Bitcoin ETFs Now Hold 7% of All BTC Supply

by admin September 2, 2025

Bitcoin exchange-traded products (ETPs) now hold more than 1.47 million Bitcoin, amounting to 7% of the cryptocurrency’s maximum 21 million coin supply.

US-based exchange-traded funds for Bitcoin (BTC) have scooped up the largest share, with their holdings exceeding 1.29 million BTC held across all 11 funds as of Sunday, Aug. 31, according to data shared by X account HODL15Capital on Monday.

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) held the most out of any fund at 746,810 BTC, while the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) was the second largest with its holdings just under 199,500 BTC.

Global Bitcoin ETPs have added more than 170,000 BTC, worth approximately $18.7 billion, between Dec. 31, 2024, and Aug. 31, 2025.

Demand for Bitcoin ETPs seems to be slowing down, as global Bitcoin ETPs saw a net outflow of $301 million for the month of August, while Ethereum funds attracted inflows of $3.95 billion during the same period, CoinShares reported on Monday.

Bitcoin demand slows

The demand for Bitcoin is slowing down as crypto whales have rotated billions of dollars toward Ether (ETH).

On Monday, a Bitcoin whale sold 4,000 BTC for 96,859 Ether over the span of 12 hours. The whale now holds $3.8 billion worth of Ether.

Blockchain data platform Arkham reported on Wednesday that nine whales have collectively booked a profit in Bitcoin and have rotated into ETH, with their buys amounting to $456 million.

The downturn in Bitcoin comes at a time when September has historically been the weakest month for the asset, while the price of gold notches higher.

Another factor that is likely causing investors to save betting on Bitcoin is that as many as 92 crypto-related ETFs are pending with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, with some of the most-anticipated funds tracking Solana (SOL) and XRP (XRP) due for the regulators’ final decision in October.

Pseudonymous Bitcoin analyst PlanC said that Bitcoin’s path to $1 million might face hurdles.

“Instead, we just keep grinding slowly upward to $1,000,000 over the next seven years in a very boring and underwhelming way,” PlanC said.

Research firm Delphi Digital said that Bitcoin might rally and then crash after the Federal Reserve cuts interest rates, provided the asset increases in price beforehand; however, the firm said the price of Bitcoin will remain stable if it doesn’t garner much activity leading up to the Fed rate cut.

Bitcoin Post-Halving Top? Analyst Says BTC Demand Outpacing Supply Over 6x in 2025

by admin August 31, 2025

Bitcoin is holding steady around $108,716, according to CoinDesk Data, but behind the flat price action are signs of a potential breakout as both retail and institutions ramp up accumulation.

On Aug. 29, André Dragosch, European head of research at Bitwise, noted that corporate adoption of bitcoin has accelerated at a historic pace. He said that July and August alone saw the creation of 28 new bitcoin treasury companies and an increase of more than 140,000 BTC in aggregate corporate holdings.

That figure is nearly equivalent to the total amount of new bitcoin mined in a year (which is around 164,000 BTC), underscoring how demand from treasuries is soaking up supply faster than it is produced.

The accompanying Bitwise chart showed a steep upward curve, highlighting how companies are increasingly treating bitcoin as a reserve asset in the mold of Michael Saylors’ Strategy (MSTR).

Corporate treasuries added 140,600 BTC in July–August, per Bitwise (Bitwise/X)

Moments later, Dragosch addressed a popular narrative among analysts that bitcoin could “top out” in 2025 because of post-halving cycle patterns seen in earlier years. He argued that such thinking overlooks the scale of institutional demand today.

Institutional demand outpacing supply more than 6x in 2025, Bitwise data shows (Bitwise/X)

His chart showed that as of Aug. 29, 2025, institutional demand has absorbed over 690,000 BTC, compared with a new supply of just over 109,000 BTC, making demand roughly 6.3 times larger than supply.

While Dragosch described it as nearly seven times, the precise ratio still illustrates an extraordinary imbalance that challenges historical cycle comparisons. For investors, the implication is that halving-driven supply dynamics may matter less in the current era of institutional adoption.

Two days earlier, on Aug. 27, Dragosch pointed to retail buying as another driver. He said the rate of accumulation across all bitcoin wallet cohorts — from small holders to whales — had reached its highest level since April. In his words, investors appear to be “stacking relentlessly.”

The Bitwise chart attached showed sharp upward moves across wallet groups, suggesting that retail demand is lining up with institutional flows. Historically, synchronized accumulation across cohorts has often preceded major upside moves, making the current environment notable for bulls.

Despite the accumulation of data, bitcoin is little changed at $108,716 in the past 24 hours, according to CoinDesk Data, as markets await clearer catalysts.

