A Digital Underground Is Using the Flipper Zero to Break Into Cars

by admin August 21, 2025

Its creators call it a “multi-tool” device. For many users, it’s a hacking accessory. Since it first debuted in 2020, the Flipper Zero has been considered a fun, low-key pen-tester, but a new report bolsters claims made by the tool’s critics, many of whom have argued that it makes nefarious hacking just a little too easy.

404 Media reports that claims the Flipper has become a favorite in a digital underground where low-level hackers create and sell their own software to modify the tool’s abilities. 404 spoke with a hacker who goes by the moniker “Daniel,” who has been responsible for peddling patches that can turn the Flipper into a car-unlocking device. This customized software is bought and sold with cryptocurrency, the outlet notes. It has two tiers: one worth $600, in which the buyer gets the latest version of the software, and the other costs $1,000 (wherein the buyer gains access to “future upgrades and support”). The hacker told 404 Media that he had sold his wares to approximately 150 people. “Maybe someone is using it to steal from cars or steal cars,” Daniel told them.

Using the simple software workarounds, would-be car thieves seem to have quite a lot of options. Indeed, Daniel’s software patches are alleged to work on a broad variety of car brands. 404 writes:

Daniel shared a PDF which lays out the vehicles the patches allegedly work against. It names nearly 200 specific models of vehicles, including many 2025 versions. As well as Subaru, Fiat, Ford, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Peugeot, Citroën, Volkswagen, Skoda, and Audi, the document also says Honda is in development.

Daniel, who markets his software on YouTube, also told 404 that he had instituted guardrails to keep users from “cracking” his software and thus using it without paying him. However, 404 reports that software like the kind Daniel sells is being cracked, which allows for its broader (and free) distribution.

Flipper doesn’t seem to feel that any of this is its problem. In a statement shared with 404, the company claimed that it was “not aware of any officially confirmed cases of theft using a Flipper Zero.” It added: “We have seen reports from researchers who have used Flipper Zero with third-party software and hardware to exploit brazen vulnerabilities in certain cars. We hope car manufacturers will take the security of their products more seriously and patch them up immediately, as carjackers have access to extremely sophisticated black market tools.” Gizmodo reached out to Flipper Devices for more information.

Authorities have long accused the Flipper of aiding and abetting car thieves. In February of last year, the Canadian government moved to ban the tool, along with other “devices used to steal vehicles by copying the wireless signals for remote keyless entry.” At the time, Flipper’s developers said that they were being unfairly scapegoated as the hacker boogeymen behind the nation’s car theft problem. The COO of Flipper Devices, Alex Kulagin, argued that there were many other devices sold online that were specifically marketed as car entry devices. Developers have also argued that the Flipper helps expose shoddy corporate security practices. Canada subsequently walked back the ban.

The Villain From Tony Hawk’s Underground Is In THPS 3+4

by admin June 12, 2025

Players will be able to find a classic skater villain in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 when it launches in July on consoles and PC. And they’ll once again be able to defeat the asshole who first appeared back in Tony Hawk’s Undeground.

THPS 3+4 Does Away With The OG 4’s Career Mode, Here’s Why

In a recent video from Jeff Gertsmann, as spotted by VGC, he was able to play and stream an early build of THPS 3+4 and also showcase some b-roll footage of the game from Activision. THPS 3+4 is a full remake of the PS2-era games Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4, complete with new levels, improved visuals, and more. And it was in this video that Gertsmann revealed that Eric Sparrow from Tony Hawk’s Underground makes an appearance in Waterpark, which is one of the remake’s new levels.

Sparrow, sporting a new look, can be found in the waterpark-themed level and is part of an objective titled “Get Back at Eric Sparrow.” When touched, he will push the player and yell at them in a voice that sounds a lot like how he sounded in the OG PS2 game. Sadly, the build Gerstmann was playing didn’t let him actually complete the mission, so we aren’t sure yet how the player will “get back” at the THUG villain. It might involve grinding a piece of the map to knock over a large bucket filled with water above Sparrow.

If you’ve never played THUG, then it’s just a random and odd challenge in a level filled with other things to do. If you have played THUG, you’ll remember Sparrow is a real asshole who screwed you over and betrayed you in that game’s campaign.

