This Samsung 9100 Pro 4TB SSD Hits a New All-Time Low, Amazon Clears Out Stock for Labor Day

by admin August 26, 2025

Amazon’s Labor Day sales have officially launched and some of the best offers are not on everyday essentials but on real tech upgrades. That’s exactly the case with the Samsung 9100 Pro 4TB SSD, which only went on sale a few months prior for $550. Now it has dropped to as little as $372 (37% off) which is an all time low for a brand new item. Samsung’s smaller 1TB and 2TB versions are seeing price drops as well right now but they come with less dramatic dives.

4.8 Out of 5 Stars Rating

This is a PCIe 5.0 drive which means you’re effectively stepping into the latest generation of storage technology. On paper, it can push sequential read speeds up to 14,800 MB/s and write speeds of around 13,400 MB/s (double the Samsung’s legendary 990 Pro). Launching games, opening massive video projects or crunching through workloads tied to AI applications and content creation happens almost instantly.

What’s equally impressive are the random read and write numbers as it can reach up to 2,200K and 2,600K IOPS. Sounds like computer lingo, but what it really translates to is seamless multitasking with a whole lot less waiting. Edit 4K or 8K footage, train AI models or load intense workstation applications: this drive maintains your system responsiveness even at high load. Gamers benefit too with incredibly fast in-game loading and virtually zero stutter while streaming assets in-game.

There’s a fresh 5nm controller inside which cuts power consumption by nearly 50% compared to the 990 Pro and that’s gigantic for laptops that sit through long sessions and desktops trying to keep temperatures under control. There’s integrated advanced thermal management which prevents overheating and throttling even when you’re hammering the drive with constant workloads.

On the software side, Samsung continues to support its drives with its Magician software suite which updates firmware automatically, contains helpful drive health monitoring and offers extra layers of encryption for workstations that deal with sensitive information.

If you’ve been waiting for a reason to jump into PCIe 5.0 speed, this Labor Day is the perfect time.

Global stock exchanges call on regulators to crack down on tokenised stocks

Global stock exchanges call on regulators to crack down on tokenised stocks

by admin August 25, 2025

Tokenized equities mimic stocks without any of the rights or safeguards of real stocks, the World Federation of Exchanges claims.

Summary

  • World Federation of Exchanges warned major global regulators about tokenized stocks
  • Tokenized equities, WFE claims, offer lower protections than actual stocks
  • Expanding asset tokenization could confuse investors into buying riskier asset

Global stock exchanges are urging top regulators to crack down on tokenized stocks. The World Federation of Exchanges sent a letter to major regulators warning them about the new risks these tokens create for investors, according to Reuters.

WFE sent a letter to three major regulators on Friday, claiming that these blockchain tokens mimic securities without providing the same protections and rights. The agency is concerned that if these tokens fail, exchanges could suffer reputational damage, and it called on regulators to address the issue.

“We are alarmed at the plethora of brokers and crypto-trading platforms offering or intending to offer so-called tokenised U.S. stocks,” the WFE letter wrote. “These products are marketed as stock tokens or the equivalent to stocks when they are not.”

The Securities and Exchange Commission’s Crypto Task Force, the European Securities and Markets Authority, and the global securities watchdog IOSCO’s Fintech Task Force were the agencies that received the letter.

Robinhood, Kraken push into tokenized securities

Tokenized shares represent ownership of underlying shares, but lack some of the inherent shareholder rights. This includes voting rights, dividends, and custody protections. In many cases, traders cannot redeem their shares and can only sell them back on the issuing platform.

Robinhood, Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, nd eToro are among the companies that offer similar products. However, these platforms try to make it clear that tokenized stocks are not equivalent to the underlying assets. Typically, these assets have a different ticker from the stock, for instance, COINx for tokenized Coinbase stock on Kraken. Moreover, Kraken explains that owning this instrument does not confer shareholder rights.

Ethereum Treasury ETHZilla Reveals $250 Million Buyback After Stock Craters

by admin August 25, 2025

In brief

  • Ethereum treasury company ETHZilla has announced a $250 million stock buyback program.
  • The firm’s stock is down by more than 50% over the last week, evaporating most of its recent gains.
  • Ethereum recently hit a new all-time high price, breaking a record that stood since 2021.

