Ghost Of Tsushima’s Underrated Multiplayer Mode Comes Back For Yotei

by admin August 20, 2025

Ghost of Yōtei Legends will bring multiplayer to Sony’s fall blockbuster, though not until next year. The cooperative online mode will arrive as free DLC sometime in 2026.

For anyone unfamiliar with the mode from the original game, Legends was a multiplayer spin-off for Ghost of Tsushima that had players team up online to take down mythical challenges in a new series of story missions, fight off waves of enemies in a horde-like survival mode, or compete with other players to see who could rack up the highest score. There were character classes, difficulty ranks, and unlockable cosmetics. It was one of those multiplayer add-ons to a single-player adventure that was way better than it had any right to be.

A PlayStation Blog post suggests things will work pretty much the same in Ghost of Yotei Legends, though this time the story missions will revolve around teaming up to take down members of the Yōtei Six, the main antagonists of the single-player campaign. They’ll be accompanied by new enemies, however, and presumably have other, more challenging tricks up their sleeves. The return of the survival mode is also confirmed, though it’s currently unclear if that will include the 2v2 contest option as well. It sounds like Sucker Punch will reveal more details once Ghost of Yotei is out on October 2.

The original Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer mode was one of Sony’s more successful first-party forays into live-service content. Its popularity among fans made it seem like a slam dunk impressive enough to justify a full-blown standalone spin-off game. But despite the literal billions Sony has poured into trying to get a fleet of live-service games off the ground, Legends hasn’t been among the projects released or canceled, at least that we know of. If anything, the success of Elden Ring Nightreign proves there’s definitely players out there who want innovative co-op riffs on traditional single-player games. We’ll see if Ghost of Yotei Legends can satisfy some of that pent-up demand when it arrives next year.

A criminally underrated action game with a soundtrack I’m still listening to 9 years later is on sale for just 2 bucks on Steam, and I already bought it again

by admin June 22, 2025

Ahead of Steam’s Summer Sale next week, The Game Bakers’ excellent 2016 bullet hell dueling game Furi is having a little sale of its own. The normally $20 game can be had for just $2, and I’m taking the opportunity to buy the dang thing again myself.

Former PC Gamer editor James Davenport gave Furi an 86% in his review at the game’s launch all the way back in 2016 (Christ alive), calling it one of the year’s “biggest surprises.” “Furi’s combat is shallow, and I mean that as a compliment,” James wrote. “All you can do is observe, react, and punish. It’s advanced Bop-It, a lighting quick series of rock-paper-scissors, the Grand Finals in fly-swatting—Furi exercises the hell out of a very small set of abilities until they feel like they were always there.”

Instead of the usual flow of levels between boss fights, Furi is one long gauntlet of nine unique duels, with just short, meditative walking sequences in-between. You play as a bad ass cyborg ninja dude with a sword and a gun (the vibe is very Hyper Light), and the fights begin with top-down bullet hell shooting before transitioning into a Sekiro-style close-in melee of deflecting and dodging—two years before Sekiro even released.

Furi rules so hard, and it’s both shocking and a little bit impressive that the devs at The Game Bakers don’t seem interested in revisiting the concept, instead shifting genres with every new game.

In 2020 the studio released the romantic RPG Haven (read our review here), while PC Gaming Show editorial director Jake Tucker thinks the upcoming Cairn is the best climbing game he’s ever played. The Game Bakers made one of the best action games of the 2010s, then ambled off to do something else. Respect.

I’d be remiss if I failed to mention the soundtrack: This is Music You Can Lift Weights To, and I do. Often. Furi’s OST shares a lot of artists with the iconic Hotline Miami soundtracks, another gaming gym banger favorite, and Waveshaper’s track “Wisdom of Rage” has been a Spotify most-played for me every year since Furi came out. It all contributes to this laconic, classically cool vibe that reminds me of shows like Afro Samurai or Samurai Champloo.

But it’s been a minute since I played. Furi was an early arrival on the Switch eShop, and that’s how I first experienced it. At $2 though, it’s about time I gave it the place of honor it deserves in my Steam Library. Furi will remain 90% off until this Thursday, June 26.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

3 underrated Netflix movies you should watch this weekend (May 23-25)

by admin May 23, 2025

Netflix is stacked with interesting movies, but they’re often not the easiest to find. Netflix’s algorithm might claim to understand your tastes, but does it? At times, it can feel like the streaming service hides the best stuff from you.

