Four years later, PlayStation and Insomniac gives Marvel’s Wolverine a 2026 release window, debuts trailer full of blood, brutality, and blades

by admin September 24, 2025

Other than that brief teaser from 2021, any official word on Insomniac’s Wolverine has been slimmer than an adamantium claw blade. But today – finally! – at Sony’s State of Play livestream, the developer has kicked down the door, made that trademark ‘snikt’ sound, and shown us an uber-violent trailer and behind-the-scenes video chronicling the development of the game so far.

We’ve also got a release window: Fall 2026.

The trailer, and the behind-the-scenes footage, confirms that this will be a project that takes in a lot of Wolverine’s history: we’ve seen proof of life of important locations to him like Japan, Madripoor, and the American North, whilst key characters in his history like Omega Red and Mystique have thus far been confirmed. Will we see more X-Men – Jean Grey or Cyclops? – or maybe even some external team-ups (Colossus, Hulk, and Cable come to mind…)

Check out the videos below.

“Become a living weapon,” reads a blurb. “As he searches for answers about his past, Wolverine will do whatever it takes – unleashing brutal claw combat, violent rage, and relentless determination – to cut through the mystery of the man he used to be.”

Here’s some more info about how Insomniac is bringing Logan to life, per the PS Blog:

Bold, resilient, and volatile, Wolverine is a character that all of us at Insomniac are thrilled to explore in collaboration with our friends at Marvel Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment. Like our Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise, we’re once again combining our super powers to deliver an original take on a beloved character based on Marvel Comics.

Our Wolverine, AKA Logan, is played by actor Liam McIntyre who taps into the rage, pain, and nuances of this iconic character. In this story, he is on the hunt to uncover the secrets of a dark past that keeps eluding him. Unfortunately, in this world, he’ll have to dig his claws deep to pull any shred of information that may lead to answers. Often, that means shredding into a relentless onslaught of enemies who aim to stop him by any means necessary. Fueled by unflinching resilience (and a rapid healing factor), Wolverine won’t go down easy if it means keeping the mission on task.

Wolverine was first teased back in 2021, during a PlayStation Showcase. At this time, the studio stated the game was still “very early in development”. It also still had its Marvel’s Spider-Man sequel in the works at this point, with that project ultimately releasing in 2023.

The most we’ve seen from the game, to date, was actually back in 2023, when files were stolen from Insomniac Games by ransomware hackers. Following this attack, people began playing – and uploading footage – of an incomplete early development build of Wolverine, which was found within the stolen files. Safe to say, things are looking a bit more like a finalised game right now.

We’re going to see more of the game in Spring 2026, apparently. See you then, bub.

The campaign takes players from Brooklyn to Gibraltar and features plenty of exploding vehicles, buildings, and anything not impervious to military weaponry. Check out the trailer below.

Hideo Kojima’s OD captures the spirit of P.T. in the first gameplay trailer

by admin September 23, 2025

Kojima Productions, the studio helmed by auteur and famed cardboard box enthusiast Hideo Kojima, has finally given us our first glimpse of gameplay for the horror game OD. Developed in collaboration with Get Out and Us director Jordan Peele, OD is being billed as a totally unique experience that Kojima expects to divide players. It’s also going to leverage Microsoft’s cloud gaming tech in ways we’re not yet aware of, with Xbox Game Studios publishing the game.

In the new just over three-minute trailer entitled “Knock”, we see first-person gameplay footage of the player character (played by a ludicrously photorealistic Sophia Lillis) anxiously lighting a series of candles, several of which have babies on them, because Kojima. In the background we hear a very ominous knocking sound, with the trailer ending as Lillis’ character is grabbed by someone (or something) who doesn’t appear to be especially friendly.

If you were fortunate enough to play P.T., the playable (and tragically no longer accessible) teaser for Kojima and Guillermo del Toro’s cancelled Silent Hill game, you’ll know that the Metal Gear creator clearly understands how to craft terrifying horror experiences. From what we’ve seen so far, it looks like the spirit of P.T. at least lives on in OD.