ETHZilla Corporation—a publicly traded Ethereum treasury firm formerly known as 180 Life Sciences—announced Monday that its board has authorized a stock repurchase program of up to $250 million of the company’s outstanding shares, effective immediately.

The move comes following a substantial dive for the firm’s stock price last week. ETHZilla, which trades on the Nasdaq under ETHZ, is down more than 53% on the week to a current price of $3.18, with the drop coming after a surge that tripled the stock’s value after billionaire VC Peter Thiel bought a stake in the company.

Last week’s price decline came as the company filed with the SEC on Friday to offer 74.8 million convertible shares, as part of an agreement reached on August 8. The filing fueled dilution concerns, as the total amount of outstanding shares is set to grow from 164.4 million to over 239.2 million.

ETHZ stock is down nearly 3.8% on the day following the stock buyback announcement. ETHZilla has given up most of its recent gains following last week’s price plunge, with the stock showing a less than 5% rise over the last month.

The Palm Beach, Florida-based company also disclosed it now holds 102,237 ETH at an average acquisition price of $3,948.72, valued at approximately $474 million as of this writing. The firm also has about $215 million in cash equivalents. The Ethereum tally includes 7,600 ETH acquired over the last week.

“At ETHZilla, we continue to deploy capital to accelerate our Ethereum treasury strategy with discipline and record speed,” said ETHZilla Executive Chairman McAndrew Rudisill, in a release. “As we continue to scale our ETH reserves and pursue differentiated yield opportunities, we believe an aggressive stock repurchase program at the current stock price underscores our commitment to maximizing value for shareholders.”

ETHZilla plans to stake its most recently purchased Ethereum tokens to Electric Capital’s proprietary Electric Asset Protocol to generate yield, the company said.

The stock repurchase program is scheduled to expire by June 30, 2026, or when $250 million in shares has been repurchased. The program will be funded through working capital and potential future fundraising efforts.

The price of Ethereum hit an all-time high Friday for the first time in nearly four years, and continued to rise higher on Sunday, peaking at a new record of $4,946 according to data from CoinGecko. It’s down more than 4% over the last 24 hours, however, falling to a current price of $4,604 as the broader crypto market sags.

Despite the dip, Myriad users believe that ETH will continue to rise to new peaks and cross the $5,000 milestone by the end of 2025, with 86% of users predicting such a move. (Disclaimer: Myriad Markets is a product of Decrypt’s parent company, DASTAN.)

Strategy Adds $357 Million in Bitcoin After Resuming Common Stock Offerings to Fund BTC Buys

by admin August 25, 2025

In brief

  • Strategy purchased roughly 3,000 Bitcoin worth $357 million.
  • The company issued common stock to fund the purchase.
  • The move conflicted with a newly adopted equity issuance policy.

Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, purchased $357 million in Bitcoin last week, selling common stock to fund acquisitions for the first time in nearly a month, the company said in a press release.

The Tysons Corner, Virginia-based firm issued $310 million worth of Strategy shares to fund its latest purchase. The move represented a return to normal after the Bitcoin-buying firm made a series of adjustments to its corporate playbook.

Strategy signaled a week ago that it was modifying a newly adopted equity issuance policy, which restricted its ability to issue common shares when its stock traded at a certain valuation. Although the framework was intended to show “discipline,” Strategy gave itself some wiggle room by saying the framework would be set aside “when otherwise deemed advantageous.”

The company said it would no longer issue common stock when Strategy’s so-called mNAV was below 2.5x, or its shares traded at less than a 2.5x premium to its Bitcoin holdings. Analysts lauded the shift when it was announced less than a month ago alongside Strategy’s second-quarter earnings performance, marked by $10 billion in profit.

Strategy shares fell nearly 2.7% to $348 on Monday, according to Yahoo Finance. The stock has cooled significantly from a high of $457 last month, but shares are still up 20% year-to-date. The price of Bitcoin, meanwhile, fell to $112,580, down 1.6% over the past 24 hours, although BTC is up 20% year-to-date, according to crypto data provider CoinGecko.

