Ninja defends Kai Cenat as Twitch star’s Fortnite skin sparks criticism

by admin August 21, 2025

Ninja is coming to the defense of Twitch star Kai Cenat after Fortnite added his skin to the game ahead of prominent creators more associated with the battle royale.

On August 19, Kai Cenat unveiled his new Fortnite skin, part of the Icon Series lineup, on the Las Vegas Sphere.

While Kai is one of the biggest names in the streaming world, some fans have taken issue with the AMP star getting a skin instead of Fortnite players or other streamers such as IShowSpeed.

Surprisingly, Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, someone who has had beef with Cenat in the past, stepped up to support Kai, explaining why it’s not as big of a deal some are making it out to be.

Ninja responds to Kai Cenat Fortnite skin backlash

During a broadcast, viewers inquired why Kai was getting a skin and Ninja had a simple reply.

“There are creators who have Icon skins and then there’s just Icons,” Belevins explained. “It’s safe to say he’s up there in the streaming scene.”

Going through the roster of skins, Ninja said that a Speed skin would be “great” too, but added that Epic doesn’t just pump out cosmetics.

“These things are spaced out, so we can still see a Speed one in the future and there are loads of people who don’t play this game every day.”

Of note, Ninja pointed to the Eminem, Billie Eilish and Harry Kane skins as famous people not exactly associated with Fortnite, and there was more room for streamers to get skins.

Ninja emphasised that Kai is an Icon and the fact that he’s not getting a Creator Skin means he’s not taking a skin away from someone.

Furthermore, he was convinced that Kai would be playing Fortnite a lot during his upcoming Mafiathon 3 after setting a Twitch subscriber record last year with 728,535.

The Kai Cenat collab is set to arrive on September 12, 2025.

Smash pro Mang0 banned on Twitch after drunken antics at Ludwig Mario Kart event

by admin June 25, 2025

Super Smash Bros Melee pro Joseph ‘Mang0’ Marquez has been hit with a ban from Twitch after drunkenly harassing female streamers at Ludwig’s Mario Kart event.

The punishments keep coming for Mang0 after being dropped from C9, banned from one of the year’s biggest Melee tournaments in Super Nova, and barred from future Ludwig events.

On June 21, Mang0 harassed multiple streamers, including ExtraEmily, at Ludwig’s Switch 2 Mario Kart World Cup event. The event, Beerio Kart, required competitors to finish their drinks before the end of a race or be disqualified.

Despite a few days passing since the event, on June 25, Marquez was hit with a ban on the Amazon-owned platform.

Mang0 banned on Twitch after being dropped by Cloud 9 and huge Melee event

As of June 25, Mang0’s Twitch account has been made inaccessible.

“This channel is temporarily unavailable due to a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service,” the page reads.

It’s not clear how long the Smash God will be banned for or what community guidelines he violated. In addition to prohibiting sexual harassment, Twitch also states that they “do not make exceptions for self-destructive behavior performed as a stunt or gag made in jest, or meant to entertain.”

This isn’t the first time drinking has gotten Marquez banned on Twitch either. In 2021, he was briefly suspended after appearing to pass out drunk on stream.

His latest Twitch ban comes after C9, Marquez’s sponsor, dropped him following the controversy. Following this, Super Nova, formerly Super Smash Con, announced he wouldn’t be allowed to compete at the tournament. Mang0 is the reigning champion in both singles and doubles at the supermajor.

“The safety and respect of our attendees is of utmost importance to us. This decision was made in alignment with our event’s conduct expectations, as well as the standards of our partners,” they said.

Meanwhile, Mang0 has promised to deal with his drinking problem and claims he’s begun looking into rehab options.

“After reflecting on the worst moments of my life, I see a pattern: alcohol has always been involved. I understand that my words mean nothing right now, and alcohol excuses 0 percent of my actions, but I promise I’m gonna beat this and show you that I can be a greater man without the influence of alcohol,” he commented on X.