It’s been a busy day for Kojima and his studio, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and has so far exclusively released Death Stranding games. At Kojima Productions’ “Beyond the Strand” event it was also announced that the studio is partnering with Niantic Spatial to develop what appears to be some kind of AR experience that brings Kojima’s “iconic storytelling into the real world.” Whether that means you can one day expect to encounter a virtual Norman Reedus attempting to steady his wobbling backpack on your way to the grocery store remains unclear, but Kojima Productions says the collaboration represents a “bold expansion into new forms of media beyond traditional gaming.”

And if all of that wasn’t enough, Kojima Productions is also teaming up with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group on a new credit card. It seemingly functions like a regular old credit card that can also be added to your phone, but you can accumulate reward points that can be spent on Kojima Productions merch and other items. Don’t get too excited unless you live in Japan, though, as it doesn’t look like the Kojima-branded credit card will be making its way to our shores when it launches next year.

Critical Role Releases Official Trailer for Campaign 4

by admin September 23, 2025

The new season of Critical Role is taking shape as they have released an official trailer for the highly anticipated next season:

Critical Role, a leader in storytelling and world building, today officially released the trailer for Campaign 4, the highly anticipated next chapter in its flagship series. Premiering Thursday, October 2, the new campaign will introduce a new world, a new cast featuring a rotating tables format, and, for the first time in Critical Role’s core campaign, a brand new Game Master. After three beloved campaigns set in the fantasy world of Exandria featuring the stories of Vox Machina (Campaign 1), The Mighty Nein (Campaign 2), and Bells Hells (Campaign 3), Critical Role is making a bold leap to an entirely new world called Aramán, marking a major evolution for the franchise. This campaign will also follow a stellar extended cast of players including Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Matthew Mercer, Liam O’Brien, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, Travis Willingham, Luis Carazo, Robbie Daymond, Aabria Iyengar, Whitney Moore, and Alexander Ward, with Brennan Lee Mulligan weaving this new saga as Game Master.Using the updated 2024 rules for Dungeons & Dragons, mixed with some homebrew elements from renowned creatives Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford, Campaign 4 sets the stage for a world on the brink. A hero to many, and enemy to some, when Thjazi Fang is marked for execution, various figures from across his remarkable life unite to uncover the truth behind his grim fate.

Against this backdrop, the cast will traverse the new world of Aramán in a West Marches-style approach to gameplay where the story unfolds through the perspectives of three distinct rotating tables: the valiant Soldiers, the vigorous Seekers, and the veiled Schemers. As their paths converge, we’ll dive deeper into Aramán, a world of wonder with sorcery stemming from the graveyard of the gods and carrying forward the spirit of epic sagas reminiscent of The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones.

In a land still suffering from the fallout of dead gods and living in the shadow of a tumultuous rebellion, these disparate people will come together across the fractured world of Aramán and connect in ways they never imagined. As hope and victory fade, a question hangs over Aramán. Without the Gods, what great deeds now fall to us? And who, or what, shall grab their crown for themselves?

Campaign 4 will premiere with instant access on Beacon.tv as well as streamed to Critical Role’s YouTube and Twitch channels on October 2, with the VOD available for everyone the following Monday and podcast episodes available in two parts: the first one week after the premiere, and the second on the following Tuesday. Beacon members will also get exclusive access to all episodes of Critical Role Cooldown for Campaign 4, where the cameras keep rolling and you get a front row seat to the cast’s post-show reactions.

Disney’s Mandalorian and Grogu trailer shows the fall of a lumbering giant

by admin September 22, 2025

Disney, a company that definitely isn’t dealing with a major crisis right now, has released a trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu. The movie follows on from the events of Disney+ series The Mandalorian — a show that director Jon Favreau created — and the fall of the Empire in Return of the Jedi. It’s set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.

The 94-second clip doesn’t offer much in the way of plot details, though it does show Sigourney Weaver as a fighter pilot and Jabba the Hutt’s son Rotta (Jeremy Allen White). Mando (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu battle against bots and beasts, and the pair blows up an AT-AT. I’m sure there’s nothing to be read into seeing a lumbering giant attempting to traverse a precarious path only to fail spectacularly at this specific moment in Disney’s history.

