Tony Hawk Recreated THUG’s Classic Intro And Fans Are Excited

by admin September 16, 2025

It was just earlier this year that Activision published Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, a remastered collection of two of the best games in the skateboarding series. But now, after a fun video from Hawk himself, fans are once again begging for a Tony Hawk’s Underground remake to join the series’ slate of recent re-releases.

Over the weekend, Tony Hawk posted a short video on his personal Instagram page. In it, the skateboarding legend re-created the intro cutscene found in the original PS2-era Tony Hawk’s Underground. Here’s the short video:

In the video, Hawk can be seen taking on the role of the player-created character, even wearing a similar outfit to the one sported by the default character. Using some nice editing, Hawk interacts with the game’s popular villain, Eric Sparrow, even calling him a bully at one point. At the very end, Hawk leaves and jokes, “Whoa! I can get off my board?!”, a reference to the fact that in THUG players could, for the first time in franchise history, hop off their skateboards and walk around levels.

But before you get too excited and assume Tony Hawk is teasing some future Underground remake ala THPS 3+4, calm down. The video is marked as “Not a THUG promo.” Hawk also claims that the reason he created this short bit of nostalgia bait is to have some fun and celebrate Video Games Day.

“In hopes of bringing some joy to your timeline: Happy Video Games Day from E.S. and me,” posted Hawk on Instagram.

And like, yeah, I get that he’s trying to make it clear this isn’t a teaser, but of course, the internet is going to internet. Many are already assuming or hoping that this Instagram post is actually the first bit of marketing for a full-on Tony Hawk’s Underground remake. And while I do think a Tony Hawk’s Underground remake is coming one day, I do believe Hawk here, and this is just him having fun with fans. The famous skater has said in the past that he would love a THUG remake, but made it clear that he doesn’t get to make that call. It’s all up to Activision, and considering the five-year gap between THPS 1+2 and THPS 3+4, I’d suggest fans go play THUGPro or something else while they wait for a THUG remake, because it’s likely many years away.

Take $15 Off ‘Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4’ Remasters Right Now

by admin August 22, 2025

Looking for a healthy dose of gaming nostalgia? You can save $15 on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, freshly remastered for basically every gaming console, including the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s relatively uncommon for newer titles to get a discount, especially on the latest Nintendo console, so this is a good time to scoop them if you’re interested.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4

If you’ve never played a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game, you’re missing out! The first game dropped in 1999, and they have steadily evolved over the years with bigger tricks, more points, and an ever-growing cast of real professional skaters. In recent years, Vicarious Visions and Iron Galaxy have buckled up the proverbial helmet and remastered the early games in the series, starting with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 in 2020.

Notably, the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 remasters don’t include the career mode, a big shift made by the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 that gave quests to NPCs around each map. Instead, both games use more traditional two-minute rounds, with a list of objectives to try and complete during that time.

There are three entirely new maps for the remaster, my favorite of which is set on a huge pinball machine, complete with an even larger Tony Hawk looking down on you as you skate. I like that it feels unique and new, while still having that fun, slightly off-kilter vibe that made the games great in the first place.

All of the existing maps have been revamped as well, with updated textures and models, new objectives, and fun little Easter eggs to find as you play. In addition to create-a-skater, and the original cast of pro skaters, there are new additions as well, like Andy Anderson, Bam Margera, and even Doom Guy from Doom. There are even remixed soundtracks with both classic tracks and new songs that fit the THPS vibe.

After beating the career mode, there’s a surprising amount of replayability here, with tons of extra challenges and achievements to complete. I sunk countless hours in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 working on the “Get There” challenges, trying to perform precise combinations of tricks and gaps on each map. I’ve already worked my way through the regular and pro goals for each map in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, and I’m slowly chiseling away at the hardest challenges in the game, which ask for combos in the millions of points.

Tony Gilroy Is Very Sad at How Relevant ‘Andor’ Has Become

by admin August 21, 2025

When Tony Gilroy began his Andor journey, his original pitch was deemed “pretty mad and undoable” by Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the showrunner revealed how that initial take would later get revisited after Lucasfilm gave it some thought.

“They came back to me and said, ‘We looked at this memo from a year and a half ago, and it makes a lot more sense to us now,’” he recalled. That, of course, led to a series expanding on the very foundation that Star Wars creator George Lucas had in mind when he began the beloved saga: Space Nazis are bad, and the rebellion is coming.

Around the time award nominations were announced for the show’s critically acclaimed second season, real-world headlines eerily mirrored events seen in Andor. In particular, a scene in the Emmy-nominated episode “Welcome to the Rebellion,” which depicts a Ghorman senator being carted off by stormtroopers as he says, “My people today and yours tomorrow; remember Ghorman!” struck a very timely nerve.

It’s a devastating series of events that’s not lost on Gilroy. “When I started on the show, the parallels between what was happening in the world and what was happening in the galaxy and the Empire—those were already obvious.” He explained that his inspiration came from a love of history and using that to embed the seeds of how totalitarianism has taken root in Star Wars.

