Ring, Ring! It’s the First ‘Black Phone 2’ Trailer

by admin June 2, 2025

Those weekend teases had to lead up to something, right? Blumhouse unveiled a full first look at Black Phone 2 during its CCPX panel, and if you’ve ever wanted to see Ethan Hawke ice skate toward someone he intends to murder, this sequel will be for you.

With main baddie the Grabber (Hawke) dead, the sequel picks up years after the first, the now teenage Finney (Mason Thames) and Gwen (Madeline McGraw) Blake dealing with another Colorado winter. Soon, Gwen finds herself dreaming of the Grabber’s lair and three young boys who’ve been killed dead at Alpine Lake Youth Camp. Using a black payphone near the camp, the Grabber calls the teens up saying he’s looking to kill them: either in their dreams or potentially in the real world, he’s gonna get his revenge.

Talking to THR, returning director/co-writer Scott Derrickson called Black Phone 2 a ghost story like its predecessor, but one where “the ghost is the villain.” And with the kids aged up, he and co-writer C. Robert Cargill were excited to “ratchet up the intensity,” since Finn and Gwen in high school makes for a “more violent, scarier, more graphic” film.

Black Phone 2 hits theaters on October 17 and also stars Jeremy Davies, Anna Lore, Arianna Rivas, Miguel Mora, and Demián Bichir.

The ‘War Between Land and the Sea’ Trailer Gives Earth a Battle the Doctor Can’t Stop

by admin May 31, 2025

With the conclusion of the latest season of Doctor Who, all eyes are on what’s next for adventures in time and space… and when, exactly, we’ll be getting them. But before the Doctor returns, Earth is going to have to stand alone in a new spinoff miniseries, The War Between Land and the Sea.

To mark the climax of Doctor Who‘s 2025 season, today the BBC revealed the first footage from War Between Land and Sea, which will see UNIT as the front line of defense when the Sea Devils—a race of aquatic reptilians who have existed on Earth since the dawn of time, hiding their advance civilization in hibernation alongside their other distantly affiliated ancient Earth dwellers, the Silurians, for millions of years—emerge from hiding and make themselves known to the Human race.

How do things go? Well, you could tell by the title of the miniseries alone that the answer to that is seemingly “not well”—and without the Doctor to fall back on like they’ve been able to the last couple of times the Sea Devils and Silurians alike tried to emerge, it’s up to humanity to find away to counter the threat of Earth’s ancient reclaimers… and if not co-exist with them, survive their wrath.

War Between Land and the Sea will feature several familiar faces from Doctor Who. There’s a few returning characters, including Jemma Redgrave, Alexander Devrient, and Ruth Madeley reprising their roles in UNIT as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, Colonel Ibrahim, and Shirley Ann Bingham, respectively. In more of a deep cut, Colin McFarlane will reprise his role as General Austin Pierce from the third season of Torchwood, Children of Earth.

But, as seen in the trailer above, the series also stars two Doctor Who favorites, but as entirely new characters. Loki‘s Gugu Mbatha-Raw played companion Martha Jones’ sister, Tish, throughout the third season of Doctor Who, and is now a mysterious vanguard of the Sea Devils’ return, while Being Human‘s Russell Tovey previously appeared in the 2007 holiday special “Voyage of the Damned” as Midshipman Alonso Frame, now plays Barclay, a human who has seemingly been tasked with leading humanity’s response.

The War Between Land and the Sea will run for five episodes when it hits the BBC in the UK, and Disney+ internationally, and is currently expected to launch sometime in 2026.

The Lonesome Guild is a single-player top-down ARPG developed by Italian indie studio Tiny Bull Studios and set in a world shrouded by loneliness. Elden Ring Nightreign’s official Evanescence trailer is peak cinema

by admin May 30, 2025

Amy Lee is having a big year. First, Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life” became a running bit in HBO’s The Rehearsal after Nathan Fielder hypothesized that an airplane pilot may have listened to the iconic 2003 rock song while pulling off a tricky landing. Now the song is front and center in FromSoftware’s new trailer for Elden Ring Nightreign, the upcoming co-op action game with a Fortnite twist. The combo is as dramatic as it is perfect.

The defibrillating chorus kicks in right when Nightreign’s new class, the Revenant, shows off her summoning powers. As players of the original open-world game might notice, the Revenant looks a lot like the dolls in Elden Ring, which are used to bind spirits into the mortal world. Fittingly, the Revenant is powered with a move set consisting of necromancy and death-defying support spells. The Revenant can temporarily make her allies immortal as well as revive characters who are nearly dead. She’s also showing feet, because of course she is.

In our February preview of the game, we noted that Nightreign takes the bones of Elden Ring and fleshes them out in a more fast-paced arena. Like the original game, much of Nightreign revolves around fearsome bosses who are difficult to kill. This time, though, players team up with two other people and are dropped into a randomly generated map. Players must then scavenge their surroundings while avoiding a miasmic storm haze that slowly forces everyone into an area where a baddie will spawn. There’s a lot of sprinting and split-second decisions to be made, as players won’t have time to kill or collect everything.