The trailer does make it seem like the movie will retain the adventurous spirit and humor of The Mandalorian, with Grogu getting to be as cute as ever. In a fun beat, the diminutive creature uses the Force to try to steal a snack from Weaver’s character, only to be denied.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will be the first Star Wars movie to hit theaters in over six years. Star Wars: Starfighter is slated to arrive a year later.

Mandalorian And Grogu Gets First Trailer As Disney Hits The Boycott Panic Button

by admin September 22, 2025

Chrome Boba Fett and the little baby Yoda are here to help you forget all about Disney’s complicity in a grim attack on free speech. Out in less than nine months, The Mandalorian and Grogu now has its first trailer, and the next Star Wars movie looks both incredibly unnecessary and also lots of fun.

The film stars Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian bounty hunter, with his Force-sensitive sidekick Grogu looking as adorable as ever. Set after the TV series, the film finds the pair back in the galactic hotseat, navigating post-war tensions between the New Republic (Sigourney Weaver plays a colonel named Ward) and remnants of the Empire (Jonny Coyne plays an imperial warlord). Also Jabba the Hutt’s son Rotta is in the mix too.

Here’s a brief look:

The whole 90 seconds flashes by in an instant, but in addition to the aforementioned characters you can also catch a glimpse of some alien guy messing people up with an electrostaff and Grogu speeding around with some other cute god-knows-whats (paging Star Wars lore master Zack Zwiezen). But like I said at the top, it looks fun and not mired down in a bunch of Star Wars naval-gazing mythbuilding, which is a good a thing.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is directed by Jon Favreau and co-written by Favreau and Dave Filoni, and marks the first in a fresh slate of upcoming Star Wars movies for Disney. With everything else, including a new Jedi-centric tale with Daisy Ridley returning as Rey completely MIA, it’ll either feel like the start of something new or the death knell for the current streaming-wars-burnout incarnation of the franchise. The movie hits theaters on May 22, 2026, and can’t come soon enough for a company currently facing a boycott from fans and celebrities over the Jimmy Kimmel controversy.

Splinter Cell: Deathwatch Trailer Reveals Sam Fisher's New Enemy

Splinter Cell: Deathwatch Trailer Reveals Sam Fisher’s New Enemy

by admin September 16, 2025

Next month, Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher is coming out of retirement in a new Netflix animated series, Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. While the show will feature a new story that’s not adapted from the games, the latest trailer for Deathwatch reveals that one of the primary adversaries is someone with a link to Sam’s past.

The previous trailer for Deathwatch had a quick glimpse of a gravestone for Douglas Shetland, who was a character in the Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory games. Douglas was also one of Sam’s closest friends, but when he turned against his country, Sam felt there was no other choice but to kill him.

This trailer briefly revisits the final moments of Doug’s life before jumping back to his grave. Sam’s decision appears to be coming back to haunt him, now that Douglas’ daughter, Diana Shetland, has emerged as the CEO of Xanadu, the corporation that’s pulling the strings of a new crisis.

Liev Schreiber is stepping into the role of Sam for the series. Michael Ironside has voiced Sam in most of the Splinter Cell video games to date, but the role was also played by Eric Johnson in Splinter Cell: Blacklist, the most recent game in the series. The Sandman’s Kirby Howell-Baptiste is voicing a new agent, Zinnia McKenna, alongside Janet Varney as Anna “Grim” Grímsdóttir, and Joel Oulette as Thunder.

John Wick co-creator Derek Kolstad is the head writer and producer for Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, and the animation was provided by Sun Creature Studio and Fost. Netflix will debut the series on October 14.

On the video game front, there is a Splinter Cell remake in development, but there hasn’t been many updates about that game since it was announced in 2022. Earlier this year, Ubisoft added Steam achievements to Splinter Cell: Blacklist, which was released in 2013.

The new Splinter Cell: Deathwatch trailer is action-packed, but there’s a Michael Ironside-shaped hole

by admin September 16, 2025

A trailer dropped today for Netflix’s animated Splinter Cell show, and it’s all guns and glory. Bloody fistfights, car chases, a diving tackle through a window—all to unravel a mystery that hits awful close to home for our grizzled protagonist. “Sam Fisher is back and this time, the mission is personal.” Again!