“But over the six years we’ve been doing the show, that little monster got on its feet and learned how to run,” he said. “When [U.S. Senator for California Alex Padilla] was pulled out of the ICE meeting, like in the episode about the Ghorman senator being pulled out, there was a big text chain in our group like, ‘Oh my God. It looked like the show.’ It’s very sad for us how much it rhymes.”

While we continue to live in unprecedented times, the filmmaker notes that Andor feels like something he can’t see himself doing again. It’s disappointing, but as the state of the entertainment industry continues to evolve, it makes sense.

“For five and a half years, every single day of my life, I had a maximally imaginative involvement that was never complete—writing, designing, music, casting, all of it,” Gilroy said of the pandemic-era-born production. “Every demand on your imagination that could ever be asked was screaming for your attention. That’s a pretty heady place to live. I grew to love it. But I can’t imagine that I would ever be that fully engaged again,” he concluded, but we hold out hope the vast galaxy makes space for his return; we need these stories now more than ever.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 Standard And Collector’s Editions Get Great Discounts

by admin August 20, 2025

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 has received its first major discount since launching last month. You can pick up the remakes of the classic arcade skateboarding games for $35 (was $50) at Amazon or Walmart. Both retailers have this deal for all five console platforms: PS5, PS4, Switch, Switch 2, and Xbox. PlayStation gamers can also save big on the THPS 3 + 4 Collector’s Edition, which comes with a Birdhouse skateboard deck and a bunch of in-game content.

THPS 3 + 4 Standard Edition — $35 ($50)

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 Collector’s Edition is discounted to $104 (was $130) for PS5 at Amazon and Walmart. If you’re lucky, Amazon will offer you an additional 30% off. The coupon offer is only available in select regions, including the Midwest. If you’re eligible, you’ll see a coupon box below the price. Check the box to slash $31.20 from the sale price at checkout. With the extra coupon applied, you’ll wind up paying just $72.79 for the Collector’s Edition.

$35 (was $50) for PS5, PS4, Switch 1/2, Xbox

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 has significantly overhauled graphics, enhanced gameplay mechanics, new levels, an expanded roster of skaters, and fresh music. Just like the remakes of the first two games, the skateboarding mechanics are superb. The moment-to-moment gameplay is extremely satisfying–the excellent soundtrack helps–and the new levels are well-designed.

All that said, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4’s original career mode is sorely missed. Developer Iron Galaxy Studios removed the free-roaming structure and replaced it with the classic two-minute runs found in the first three games. The new version of THPS 4 is good in its own right, but it’s not the game you remember.

The remake collection earned an 8/10 in GameSpot’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 review.

Heads up for Nintendo players: The Switch version comes with a game card but requires a download; the Switch 2 version is a download code inside a box. Activision isn’t offering an upgrade path from Switch to Switch 2.

If Amazon and Walmart sell out of this deal, Best Buy and Target are offering $10 discounts on the standard edition.

$104 (was $130) | $72.79 for select Amazon customers

The full-size Birdhouse skate deck is limited edition and only available in the Collector’s Edition. Birdhouse is Tony Hawk’s official skateboard brand, making this a cool collectible item for fans.

You’ll also get all of the in-game DLC from the $70 Digital Deluxe Edition. Most notably, you’ll get two characters from the Doom franchise as playable skaters: Doom Slayer and Revenant. Each skater has unique secret moves. Along with the Doom characters, this edition includes Doom-themed gear for Create-a-Skater. Here’s a list of all of the in-game extras:

  • Doom Slayer playable skater
  • Revenant playable skater
  • Unmaykr Hoverboard
  • 5 Doom-themed skate decks
  • 5 Doom-themed apparel items
  • Wireframe Tony Shader
  • Additional in-game music

Only the PS5 edition is on sale at Amazon and Walmart, but you can still get the Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X Collector’s Editions for $130.

Everything included in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 Collector’s Edition

Denshattack! is a blend of Tony Hawk, trains and shonen anime

by admin August 19, 2025

Denshattack! is what happens when Tony Hawk trades in his skateboard for a high-speed Japanese train. Yes, you read that correctly.

Denshattack! is the latest game from Barcelona indie studio Undercoders, and it’s a delirious, high-speed action experience complete with flow states, a banging original soundtrack, flamboyant characters and coming-of-age drama. Players attempt to keep their train moving while jumping, wall riding, spinning, landing tricks and nailing combos. Between the rail-hopping action, there’s a fully voice-acted story (in English and Japanese) about overcoming oppression and finding your true friends. It’s a wacky mix of ideas, but it all comes together in a Jet Set Radio type of world that looks like a real thrill.

Undercoders is based in Spain, but the studio founders have spent a lot of time backpacking through Japan, visiting the trains specifically. In a virtual briefing ahead of Denshattack!‘s reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, director David Jaumandreu and his team couldn’t stop giggling about how much they loved trains, and it was all fairly adorable.

Denshattack! is due out in early 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and it’ll be available day-one on Game Pass. It features music from lead composer Tee Lopes, who’s best known for Sonic Mania, Sonic Frontiers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, and additional artists from video game music label Kid Katana will contribute to the soundtrack.
