Kill Bill Returns To Theaters As One Big 4 Hour Movie

by admin October 2, 2025

Two of director Quentin Tarantino’s most popular and successful movies, Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Kill Bill Vol. 2, are merging back into one large 4-hour movie as first envisioned. This longer, uncut version will arrive in theaters nationwide in December with 70mm and 35mm showings in some select locations.

On October 1, Lionsgate and Tarantino announced plans to combine both volumes of Kill Bill into one large movie. Technically, the director behind Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained has shown a version of Kill Bill Vol 1 and Vol 2 edited together at past events. But the Whole Bloody Affair will be the first time that general audiences around the country will get a chance to see the two action-packed revenge movies starring Uma Thurman like this.

“I wrote and directed it as one movie — and I’m so glad to give the fans the chance to see it as one movie,” said Tarantino. “The best way to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is at a movie theater in glorious 70mm or 35mm. Blood and guts on a big screen in all its glory!”

The Whole Bloody Affair arrives in theaters over 22 years after Kill Bill Vol. 1 was first released in 2003. That gory martial arts movie told the first half of the tale of Thurman’s Bride, who seeks revenge after a group of assassins ambushes her wedding and tries to kill her. Originally, Vol. 1 ended with a cliffhanger ending that was resolved in Kill Bill Vol. 2, released the following year in 2004. And that movie started with a recap of what happened in the first film. Both the recap and the cliffhanger have been removed from this version to create a more seamless one-film experience. This new version also includes a new seven-minute animated sequence.

Tarantino’s Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair arrives in theaters on December 5. It has a runtime of around 4 hours and 18 minutes.

The Whole Bloody Affair’ Is Coming to Theaters Everywhere This Year

by admin October 2, 2025

For the past decade, the only place to see Quentin Tarantino‘s ultimate version of Kill Bill was in one of Tarantino’s own movie theaters. That is now changing. In huge, surprising news for film nerds everywhere, Lionsgate just announced it will release Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair in theaters nationwide on December 5.

“I wrote and directed it as one movie—and I’m so glad to give the fans the chance to see it as one movie,” Tarantino said in a press release. “The best way to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is at a movie theater in glorious 70mm or 35mm. Blood and guts on a big screen in all its glory!”

This version of the film will be different from the one that recently played at the Vista Theater in Los Angeles, CA, too. It will include “a never-before-seen, 7.5-minute animated sequence,” which we assume is in addition to the one already in the film focusing on O-Ren Ishii, played by Lucy Liu.

Originally released as two films, Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Kill Bill: Volume 2, The Whole Bloody Affair combines all of that with a few nips and tucks to make it more cohesive. It runs over 250 minutes with an intermission and is a stunning work of cinema. In our mind, it’s Tarantino’s best film.

That it’s getting this wide release is something of a shock, though. In a recent interview, Tarantino spoke about why he was leaning towards only playing the film at his own movie theaters and never releasing it on Blu-ray. But, it seems, this is a compromise that allows people to see it in the best way imaginable but then also doesn’t force him to release it on physical media. You still have to see it in a theater.

There’s no word on when fans might be able to buy tickets or just how wide this release will be. All the press release says is that “select presentations of the release will be in 70mm and 35mm, and it is anticipated that the film will play in all major markets.” So keep an eye on your local theaters for this, potentially, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

‘GoldenEye’ is Coming Back to Theaters Next Week

by admin September 29, 2025

We’re not getting a new James Bond movie for a while, but at least we can see an old one in theaters pretty soon. On Friday, October 3, GoldenEye will play in select theaters worldwide, and exclusively at Alama Drafthouse for U.S. audiences.

The re-release serves two purposes: first, October 5 is James Bond Day—Dr. No, the first film in the series premiered on that day in 1962—and GoldenEye itself will turn 30 years old in November. (Beyond the deisgnated holiday, its October date may also be due to November having a stacked movie calendar.) The 1995 film was several firsts for the franchise: it’s Pierce Brosnan’s first Bond movie, the debut of Judi Dench as M, and the first entry to use CGI and not borrow story elements from Ian Fleming’s novels.

To celebrate James Bond Day, GOLDENEYE returns to the big screen worldwide from Friday 3 October in 4K, marking thirty years since the film’s release. More information and tickets on https://t.co/1JH3zpzGuv. pic.twitter.com/TeXW7MccS5

GoldenEye got a strong reception at release and made $356.4 million, surpassing the 1980s James Bond films and becoming the fourth highest-grossing movie of 1995. It’s also considered one of the best Bond movies and became the basis for the hit Nintendo 64 game from Rare in 1997, which showed first-person shooters were viable for consoles. In 2022, the game was re-released on Xbox Series X|S (via Game Pass) and Nintendo Switch (via Nintendo Classsics).