It hits all the narrative and aesthetic beats I expect out of a modern spy thriller, and through that lens, I think it looks pretty neat. There’s a mysterious wristwatch with coveted blueprints inside it somehow and yes, they plug it into a giant wall of green monitors, and yes, I eat that kind of thing up. But short of a few referential nods, I think the trailer is sadly a little light on Splinter Cell vibes specifically.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch | Official Trailer | Netflix – YouTube

Watch On

It’s a lot of action and energy for largely methodical, unhurried stealth games. My favorite moments in Splinter Cell never involved big fist fights or car chases, they involved silently panicking as guards circled me hiding in the one safe shadow in a patrol-filled room. Guns and brawls were a sign things had gone wrong, and I was most elated when the only enemies that ever saw me ended up unconscious in a crate somewhere.

Okay, maybe that wouldn’t make great TV. But our main character feels a little off, too, given that he’s not played by Michael Ironside. In Chaos Theory, for example, Sam Fisher isn’t so much a gruff action-man badass as he is a wry cynic. Sure, he beats the daylights out of people and dismantles international terrorism plots or whatever, but most of his dialog is blasé piss-taking and smug quips. Ironside’s performance had a venerable, benign sensibility to it; Liev Schreiber’s performance sounds good, but it also sounds a lot more like the archetypal movie spy.

Granted, that probably works for a much older, scruffier Sam Fisher. But I find myself a lot more interested in new agent Zinnia McKenna, played by Kirby Howell-Baptiste, who we have much more to learn about (and doesn’t have to live up to a 20-year history of being conventionally cool). I’m not convinced by this trailer the show will have much new to say about Sam Fisher, so hopefully there are some newer ideas and characters in the mix that can make a fun watch of Deathwatch.

Deathwatch will be available to stream on Netflix on October 14, 2025.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

New Splinter Cell Trailer Picks A Canon Ending For Chaos Theory

New Splinter Cell Trailer Picks A Canon Ending For Chaos Theory

by admin September 16, 2025

The official trailer for Netflix and Ubisoft’s upcoming animated series, Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, gives us a much better look at this new version of Sam Fisher and lets us hear more of Liev Schreiber as the aging operative. And while I was nervous at first, I now feel confident that Schreiber can pull this off. Now let’s just hope the show itself is good, too.

On September 16, Ubisoft released the official trailer for Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. The new animated show adapts Ubisoft’s popular stealth-action video game franchise into an episodic series that will premiere on Netflix exclusively on October 14. Here’s the trailer, which features Sam Fisher doing what you expect: sneaking around, wearing cool goggles, killing people with wire, and being cranky about stuff.

We get to hear more of Liev Schreiber’s take on Sam Fisher, and while it is different than the version established by Michael Ironside, I appreciate that he still sounds like an old guy who is about to snap at any point, and if he does, God help anyone caught in his way. While I’ll miss Ironside, who voiced the character in the original games, I’m happy that Sam is in good hands. And honestly, I’m just excited to get more Splinter Cell in any form.

In this new trailer, we learn more about what this show is actually about.  After a younger agent, Zinnia, gets her hands on some valuable intel, she comes to Sam Fisher for help. This brings Fisher into a mission that involves Douglas Shetland, a villainous character and former friend from the Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory games. His daughter is all grown up and running what appears to be an evil corporation of some kind. Uh oh!

Interestingly, in the trailer, we briefly see the ending of Chaos Theory, with Sam and Douglas standing with guns pointed at each other. It also seems like this series makes it canon that Sam Fisher shot Shetland. In the game, it was a choice between shooting him and not shooting him. If you didn’t pull the trigger, Shetland would shoot at Sam, forcing him to dodge Shetland’s attack before stabbing and killing him. It’s not 100% clear yet if Deathwatch is canon with the games, but if it is, I wonder what else the show will introduce into the franchise’s (surprisingly) sprawling lore.

Splinter Cell: Deathwatch is being written and produced by John Wick writer Derek Kolstad. It will be available on Netflix on October 14.