Elden Ring Nightreign will be released on May 30. If the prospect of “Bring Me To Life” strikes you as too cringe, you can take refuge in the normie-approved launch trailer instead:

Elden Ring Nightreign’s latest trailer uses Bring Me To Life by Evanescence to supercharge its early 2000s AMV energy

by admin May 30, 2025

A new trailer for Elden Ring Nightreign has been released and it’s, uh, an interesting one. Titled the “Bring Me To Life” trailer, it’s packed full of gameplay that’s cut to go alongside Evanescence’s legendary song of the same name, very much like an AMV.

You can watch the trailer yourself below, but it’s worth noting the video description, which reads, “When your allies have fallen and all seems lost, dig deep down inside and summon the strength of early 2000’s alternative metal. WAKE ME UP.” At least one person with real power inside Bandai Namco’s marketing is responsible for either coming up with this or letting it happen, and we tip our hat to them.

You’ve really got to see it.Watch on YouTube

It’s the sort of trailer that Devolver would make as a joke, but done 100% earnestly. This somehow warps it into something I should find cringey into a trailer I can’t help but laugh at. It’s also well made! It’s hard to explain, but early 2000s AMV editing is quite particular, with its use of slow motion and fades to black. The only mark against its authenticity is that you can watch it at 1080p, when it really should have been capped at 240p.

If you do find it cringey, I offer you a challenge. Watch this trailer, soak in all those feelings, then watch the Dark Souls 3 True Colours trailer and let me know which hurts you more. I’ll take an unironic use of Evanescence over a slowed down sadboy rendition of a classic any day.

Are you going to play Nightreign when it comes out later this week? Let us know below, and why not check out our review too!

Elden Ring Nightreign’s Launch Trailer Summons The Power Of Evanescence

by admin May 29, 2025

We’re just one day away from the launch of Elden Ring Nightreign, From Software’s three-player co-op action game that reimagines Elden Ring as a roguelite to great success. Ahead of its launch, publisher Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for the game that is a must-watch (probably not for a reason you can guess).

Titled “Bring Me To Life Trailer,” this Nightreign trailer utilizes Evanescence’s popular song, “Bring Me To Life,” to great effect to create something that’s more like an AMV (anime music video) or something you’d see on VH1 or MTV in the early 2000s. Perhaps it’s because I’m a millennial (born in 1995, so just barely), but this trailer just feels right.

You can check it out for yourself below:

If you’ve been watching Nathan Fielder’s The Rehearsal on HBO after The Last of Us finishes up on Sunday nights, you might have already had “Bring Me To Life” on your mind for reasons I won’t spoil here – you should watch The Rehearsal if you aren’t already. While it was fun to imagine Fielder had something to do with this trailer’s existence, a Bandai Namco source confirmed that’s not the case.

While waiting for the game to download, read Game Informer’s Elden Ring Nightreign review to find out why I gave the game an 8 out of 10.

Are you picking up Nightreign tomorrow? Let us know in the comments below!

FromSoft leans into the nu-metal vibes and goes full Evanescence with the Elden Ring Nightreign launch trailer

ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN | Bring Me to Life Trailer – YouTube

Watch On

The FromSoftware aesthetic is best summed up by the famous quote from Dark Souls director Hidetaka Miyazaki. When presented with an early, gross and gribbly design for the Undead Dragon in Dark Souls, Miyazaki returned it with the comment that it should be more dignified, saying, “Can’t you instead try to convey the deep sorrow of a magnificent beast doomed to a slow and possibly endless descent into ruin?'”

At some point behind the scenes there must have been a meeting about how to soundtrack the launch trailer for Elden Ring Nightreign. And that meeting ended by deciding that what the majestic ruin of the Lands Between needed was the song you’d hear in a mid-2000s AMV where someone edits all their favorite clips from Berserk together.

Yes, the Elden Ring Nightreign trailer is backed by Bring Me to Life by Evanescence, a slice of crossover nu-metal coming at you direct from 2003. Back then this song was pretty cringeworthy, which is what we said instead of just “cringe” at the time, but like everything you’re embarrassed by, 20 years later you hear it at a retro night and suddenly realize it rules actually.

Bandai Namco does have form here, having released a trailer for Dark Souls soundtracked by folk-rock band The Silent Comedy. In an age of ultra-polished trailers backed by slowed-down cover versions it’s kind of nice to see something a bit more amateurish? When the three heroes do their slow walk into battle during a quiet bit in Bring Me to Life it definitely has a “me and my friends made this” feel that’s appreciated in a game that will ultimately come down to you and your friends working together.

In his review of Elden Ring Nightreign, Tyler Colp recalled that “Everyone cheered in voice chat when Centipede Demon, the boss nobody remembers from Dark Souls, showed up to get obliterated by 14 years of action RPG combat advancement. When the stars align—and they will—Nightreign is unlike anything else I’ve played.” He gave it a score of 80, and though he had plenty to say about its impenetrability and messiness, he also clearly had a good time.

Just like I will, singing “save me from the nothing I’ve become” at my desk for the rest of the day.