Price Analysis Highlights

(All times are UTC)

  • According to CoinDesk Research’s technical analysis data model, between Aug. 30 at 15:00 and Aug. 31 at 14:00, BTC traded within a $2,150 range, fluctuating between $107,490 and $109,640.
  • Heavy buying support emerged near $107,800, where volumes exceeded daily averages, establishing a key short-term floor.
  • Resistance formed around $109,600, where repeated rejections indicated profit-taking pressure.
  • In the final 60 minutes of the analysis period, BTC swung from $109,250 to $108,700 before closing near $108,900, showing continued volatility but stable support levels.

Companies Absorb BTC at 4x Daily Miner Supply, Per River’s Research

by admin August 30, 2025

River says companies are taking in far more bitcoin each day than miners create.

The U.S.-based bitcoin financial services firm, which runs brokerage and mining operations and publishes research, released a Sankey-style flow infographic dated Aug. 25 in a post on X. In this layout, outflows are shown on the left, inflows on the right, and the thickness of each line represents the size of the net daily movement.

River’s Aug. 25 snapshot shows businesses absorbing about 1,755 BTC/day vs about 450 mined.

River defines “businesses” broadly. The category combines bitcoin treasury companies — firms such as Strategy that publicly hold BTC — with conventional companies that keep bitcoin on their balance sheets. Based on public filings, custodial address tagging and its own heuristics, River estimates that about 1,755 BTC per day flow into business-controlled wallets.

By comparison, River calculates new miner supply at about 450 BTC per day in 2025. That figure reflects the April 2024 halving, which cut the block subsidy to 3.125 BTC per block.

With bitcoin blocks averaging one every 10 minutes — about 144 per day — the result is roughly 450 BTC in new issuance daily, though the exact number fluctuates slightly as block times vary.

That math is the basis for River’s claim that companies are absorbing bitcoin at nearly four times the rate it is mined.

The infographic shows other large institutional inflows as well.

Funds and ETFs account for about 1,430 BTC/day in net inflows, which further boosts total absorption compared with new issuance. Smaller streams go to “other” entities (about 411 BTC/day) and governments (about 39 BTC/day).

River also records a small but steady flow into “lost bitcoin” (about 14 BTC/day), representing coins that the firm judges to be permanently inaccessible, such as through key loss.

On the other side of the ledger, individuals appear as the largest net outflow at about –3,196 BTC/day. River stresses that this does not necessarily mean retail investors are dumping coins. Rather, it reflects bitcoin moving from addresses the firm classifies as individual-held into those it tags as institutional.

River says the takeaway is simple: when inflows to businesses and funds exceed new issuance from miners, available supply tightens. Still, the firm cautions that the infographic should be read carefully.

First, the figures are estimates, not an exact census of the blockchain.

River relies on a mix of wallet tagging, public disclosures and external databases, which may miss some holdings or misclassify certain addresses. Second, net inflows do not always equal direct spot buying. A business wallet showing +1,755 BTC per day could reflect OTC transactions, custodial transfers or treasury reshuffling, not just exchange purchases.

For readers unfamiliar with flow diagrams, the point is this: the lines show where coins are ending up on balance, not every trade or transfer in the system. If more coins consistently end up in business, fund and government wallets than miners are producing, River argues that institutions are tightening supply at the margin.

River’s snapshot is not a price forecast, but it illustrates how ownership patterns may be shifting. If businesses and funds continue to absorb more than miners produce, the firm argues, institutions could play a larger role in shaping bitcoin’s supply dynamics.

Ethereum Supply Shock? Binance ETH Reserves Dip As Demand Gains Traction

by admin August 29, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Even though Ethereum is facing bearish action after a pullback from its all-time high a few days ago, the second-largest crypto asset is still holding remarkably well above the $4,000 price mark. There has been a notable bullish response from ETH investors in the midst of the waning price action, as indicated by a rise in demand.

Demand For Ethereum Is Returning

Ethereum has continued its downward trend as the broader crypto market exhibits bearish action. Despite the continued negative pressure on price, Darkfost, an author and market expert, has disclosed a resurgence in sentiment among Ethereum investors on the largest crypto platform, Binance.

Darkfost highlighted that Ethereum’s market dynamics are shifting once again as fresh data reveals a sharp decline in reserves held on Binance. While demand for the leading altcoin has gained substantial traction in the broader crypto sector, the number of ETH on the crypto platform declined by about 10%.

This significant decline implies that investors are removing ETH from centralized platforms, a behavior frequently linked to long-term accumulation and growing confidence. During this period, increased market activity has been driven by rising demand, suggesting a potential supply squeeze that would intensify Ethereum’s next significant price rise.

