Summer finally gets going in The Sims 4 with a roadmap, and the reveal of a new expansion next week

by admin June 6, 2025

Maxis has, as promised, delivered some news about some of the content coming to The Sims 4 in the very near future. We’ve been expecting the June-August roadmap to be detailed this week, and that’s exactly what’s been revealed.

It all starts next week, when the next major expansion will be revealed. The Enchanted by Nature Expansion Pack is set to be unveiled on Thursday, June 12. But there’s more coming throughout the summer, too.

As detailed on the official website, the June 12 reveal of Enchanted by Nature will only deliver the initial trailer; EA likes to make announcements of announcements a lot with The Sims. A deeper look at gameplay will arrive two weeks later, on June 26.

Enchanted by Nature will be available in The Sims 4 on July 10, so that’s another wait of two more weeks. The game is also hosting the Nature’s Calling event to celebrate the impending launch of the new expansion.

Nature’s Calling kicks off June 24, two days before the proper reveal of the expansion. This is a limited-time event that EA says will let you “hone your Sim’s handiness skill to discover a long-hidden secret of nature.” There’s actually a dedicated page to Nature’s Calling with more information on what you can expect, and how the event works.

On July 1, The Sims 4 will receive its next update. You can expect some nature-inspired skins and customisation options in that one. Later in the summer – on August 19, to be exact – a fresh batch of customisation options will arrive alongside another base game update.

That’s it! | Image credit: Maxis, EA.

The Sims 4’s most recent expansion was Businesses & Hobbies, a pack that introduced hobby classes, small businesses, and a new pottery skill. With each new expansion, cross-pack interactivity once again becomes a major talking point amongst the game’s community, so it’ll be interesting to see whether Nature’s Calling moves things forward in that area.

If you’re still playing Businesses & Hobbies, we’ve got a number of cheats to help you out, should you need them.

Summer Game Fest 2025 Opening Showcase live stream and blog

by admin June 6, 2025

The annual cascade of Summer Game Fest broadcasts formally begins tonight with the Opening Showcase at 10pm UK time (11pm CEST/5pm EDT/2pm PDT). We’ll report all of the major announcements from it here, as they happen, while also chatting with you. So grab a tea or a coffee, or something harder if you like, and join us for the show.

Tonight’s Opening Showcase is expected to be a long one with a projected runtime of around two hours. It’ll be hosted by Geoff Keighley, as ever, although he’ll be joined this year by friend-of-Eurogamer Lucy James, which is nice. You’ll know her from GameSpot.

Keighley has kept a tight lid on announcements for tonight, although a couple of promo reels for the show have included footage from Death Stranding 2, new James Bond game 007: First Light, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, and a bunch of other games I don’t immediately recognise. There’s also been an uptick in Resident Evil 9 speculation ahead of the show, suggesting a possible unveiling tonight. Wouldn’t that be nice?

What’ve you got, Geoff, what’ve you got.Watch on YouTube

This week’s gaming festivities were kicked off on Wednesday by a PlayStation State of Play broadcast, which unveiled 007: First Light to the world, resurrected Capcom’s lost-in-development Pragmata, debuted Silent Hill F, revealed a new Lumines game, and more.

Tonight’s Opening Showcase will be followed directly by Day of the Devs, and then by a packed weekend of broadcasts including an Xbox Showcase on Sunday at 6pm UK time. I’ll return to live-report that show. We’ve compiled a full Summer Games Fest 2025 schedule elsewhere on the site.

Join us shortly before 10pm UK time for the show. In the meantime, speculate away – what would you like to see?

Let’s hope so! I can only imagine the comments if this does actually ever happen.

Good afternoon! Here we go, then. This is the big one. There should at least be an announcement or two in here to get excited about. Ian Higton just made a good point while asking what the rooster or chicken was about in the headline image, to which I said “I don’t know” because I didn’t put it there – the Summer Games Fest Twitter/X account did. Could it be a nod to Fable 4?

These additions were revealed at tonight’s PlayStation State of Play.

The next batch of games coming to PS Plus over the summer are:

  • FBC Firebreak (PS5) – available 17th June
  • Deus Ex (PS2) – available 17th June
  • Twisted Metal 3 and Twisted Metal 4 (PS1) – available 15th July

In addition, Myst and its sequel Riven will arrive on PS Plus later this month as part of Sony’s Days of Play promotion. Days of Play was announced last month, bringing a first discount to the PS5 Pro console.