While U.S. viewers can see GoldenEye at Drafthouse, we’ve linked the specific theaters for the UK (and two more here and here), Poland, Sweden, and Mexico.

‘Trick ‘r Treat’ is Coming Back to Theaters Next Month

by admin September 15, 2025

After finally hitting the big screen for everyone for the first time a few years ago, Trick r’ Treat will be back in theaters October 14 and 16.

According to a press release from Fathom Entertainment, the horror flick will get a 4K restoration and a little bonus in the form of a 4K restoration for director Mike Dougherty’s Season’s Greetings short. The 1996 video is an origin for the final film and will be part of a look back by Dougherty through several Halloween-specific memories that led to the creation of the film’s rule-breaking trick-or-treater, Sam.

“Horror fans have long been thirsting for Trick ‘r Treat to take its rightful place back on the big screen and in cinemas nationwide,” said Fathom’s Tom Lucas. “We’re thrilled to bring this classic horror film back in theaters in sparkling 4K with our partners just in time for Halloween. A stellar cast helps make Trick ‘r Treat a frightening cinematic experience fans will not want to miss!”

First shown at film festivals in 2007, Trick ‘r Treat has been a cult classic since it hit DVDs back in 2009. Its generally positive reception has led to some rumblings of Dougherty by a sequel, but the Hollywood strikes and his work on the Monsterverse movies have made progress on it slow. Until that day comes, rewatching the original is still a fine spooky season tradition—especially on the big screen.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Hits Theaters In April

by admin September 15, 2025

Nintendo has announced The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, a sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie that hit theaters in 2023, and it’s coming to the silver screen in April and will also be made by Illumination.

Shigeru Miyamoto opened today’s Nintendo Direct with a look at Super Mario Bros. for its 40th anniversary, and he revealed The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will be the main attraction of the celebration. Alongside this news, we learned that Brian Taylor will be returning to compose the score, and that various actors, including Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, Charlie Day, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kevin Michael Richardson, are returning to play Mario, Princess Peach, Bowser, Luigi, Toad, and Kamek, respectively.

We didn’t receive any new casting updates, but considering this movie is taking Mario to space, we’ll likely be hear about casting for characters like Rosalina and a Luma, perhaps.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie hits theaters in April 2026.

In the meantime, read Game Informer’s review of The Super Mario Bros. movie, and then read Game Informer’s interview with Shigeru Miyamoto and Koji Kondo about the film.

AMC Hopes Its New Slash Pass Lures Horror Fans Into Theaters

by admin September 8, 2025

This weekend’s The Conjuring: Last Rites kicks off fall’s slate of horror movies, and AMC Theaters wants to use the occasion to get more butts in seats. Enter, the Slash Pass.

Beginning with Last Rites, theatergoers can use the Pass to see six participating horror movies, or do different combinations like seeing one of the specific movies with five of their friends. Horror movies tend to do pretty well financially, something AMC’s senior marketing VP Ellen Copaken highlighted in the press release: “Horror has quickly become one of our most popular genres, especially among Gen Z audiences, who know [they’re] best enjoyed in the comfortable, communal environment of our theatres.”

For those interested, the Slash Pass will cost you $66.66 and last through the remainder of 2025. Films under its purview include next week’s The Long Walk, along with Him on September 19, October 17’s Black Phone 2 and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 on December 5. It can also be applied toward classic horror movies coming back to AMC for its “Thrills & Chills” banner. That selection of films includes the original Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Scream, Candyman, and Terrifier.

If any of this sounds up your scary alley, you can read the full selection of films and the Slash Pass’ rules here.

The new Street Fighter movie lands in theaters next October

by admin September 5, 2025

The new Street Fighter movie has been given a release date of October 16, 2026. Kitao Sakurai is directing the project and a few generic plot details have been disclosed. The story will be set in 1993, a nod to the year Street Fighter II was released in arcades, and will have familiar characters from the game uncovering “a deadly conspiracy” in the midst of all their street fighting.

It seems safe to expect a fair bit of camp in a Street Fighter project, and that bears out in some of the casting. Andrew Koji will play Ryu; he’s had several past action roles such as Bullet Train and TV series Warrior, so that feels like a solid choice. Noah Centineo is taking a break from his work in Netflix rom-coms (notably To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and its sequels) to play Ken. Newcomer Callina Liang, who only has a few credits to date, will play Chun-li. David Dastmalchian will be filling the great Raul Julia’s shoes (and oversized hat) as M. Bison.

Then things really get wacky. Curtis Jackson (who you know as rapper 50 Cent) is playing Balrog and country artist Orville Peck is Vega. Jason Momoa has been cast as Blanka, while WWE wrestler Cody Rhodes has even been chosen to play Guile. This could be absolute gold or absolute trash or possibly both at the same time.
