Chains of Lukomoyre is a Slavic folklore, post-WW1 take on the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice

by admin June 22, 2025

I know this is a PC games focused outlet, but I’d like to present to you the most PS3 coded game I’ve seen in a long while: Chains of Lukomoyre. Now, to be clear I mean this in the most loving of ways possible. That era of video games obviously set the foundations for the rinse and repeat we see in a lot of triple-A games these days, but there was still the occasional oddity out there that just had the right vibe. And I think Chains of Lukomoyre fits that vibe quite well.

In terms of plot, the game features a Slavic folklore inspired setting in an alternate post-WW1 world where “Allied experiments shattered reality itself.” I’m no fan of war, but I certainly am a fan of reality shattering experiments. You play as a soldier on a quest to find a lost love, meeting all sorts of weird creatures along the way in a story that’s described as a “reimagining of Orpheus and Eurydice through the lens of war, memory, and myth.” There’s a giant black cat, a hut with chicken legs, a creepy nesting doll, lots of good stuff.

Watch on YouTube

It’s a third-person shooter too, and while the announcement trailer does show off some gameplay, it doesn’t show a huge amount of what you’re doing. The thing that really makes me say “oh, it’s a PS3 game” is the presence of quick-time events, a staple of the console honestly. This isn’t particularly exciting because nobody really likes quick-time events, it’s really the mixture of Slavic folklore and wartime aesthetics that’s luring me in. I’ve had enough of western fairytales, it’s about time other cultures get their time to shine.

In any case, as of now Chains of Lukomoyre doesn’t have a release date in sight, but you can at least wishlist it on Steam in the meantime.

Pump.fun’s quiet return to X offers no clarity, just crypto’s latest cautionary tale

by admin June 17, 2025

Pump.fun’s reappearance on X is dramatic: sudden suspension, rampant theories, then a quiet return in less than 24 hours. No answers, just a more paranoid market left picking up the pieces.

On June 16, without warning or explanation, the official X account for Pump.fun, the Solana-based memecoin launchpad, was abruptly taken offline. Shortly after, the personal handle of co-founder Alon Cohen (@a1lon9) also vanished.

The unexpected purge didn’t stop there. Several other accounts tied to high-profile token platforms, including GMGN, Bloom Trading, and ElizaOS, were swept up in what appeared to many as a coordinated crackdown, raising more questions than answers.

Was this X enforcing new policies? A shadowban by overzealous moderators? Or, more ominously, the first sign of regulatory pressure on Solana’s hyperactive memecoin ecosystem?

Then, just as suddenly, the accounts were restored. X offered no justification for either decision, leaving traders to wonder whether the episode was a glitch, a warning, or pure bureaucratic randomness.

Keen users quickly noted Pump.fun’s unceremonious comeback on X and raised concerns about what might be happening behind the scenes.

https://t.co/eZhMtacwIT is back and I’m left to wonder what’s really going on in the crypto space are all the recent happenings mere coincidences or is there a back story somewhere?

Well we keep our eyes primed for more updates, and hope to be on the winning team. https://t.co/pvjbEM7KM6

A billion-dollar memecoin moment under fire

The social media blackout came just as Pump.fun was gearing up for a massive token offering, rumored to target a valuation near $1 billion. The reported plan drew both attention and backlash, as Pump.fun’s meteoric rise in 2024–25 made it a poster child for rapid-fire memecoin activity.

Founded in January 2024 by Alon Cohen and his team, the platform has hosted more than six million token launches and generated over $350 million in annual revenue.

But this growth hasn’t come without scrutiny. In November, Pump.fun was forced to disable its livestream feature after users exploited it to broadcast everything from violent threats to explicit content.

That incident exposed the darker side of memecoin culture and how quickly unregulated platforms can spiral into chaos. Now, with its rumored $1 billion token sale drawing mainstream attention, regulators appear to be taking notice.

While no agency has publicly claimed responsibility for the X suspensions, the U.S. SEC has been increasingly vocal about cracking down on what it sees as unregistered securities offerings, a category that could easily include memecoin launchpads.

What makes this episode particularly troubling for crypto is how it exposes the industry’s dependence on platforms it doesn’t control. Pump.fun’s website continued operating during the suspension, but how long can any platform thrive when its primary marketing channel can vanish overnight?