Sword of the Sea is the next game from the visionary artist behind Abzu and The Pathless, featuring a similarly striking visual aesthetic. It also has music from Journey composer Austin Wintory.

It’s a day one addition to PS Plus, as is Remedy’s new online shooter FBC Firebreak. Eurogamer went hands-on with Firebreak last month.

As a reminder, day one game releases to the PS Plus catalogue require an Extra or Premium subscription. Those retro classics are only available with a Premium subscription.

How to watch Sony’s PlayStation State of Play at Summer Game Fest

by admin June 4, 2025

Summer Game Fest week just got even busier. Sony is throwing its own party on Wednesday, June 4 at 5PM ET in the form of a State of Play. The stream will showcase “must-play” PS5 games from developers based around the world and you can watch it on on YouTube or Twitch. To make things even easier, you can watch it right here by clicking the big red button above when the time is right. (English subtitled and Japanese versions of the State of Play will be available too.)

The State of Play will run for over 40 minutes, so there should be a bunch of games included. Sony hasn’t given any hints as to what it will show off as yet, but it’ll surely be worth checking out the stream. Wednesday’s event will be Sony’s third State of Play of the year. The first was in February, which included the reveal of the very tasty-sounding Soros from Returnal studio Housemarque, a PS5 remaster of Days Gone and a release date for Borderlands 4. In April, the company hosted a brief State of Play entirely focused on Borderlands 4 where it showed off gameplay and some new multiplayer mechanics.

With this State of Play, Sony is padding out a packed SGF schedule that includes what is routinely Xbox’s biggest showcase of the year on Sunday, June 8. And then there’s also the little matter of the Nintendo Switch 2’s arrival on June 5. It’s shaping up to be a fun, if very busy, week.

9 Rad Indie Games You Missed From The Mix Summer Showcase

by admin June 3, 2025

Image: Hypersect / Videocult, Akupara Games / Fuzz Force

The Mix Summer Showcase ran over 90 minutes and offered quick looks at dozens of upcoming games. Formerly known as Guerrilla Collective, the showcase is one of many indie events swirling around the orbit of Summer Game Fest, and unlike many of the bigger games getting shown off in the days ahead, some of these have playable demos right now while others are likely getting them in the weeks and months ahead.

We picked out nine that caught our eye. Some of them were being shown for the first time. Others were previously revealed but had gone under our radar since, or popped up with fresh trailers showing a deeper look at story, world-building, and gameplay. But there were a ton more games worth checking out and wishlisting in the full showcase. You can see all of them for yourself in the video below.

Traveling Abroad This Summer? Here Are the Best Tips to Avoid Roaming Phone Charges

by admin June 3, 2025

Modern smartphones makes international travel a breeze compared to the old days. The Android or iOS supercomputer in your pocket has all the downloadable apps and included features to smoothly reserve hotel rooms, navigate cities, translate signage through the camera and pay for goods and services. With the latest software upgrades, you can translate conversations in real time with AI-powered features and even ask your AI-powered assistants for travel tips.

All those fancy phone features and apps work best — and sometimes only work — with a data connection. While that’s covered by your domestic plan, it usually comes with extra roaming fees when you travel abroad. Here’s how to avoid those charges.

Read more: Best Phone to buy for 2025

First and foremost, you’ll want to understand how pricey those extra charges are or whether you’ll be traveling to a region that’s cheaper or free with your carrier. Some mobile carriers have partnered with carriers in other countries for more affordable roaming or even free service, albeit with some restrictions. For example, some plans — like T-Mobile’s Essentials — offer free service in Canada and Mexico, but only at slow, 2G- or 3G-like speeds. So don’t expect to stream much video on that connection.

But traveling to most countries will require you to pay mobile roaming charges if you try to use data services, make voice calls or send text messages on your phone as normal. If that’s your plan, check out our guide for the best travel phone plans.

If you want to avoid mobile roaming charges, keep the following tips in mind.

Jordi Salas/Getty Images

Set up mobile service before you leave

Some carriers will let you pick traveling service options ahead of time, which can include daily, weekly or monthly flat fees to get service from partner carriers in other countries. You can wait until you arrive at your destination and wait to be prompted to select your chosen service or you can set it up ahead of time. Note that some carriers will simply default you to these services rather than charge you higher roaming fees, although it’s worth confirming before you travel.

