First Dogecoin ETF ‘Coming Soon’: REX-Osprey Teases Launch

by admin September 5, 2025

REX Shares says it’s preparing to list what it calls the first US Dogecoin ETF, teasing the product on X even as multiple spot DOGE ETF applications remain pending at the Securities and Exchange Commission. Via X, REX Shares wrote on Wednesday: “The REX-Osprey™ DOGE ETF, DOJE, is coming soon! DOJE will be the first ETF to deliver investors exposure to the performance of the iconic memecoin, Dogecoin. From REX-Osprey™, the team behind $SSK, the first SOL + Staking ETF.”

The product traces back to a January 21, 2025 SEC filing for a suite of crypto funds under the ETF Opportunities Trust, which included a REX-Osprey DOGE ETF alongside BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, BONK and TRUMP-token funds. In that registration, the DOGE fund’s mandate is explicit: it “seeks investment results, before fees and expenses, that correspond to the performance of Dogecoin.”

Can REX-Osprey Launch Their Dogecoin ETF First?

The apparent paradox—how REX can “launch” a DOGE ETF while spot Dogecoin ETPs are still in the SEC queue—comes down to structure. Most DOGE proposals on file are commodity-based grantor trusts or similar vehicles that require an exchange rule change under the Securities Exchange Act (a so-called 19b-4) before they can list.

Bitwise, for example, filed to list a Dogecoin ETF on NYSE Arca through that pathway, and Nasdaq has a pending proposal to list the 21Shares Dogecoin ETF. By contrast, REX’s DOGE product sits inside a 1940-Act open-end ETF trust, which registers under the Investment Company Act via a post-effective amendment (Form 485(a)) and, if the registration goes effective and an exchange accepts the listing under its generic ETF standards, can come to market without waiting on a bespoke 19b-4 order.

That is the same playbook REX and Osprey used to bring their Solana + Staking ETF to market in July. Basically, the structure is similar to how futures ETFs work.

The January prospectus also explains how exposure works. The DOGE fund will invest “at least 80%” of assets in Dogecoin or instruments providing DOGE exposure and may use “derivatives,” including futures and swaps. Like REX-Osprey’s other single-coin funds, it relies on a wholly owned Cayman subsidiary—the “REX-Osprey DOGE (Cayman) Portfolio S.P.”—to hold certain positions; the parent ETF’s investment in that sub is capped at 25% of total assets to preserve regulated investment company (RIC) tax treatment.

In plain terms, it’s a ‘40-Act ETF that aims to mirror DOGE’s price, using a mix of direct exposure (including via the Cayman sub) and, where available, derivatives.

Meanwhile, the “traditional” spot DOGE race is active but unresolved. NYSE Arca’s filing for a Bitwise Dogecoin ETF and Nasdaq’s proposal for a 21Shares Dogecoin ETF are both on the public docket, and Grayscale submitted an S-1 to list a Dogecoin fund in mid-August. Those products would be commodity ETPs requiring an exchange rule change before trading can begin—hence the longer timeline.

Notably, there is also a clear precedent for REX finding a regulatory niche: on July 2, 2025, the REX-Osprey Solana + Staking ETF (ticker SSK) listed on Cboe as a ‘40-Act fund that passes through native staking rewards to shareholders. Cboe’s own listing page describes it succinctly: the fund seeks the performance of Solana “plus staking rewards associated with the Reference Asset.”

REX’s release heralded it as “the first US-listed ETF to give investors exposure to Solana… plus staking rewards” in brokerage accounts. That was possible because the assets and mechanics fit within a ‘40-Act ETF framework augmented by a Cayman subsidiary and—in SSK’s early months—a C-corp tax wrapper that has since been converted to RIC status.

The parallels—up to a point—are real. REX is again using the ‘40-Act ETF chassis, the ETF Opportunities Trust umbrella and Cayman subs to pursue single-coin exposure without waiting for a new 19b-4 approval. But an important difference is technical and conclusive: Dogecoin is a proof-of-work cryptocurrency (merged-mined with Litecoin), so there is no native staking yield to pass through.

As for timing and status, REX’s X post is a teaser, not a notice of effectiveness. The January 21 filing is a subject-to-completion prospectus; the SEC must allow the registration to go effective, and an exchange must accept the listing.

Separately, the SEC is also weighing “generic” listing standards for commodity- and crypto-based ETPs—rules that, if adopted, could streamline new crypto listings generally—though those proposals are independent of REX’s ‘40-Act path. In short, REX can plausibly be first precisely because it isn’t waiting on a DOGE-specific 19b-4 approval, but the fund still needs its registration to clear and a listing venue to post a trading date.

At press time, DOGE traded at $0.2165.

Bethesda teases Starfield space travel update after datamined leak

by admin August 29, 2025

Bethesda has teased an upcoming update for Starfield meant to improve space travel, following a recent bit of data mining from the community that discovered hints of an overhauled “cruise mode”.

Now, a hasty patch was uploaded to remove hints of the cruise mode from the files, but since then Bethesda have come forward with its hands up and admitted that yes, cruise mode is real and is on the way somewhat soon.

This came out via a recent developer spotlight on Tim Lamb, a senior producer at Bethesda. In this video Lamb states: “We have some exciting things in development, including free updates and player-requested features, as well as a new DLC story.”

Starfield is packed full of Easter Eggs, if you didn’t know.Watch on YouTube

Lamb continued: “I can’t share all the details yet, but part of the team is focusing on space gameplay to make the journeys more rewarding. We’re also adding new game systems and some smaller surprises. Plus, there’s some exciting content coming from our Verified Creators.”