“My next step is to focus on real recovery. I’ve already started researching rehab and will be checking into one when I find the right fit.”

Mang0 also says he supports any further bans that come his way, adding that he’s “always wanted what is best for Melee.”

TimTheTatman concerned Twitch is no longer a “gaming” site as IRL streams dominate

by admin June 25, 2025

Popular streamer TimTheTatMan has sparked a viral debate over the future of gaming broadcasts, saying Twitch’s Just Chatting category far outpaces people playing games.

Kai Cenat, IShowSpeed and Asmongold are some of the biggest streamers on the internet, branching out from their status as content creators to enter the mainstream media.

For instance, Kai Cenat regularly rubs shoulders with major celebrities like Drake, LeBron James, Kevin Hart and more, while IShowSpeed, who streams on YouTube, gets international recognition thanks to his viral tours abroad.

Article continues after ad

The majority of their streams aren’t spent in front of the computer playing games (minus Asmongold, who’s known for his political commentary streamed from home). Instead, they’re out hosting award shows and taking up physical challenges against high-profile athletes.

It’s influencers like these that have fellow broadcaster TimTheTatMan convinced that the future of live streaming isn’t in gaming — it’s in IRL.

Twitch: Kai CenatKai Cenat is one of the most popular streamers on the net, regularly hanging out with celebrities like Kevin Hart and even hosting award shows.

TimTheTatMan says gaming on Twitch is dead

Tim spoke about this growing trend during a broadcast in June 2025 after noticing that the majority of viewership on Twitch was in the site’s ‘Just Chatting’ category.

Article continues after ad

“There were 500,000 watching Just Chatting,” he said. “And the closest video game to that was League of Legends at 100K, and Counter-Strike at 85K. I think it’s just gaming in general right now, because all the views seem to be when you go into Just Chatting and talk about drama.

“You could argue that the biggest streamers out there don’t even game that much,” he continued. “This guy Kai Cenat just hung out with LeBron. You know what I’m saying? …IRL is king now. That’s the reality.”

— yoxic (@yoxics) June 25, 2025

Responses to Tim’s theory are largely mixed. Some viewers agree that Kai’s motion is largely due to his interactions with celebrities and broadcasts outside the home, while others say that gaming content is in a lull until a massive title like GTA 6 drops.

Article continues after ad

“IRL is the ultimate reality show,” one viewer said on X.

“Just not any game that’s poppin’ right now,” another argued. “Once someone drops something worth playing / watching, it’s back to normal. Nobody doing irl content when a game like GTA 6 comes out. Just not any great games right now.”

— DeaTHhly (@DeaTHhlyy) June 25, 2025

“We desperately need better multiplayer games,” another said.

While the Just Chatting category might reign supreme, a majority of Twitch’s most-subscribed streamers are gaming-focused… but content creators like TimTheTatMan aren’t convinced this will be the case for much longer.

And we can’t forget that Kai Cenat’s gaming marathons have been some of the most viral broadcasts on the net, something he’s returning to with IShowSpeed for a Mario Bros. stream.

Asmongold calls out Twitch for “anti-competitive” multistreaming rules

by admin June 19, 2025

Kick streamer Asmongold put Twitch on blast for its rules on multistreaming that he believes are biased towards the purple platform.

In June, Asmongold and Tectone made the leap over to Kick as part of a new commitment to multistreaming and immediately revealed how much more money they were making as a result.

With so much attention on multistreaming, many creators followed suit including FaZe, OTK and numerous other streamers, but that suddenly shed light on Twitch’s policies towards simulcasting.

Article continues after ad

Of note, a streamer by the name of ‘Nutty’ was banned for violating those rules, which prevent creators from showing other websites’ chats, providing links to off-platform streams or merging features.

On June 18, Asmongold reviewed those guidelines during a broadcast and was absolutely baffled at how restrictive they can be.