These international plans are pretty convenient, although some may come with caveats such as being deprioritized behind other carrier customers, meaning you’ll get slower speeds during peak traffic times. Check the fine print of each travel plan to know its restrictions and what you may need to pay for extra service.

Verizon’s international plans start pretty simply, with $10 a day getting you 2GB per day of high-speed data and unlimited 3G-speeds data thereafter, as well as free voice calls and texting, in more than 210 countries. That plan is discounted to $5 per day in Canada and Mexico.

If you have one of the carrier’s latest plans, known as Unlimited Plus and Unlimited Welcome, you’ll get these features included for Canada and Mexico. Customers with Verizon’s top Unlimited Ultimate option will get this international data for Canada and Mexico as well as for more than 210 countries.

Watch this: Here’s Why Your Phone Battery Still Sucks

02:46

AT&T has a similar $10-per-day travel plan for unlimited data, voice calls and text. The data counts against your usual plan’s allowance; going over will result in a charge and/or reduced download speeds of a super slow 2G-like connection. If you don’t sign up for this plan, traditional roaming fees kick in, charging per text message, megabyte of data and minute of voice calling.

Unlimited data for Canada and Mexico is included in AT&T’s main Unlimited plans, while the carrier’s Unlimited Premium PL and Unlimited Elite plans also allow unlimited data in 20 Latin American countries.

T-Mobile has its own international plans with unlimited calling, but they’re pretty modest with data, starting at $5 per day for half a gigabyte of downloaded data. Keep in mind that the carrier’s standard plans also include some international data allowances.

The basic Magenta and Go5G plans offer up to 10GB of high-speed data a month in Canada and Mexico, and once that’s used up, get unlimited data at very slow 2G speeds (as previously mentioned, the cheapest Essentials plan only gets data in Canada and Mexico at 2G speeds). Go5G Next, Go5G Plus and Magenta Max plans have a small 5GB monthly travel allowance for high-speed data in more than 215 countries, although that’s subject to potential extra taxes and conditions. Standard Go5G plans get the same 5GB data allowance in 11 European countries.

Although it’s possible to bump up your plan for the month (or more) you’re traveling and return to your old plan thereafter, it’s likely simpler to just pay for international data.

Getting mobile service directly from a local carrier

Before carriers got friendlier with their international agreements to support each other’s customers, one of the better traveling strategies was to get service straight from the carrier in the country you were traveling in. Once you landed, you’d just walk into a local carrier’s retail store and get a prepaid SIM card to last you the length of your trip.

That’s still possible today but it’s a bit more complicated. If you have one of the many phones that lack a physical SIM slot, including the latest iPhone 15 series and Samsung Galaxy S24 series, you’ll have to register for service through one of the eSIM accounts on your device. It’s pretty easy to do and is in fact one of the benefits of having multiple digital eSIM slots — so you can have one for domestic use and one for traveling — but it requires you to register through the carrier in question. You can even load the eSIM before you travel, through apps such as Airalo and Ubigi.

Unfortunately, there’s something else to consider: whether your phone is unlocked, that is, not tied to a carrier and restricted in using eSIMs from other carriers (even international ones). If you bought your device unlocked, you’re in the clear.

If you’re paying off your phone in installments from your carrier, it’s complicated. Verizon users have it best, as their installment plans unlock phones after 60 days. AT&T and T-Mobile, however, require you to finish your installments and fully pay off your phone to unlock it. Because AT&T’s plans have a minimum of 36 monthly installments, customers may be out of luck getting a local carrier eSIM unless they’re nearing the end of their contract — in which case it may make sense to pay the balance for more travel freedom.

Relying on a hotspot and tethering

Another method to avoid roaming is a bit more roundabout and requires you to sign up for service with a local carrier anyway but you won’t have to fiddle with eSIMs. When you land in your country of travel, you can rent a mobile hotspot (or register service on one you already own), which is a handheld device that turns cell signals into Wi-Fi.

Note that you’ll still need to pay for service either from the hotspot maker or from a local carrier, and there’s no guarantee that their networks will play nicely with a given hotspot device. Check that it’ll work in the area you’re traveling to.