When Strategy’s shares trade at a premium to its Bitcoin holdings, the company is able to grow the amount of Bitcoin it owns per share issuing common stock. This year, Strategy has introduced several types of preferred shares as a new source of funding.

Strategy’s most recent Bitcoin purchase, for example, was partly funded by its SRTK, STRF, and STRD offerings. Strategy most recently raised around $47 million by selling the preferred stocks, which carry various obligations and dividend payments.

Damped Spring Advisors CEO and CIO Andy Constan is among those that have compared Strategy to a Ponzi Scheme, arguing the firm will have to issue common stock to fund dividends that it’s obligated to routinely pay its preferred shareholders.

Decrypt reached out to Strategy for comment.

Under an at-the-money (ATM) offering program established in May, Strategy can issue another $16.7 billion in common stock to pad its stockpile. As of Monday, the Bitcoin-buying firm held roughly 632,500 Bitcoin worth $70.5 billion, according to Bitcoin Treasuries.

In some ways, Strategy’s about-face on equity issuance is advantageous, according to Steven Lubka, VP of investor relations at Bitcoin treasury firm Nakamoto. It makes the company’s next funding move all that much harder to see coming, he told Decrypt.

“It makes him harder to predict,” Lubka said, referring to Strategy co-founder and Executive Chairman Michael Saylor. “The end state of this is that now you really don’t know if he’s going to hit the ATM every week.”

The Tech Stock Everyone Is Watching This Week

by admin August 24, 2025

Wall Street is narrowing in on must-watch tech giant Nvidia (NVDA) this week, as the $4 trillion semiconductor company reports earnings amid an ongoing skid in the technology sector.

“When the group goes down and the most important stock in the group reports earnings, that is going to have a bigger impact than usual,” Matthew Maley, chief market strategist at Miller Tabak, told Reuters.

That impact has analysts rushing to change their projections for the release of Nvidia’s quarterly report on Wednesday, with multiple influential predictions now adjusted to show a higher price target of $194 per share for that 12-month period, the highest amount for which the shares have ever traded.

The stock closed up more than 3% at the end of trading Friday at $177.99 amid a broader market rally led by other tech and finance companies. We covered the crypto companies that pushed that surge earlier today.

“What you’re seeing is the recognition that growth at Nvidia is rock solid,” Brian Mulberry, client portfolio manager at Zacks Investment Management, told Bloomberg. “Analysts are raising projections because they simply need to, the stock is not going to slow down.”

How did Nvidia get here?

It’s been quite a year for Nvidia.

The stock has been caught in the Trump administration’s tariff wars and fell sharply in April. It has since clawed back about three-quarters of those losses.

But that dip followed a chilly beginning to 2025, as it became clear that even Nvidia would have tough competition from compatriot company DeepSeek, which rolled out a discount AI model that astonished the market.

Recently, the stock wobbled this week as the broader AI market felt the effects of being dubbed a “bubble” by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

More immediately, Nvidia has signaled it is willing to play ball with Trump’s aggressive attempts to take stakes in major tech companies like Apple and AMD.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said Friday that the company is in talks with the American government to produce a new computer chip, a move that coincides with a joint announcement that the U.S. will take a 10% ownership slice of Intel.

“I’m offering a new product to China for … AI data centers, the follow-on to H20,” Huang said. But he added that “That’s not our decision to make. It’s up to, of course, the United States government. And we’re in dialogue with them, but it’s too soon to know.”

In the wake of Altman’s comments, however, Nvidia’s share price fell to $174 from $182 in 48 hours, as proponents of the AI bubble theory came out in force.

Huge expectations for a huge achiever

Still, no matter how much external pressure Nvidia feels from competitors and a rapidly evolving landscape of technology, it still remains the dominant player because of its sheer size and faster moves out of the starting blocks with its AI.

It also has far more reach and potentially a wider variety of clients for its more diversified set of products.

“[Nvidia] commentary on the demand side… should be more bullish just because their largest customers have all kind of upped their capex guidance over the last few quarters,” Roach told Reuters.

In fact, it is so big and has grown at such a scorching pace that if its quarterly revenue is up less than 70% year over year when it reports Wednesday, the company would likely see its share price fall.

