Unlocking Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World is so obtuse, even Nintendo got the details wrong

by admin June 17, 2025

Nintendo emailed a correction round to Switch 2 users yesterday after providing the wrong details on how to unlock Mario Kart World’s Mirror Mode.

The email, a thank you to players of the Switch 2 launch game, included tips on how to play, as well as instructions for more experienced players to unlock the iconic mode.

In a follow-up email, Nintendo then apologised for providing incorrect instructions. Yes, the method to unlock Mirror Mode is so obtuse even Nintendo itself got it wrong.

Mario Kart World Review – Is It The Perfect Launch Title?Watch on YouTube

“Nintendo’s newsletter, sent to you on 12/06/2025, contained an error regarding the criteria required to unlock Mirror mode in Mario Kart World,” the email read. “The information shared was incomplete, and additional steps are required before the mode can be accessed.”

Mirror Mode is a staple of the Mario Kart series and is usually unlocked as endgame content after completing the grand prix cups. In Mario Kart World, however, it’s tied to the game’s Free Roam mode.

Spoiler warning: details on how to unlock Mirror Mode.

As per Nintendo’s email, Mirror Mode can be unlocked in the following way:

“Discover a new way to race! In Free Roam, you’ll need ten ? Panels, Peach Medallions and successful P Switch missions, plus every 150cc Cup and Rally completed to unlock this.”

If you need further information, we’ve got a handy guide on how to unlock Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World for you.

Mario Kart World is the flagship launch title for Nintendo’s Switch 2, though it’s soon to be joined by Donkey Kong Bananza.

“Mario Kart World offers neat twists on the classic Mario Kart formula, but its open-world ambitions are somewhat let down by some classic Nintendo quirkiness,” reads our Mario Kart World review.

While it’s unknown how many copies the racing game has sold so far, the Switch 2 itself is Nintendo’s fastest-selling hardware ever with 3.5m units sold worldwide in its first four days on sale.

More players. More choices. Unlocking HDMI gaming features

by admin May 22, 2025

Gamers have more freedom and choices than ever to play in every room in their house, in other locations or even on the move, without breaking the bank. All major manufacturers of HDTVs include key HDMI® gaming features that make playing feel more immersive and responsive, reduce lag and maximize the overall experience.

Add in the choice of using 4K or even upscaled 8K, and you don’t have to play in an esports arena to get the full effects the game designers intend. The high adoption rate of HDTVs with the gaming features also means there are more choices for gamers than just relying on specialized gaming monitors; although both types of displays have multiple features and benefits that gamers should check, especially with the growing category of smart HDMI-enabled monitors.

Three HDMI gaming features make all of the difference. They include:

You may like

  • Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), which reduces or eliminates lag, judder, and frame tearing for more fluid and better detailed gameplay. VRR enables a gaming source, such as a console or computer, to deliver frames as fast as it can, which in many cases is slower than the normal static refresh rate.
  • Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), which enables the ideal latency setting to be set automatically allowing for smooth, lag-free and uninterrupted viewing and interactivity. In many cases this is referred to as game mode, and it usually has to be set manually, which involves going through menus and settings and then switching back again for normal viewing.
  • Quick Frame Transport (QFT), which reduces latency for smoother no-lag gaming and virtual reality. QFT transports each frame at a higher rate to decrease “display latency,” which is the amount of time between a frame being ready for transport in the GPU and that frame being completely displayed.

Right now, many top manufacturers offer the benefits of these HDMI gaming features and at higher refresh rates such as 144 Hz and 165 Hz for smoother, more responsive gameplay.

Gaming monitors from many of these same companies and others are available with these HDMI gaming features with refresh rates up to 240 Hz, 280 Hz and even 480 Hz—but consider some may sacrifice resolution or luminance, so make sure to check the specs.

There’s other good news for gamers as well. Many portable game consoles can output to an HDTV, and most of them are equipped with HDMI technology, making these portables easy to connect. It has recently been announced by Nintendo that the new Switch 2 will be bundled with an Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable for HDTV connection. These portables include:

  • Mobile phones via a USB C to HDMI adapter and HDMI Cable.
  • Steam Deck via the Steam Deck Docking Station and an HDMI Cable.
  • Nintendo Switch via an HDMI Cable to a TV from the dock’s HDMI Out. Be sure to power the setup using a USB Type C plug to connect the Switch AC adapter to the dock’s AC Adapter terminal.
  • ASUS ROG Ally using an ASUS ROG Gaming Charger Dock connected to the TV via an HDMI Cable.
  • Lenovo Legion Go via the HDMI port on the USB-C dock.
  • Retroid Pocket 4 Pro via a micro HDMI to HDMI Type A Cable.

Of course, always be sure to connect to a TV with the correct HDMI® Cable to ensure support for the maximum bandwidth and feature set your gaming setup is capable of delivering.

Usual’s stablecoin USD0 goes live on Fluid, unlocking dual yields for LPs

by admin May 20, 2025

Usual stablecoin issuer just launched its USD0/USDC liquidity pool on Fluid DeFi protocol, allowing liquidity providers to earn dual yields from both lending and trading APRs.

On May 19, an RWA-backed stablecoin protocol Usual announced the launch of its USD0/USDC liquidity pool on the DeFi protocol Fluid. The integration allows liquidity providers to earn lending APR, trading APR, and USUAL rewards on top.

The launch is powered by Fluid’s advanced architecture, which optimizes liquidity ranges and enables deeper, more efficient markets for stablecoin trading. This results in tighter spreads and better execution for users interacting with the USD0/USDC pair.

However, the real edge of USD0 being on Fluid is its relending mechanism, which allows deposited liquidity to simultaneously earn returns from both trading activity and lending protocols — enabling LPs to enjoy dual yield from a single position.

USD0 is a permissionless stablecoin backed by real-world assets — primarily ultra-short maturity U.S. Treasury Bills. It was launched by Usual Protocol to offer greater safety than USD Coin (USDC) and Tether (USDT) by avoiding reliance on traditional banks and their fractional reserve practices. It provides full transparency of its collateral, enabling anyone to verify its backing in real time.

Usual Protocol is headed by CEO Pierre Person, a former French politician and National Assembly member who played a key role in shaping the country’s crypto asset legislation.

“Existing stablecoin models lack transparency and equitable value distribution, privatizing their gains and socializing their losses, and going against the ethos that web3 was built on,” explained Person. “Usual is proud to be addressing this void by providing a permissionless, real-asset backed stablecoin that shares our profits directly with the community, and empowers our token holders to guide us to the future that they see fit.”

Usual launched USD0 stablecoin alongside its liquid bond product USD0++ in July last year. USD0++ is a liquid staking token that allows users to lock USD0 for up to four years, earning rewards in USUAL tokens. This token is tradable in secondary markets, offering liquidity alongside staking benefits.

In December 2024, Usual’s TVL surpassed $1.4 billion, ranking it among the top five stablecoins. Currently, USD0’s TVL stands as $646 million and it ranks as the 10th top stablecoin by marketcap on CoinMarketCap.