Once you have one set up, you just connect to the hotspot’s Wi-Fi using your phone as normal. While it’s a bit more cumbersome, this also lets you get internet for your other devices, such as tablets and laptops, pretty much anywhere you get a phone signal from a local carrier.

Read more: Best cheap phone plan for 2024

Another caveat is that you’ll need to keep the hotspot itself charged, which is another device battery you’ll have to worry about. It might be worth carrying an external battery to make sure your hotspot can last a full day while you’re out and about.

Ultimately, whatever option you choose should fit your travel habits and destinations. Some carrier partnership options will be more appealing but offer slower speeds than getting service straight from the local carrier. But don’t worry about getting locked into a choice: You can always try out one way when you arrive and switch to another if a better choice presents itself.

Summer Game Fest releases hype trailer ahead of weekend of reveals

by admin June 3, 2025

A new trailer has been released for Summer Game Fest ahead of the event this Friday. This montage of big releases – some already playable, others highly anticipated – is clearly a tone setter for the annual gaming showcase, set to kick off a weekend of new trailers and reveals.

Some notable titles featured in this sizzle reel include Death Stranding 2, Dune Awakening, Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, and Mafia: The Old Country. Marathon will also be making an appearance too, its first since an art plagiarism scandal reportedly left morale at Bungie in “free fall”.

As for representation from games you can just go out and buy right now, you’ve got titles like Doom: The Dark Ages, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. It’s unclear as of yet what sort of presence these games will have at the show, but one can assume smaller updates, post-launch content, and so on.

Summer Game Fest: Geoff’s Hype TrailerWatch on YouTube

Indeed many of the games briefly shown off in this new trailer will likely be making some manner of appearance at the show. We know of course that Death Stranding 2 is getting its own premiere separate from the main Summer Game Fest stage on June 8, and thanks to a recent Twitter post by Summer Game Fest founder and host Geoff Keighley we know 2K will be there, hopefully with Mafia in hand.

Of course that same tweet does point towards other big studios that surely will be dropping something exciting during the weekend. Studios like Bandai Namco, Capcom, Digital Extremes, Embark and far more have logos proudly spread across official Summer Game Fest material.

So, it’s safe to say it’ll be a must-watch for those keen to find out what these developers have been cooking up. You can find out when and where to watch all the different streams that make up Summer Game Fest here. That is, if you don’t mind a few late nights.

How to watch the IOI Showcase at Summer Games Fest 2025

by admin June 2, 2025

Game developer and publisher IO Interactive is participating in Summer Games Fest 2025 with its own showcase. The presentation will take place on Friday, June 6 at 9PM ET/6PM PT. You can watch the IOI Showcase live on multiple platforms: Twitch, YouTube and TikTok. We’ve also got the YouYube stream embedded above, so that you can watch here while keeping up with our coverage of all the other developments happening during this year’s packed Summer Games Fest lineup.

IO Interactive parlayed its work on the excellent Hitman trilogy into a gig making a new James Bond game. Today, the company teased the title, 007 First Light, and it seems like there will be a game reveal during the showcase on Friday. The presentation will also introduce new content for the studio’s Hitman World of Assassination and as well as a game called MindsEye from its publishing branch. “We’ve prepared some truly exciting surprises” for the event, IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak said, so there will probably be additional announcements beyond those three titles.

How to watch the Xbox Games Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2025

by admin June 2, 2025

Summer Game Fest 2025 kicks off on June 6, and if there’s one event from the weekend that everyone’s sure to be talking about, it’s the Xbox Games Showcase. The livestream is scheduled for Sunday, June 8 at 1:00PM ET (10:00AM PT), and you can tune into it on the Xbox YouTube channel or Twitch, where ASL interpretation will be provided. Immediately after the Xbox showcase, there will be a separate presentation dedicated entirely to The Outer Worlds 2. You can watch both the Xbox Games Showcase and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct using the embedded stream below when it goes live.

Last year’s showcase brought us news about the upcoming Fable reboot (since delayed until 2026), the next entry in the Gears of War series, Gears of War: E-Day, the recently released Doom: The Dark Ages and much more. We may hear some fresh updates about those first two titles on Sunday, and possibly more about others like Everwild, State of Decay 3, Hideo Kojima’s OD and Contraband. And of course, some new titles are likely to make their debut too.

You can catch up here on everything we expect to see at Summer Game Fest 2025, and follow along when the event begins for our on-the-ground coverage.