A growth in revenue at that rate would be a major coup for most other companies, 24/7 Wall Street points out—for Nvidia, however, it would alarm investors who are spooked by the idea that it may eventually even slow down.

SharpLink (SBET) to Commence $1.5B Stock Buyback Program

by admin August 24, 2025

Ether treasury firm SharpLink Gaming (SBET) has authorized a stock purchase program of up to $1.5 billion.

SharpLink, which is helmed by Ethereum co-founder and ConsenSys CEO Joseph Lubin, said it will make the repurchases at a time and in amounts that depend on market conditions and share price in an announcement on Friday.

“Should there exist periods where our stock trades at or below the net asset value of our ETH holdings, it would be dilutive on an ETH per share basis to issue new equity through our capital raising efforts,” co-CEO Joseph Chalom said in the announcement.

“In this scenario, the accretive course of action may be to repurchase our common stock.”

The Minneapolis-based company holds 740,760 ETH, worth $3.19 billion at current prices. Numerous companies have unveiled ether treasury strategies in recent months to capture the upside from generating passive yield through ETH staking.

SharpLink shares traded over 10% higher at $19.85 on Friday morning following the buyback program announcement and as bitcoin surged after Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s comments opened the door to a September rate cut.

CRCL, COIN, MSTR Among Crypto Stock Rally as Powell Signals Possible September Rate Cuts

by admin August 23, 2025

Crypto-linked stocks and digital assets surged on Friday after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell signaled that the central bank could begin cutting interest rates as soon as September.

The tone marked a shift after weeks of growing investor doubt that the Fed would act before year-end.

Bitcoin BTC$115,897.19 and ether (ETH) both moved higher following Powell’s remarks, as did the S&P 500 and Nasdaq. Shares tied directly to the crypto sector posted some of the sharpest moves of the day.

At the time of writing, Circle (CRCL) led the pack with a 7% jump. eToro (ETOR) and Marathon Digital (MARA) each climbed 6%, while Coinbase (COIN) rose 5%. MicroStrategy (MSTR), which holds billions in bitcoin, gained 4%, and Robinhood (HOOD) advanced 3%.

The moves underscored how tightly crypto assets and equities remain linked to expectations for U.S. monetary policy. Lower interest rates typically ease financial conditions, encouraging risk-taking and increasing the appeal of speculative assets.

U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly called on the Fed to ease borrowing costs. Powell, however, emphasized that inflation risks remain and the labor market continues to show signs of strain.

Still, he suggested the calculus is evolving. “The balance of risks appears to be shifting,” Powell said, adding that while the jobs picture looks stable on the surface, “it is a curious kind of balance that results from a marked slowing in both the supply of and demand for workers.”

That cautious framing helped reassure markets that the Fed is potentially preparing to move to cut rates but not rushing into a decision. Investors had grown less confident about a September cut after a series of firmer-than-expected economic readings. Friday’s comments put the possibility back in play.

Ethereum Treasury SharpLink to Buy Back Up to $1.5 Billion in Stock

by admin August 23, 2025

In brief

  • SharpLink Gaming unveiled $1.5 billion in potential stock buybacks.
  • The company traded at a slight premium to its Ethereum holdings.
  • SharpLink’s stock price surged more than 15% on Friday to $20.83.

SharpLink Gaming can repurchase up to $1.5 billion worth of common stock under a newly authorized repurchase program, the Ethereum treasury firm said in a blog post on Friday.

With a market cap of $3.5 billion, that would be almost half of the company’s value, but Co-Chief Executive Officer Joseph Chalom described the program as a potential resource for instances when the company’s shares trade a discount to its Ethereum holdings.

“In this scenario, the accretive course of action may be to repurchase our common stock,” he said in a statement. “This program provides us with the flexibility to act quickly and decisively if those conditions present themselves.”

SharpLink shares surged more than 15% on Friday to $20.87 amid a wider upturn in crypto-focused stocks, according to Yahoo Finance, as investors turned optimistic about the prospects of an interest rate cut following remarks by U.S. central bank Chair Jerome Powell. But SharpLink’s stock price has swooned 24% over the past month even as Ethereum has gained ground.