Binance ETH reserve is dropping | Source: Chart from Darkfost on X

In less than a week, the number of ETH on the crypto exchange declined by 10 % from 4,975,000 ETH to 4,478,000 ETH, particularly between August 23 and 27. According to the on-chain expert, this kind of decline in Binance‘s Ethereum reserves, along with the fact that the trend has continued for several days, is an obvious indication of high consumer demand.

When reserves on crypto exchanges decrease like this,  investors would rather take their ETH out of the platforms. After this move, these investor either store their coins in personal wallets or carry out their tasks in DeFi in order to earn profits.

Offering a key takeaway, Darkfost noted that the consistent rate of this decline indicates that there has been a high demand for ETH in recent days, while Binance’s internal transfers might have contributed to the surge.

Large Capitals Are Flowing Into ETH

As the bull market extends, Ethereum is experiencing robust inflows, signaling growing institutional confidence. Following a prolonged period of stagnation, data from the leading analytics firm CryptoRank indicate a notable increase in inflows, as Ethereum gains widespread recognition among institutional investors.

Given that institutional participants are increasingly choosing long-term investing plans over short-term speculation, this renewed momentum demonstrates ETH’s resistance to significant market corrections.

At the time of writing, the price of ETH remains bearish and was trading at $4,398, demonstrating a nearly 4% decline in the last 24 hours. Investors’ sentiment has turned negative, as data from CoinMarketCap shows that its trading volume has reached a 10% decline in the past.

MicroStrategy Successfully Claims 3% Of Bitcoin Supply, Here’s How Much It’s Now Worth

by admin August 27, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, has achieved a milestone that cements its reputation as the biggest corporate holder of Bitcoin. A recent acquisition of 3,018 BTC on August 25 at a total purchase price of $357 million has pushed the company’s total Bitcoin portfolio to 632,457 BTC.

Based on the current price of Bitcoin, the total value of the portfolio is valued at $46.502 billion. However, outside the value of its holdings, data shows that Strategy now controls over 3% of Bitcoin’s current circulating supply.

Strategy Claims 3% Of Bitcoin Supply

According to Strategy’s website, the American-based technology company now holds 632,457 BTC. At the time of writing, Bitcoin has a total circulating supply of 19,912,106, although the maximum supply is hard capped at 21,000,000.

In numbers alone, Strategy now owns 3.176% of the circulating supply of Bitcoin. Claiming such a large share of Bitcoin shows the scale of the company’s commitment and its strategy of positioning Bitcoin as the backbone of its corporate treasury.

Source: Chart from Strategy

Owning more than 3% of Bitcoin’s supply has not only been symbolic but also financially rewarding for Strategy. In the current quarter alone, its portfolio has grown by 4.7%, generating $3.156 billion in gains. Since the start of 2025, the value of its holdings has increased by 25.4%, amounting to an increase of $12.641 billion in dollar terms.

The company’s Bitcoin-based investment’s profit in 2025 has already surpassed the entire profit of $13.133 billion recorded in 2024. Notably, this Bitcoin buying strategy means the company’s performance is now linked to Bitcoin’s price movements, with every percentage increase in BTC translating into billions in added value.

Future Ambitions After The 3% Milestone

According to data from Bitcointreasuries.net, Strategy is by far the biggest public Bitcoin treasury company. The second is America-based digital asset technology company MARA Holdings, which currently holds 60,639 BTC.

Strategy is now part of the top five Bitcoin holders, behind crypto exchange Coinbase, Satoshi Nakamoto, and Spot Bitcoin ETF issuer BlackRock, which has seen the value of its Bitcoin holdings grow to over 747,000 BTC in August 2025. Interestingly, Strategy’s Bitcoin portfolio has even surpassed the total amount of BTC held in the Binance exchange reserve, which data from Coinglass currently puts at 578,903 BTC.

Although holding over 3% of Bitcoin’s circulating supply is a milestone few companies could have imagined, Strategy’s ambitions are far from fulfilled. Co-founder and former CEO Michael Saylor recently outlined a plan to raise $100 billion within the next four years to finance the company’s Bitcoin credit initiative. The financing could even reach up to $200 billion if the demand for the company’s securities is strong.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $111,300, up by 0.9% in the past 24 hours.

As ETH Soars, Analyst Explains Why Supply Shock Seems ‘Inevitable’

by admin August 24, 2025

Ether (ETH) pushed into uncharted territory Sunday, clearing $4,900 on Coinbase at 5:40 p.m. UTC and surpassing its prior record of $4,867 set on Nov. 8, 2021.

The five-year ETH-USD price chart from TradingView shows a clean, multi-year breakout: ETH has finally vaulted the 2021 high after a long consolidation, leaving no historical overhead levels to lean on.

