IO Interactive Reveals 007 First Light, Full Trailer Out This Week

by admin June 3, 2025

April’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct revealed many details about the upcoming console, but the most unexpected portion of the showcase was the sweeping announcements of games coming to the platform, which included a lot of surprising titles. Among those was Project 007, a James Bond game we hadn’t heard an update on in years from IO Interactive, the developers behind the Hitman series. Today, we learned the game’s proper name and that a full reveal will drop this week, presumably during one of the summer’s major showcases.

https://x.com/007GameIOI/status/1929553749963350144

The title is 007 First Light, and while details are scarce, a description of the game has appeared on IO Interactive’s official site. “007 First Light is a brand new James Bond video game developed and published by IO Interactive,” the description reads. “Featuring a wholly original Bond origin story, players will step into the shoes of the world’s favorite Secret Agent to earn their 00 status.” The second sentence gives context to the hashtag “EarnTheNumber,” which appeared today in social media posts about the game. This description also confirms what we learned in 2021 – that the story would be a completely original take on the character.

A press release states that the trailer will include “never-before-seen footage,” though it’s unclear if this means gameplay, cutscenes, or some other CG-based teaser.

To catch the reveal live, be sure to bookmark our list of the summer’s biggest showcases. For more IO Interactive, you can read our Hitman 3 review, though the game has much more content now, thanks to the additions it gained when it rebranded as Hitman: World of Assassination.

Summer Game Fest releases hype trailer ahead of weekend of reveals

by admin June 3, 2025

A new trailer has been released for Summer Game Fest ahead of the event this Friday. This montage of big releases – some already playable, others highly anticipated – is clearly a tone setter for the annual gaming showcase, set to kick off a weekend of new trailers and reveals.

Some notable titles featured in this sizzle reel include Death Stranding 2, Dune Awakening, Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, and Mafia: The Old Country. Marathon will also be making an appearance too, its first since an art plagiarism scandal reportedly left morale at Bungie in “free fall”.

As for representation from games you can just go out and buy right now, you’ve got titles like Doom: The Dark Ages, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. It’s unclear as of yet what sort of presence these games will have at the show, but one can assume smaller updates, post-launch content, and so on.

Summer Game Fest: Geoff’s Hype TrailerWatch on YouTube

Indeed many of the games briefly shown off in this new trailer will likely be making some manner of appearance at the show. We know of course that Death Stranding 2 is getting its own premiere separate from the main Summer Game Fest stage on June 8, and thanks to a recent Twitter post by Summer Game Fest founder and host Geoff Keighley we know 2K will be there, hopefully with Mafia in hand.

Of course that same tweet does point towards other big studios that surely will be dropping something exciting during the weekend. Studios like Bandai Namco, Capcom, Digital Extremes, Embark and far more have logos proudly spread across official Summer Game Fest material.

So, it’s safe to say it’ll be a must-watch for those keen to find out what these developers have been cooking up. You can find out when and where to watch all the different streams that make up Summer Game Fest here. That is, if you don’t mind a few late nights.

Gen V Season 2 Trailer Previews Superhero War Against Humans

by admin June 3, 2025

Image: Amazon Prime Video

After the massacre at the end of Gen V’s first season, and the governmental coup at the end of The Boys’ fourth, sophomore year at Godolkin University will be nothing like the one before. By the looks of the newly released trailer, the new season will be focused on seeing the superhero students turn into soldiers.

GameStop Doubles Down On Crypto With Massive Bitcoin Purchase As Stores Close

In the trailer, three of the four Godolkin students captured at the end of the first season—Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan Li (London Thor/Derek Luhu), and Emma Meyer (Lizze Broadway)—have been released from the detention center they were locked away in for thwarting the supe uprising incited by Cate Dunlap (Maddie Phillips) and Sam Riordan (Asa Germann). The Godolkin University they find themselves in now is one with a new dean named Cipher (Hamish Linklater of Midnight Mass) who makes his intentions for the Godolkin students very clear. “You are not students. You are soldiers, and you will fight,” he says.

At the end of The Boys’ fourth season, Homelander (Anthony Starr) became the de facto dictator after Vice President-elect Victoria Newman (Claudia Doumit) was murdered and President-elect Robert Singer (Jim Beaver) was arrested for her assassination after Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) released doctored footage showing Singer ordering the hit. His new puppet-in-command, Steven Calhoun (David Andrews), declares martial law and nationally deputizes superheroes, making Homelander the true commander-in-chief. That’s probably why we see posters of Homelander defaced with the word “Resist” spray-painted across them.