The takeaway is in black and white. In the crypto industry’s ongoing battle between innovation and regulation, social media platforms have become the new battleground. And as Pump.fun’s rollercoaster week shows, the rules of engagement are being written in real time, with billions of dollars hanging in the balance.

The Trolley Solution is a moral quandary that suddenly turns into a tragically touching tale of tram love

by admin June 14, 2025

There aren’t many games lately which have compelled me to do a tweet, or skeet, or whatever you prefer to call ejaculating one’s thoughts out onto the socials. The Trolley Solution’s Steam Next Fest demo not only did that, it convinced me to post a tweet I didn’t even write.

It’s a game from indie dev byDanDans that starts off as a series of moral quandaries, each inspired by philosopher Philippa Foot’s famous and now also thoroughly memed-to-death Trolley Problem. That being a thought experiment which forces you examine the ethics of either letting nature take its course to deliver one outcome that could cause harm to others, or actively intervening to cause another that might do the same in a different fashion. I didn’t go in expecting to become enraptured in what I can only describe as a tragic rail romance.

At first, things were as I’d anticipated. Upon firing the game up, you’re transported to a main menu that fittingly sees you move a tram along some tracks to different stations, each of which takes you to a minigame offering some fresh twist on the classic Trolley Problem.

Sometimes you’re choosing whether to let five people tied to one track die, or flick a lever that’ll doom a person on another track instead. In one case, your girlfriend and best friend are on the two tracks, having cheated together without the friend knowing it was your partner they were engaging in hanky-panky with. Also, the friend has a terminal disease and will die in a month anyway.

You know, the standard stuff very smart people think about while washing their pits in the shower. One makes you choose between virtual people dying, and the game asking for permission to post a very controversial tweet via your very real Twitter account, assuming you’ve not abandoned the Musk platform because using carrier pigeons is far superior.

Watch on YouTube

Then, not long after a game based around picking which track didn’t have a cat hiding under the giant plastic cup perched on it, I pulled into a station dubbed “Mai tomori sama romansu”. It soon became apparent this was not your standard tram stop.

I found myself flung headlong into a visual novel-style story about a schoolgirl named Tameko, her best mate Tomadochi, and their mortal enemy, a superficial and popular former friend named Teki. Added to this triple T triangle is a Trolley, because this still is The Trolley Solution, lest you forget. I’ll not spoil what happens in this short multiple-choice and marvellously meta mirage amid the funny puzzling, save for one thing.

Tameko falls, to a degree of your choosing, in love with a tram. He goes by Trolley-San and keep pulling up and saying “Ding Ding” in what I can only assume by Tameko’s reactions to be an incredibly suave and seductive fashion. This and all the rest of the game – and I can’t emphasise this enough, are a right hoot, a great laugh, and a throaty chuckle.

So, if you find yourself at the Steam Next Fest intersection and aren’t sure which direction to pull the big games lever, I can thoroughly recommend yanking it The Trolley Solution’s way. Especially since the full thing’s set to come out in Q4 2025.

Critically acclaimed series A Plague Tale is getting a prequel in 2026, titled Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. Set 15 years before the events of the two Plague Tale games, players will follow Sophia in a much more action-oriented adventure.

PARIS – June 8, 2025 – Planned for release in 2026, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a prequel set 15 years before the events occurring in the A Plague Tale series. Dive into an original story blending combat, myth and fate with a brand-new take on the universe created by Asobo Studio, pushing the franchise’s ambition even further. Watch the reveal trailer now for a look at the new adventure that awaits in the grounded and captivating world of A Plague Tale!

This announcement confirms the renewal of the partnership between Focus Entertainment Publishing and Asobo Studio, whose collaboration dates back to the birth of the multiple award-winning series.

“We wanted to expand and explore the world of A Plague Tale with a character – Sophia – that is very close to our heart, but within a much more action-oriented experience,” said David Dedeine, Chief Creative Officer at Asobo Studio. “This fresh approach comes with intuitive and rewarding combats, as well as a brand-new manifestation of the Macula, the ancient evil. Resonance embraces themes, places and eras that we had never explored before. Taking on this challenge was only possible with Focus Entertainment, who knows our world inside out and with whom we share common trust and ambition.”

“We are, once again, thrilled to work in collaboration with Asobo Studio. Our partnership proved, over the years, that we share a common passion and ambition for the franchise,” said John Bert, Managing Director at Focus Entertainment Publishing. “Expanding the world of A Plague Tale with Sophia, a character already close to our heart since Requiem, is exciting and we can’t wait to hear what our fans think! Blending myth and combat in this new opus promises to be a great opportunity for all to embark on a new adventure.”