That’s where we come in. We’ve pulled together a list of three great Netflix movies that are well worth watching this weekend. Whether you’re looking for something scary or profound, this list should have you covered.

Need more recommendations? We also have guides to the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+.

The Outrun (2024)

Saoirse Ronan is one of the greatest actresses of her generation, and The Outrun is all the proof you need. The movie follows a young girl who flames out of life in London and then returns home to her small Scottish town to deal with her alcohol addiction. As she comes to terms with her sober life and her family, she also forges a new connection to the natural beauty around her.

Ronan elevates what could be a fairly standard addiction drama into something far more fascinating than that, in part because she seems to understand all the ways her character is both fascinating and frustrating.

You can watch The Outrun on Netflix.

Lion (2016)

A fascinating, heartbreaking true story, Lion follows a young boy who gets lost thousands of miles from home in India after staying on a train too long. As he struggles to survive on the streets of Kolkata, he’s eventually adopted by a couple from Australia.

Then, 25 years later, he (Dev Patel) uses Google Earth to find his way back to the town he’s from and reunite with the family he left behind. Lion is uplifting and heartbreaking in equal measure. Most crucially, it’s a story in which everyone tries their best to help those around them, even as they find themselves approaching the limits of what they can do.

You can watch Lion on Netflix.

Talk to Me (2022)

A smart, genuinely original horror film, Talk to Me follows a group of teenagers who discover a hand that allows them to commune with the dead. What starts as a party game eventually becomes something much more genuinely horrific, as they realize just what kind of power they’ve been dealing with.

Anchored by a mostly unknown young cast filled with excellent actors and some fascinating visuals, Talk to Me feels like the rare horror movie that isn’t just trying to ape something that came before it. It was a major phenomenon among horror fans, and with good reason.

You can watch Talk to Me on Netflix.

3 underrated Amazon Prime Video movies you should watch this weekend (May 23-25)

by admin May 22, 2025

If you’ve ever scrolled through Amazon Prime Video for even a few minutes, you’re likely aware of just how deep their library is. That depth can be exciting, but it can also be anxiety-inducing, especially if all you really want to do is find a great movie to watch.

Thankfully, we’ve pulled together a list of three great movies available on Prime Video that are all worth your time. These movies have different vibes and represent different genres, but each of them is a reminder of just how many good movies are available on the streaming service.

We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+.

The Hurricane (1999)

Denzel Washington is one of the best actors of all time for a reason. The Hurricane remains one of his greatest and most unseen performances.

The film stars Washington as Rubin “Hurricane” Carter, a boxer who dreamed of winning the middleweight title and was then wrongly arrested for murder and sentenced to three consecutive life sentences. The film’s depiction of the way Black men, in particular, are demonized and villainized whether they’re guilty or not remains relevant even to this day.

You can watch The Hurricane on Amazon Prime Video.

Born on the Fourth of July (1989)

Telling the true story of Ron Kovic, an all-American teenager who enlists in the Vietnam War and then eventually becomes one of its more radical opponents, Born on the Fourth of July is a thoroughly American movie. Kovic’s story about a patriotic boy who becomes more and more cynical about his country and the war is a brilliant examination of the way Vietnam destroyed the trust of an entire generation of Americans.

Anchored by one of the best performances of Tom Cruise‘s career, Born on the Fourth of July is honest about the realities of war and also features some stunning, horrific footage depicting the conflict itself.

You can watch Born on the Fourth of July on Amazon Prime Video.

Bernie (2011)

Loosely based on a true story, Bernie follows a beloved assistant funeral director in a small Texas town. When he befriends a prickly widow that nobody else likes, he eventually becomes totally ensconced in her world and her needs.

After she’s found dead and Bernie is charged with her murder, the residents of the town spring to his defense, and we come to appreciate how he wound up in this position. Anchored by one of Jack Black‘s best performances, Bernie is darkly funny from start to finish.

You can watch Bernie on Amazon Prime Video.
