by admin September 24, 2025

Today, Annapurna Interactive revealed D-topia, People of Note, and Demi and the Fractured Dream at Tokyo Game Show 2025.

Today, Annapurna Interactive, the acclaimed publisher known for titles such as Stray and Outer Wilds, revealed three new games during their digital showcase: D-topia, a puzzle-adventure game from Marumittu Games, People of Note, a turn-base RPG musical from Iridium Studios, and Demi and the Fractured Dream, an action-adventure game from Yarn Owl. “Annapurna Interactive is making its debut at this year’s Tokyo Game Show and we couldn’t imagine a better way to participate in this iconic event than by showcasing three great new titles from amazing indie studios,” said Leanne Loombe, Head of Games at Annapurna Interactive. “From the wonderful puzzle adventure D-topia, to the catchy, innovative turn-based musical RPG People of Note, and a beautiful love letter to the classic action-adventure genre with Demi and the Fractured Dream, these games embody our vision of supporting world-class developers who are pushing the boundaries of artist story telling.”

These titles will be playable for the first time at Tokyo Game Show 2025 in the Annapurna Interactive booth, located at Hall 6, 06-C01 at Makuhari Messe from Thursday September 25, 2025 – Sunday September 28, 2025. 28 years after the original game, Final Fantasy Tactics could get “sequels and new titles” if The Ivalice Chronicles sells well enough, teases director

by admin September 8, 2025

A sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics could be on the cards if the forthcoming remake sells well, its director has teased.

The PS1 tactical RPG was first released in 1997, and while it established the world of Ivalice that reappeared in subsequent games, it never received a direct sequel. Square Enix also released the Final Fantasy Tactics Advance games on GBA and DS, though the second of these was back in 2007.

“If The Ivalice Chronicles can do well, that’s good for the fans, they can enjoy it. But, at the same time, it shows the business viability of the strategy RPG genre,” Kazutoyo Maehiro, director of the remake told Inverse. “So that could potentially open the door for doing something with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance or A2, or maybe even sequels and new titles as well. I think I speak for everyone who’s worked on the original Final Fantasy Tactics, and is working on The Ivalice Chronicles as well – we’d really like to see that happen.”

Final Fantasy Tactics is one of the most beloved entries in the series, praised for its mature, political storytelling. Fans have long-wanted a new Tactics game, with this remake being rumoured for years.

Maehiro also commented on the popularity of the genre overall, alluding to other recent turn-based games.

“Of course, with the different hardware advances that have come, we see a lot more action games,” he said. “But I think, at the same time, that doesn’t really mean turn-based or strategy games went away. They’ve advanced with the hardware advances. I know we have titles that might start with P or have 33 in them, and fans really enjoy these games.

“But strategy RPGs are opportunities where people need to be able to think and strategise to excel at these games. And people do enjoy them overall – so these games have a place.”

Eurogamer’s Alex Donaldson recently went hands-on with Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, and discussed with the developers the need for a remake.

“Obviously, this game came out 28 years ago,” said co-director Ayako Yokoyama. “But the story is amazing, and I think that’s something we want people to experience. At the same time it is a strategy RPG, and maybe for more casual players that’s a little bit of a hurdle. It can even be hard for people who aren’t used to that type of game, but do like story-based RPGs.”

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles releases on 30th September across Xbox, PlayStation, Switch consoles, and PC (Steam).

New titles from Stonemaier Games include Wyrmspan expansion

by admin September 6, 2025

Stonemaier Games has some exciting new releases coming soon:

Wyrmspan Dragon Academy

As a budding dracologist, you open an academy for fledgling dragons to achieve their full potential! The expansion to Wyrmspan adds a wide variety of new dragons and caves, objective tiles, dragon guilds, and a new round tracker that presents you with an income choice when you pass for the round. Welcome to Wyrmspan: Dragon Academy, designed by Connie Vogelmann and illustrated by Clémentine Campardou!

Tokaido Duo

Welcome, travelers, to the Japanese island of Shikoku! Tokaido Duo (designed by Antoine Bauza and illustrated by Naïade) is a standalone game inspired by Tokaido but featuring completely new mechanisms. 1-2 players use a quick dice draft each turn to steer three unique characters on different tracks around the smallest of Japan’s main islands.
The Stonemaier Games version of Tokaido Duo features character guides for each player and an Automa solo mode (which is both included in the game and available separately for those who already own Tokaido Duo).

Smitten 2

Smitten 2 is a cooperative micro-game for 1-2 players. The 9 new cards in this standalone sequel are designed by Ryan S. Davis. In Smitten 2, players work cooperatively with limited information/communication to complete two identical 3×3 grids of cards, each inspired by Stonemaier games released since the original Smitten and illustrated by The Mico. There are multiple difficulty levels and separate modes for solo and 2-player games.