A Resonance: Plague Tale Legacy accidentally leaks online

by admin June 8, 2025

A new A Plague Tale game is on the way: Resonance.

A teaser popped up prematurely on Focus Entertainment’s Threads account before it was quickly deleted… if not quite quickly enough for someone to grab a copy of it first and post it to reddit, of course.

Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy Reveal Teaser.Watch on YouTube

As for what it shows? Well, not much. At just 15 seconds long, you can blink and see it, but it’s officially called Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. It appears to show what may well be a prequel based on Sophia.

It’s slated to arrive in 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. It’s possible it’ll pop up again in this evening’s Xbox Games Showcase. Just try and feign surprise.

Need to catch up? Here’s everything that was announced at Summer Game Fest 2025, and here’s everything that happened at Sony’s June 2025 record-breaking State of Play.

How ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Made Sure at Least One Character Got a Genuinely Happy Ending

by admin May 29, 2025

In the first episode of the first season of The Handmaid’s Tale, viewers met Janine, played by Madeline Brewer. Like June, the main character played by Elisabeth Moss, she’s been abducted by Gilead and is now in the Red Center, where new handmaids are forced to learn their horrifying new duties. When Janine talks back, she’s hauled off for a biblical punishment: the loss of her eye. That set the tone for Janine’s harrowing journey throughout the series—but she never lost her spirit, and in the end, the show rewarded her with an ecstatically happy last moment.

Her missing eye—often, but not always, concealed with her trademark patch—was more or less the only constant for Janine over six seasons. After being the first handmaid in June’s group to give birth, she entertained fantasies of keeping her baby girl. Of course, that is not the way of Gilead, and Charlotte (Janine’s name for her daughter; her captors, Commander Putnam and his wife Naomi, called her Angela) was ripped from her arms, almost literally.

After that, she held different roles with varying levels of freedom—at one point she ended up in exile, shoveling toxic waste in the dreaded Colonies; at another, she survived a bombing after briefly escaping Gilead for Chicago. In the last seasons of The Handmaid’s Tale, we saw her assisting Aunt Lydia in the Red Center, building on a complicated relationship rooted in power, guilt, shared trauma, and the occasional attempt at kindness.

In season six, former handmaid Janine is forced into a different kind of sexual slavery, toiling at Jezebel’s, the brothel created for the pleasure of Gilead’s two-faced commanders. There, she encounters Angela’s new adoptive father: the grumpy but not-evil Commander Lawrence, who reluctantly married Naomi for reasons that are frankly too long to get into here. (It’s The Handmaid’s Tale—expect the worst!) He’s aware of Janine’s situation and brings one of the little girl’s drawings to her, an act of kindness that renews Janine’s hopes that one day she’ll get to see her again.

That situation feels ever-bleaker when Jezebel’s is destroyed and Janine is snatched up by a commander who’s taken a cruel interest in her. Eventually, though, her prolonged suffering finally ends when June kills the guy (stabs him in the eye, in fact), and after another brief yet awful stint in captivity, she’s freed from Gilead forever.

Best of all, though, as June and company are rushing to get her to safety, we see Aunt Lydia and Naomi appear. Incredibly, they’re bringing Angela/Charlotte to be with her mom, to live a life away from Gilead’s cruelty. Though The Handmaid’s Tale series finale ended with a lot of characters still at the mid-points on their journeys, that’s not the case for Janine. This is a real and true happy ending for her, at long last.

© Hulu

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Brewer was understandably thrilled that her character finally got her greatest wish. “I thought it was so beautiful. I’m so satisfied with the ending for Janine,” she said. “It could have gone a lot of different ways and it’s all she’s ever wanted.”

She continued. “I don’t think I really, truly hoped for anything because I couldn’t even imagine. That’s also not my job (laughs) [to write the show], but it’s the same reason why I never made too many decisions about Janine’s life before … So I didn’t want to make too many decisions. I wanted it in ways to surprise me. And it did … I’m just so proud of Janine for always being herself and not letting them take the fire away from her. And for being a good friend and a good mom and a good person.”

The show was often very bleak, but praise be—at least Janine finally triumphed in the end. All seasons of The Handmaid’s Tale are now available on Hulu.
