Bitcoin Billionaire Arthur Hayes Predicts Europe Central Bank Turmoil Will Boost BTC

by admin October 3, 2025

In brief

  • Arthur Hayes has previously attacked the U.S. Federal Reserve in his blog posts.
  • This time he’s focusing on the European Central Bank—and honing in on France’s debt.
  • The crypto entrepreneur argues that France’s debt and money printing will cause Bitcoin’s price to surge.

Crypto mogul Arthur Hayes has previously attacked the U.S. central bank when making lofty Bitcoin price predictions. But this time the billionaire is aiming his criticism at the Eurozone.

In a lengthy Wednesday blog post titled “Bastille Day,” the co-founder and former chief of crypto exchange BitMEX said that French citizens moving their money could lead to excessive money printing on behalf of the European Central Bank, in turn benefiting Bitcoin.

Hayes argues that France, the second-largest economy in the Eurozone, has the highest debt, which the central bank will have to tackle by printing to avoid a collapse of the euro.

“The ECB will valiantly print money to forestall the loss of its raison d’être,” Hayes wrote, adding that “France is fucked.”

He continued: “It shall be a glorious day for the faithful as printed euros will combine with printed dollars, yuan, yen, etc to bid up the price of Bitcoin.”

“Either the ECB presses the Brrr button now and implicitly finances the French welfare state, or it does it later when French capital controls threaten to destroy the euro. Either way, money gets printed in the trillions of euros. Bitcoin doesn’t care and will continue its inexorable rise versus the piece of trash that is the euro.”

Hayes has previously said that Bitcoin would end up doing well due to American monetary policy of printing money. The crypto entrepreneur argued earlier this year that Bitcoin’s price could hit $1 million by 2028 due to Federal Reserve monetary policy.

Bitcoin was recently trading for $120,515 per coin, up 7% over the past seven days, with most of the gains occurring this week, according to CoinGecko, following a government shutdown as many investors looked to BTC as a safe-haven asset. The largest crypto by market cap has helped ignite a wider surge in digital assets.

Hayes also forecasted that Ethereum, the second biggest digital coin, will hit $10,000 by the end of 2025. Ethereum stood at $4,492, a nearly 10% gain from a week ago.

Digital asset observers say that investors are interested in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin during periods of unrest and currency debasement.

Bitcoin And Crypto In Turmoil As Tensions Between Trump and Powell Escalate

by admin August 27, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

The Bitcoin and cryptocurrency market is facing heightened volatility as U.S. President Donald Trump escalates his battle with the Federal Reserve.

Trump’s unprecedented move to ‘fire’ Fed Governor Lisa Cook, paired with growing friction with Fed Chair Jerome Powell, has rattled investor confidence and triggered a broad sell-off in risk assets, including Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The Trump – Powell Fallout

Markets had initially welcomed Powell’s dovish hints at the Jackson Hole symposium, where he suggested the Fed may be closer to easing its restrictive monetary policy.

However, optimism quickly faded as Trump pressed for more aggressive rate cuts and attempted to remove a sitting Fed governor, an act widely seen as undermining central bank independence.

The fallout was immediate. Bitcoin (BTC), which had surged past $117,000 after Powell’s remarks, dropped below the key $111,000 level and is now trading more than 12% off its mid-August all-time high.

Ethereum (ETH) slid over 5% overnight, with other leading cryptocurrencies like Solana (SOL), XRP, and Dogecoin (DOGE) also posting steep losses.

Bitcoin Reacts to Uncertainty

The total crypto market capitalization has fallen 2.48% to $3.79 trillion, while trading volume spiked 67% to $220 billion, signaling frantic repositioning by traders. Nearly $900 million in leveraged positions were liquidated in the past 24 hours, amplifying the downturn.

Bitcoin’s dominance has slipped to 57.5%, with Ethereum’s share rising slightly to 14.4% as ETF flows diverged. U.S. Bitcoin Spot ETFs saw $23 million in net outflows on Friday, led by iShares Bitcoin Trust, while Ethereum Spot ETFs recorded $338 million in inflows, highlighting shifting investor sentiment.

Altcoins were not spared. BNB, Cardano, and TRON all posted overnight declines of 3–4%, while meme favorite Dogecoin slumped nearly 5%. A few tokens bucked the trend, HyperLiquid (HYPE) gained 2.6%, and VeChain (VET) climbed 3.6%, but most of the top 100 coins bled heavily.

What’s Next for Bitcoin and the Fed?

Analysts warn that political interference at the Fed could further destabilize markets. Prediction markets currently give just a 9% chance of Powell being ousted in 2025, but Trump’s actions have raised legal and institutional concerns.

If Trump succeeds in reshaping the Fed to favor easier policy, risk assets like Bitcoin could benefit longer term from looser liquidity. For now, traders are focused on key technical levels. Bitcoin must reclaim the $111K–$112K zone to avoid a deeper slide toward $100K.

Bitcoin Sinks Below $110,000 as Fed Turmoil and Economic Data Loom

by admin August 26, 2025

In brief

  • Bitcoin dropped 2.8% to $109,882, with $940 million in long liquidations.
  • Trump’s firing of Fed Governor Lisa Cook rattled markets, briefly sinking the dollar index.
  • Investors await Q2 GDP revisions and core PCE inflation for clues on September rate cuts.

Bitcoin is extending its weekend losses ahead of key macroeconomic events this week that could influence the U.S. Federal Reserve’s September rate cut decision.

Bitcoin slid 2.8% to $109,882 on Tuesday with liquidations, primarily longs, over the past 24 hours topping $940 million, according to CoinGlass data.

“Capital is rotating out of risk, with thin weekend liquidity amplifying swings,” Rachael Lucas, a crypto analyst at BTC Markets, told Decrypt.

The recent drop has pushed Bitcoin below $110,800, or the average cost basis of investors who purchased the top crypto in the past three months.

“Historically, failure to hold above this level has often led to multi-month market weakness and potential deeper corrections,” Glassnode cautioned in a post to X on Tuesday.

The market volatility comes amid U.S. President Donald Trump’s firing of Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook.

The resignation letter posted on TruthSocial after the trading day ended cited “deceitful and potentially criminal conduct” over allegations she falsified documents relating to her primary residence.

Investors balked at the news, with the U.S. dollar index shedding 1% before clawing back losses to 98.32. U.S. futures for major indexes also dropped by a quarter of a percent.

“Markets don’t think this move helps American business,” Justin Wolfers, an economics professor at the University of Michigan, posted on X.

“This is dangerous. This move serves Trump, but not America,” Wolfers added. “Our economy is at risk when the President undermines the Fed,” he said.

Eyes are now fixed on this week’s upcoming revised GDP figures for the second quarter on Thursday, with economists expecting the growth rate to be revised slightly higher to 3.1% from the initial 3% estimate.

Meanwhile, year-over-year core PCE inflation, which tracks changes in consumer spending, is forecast to show inflation re-accelerating, from 2.8% to 2.9%, according to MarketWatch data.

A drop in growth and a larger-than-expected rise in inflation, however, could derail next month’s plans by the Fed, including future cuts this year, Decrypt was previously told.
