water, no pesticides, and ten times less land than comparable farms. Fresh vegetables, including lettuce, kale, and spinach, will be delivered directly to residents on a subscription basis.

Where tokens come in

Tokenization, the process of turning ownership rights in a real-world asset into digital tokens on a blockchain, will underpin the project’s financial model.

In this case, the farm’s revenues will be represented as non-fungible tokens on the Peaq blockchain, giving holders a share of the cash flow. DualMint is managing the tokenization, with an early access waiting list already open for the sale.

Peaq operates as a Layer-1 blockchain built for connected devices and robots. DualMint specializes in bringing revenue-generating businesses, such as laundromats and vending machines, on-chain.

KanayaAI, meanwhile, develops automated vertical farms for urban environments. Together, the three companies frame the Hong Kong project as a way to merge blockchain, automation, and sustainable food production.

The effort builds on broader trends in agricultural robotics.

Companies have already deployed AI-driven robots that remove weeds, move plants in nurseries, and harvest crops in controlled environments. In Arizona, modular robotic vertical farming systems, like Opollo Farm, are already shipping leafy greens directly to markets.

Still, some challenges persist. Those include high capital and operating costs, particularly for energy-intensive lighting and climate control, which can limit scalability.

Running AI-driven robotic systems also requires capital, technical expertise, and access to power, creating barriers for smaller operators. Analysts warn that such systems could concentrate food production among well-funded entities.

By linking farm revenues directly to consumer demand through tokenized cash flow, Peaq aims to show how tokenized automation can provide both sustainable food and a yield-producing asset grounded in everyday demand.

“We’ve entered the most disruptive time humanity has seen,” Dorlöchter said. “The machine economy is here.”

The robo-farm is expected to go live in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Plasma Unveils First Stablecoin-Native Neobank, Targeting Emerging Markets

Plasma has launched Plasma One, the first neobank built entirely around stablecoins, aiming to make saving, spending, and earning in digital dollars seamless, the company said in a press release Monday.

The platform is designed to fix what the company calls a broken user experience for stablecoin holders, who often face clunky interfaces, limited local options, and friction when converting to cash.

Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies whose value is tied to another asset, such as the U.S. dollar or gold. They play a major role in cryptocurrency markets, providing a payment infrastructure, and are also used to transfer money internationally.

Plasma One offers card payments with rewards, zero-fee USDT transfers, and fast onboarding, all built on Plasma’s own blockchain and payments stack.

The company is focusing on emerging markets where dollar access is most critical, using local teams and peer-to-peer cash networks to drive adoption.

The rollout comes ahead of Plasma’s mainnet beta launch on Sept. 25, with access set to expand in stages.