Tensions seem to be rising all around, as we see Godolkin University students yelling “Fuck humans” and other students being pit against each other in what appears to be a gladiatorial test to determine who will be the next soldiers to fight in this dumb war. There’s only so much we can learn from a 138-second trailer, but two things are certain: a species war is coming, and the second season of Gen V will debut on Prime Video on September 17.

New Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour demo trailer shows off mini games and tech demos in-action

by admin June 3, 2025

A new trailer for the Switch 2 Welcome Tour has been released, showing off 20 mini games and 14 tech demos that’ll be playable to those who pick the game up alongside their Nintendo Switch 2.

Games shown include a timed survival game in which you pilot a little space ship and dodge spiked balls, a match-the-tile memory game, a first-person balloon popping game, as well as a driving game that allows you to lean on two tires by tilting the Joycon controller.

As for tech demos, we see a side-by-side comparison between 20fps and 120fps as a football soars across the screen, alongside a model viewer that allows you to quickly swap between different resolutions to see the shift in visual quality firsthand.

You can watch the Switch 2 Welcome Tour trailer yourself here! Though, it is in Japanese.Watch on YouTube

Plus, a macarena shaker demo was briefly shown, which looks to let players feel how the motors inside each Joycon feel with different settings. We don’t get to see everything in store of course, but we can assume each demo will be dedicated to a specific use case for the fancy new features.

Alongside all of this, there’s also an in-game quiz that seems to test you on all the new hardware and software features on the console. Who doesn’t love homework with their new video game console?

All in all it looks to be a fairly comprehensive overview of the console, giving eager beavers with a shiny new Switch 2 a way to familiarise themselves with its new gizmos without having to pour through a big instructions manual.

However, many still wonder why this game is being sold as its own release, rather than it being included alongside the Switch 2 for free like we saw with Astro’s Playroom on the PS5. The former Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime referenced the Welcome Tour being sold for $10 by speaking about the past, when the Wii Sports was released for free alongside the Nintendo Wii.

Nintendo itself has defended selling the game rather than bundling it in with the console, stating that the game is being sold due to the “amount of care and work” put into it.

The Switch 2 Welcome Tour will be released on June 5, alongside the Nintendo Switch 2. It will cost £7.99 here in the UK.

The New ‘M3GAN 2.0’ Trailer Is Hilariously Over the Top and We Can’t Wait

by admin June 2, 2025

Clearly, a movie about a killer robot who looks like a young child has to have a sense of humor about it. Without that, it’s hard to take the character seriously. It’s a big part of why, back in 2022, M3GAN became a breakout hit. It was gory and thrilling, but also very self-aware and completely hilarious. Now, for its sequel, it’s taking all of that and dialing it way, way up, where the lines between humor and horror are basically completely gone.

In other words, it looks amazing.

The latest trailer for M3GAN 2.0 is here ahead of its release June 27, and it’s filled with new footage. New action scenes, new dialogue scenes, and M3GAN fully embracing that she is willing to kill any and everyone to protect the now-teenage Cady (Violet McGraw). Check this out.

We thought Ahsoka star Ivanna Sakhno joining as the more advanced and evil killer robot, Amelia, was what we were looking forward to most in M3GAN 2.0, and yet, now after this new trailer, that’s up for debate. M3GAN helping her creator Gemma (Allison Williams) get in on the action has rapidly risen up the list as has their relationship. We love the scene here where Gemma is trying to process that M3GAN is willing to help them fight Amelia now, and how M3GAN has to convince Gemma that actually, it’s okay if she murders a whole lot of people along the way.

The danger with this movie, however, is just how campy is it going to get? There’s probably a line somewhere where the gore and horror can get completely overtaken by the jokes, dancing, and Britney Spears needle drops. Probably. With any luck M3GAN 2.0 will find that line but not cross it. Just gently dance up to it in its pink armor and Geordi La Forge sunglasses.

Directed by Gerard Johnstone, M3GAN 2.0 opens June 27.

Here’s another terrifying trailer for that creepy retro survival horror game that’s half FMV, half pixel-art

by admin June 2, 2025

I’ve been spooked by plenty of pixel-art horror games, like Signalis or Look Outside. But I can’t think of an FMV game that’s truly frightened me. The bit in The 7th Guest where hands try to come out of the painting seemed eerie when I was a kid, but now it’s pure kitsch. Watching the first trailer for Tenebris Somnia made me think I might be properly frightened by FMV in a videogame at last.