Asmongold accuses Twitch of trying to “monopolize” multistreaming

“Twitch, I’m not even kidding you, puts it as a rule that if you simulcast, you have to read Twitch chat,” he said. “Oh my God.”

He continued on, reading the guidelines, and grew flustered at Twitch’s wording, adding that they should just state they don’t want viewers going to competing websites.

Asmongold calls out Twitch for their archaic TOS surrounding simulcasting

Says they enforce these rules meticulously because they’re losing market share

“Twitch puts it as a rule that if you simulcast you have to read Twitch chat..Twitch wants to give themselves an edge..over… pic.twitter.com/rzxmZfolXL

— yeet (@Awk20000) June 19, 2025

“None of this makes sense…The reason this exists is because Twitch wants to give themselves an edge in multistreaming and they know because they have the biggest platform, they can afford to do that,” he explained.

“This is total anti-competitive behavior. There is no benefit for any streamer. There is no benefit for any user. This is purely something Twitch can do so they can monopolize their platform.”

Article continues after ad

Asmongold further labeled these policies “detrimental” to the user experience but believes that Twitch won’t be able to get away with this forever as competition in the streaming space from Kick and YouTube intensifies.

In fact, according to StreamsCharts, Kick viewership grew by 29% in May alone, something the site’s co-founder, Bijan Tehrani, used to put Twitch on blast.

Article continues after ad

“Twitch banning multistreamers proves only one thing: the party’s better elsewhere and they’re terrified you’ll find out,” he said.

— Bijan Tehrani (@BijanTehrani) June 19, 2025

Tehrani further echoed some of Asmongold’s points, adding: “Twitch is afraid of losing their monopoly. Instead of innovating or giving creators more they are going to do what they’ve always done which is engage in pathetic anti-competitive behavior.”

Only time will tell if Twitch decides to change its multistreaming rules, especially now that more and more creators are giving it a shot.

Even Valkyrae, in a request ahead of its time, urged Twitch to modify its guidelines back in April, as she risked a ban for showing YouTube chat while streaming on the Amazon-owned platform.

Twitch star RaKai under fire for staring at his phone & almost crashing car on stream

by admin June 15, 2025

RaKai is one of Twitch’s rising stars. The 16 year-old has quickly become one of the biggest creators on the platform. However, he’s been steeped in controversy after streaming himself almost crashing his car while staring at his phone.

Several clips have emerged from the livestream, displaying RaKai staring directly at his phone while driving down a rainy road. One of them shows him panicking and trying to get the wheel back in control after almost veering off the road.

Article continues after ad

Viewers are infuriated, with several posts being made requesting Twitch ban the streamer for reckless driving, citing that driving while distracted is a direct violation of the Twitch TOS.

Rakai remains unbanned after almost crashing on stream

Averaging at over 20k viewers a stream, 2xRaKai is one of the biggest streamers on Twitch. He came up partially by interacting with Kai Cenat, and his Streamer University even was a huge boost in viewership for the young streamer.

Article continues after ad

However, fans of RaKai have been pushing back on him after he willingly stared at his phone while driving.

Article continues after ad

The clip above is one example, with it going viral on Reddit with some negative reactions from viewers.

“Hope he doesn’t kill anyone. I’ve lost a friend to rain + distracted driver,” said one user.

“This clip is egregious. You literally just made a new rule about driving and streaming. Here’s your first big test,” said another.

A second clip shows him staring at his phone for 7 seconds straight, putting it directly in front of his face and blocking the road.

He suddenly slammed on the brakes before coming to a full stop to read his phone safely.

There is precedent for streamers getting banned for reckless driving, with ExtraEmily getting booted off the platform after she ran a red light on stream. She apologized for it and was allowed back on Twitch a short time later.

It remains to be seen whether or not Twitch decides to ban RaKai after this controversy.

