New Hampshire Tops List of Most Crypto-Friendly U.S. States: Study

by admin June 2, 2025

A new ranking of crypto-friendly U.S. states puts New Hampshire at the top despite its steep electricity prices and lack of bitcoin mining activity. The state scores high due to its zero capital gains tax, lack of restrictive crypto regulation and a dense network of crypto-accepting businesses and ATMs.

The study, conducted by digital mining hardware maker ASICKey, evaluated all 50 states using seven weighted factors: capital gains tax, regulatory environment, crypto adoption in business, job availability, ATM density, electricity cost, and mining presence. Tax policy and business usage were given the most weight.

New Hampshire earned the highest score — 71.22 out of 100 — with 4.4 crypto businesses and 9.3 ATMs per 100,000 people. Wyoming followed with a score of 61.89, thanks to the highest blockchain job concentration nationwide (118.4 per 100,000), low energy costs, and minimal regulation.

Nevada, Texas, and Alaska round out the top five. Each state has its own strengths — Nevada’s crypto-accepting business sector, Texas’s significant mining footprint, and Alaska’s strong blockchain job market — while also benefiting from 0% capital gains taxes.

The study underlines how tax structure and state policy shape the crypto landscape. States with favorable tax codes and clear regulatory paths appear to attract more infrastructure and job creation, while high taxes or unclear rules may slow adoption.

Elden Ring Nightreign Tops Steam But Fans Have Some Harsh Takes

by admin May 30, 2025

Elden Ring Nightreign had a huge first night on PC. It’s already FromSoftware’s second-biggest launch ever on Steam. But the multiplayer spin-off of the 2022 hit open-world RPG is also already getting hammered by user reviews as fans complain about the lack of onboarding, poor communication tools, and the need to play with friends to have any real shot at surviving the challenging boss fights.

The Top 10 Most-Played Games On Steam Deck: August 2023 Edition

Officially out today on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, Elden Ring Nightreign went live on PC last night at around 6:00 p.m. ET. The latest release from the Dark Souls team immediately sprang up the Steam charts to reach over 300,000 concurrent players. That made it the fourth-biggest game on Valve’s storefront and the second-biggest FromSoftware launch on PC behind Elden Ring. Its namesake and its $40 price point clearly did the experimental multiplayer spin-off some favors.

But it didn’t take players long to realize that Nightreign is very much not Elden Ring. Unlike its slow, plodding predecessor, the spin-off is a battle royale-influenced loot race in which sessions see an entire Soulsborne experience condensed into just 45 minutes. It takes some getting used to, and players are already coming to grips with Nightreign’s notable hostility to explaining itself, even for a FromSoftware game. And while it does allow for offline solo play, its steep difficulty curve—more of a right angle really—heavily rewards group play and coordination.

“If you don’t have 2 other friends to play with in voice chat, don’t waste your time,” wrote Steam user Hishamm. “Game is Elden Ring, but 3p, and the solo queue is abysmal.” “Gameplay itself seems fun but I can’t possible leave a positive review if a game released in 2025 has no way to communicate in a coop game (neither voice nor text chat),” wrote Lynni. “Impossible to make progress without voice chat,” wrote Vahit Horoz. “If you have 3 friends you can talk to and play regularly, you will have a great time, the connection is smooth, the map is full of events and the game loop is very interesting.”

The game currently has a Steam rating of 65 percent, making it the lowest-scored FromSoftware release on the platform outside of Dark Souls III’s Ashes of Ariandel DLC. The reviews are full of complaints about the lack of duos (you have to either play alone or with a three-stack) and how matchmaking with strangers often leads to people randomly running around the map without coordinating, a task made harder by the lack of communication tools outside of pings and emotes. I think that might even out in the days and weeks ahead as players learn the basics of the randomized Nightreign map and how much more efficient you are together than split up, but the lack of modern multiplayer features is a real issue.

Prior to launch, director Junya Ishizaki told IGN that duos support wasn’t planned any time soon. “We are trying to cater to a fun experience with three people,” he said. “So making sure the experience is fun at its core with a group of three, but it also doesn’t collapse if it’s a solo player as well … in putting all our efforts into that aspect, we kind of overlooked and neglected the duos aspect, but this is something that we are looking at and considering for post-launch support as well.”

It’s also unclear if FromSoftware is planning to dial back the difficulty for solo players in an upcoming patch. Nightlord bosses are practically impossible at the moment for all but the most experienced and hardcore Elden Ring loners. A mysterious day-one patch alluded to balance changes and other improvements, but didn’t spell out exactly what those changes are. If FromSoftware does decide to dial things back a bit, it wouldn’t be the first time it’s made one of its games easier. The studio quickly made Shadow of the Erdtree’s final boss much easier when it kicked everyone’s ass last summer. We’ll see if Nightreign eventually takes mercy on players without friends as well.

Elden Ring Nightreign becomes immediate smash hit and tops Steam charts

by admin May 30, 2025

Elden Ring Nightreign’s success was uncertain considering the game’s nature as a co-op focused spinoff of a game many people choose to play as a purely single-player experience. However, the Steam player counts have proven that the game still has a massive audience.