This is what traders call price discovery — the market is printing new highs with only psychology and order flow to guide it rather than prior chart resistance.

Five-year ETH-USD Chart for Coinbase From TradingView

The 5-day view fills in the tape action. After a fast run from the mid-$4,700s, ETH pushed through $4,900 and reached an intraday high around $4,946.90. At the time of the chart snapshot — 6:48 p.m. UTC — the last price was about $4,941.57. That sequence signals buyers absorbed supply near the old ceiling and then forced a fresh high, a classic breakout pattern.

Five-day ETH-USD Chart for Coinbase From TradingView

Analyst Miles Deutsher summed up the leadership shift as “BTC is exhausted, ETH isn’t.” In plain English, he is flagging relative momentum: bitcoin’s rallies have stalled near recent highs while ether just broke into price discovery.

When a market says one asset is “exhausted,” it usually means upside attempts are fading, follow-through is weak, and sellers keep meeting pushes higher; “isn’t” means the opposite — stronger follow-through, fresh highs, and active dip-buying. Traders often rotate toward the asset showing higher relative strength when the other leader tires.

Crypto Rover focused on supply on exchanges. “Exchange reserves” refers to coins held in wallets controlled by centralized trading venues.

When those balances trend down, fewer coins are immediately available to sell. If demand rises as liquid supply thins, price can accelerate because buyers must bid higher to coax coins off-exchange back into circulation. That is the mechanic behind his “supply shock” phrasing — not a guarantee of straight-up prices, but a setup where scarcity can magnify moves once momentum starts.

Michaël van de Poppe offered a risk check. He highlighted the unusually large weekly candle and cautioned that weekend breakouts often retrace when liquidity normalizes early in the week.

The idea is simple: weekend order books can be thinner, so moves extend more easily; when fuller participation returns on Monday, prices sometimes retest the breakout area to confirm it as support before trending again. In practice, that means a pullback toward the breakout zone would not, by itself, negate the larger bullish break you see on the 5-year chart.

Dutch Firm Amdax To Launch Bitcoin Treasury Company, Eyes 1% Of BTC Supply

by admin August 19, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Leading Netherlands-based crypto services firm Amdax today announced plans to launch a Bitcoin (BTC) treasury company called AMBTS B.V. (AMBTS), with the goal of listing it on Euronext Amsterdam.

Amdax Unveils Bitcoin Treasury Firm

In a move that underscores the growing trend of European companies embracing Bitcoin strategies, Dutch crypto services provider Amdax revealed it is laying the groundwork for a dedicated Bitcoin treasury company to be listed on Amsterdam’s Euronext stock exchange.

AMBTS will operate as a privately held company with an independent governance structure and a singular focus on BTC accumulation. The company aims to acquire as much as 1% of the total Bitcoin supply, raising capital from private investors in stages to achieve that ambitious target.

At current market prices, holding 1% of Bitcoin’s supply – roughly 210,000 BTC – would require an investment of approximately $24 billion. Presently, only Strategy holds more than 1% of the supply, with 628,946 BTC on its balance sheet.

Amdax emphasized Bitcoin’s low correlation with traditional asset classes as a key driver of institutional interest. The firm noted that persistent inflation, geopolitical instability, and increasing regulatory clarity have strengthened BTC’s appeal, reflected in its recent price performance.

According to Amdax, proceeds from the initial financing round will be used to “make a head start with the BTC accumulation strategy,” which the firm expects will also boost its equity value over time.

For background, Amdax has been operating as a licensed cryptocurrency services provider for more than five years. In 2020, it became the first Dutch crypto company to register with the Dutch Central Bank (DCB). Commenting on the development, Lucas Wensing, CEO of Amdax, said:

While Bitcoin has been the best performing major asset in the past 10 years with fast adoption as digital capital, it is still relatively small in investment portfolios. With now over 10% of BTC supply held by corporations, governments and institutions, we think the time is right to establish a Bitcoin treasury company with the aim to obtain a listing on Euronext Amsterdam.

BTC Adoption In Europe Gaining Momentum

Although European companies were initially hesitant to embrace BTC, many are now warming up to the cryptocurrency. A supportive regulatory environment and growing institutional adoption in the US have contributed to Europe’s shifting stance toward digital assets.

For instance, UK-based firm The Smarter Web Company recently expanded its cryptocurrency holdings to 1,825 BTC after purchasing an additional 225 BTC. Similarly, Satsuma Technology, also based in the UK, raised $135 million to increase its BTC exposure.

Meanwhile, Norway’s sovereign wealth fund disclosed that its indirect BTC exposure rose 192% year-on-year, highlighting the increasing role of BTC in European institutional portfolios. At press time, BTC trades at $116,100, down 1.8% in the past 24 hours.