Twitch Streamers Compete To Win Bitcoin

by admin June 7, 2025

The House of Streams, a Netflix series licensed for the UK and Ireland, will feature online streamers in competitions to take home one Bitcoin.

According to the show’s website, eight contestants with a combined four million followers will appear on the reality TV series, set to premiere on June 18. The series will reportedly have Twitch streamers compete in a series of challenges to win 1 Bitcoin (BTC), worth more than $104,000 at the time of publication.

It’s unclear why the Malta Film Commission, behind the production and filming of the show, chose to focus on a cryptocurrency prize for the contestants, but the creator of the series, Mark Holland, reportedly said “…the final reward couldn’t have been a simple cash prize or a trip to the Maldives.” The website issued a notice suggesting that some individuals had already used the show’s association with digital assets to issue a fraudulent memecoin.

“We support Bitcoin and no other memecoin,” the House of Streams said in a May 22 statement.

Netflix is no stranger to shows about crypto and blockchain, having been behind documentary series including Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King on the downfall of crypto exchange QuadrigaCX. The streaming service announced in May that it had greenlit production for The Altruists, on the lives of former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried and former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison.

Prominent crypto holders becoming targets?

The eight contestants in House of Streams, going by handles including The Black Hokage, CyborgAngel, and OutplayedByJade, did not appear to have publicly commented on the series as of June 6.

At least one streamer, not connected with the series, has reported being attacked for their crypto holdings. In March, Kaitlyn Siragusa, under the handle Amouranth, said a group of people had broken into her home and demanded crypto. She had posted a screenshot of her Coinbase account in 2024 showing she held roughly $20 million worth of BTC at the time.

Siragusa’s attack was just one of several incidents involving criminals targeting investors or individuals connected to exchanges in 2025. In France, a group of assailants allegedly attempted to kidnap and ransom the daughter and grandson of Paymium CEO Pierre Noizat.

Twitch streamer Emiru is throwing the first pitch at an MLB game in full Nikke cosplay

by admin June 5, 2025

When the San Diego Padres x Goddess of Victory: Nikke crossover was announced, fans of both the original game and the baseball team weren’t too sure what to expect from it.

Nikke is an incredibly popular gacha game from Stellar Blade developer ShiftUp, but, much like their other title, it also often depicts scantily clad robot women fighting bizarre and threatening creatures in an apocalypse. It’s not exactly the most family-friendly premise.

And, while there are still some concerns from fans of the game that there may be anime gals “throwing it back on the jumbotron” during this event, we now know that Nikke will have an even bigger role in this game than anyone thought.

Article continues after ad

Emiru, a Twitch streamer and cosplayer, will be dressed up like one of the game’s characters to throw the first pitch. She plans to livestream the entire thing.

Emiru is headlining Nikke’s San Diego Padres crossover

There have been a number of bizarre anime crossovers with sports in recent years, with the Dodgers notably collabing with Hololive and Cygames sponsoring the Kentucky Derby to promote a game about racing with horse girls.

Article continues after ad

However, Goddess of Victory: Nikke is in a class of its own. Outside of its core storyline and shooter gameplay, one of the game’s main draws is the character models and how the recoil from their powerful weapons affects them.

Article continues after ad

Regardless, the Padres have chosen to partner with them for an entire baseball game on June 10, with Nikke even releasing a full promotional trailer for their in-game event and Padres game day.

ShiftUp

The event will have exclusive Goddess of Victory: Nikke merch and what they describe as “immersive activities inspired by the game,” although it isn’t clear what that means just yet. People who buy the Theme Game ticket also get some exclusive merch.

Article continues after ad

And, to put it over the top, Twitch streamer Emiru is showing up dressed as Rapi, one of the game’s main characters, to throw the first pitch. She’s arguably the most important Nikke in the story and plays a role in pretty much every story beat, so it’s no surprise they chose her to represent the game.

It remains to be seen what other surprises are in store for the Nikke x Padres collab.