At the time of writing, it hasn’t even been two hours since the game released, and it’s already near the top of the all-time steam charts at over 300k concurrent players. That doesn’t even include console.

If Nightreign is able to continue at this current rate, there’s a good chance it’ll cross the finish line as one of 2025’s most played games. It could even come close to Elden Ring‘s monolithic concurrent player count record of almost 1 million.

Elden Ring Nightreign immediately takes over Steam charts

A quick look at the Steam charts for every From Software game reveals just how far this developer has come and how popular their games are nowadays.

While the original Dark Souls redefined the games industry as we know it, that game had a slow burn. Not everyone was into it at first. PC gaming also wasn’t nearly as popular 10 years ago as it is now, meaning that most of FromSoftware’s greatest hits didn’t come out at a time their player count would have been represented on Steam in the droves we see today.

Nightreign immediately gained double the concurrent player record of Armored Core 6, the next highest player count game behind Elden Ring, upon release. It’s massively popular, even for a game of FromSoft’s pedigree.

Additionally, Nightreign already sits comfortably in the top 50 most played games of all time on Steam, beating out several massive free-to-play releases despite having a $40 price tag. Though it still comes in below huge games like Marvel Rivals, the fact that everyone playing it paid upfront makes this game hugely profitable for FromSoft.

As for the game’s quality, we quite liked it. Although it’s worth noting that Nightreign is a lot better with friends, which may be part of why its had such a massive player count explosion upon release.

If you’re just hopping into the game for yourself and looking to figure out which classes are the best to level, how to optimize your graphics on PC, and some crucial tips about remapping your controls, we’ve got you covered.

BTC Enters Strongest Accumulation Phase Since January as Bitcoin Price Tops $110K

by admin May 23, 2025

Bitcoin

has entered a strong accumulation phase across all wallet cohorts for the first time since January, signaling renewed bullish sentiment as the largest cryptocurrency trades above $110,000, an 18% gain over the past month.

Glassnode’s Accumulation Trend Score has reached its maximum value of 1.0, indicating broad-based, aggressive accumulation by investors irrespective of the amount of BTC they already hold. The metric evaluates the relative strength of buying by different wallet sizes, factoring in both their existing holdings and the amount acquired over the past 15 days. It excludes exchanges and miners to avoid distortion.

The latest accumulation wave began in early May, led by whales holding over 10,000 BTC. As the price began to climb, cohorts with smaller holdings followed, intensifying their accumulation behavior.

This marks a significant shift from the January-to-April period, when most cohorts were in reducing their holdings as bitcoin tumbled from its then-record high of $109,000 to lows around $75,000.

Trend Accumulation Score By Cohort (Glassnode)

The renewed demand is supported by options market activity, with CoinDesk Research highlighting large bullish positions. The $300,000 strike for June expiry has become the most popular call option, with $620 million in notional value, and an additional $420 million is concentrated around the $200,000 strike.

Open Interest By Strike Price (Deribit)

While bitcoin historically tends to fall after hitting an all-time high due to profit-taking, traditional assets like the S&P 500 and gold often extend their rallies in similar scenarios. If bitcoin were to follow this more mature asset behavior, it may signal the beginning of a sustained bull cycle, a trend many in the market are now watching closely.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered tops April sales, becoming 2025’s third-biggest selling game | US Monthly Charts

by admin May 22, 2025

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered topped Circana’s charts for US game sales in April 2025 – becoming the third best-selling game of the year to date – while video game spending across games, hardware, and accessories all slipped a little year-on-year, by 2%, 8%, and 2%, respectively.

As noted by analysts Circana, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion: Remastered sold more units in April 2025 than The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion achieved across its first 15 months in market combined. It has also generated more “full game dollar sales” than the original’s first 14 months combined.

As detailed by Circana’s executive director, Mat Piscatella, Forza Horizon 5 was the second-best-selling game after its PS5 debut, whilst Indiana Jones and the Great Circle – which also jumped to PS5 this month – came in in third position. Four of the top five – and five of the top seven – best-selling PlayStation games were published by Microsoft.

In news unlikely to surprise you, Call of Duty HQ led all titles when it comes to monthly active users, but Schedule 1 boasted the biggest active users in April on Steam. Monopoly Go!, Royal Match, and Candy Crush Saga were the biggest games in terms of consumer spending in April.

Hardware sales in April fell to $186 million – that’s down 8% year-on-year, and the “lowest monthly hardware dollar sales total reached in the US market since July 2020. While both PS5 and Switch hardware sales were down – the latter by a considerable 37% – Xbox bucked the trend by seeing Xbox Series sales increase by 8%. Accessory spending was down 2% YoY.

“While April 2025 showed a slight decline in the U.S. mobile games market compared to March, several top games continued to perform strongly,” said Lexi Wei of Sensor Tower.

“Gossip Harbor: Merge & Story experienced the most significant ranking improvement this month, climbing five spots to enter the top ten at #9. This surge was driven by a 9.8% increase in consumer spending, largely attributed to the Easter Jamboree event launched on April 10, which introduced new decorative content and gameplay elements.”