This little tease also comes in the wake of a Steam post promising exciting updates coming to Starfield later this year. With the game’s absence from Gamescom this year this has led to some confusion, but it looks like something big is on the horizon for Bethesda’s Sci-Fi RPG.

This is a news-in-brief story. This is part of our vision to bring you all the big news as part of a daily live report.

‘100 Nights of Hero’ Teases a Cheeky Medieval Fantasy

by admin August 25, 2025

Released in 2016, Isabel Greenberg’s graphic novel The One Hundred Nights of Hero earned a devoted following for its witty twist on The Arabian Nights, imagining a married woman and her beloved maid turning to the power of storytelling to protect the wife from her husband’s creepy wager. Now the tale is coming to the big screen with an all-star cast—and today’s teaser gives us our first look at its medieval folklore-inspired world.

As the trailer shows, Deadpool & Wolverine‘s Emma Corrin (as the maid, Hero), Longlegs‘ Maika Monroe (as the wife, Cherry), and Masters of the Universe‘s Nicholas Galitzine (as the wife’s determined suitor) lead a cast that also includes Amir Al-Masry, Charlie XCX, Richard E. Grant, and Felicity Jones.

Here’s the official synopsis: “When her neglectful husband departs after placing a secret wager to test her fidelity, Cherry (Monroe) and her sharp-witted maid, Hero (Corrin), must fend off a dangerously seductive visitor: Manfred (Galitzine).”

There are almost Yorgos Lanthimos vibes in the blend of period setting, fantasy, and what looks like an offbeat and modern sense of humor; the costumes are also spectacular. It’s not clear from this first teaser if the movie will hew to the novel’s storytelling device, but you have to imagine some of the characters we just see for an instant (Felicity Jones in a long silver wig; Charlie XCX, strumming a very unusual-looking guitar) may be characters in Hero’s carefully crafted tales.

Written and directed by Julia Jackman, 100 Nights of Hero hits theaters December 5.

Genshin Impact’s IRL event at gamescom teases Nod-Krai, Version 6.0, and yet another handsome anime man you’d better start saving your Primogems for

by admin August 21, 2025

Genshin Impact’s big annual update is not far off. Thanks to this year’s gamescom, we’ve got our first look at one of the new characters joining the game’s roster with the upcoming expansion: Flins, the latest in Genshin’s long line of eligible-and-they-know-it husbandos — and if you’re a longtime player, you’ve probably been expecting him.

The other highlight of the next version, of course, is the new Nod-Krai region, which is something those in attendance at the show will get to experience first-hand.

Genshin Impact is hosting an offline experience at its booth at gamescom to show off the new Nod-Krai region. We sadly can’t experience that from the comfort of our homes, but this fresh look at Flins is nothing to scoff at.

Flins is a warrior from the Lightkeepers, a faction that hails from Nod-Krai, and he’s part of a new story chapter that will kick off with the game’s annual major version update. Today’s trailer teases a bit of that narrative, too. Version 6.0 is set to arrive in September, which is when we’ll be able to get our hands on all that.

There’s clearly a lot more that’s being kept under wraps, but we won’t have to wait too long to learn all remaining details. The next Genshin Impact livestream will be taking place on the last Friday of the month, and that’s when all will be revealed.

In case you missed it, Genshin Impact’s developer recently announced plans to drop support for PS4, and raise system requirements on PC and mobile. Not all of these changes will take place at once, but you should probably prepare for that day if your device is affected.

God of War Director Teases Reveal Of Next Game He’s Been Working On

by admin August 18, 2025

PlayStation fans have been waiting to hear what’s next from Sony’s God of War studio Santa Monica amid rumors that the 2018 game’s director, Cory Barlog, is busy creating a new IP. The veteran developer appears to have finally provided them with their first official details, albeit in the strangest way possible: his Facebook account.

“I’d like to share a little bit about our new project,” Barlog wrote on Facebook, as first reported by by Game Informer. “I’m incredibly proud of what the team at Santa Monica Studio has been accomplishing. It’s a technically ambitious project, something that’s not easy to achieve. This is a new IP we’ve been working on for years, and if all goes well, we’re planning to show it to you later this year. I couldn’t be more excited.”

While many have shared doubts about the veracity of the post, it’s been liked on the social media platform by people like God of War composer Bear McCreary and former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida. Sony did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

As rumors have swirled about what exactly Santa Monica is making, Bloomberg‘s Jason Schreier reported earlier this year that, contrary to popular speculation, the studio was not making a sci-fi game. He was more cryptic on whether it’s related to God of War or not. “It’s not a new IP but it might feel like one,” he wrote. “Maybe that’s why people are confused.”

This led some fans to speculate if the upcoming game could be a God of War spin-off that is so different from the existing third-person action franchise it’s being treated internally as a new IP. It’s unclear right now how many projects Santa Monica has going at the same time, with rumored God of War set in Greece reportedly delayed and an online spin-off at fellow PlayStation studio Bluepoint reportedly canceled earlier this year.

One things for sure: the new game’s announcement, whatever it ends up being, is something PS5 super fans have been desperate for as this console generation drags on without many first-party single-player blockbusters to point to. If Barlog’s next game does get announced this year, presumably at the Game Awards, it’ll suggest the PS5 is shaping up to have a strong last few years when it comes to Sony-made exclusives.