The second trailer cements that feeling. It bounces back and forth between live-action and the kind of pixel art I associate with games like Maniac Mansion, and while the retro art leaves you to imagine all the gory details of a blood-soaked bed or a two-faced woman with a mouth like a gaping portal to eternal darkness, the FMV cutscenes straight-up show you that stuff and it’s pure nightmare fuel.

Tenebris Somnia – Trailer 2 – YouTube

Watch On

I’ve seen a couple of comments where people are suspicious of how good the cutscenes look, since they could pass for a decently budgeted horror movie and we’re used to seeing FMV that looks, well, cheap. “Has AI generation been used in the making of this trailer?” asked someone on the Steam forum. Dave Oshry himself, CEO of publisher New Blood Interactive, showed up to reply, “Absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ not.”

You may like

So put your mind at ease. Nothing as terrifying as Stable Diffusion’s power usage appears in Tenebris Somnia, and the only thing we have to fear is the guy with candles for a head. And the flying things with white masks and gigantic teeth. And the round guy in the old-timey suit who vomits. And literally everything else glimpsed in the trailers.

We don’t have a release date yet for Tenebris Somnia, but there is a demo on the Steam page, should you dare to download it.

Ring, Ring! It’s the First ‘Black Phone 2’ Trailer

by admin June 2, 2025

Those weekend teases had to lead up to something, right? Blumhouse unveiled a full first look at Black Phone 2 during its CCPX panel, and if you’ve ever wanted to see Ethan Hawke ice skate toward someone he intends to murder, this sequel will be for you.

With main baddie the Grabber (Hawke) dead, the sequel picks up years after the first, the now teenage Finney (Mason Thames) and Gwen (Madeline McGraw) Blake dealing with another Colorado winter. Soon, Gwen finds herself dreaming of the Grabber’s lair and three young boys who’ve been killed dead at Alpine Lake Youth Camp. Using a black payphone near the camp, the Grabber calls the teens up saying he’s looking to kill them: either in their dreams or potentially in the real world, he’s gonna get his revenge.

Talking to THR, returning director/co-writer Scott Derrickson called Black Phone 2 a ghost story like its predecessor, but one where “the ghost is the villain.” And with the kids aged up, he and co-writer C. Robert Cargill were excited to “ratchet up the intensity,” since Finn and Gwen in high school makes for a “more violent, scarier, more graphic” film.

Black Phone 2 hits theaters on October 17 and also stars Jeremy Davies, Anna Lore, Arianna Rivas, Miguel Mora, and Demián Bichir.

The ‘War Between Land and the Sea’ Trailer Gives Earth a Battle the Doctor Can’t Stop

by admin May 31, 2025

With the conclusion of the latest season of Doctor Who, all eyes are on what’s next for adventures in time and space… and when, exactly, we’ll be getting them. But before the Doctor returns, Earth is going to have to stand alone in a new spinoff miniseries, The War Between Land and the Sea.

To mark the climax of Doctor Who‘s 2025 season, today the BBC revealed the first footage from War Between Land and Sea, which will see UNIT as the front line of defense when the Sea Devils—a race of aquatic reptilians who have existed on Earth since the dawn of time, hiding their advance civilization in hibernation alongside their other distantly affiliated ancient Earth dwellers, the Silurians, for millions of years—emerge from hiding and make themselves known to the Human race.

How do things go? Well, you could tell by the title of the miniseries alone that the answer to that is seemingly “not well”—and without the Doctor to fall back on like they’ve been able to the last couple of times the Sea Devils and Silurians alike tried to emerge, it’s up to humanity to find away to counter the threat of Earth’s ancient reclaimers… and if not co-exist with them, survive their wrath.

War Between Land and the Sea will feature several familiar faces from Doctor Who. There’s a few returning characters, including Jemma Redgrave, Alexander Devrient, and Ruth Madeley reprising their roles in UNIT as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, Colonel Ibrahim, and Shirley Ann Bingham, respectively. In more of a deep cut, Colin McFarlane will reprise his role as General Austin Pierce from the third season of Torchwood, Children of Earth.

But, as seen in the trailer above, the series also stars two Doctor Who favorites, but as entirely new characters. Loki‘s Gugu Mbatha-Raw played companion Martha Jones’ sister, Tish, throughout the third season of Doctor Who, and is now a mysterious vanguard of the Sea Devils’ return, while Being Human‘s Russell Tovey previously appeared in the 2007 holiday special “Voyage of the Damned” as Midshipman Alonso Frame, now plays Barclay, a human who has seemingly been tasked with leading humanity’s response.

The War Between Land and the Sea will run for five episodes when it hits the BBC in the UK, and Disney+ internationally, and is currently expected to launch sometime in 2026.