So, is this a tease that Activision and Iron Galaxy have plans to develop a full remake of Tony Hawk’s Underground? Many fans of the series want that to happen. Even Tony Hawk himself has said he’d love a remake of THUG.

“I always have aspirations,” Hawk told ScreenRant in May. “It’s not up to me generally. I’ll campaign all I can, but I’m working with a much bigger company that’s a lot smarter than me.”

It’s also possible that while developing a brand new level in THPS 3+4, Iron Galaxy decided to pay tribute to a fan favorite game in the series with a cheeky little cameo. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.

PowerWash Simulator’s final update will let you live out your fantasy of giving a London underground train a good scrub

by admin May 30, 2025

Anyone that’s ever been on the London underground, no matter their background, can all likely agree on one thing: that place is nasty. I mean, it’s all underground, where’s the dirt meant to go? And it’s not like anyone’s putting any money into getting the place cleaned. But, if you’ve ever fantasized about hosing down a Northern Line train for yourself, one, that’s possibly slightly odd, and two, you’ll be able to do almost just that in PowerWash Simulator’s next and last update.

Developer FuturLab shared an update earlier today saying that “the time has come to reach our final destination for PowerWash Simulator.” Four years on since the game launch into early access in 2021, the cleaning sim will be getting an update titled The Muckingham Files 6 where you’ll be able to clean up a legally safe version of a London underground train, as well as a nice looking park with a big gnome statue, amongst others.

The update is already available too, and it’s completely free, so you’ll just need to update your game when you’re feeling the need to clean.

If you’re wondering, “wait, last update? Why?”, I would like to say that it’s okay when things end sometimes, but also, PowerWash Simulator 2 was announced a couple of months ago, so that’ll be why the first one is winding down. The sequel is set to arrive sometime in 2025, as long as all goes to plan, and it’ll even have splitscreen co-op. FuturLab are also self-publishing this one, so unfortunately you probably won’t be able to give Cloud’s sword a good polish this time around.

PowerWash Simulator goes underground, overground in final free content update

by admin May 29, 2025

The end is nigh for developer FuturLab’s endlessly hypnotic original PowerWash Simulator, but before the studio packs away its nozzles in anticipation of an upcoming sequel, there’s one last free update featuring a couple more spaces in which to unleash your hose.

“The time has come to reach our final destination for PowerWash Simulator,” FuturLab wrote in an update on its website, “and what a journey it has been!… Whether you’ve been with us busting the grime from early access, or hopped aboard the PowerWash hype train somewhere down the line, we’d love to say a huge thank you for enjoying this adventure with us.”

And as a final farewell to the original game, FuturLab has released Muckingham Files 6, which features two more locations in desperate need of a clean. The first will be immediately familiar to old hands, taking players down into the Muckingham subway station for one last spray. However, rather than demanding a repeat of the harrowing tunnel clean-up job featured in the base game, this time you’ll be aiming your nozzle at an extremely grubby train that’s pulled into the station, washing away the grime from its outers and innards.

After that, there’s one last stop in the form of Sculpture Park, where players will be working at the behest of Darcy d’Arcy to restore the area’s collection of “fine” art – including a large Monolith and The Man of A Thousand Faces – to its former glory. And, of course, there’s a giant gnome, because what sort of send off would it be without one?

“We hope you enjoy this final PowerWash Simulator update as much as we have enjoyed creating it,” FuturLab concluded in its update. “The team have poured their hearts and souls into creating a world for you all to escape to and clean, somewhere for you to relax and solo clean, or a place to gather with friends and catch up over a satisfying wash.”

PowerWash Simulator’s free Muckingham Files 6 update – which follows April’s inclusion of Muckingham’s Dessert Parlour for a cleaning – is available now on all platforms, and FutureLab has taken the opportunity to squeeze in a couple more bug fixes, as detailed in its patch notes.

Next up, of course, is PowerWash Simulator 2, which is currently expected to launch for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and possibly Switch 2 later this year. It promises new jobs, new dirt to blast, and a new hub-like HQ. And if you’re a fan of PowerWash Simulator’s ridiculous narrative, don’t fret – FuturLab has also confirmed plenty more Muckingham lore.