Twitch hit with class action lawsuit alleging TOS bans users for criticizing platform

by admin June 3, 2025

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Twitch, accusing the Amazon-owned platform of violating California law by prohibiting users from criticizing the site.

On June 1, a lawsuit was filed in California by a Twitch user by the name of Daniel Blitch, claiming the platform was violating the state’s Yelp Law.

The law prohibits businesses from including clauses in contracts that restrict individuals from making statements regarding the business, its staff and its services.

Article continues after ad

According to the lawsuit, through Twitch’s terms of service and terms of sale, the platform “unlawfully seeks to restrict users’ ability to freely share their experiences with Twitch’s platform and services, in violation of California Civil Code.”

Twitch accused of using TOS to silence criticism

Blitch, an individual from LA, has been subscribed to streamers since at least 2020, and claims that the platform prohibits or discourages users from making statements that could be harmful to its brand.

“Twitch’s Terms includes language to the effect that users may not post content Twitch deems harmful, disparaging, misleading, or offensive. Such provisions are enforced through moderation, account penalties, and removal of content,” the lawsuit alleges, further noting that the site can ban users for any reason,” the suit reads.

— yeet (@Awk20000) June 2, 2025

As an example, the lawsuit referenced how at one point, there were discussions about Twitch not paying streamers well enough, leading Blitch and other users to be careful about how they approached the topic, even using words like “onionized” instead “unionized.”

“Twitch’s enforcement of its Terms deters users from expressing their genuine views, thereby chilling consumer speech,” the suit added.

Additionally, Blitch claimed that in at least one instance, a Twitch user was reprimanded for their criticisms of the platform.

Article continues after ad

Because this is a class action lawsuit, other Twitch users in California who purchased subscriptions or goods may be eligible to join. Under the Yelp Law, civil penalties start at $2,500 per violation, but can increase to $10,000 for willful or reckless violations.

At the time of writing, Twitch hasn’t publicly responded to the lawsuit, but this isn’t the first time the site has found itself in legal trouble.

Article continues after ad

Earlier in 2025, an exclusive Dexerto report revealed the platform had continued to bill some users for subscriptions to streamers who had been permanently banned on the site. Users were subsequently refunded after an attorney had planned a class action lawsuit on behalf of those affected.

OpenAI is playing Pokemon Red live on Twitch

by admin May 31, 2025

OpenAI’s o3 model has been tasked with playing Pokemon Red and achieving the ultimate goal of defeating the Elite Four to become Kanto’s champion.

The experiment, being streamed on Twitch since May 27, has the AI provide its reasoning for every individual decision displayed on-screen as it attempts to complete a series of objectives. While the overall aim is for o3 to complete the entire game, that goal is divided into smaller directives.

As of writing, the model has managed to obtain two of the eight Gym Badges required to access the endgame Elite Four and is now on its way to Vermilion City to hitch a ride on the S.S. Anne.

Article continues after ad

How long that will take remains to be seen, however. Every action, including movement and battles, is assessed for a significant amount of time to find the most efficient action.

What is OpenAI o3?

Unlike ChatGPT, which is a general-purpose chatbot, OpenAI o3 is essentially a more specialized model designed to have superior reasoning for problem-solving.

Article continues after ad

Why Pokemon Red was chosen to showcase these qualities, however, isn’t clear. The Game Boy classic’s slow-paced gameplay, married with several semi-complex mechanics, is one possible answer. Whatever the reason, this is far from the first time Pokemon Red and Blue have been used for experimental endeavours.

Article continues after ad

In 2014, TwitchPlaysPokemon allowed viewers to collectively play Pokemon Red by voting on inputs for the game to make remotely. The stream eventually went viral and ended with the defeat of final boss, Blue, after 16 days.

This isn’t the first instance Pokemon being used to put AI through its paces, either. In April 2025, a software engineer programmed Google’s Gemini to play Pokemon Blue.