Ethereum was recently changing hands at $4,813, jumping more than 13% over the past 24 hours, according to crypto data provider CoinGecko. Earlier Friday, ETH set a new record high of $4,879 before retreating. The asset’s price has increased about 35% over the past month.

Like most crypto treasury firms, SharpLink seeks to maximize shareholder value by growing the amount of Ethereum it owns per fully diluted share. When SharpLink shares trade at a premium to its crypto holdings, it can issue common stock to increase that ratio.

Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, has used the tactic for years, but its premium has been substantially greater and existed far longer. On Friday, SharpLink had a so-called mNAV of 1.08, reflecting a slight premium, according to Ethereum Strategic Reserve.

SharpLink owned 740,000 ETH worth over $3.5 billion, as of Friday. Its corporate stash was around half the size of BitMine Immersion Technologies’, which owned 1.5 million ETH that were worth around $7.3 billion.

In the press release, SharpLink noted that the timing and amount of shares repurchased under its newly approved program will depend on market conditions. It’s not obligated to purchase any shares whatsoever, and the initiative can be suspended at any time, it added.

Coinbase, Strategy Lead Crypto Stock Rebound as Bitcoin and Ethereum Soar

by admin August 22, 2025

In brief

  • Shares of crypto companies rose in price alongside digital assets and major stock indices.
  • The price surge comes after Federal Reserve Jerome Powell indicated that the central bank could cut rates next month.
  • Bitcoin and Ethereum were also trading higher on Friday, with ETH and altcoins leading the charge.

Crypto-focused company stocks rose Friday alongside digital coins following a more dovish-than-expected speech from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.

Nasdaq-listed Coinbase (COIN) spiked and was recently trading more than 6% higher on the day at $319. Meanwhile, Bitcoin treasury and software firm Strategy—MSTR—was up by nearly 65 to $354. Both had been trading down in recent days, but COIN is now in the green over the past week while MSTR remains slightly down during the span.

And Circle, which debuted on the New York Stock Exchange in May in a blockbuster IPO, jumped higher. The stablecoin giant was recently priced 6% higher over the past day, currently at $140, but had shown a 9% leap earlier in the morning.

Elsewhere, leading Bitcoin miners, CleanSpark (CLSK) and Riot Platforms (RIOT) rose by 5% and nearly 9% on the day, respectively, to nearly $10 and above $13.

Crypto treasuries like SharpLink and BitMine Immersion—which focus on buying and holding Ethereum, the second biggest digital coin—both jumped by more than 12%, hitting nearly $20 and $54.

Broadly, stocks are up on the day, with The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbing higher by 880 points, or nearly 2%, touching a new high. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 climbed 1.45%, and the Nasdaq rose by 1.6%.

The rise in equities comes as leading cryptocurrencies Bitcoin and Ethereum also jump. Bitcoin was recently priced at $116,318, up 3% in the hour after Jerome Powell spoke, CoinGecko data shows. Ethereum spiked higher by nearly 8% in one hour. The coin was recently trading for $4,740, about $130 away from its all-time high mark from 2021.

Over the past day, Bitcoin and Ethereum were up 3% and nearly 12%, respectively.

An interest rate cut would likely help cryptocurrency and tech stocks. Both assets have typically done well in the past in a low interest rate environment, as traders are more drawn to risk assets.

U.S. President Donald Trump has been pressuring Powell to cut rates, frequently insulting the Fed chair on Truth Social and even threatening to fire or even sue him.

The Fed started aggressively raising rates in 2022 in an attempt to control 40-year high inflation brought on by COVID-19. The central bank then started cutting borrowing costs again last year as the economy cooled.

SBI Holdings to launch on-chain Tokenized Stock trading platform

by admin August 22, 2025

Japanese financial giant SBI Holdings is entering the tokenized stock market through a new partnership with Singapore-based blockchain company Startale Group. With this partnership, they plan to create an on-chain trading platform for tokenized stocks and real-world assets (RWAs).

🏦 🌍 BREAKING: Startale Group and SBI Holdings are joining forces to launch a revolutionary onchain trading platform for crypto, tokenized stocks and real-world assets (RWAs).

🤝 This partnership combines robust blockchain technology with decades of financial market expertise,… pic.twitter.com/dAIsigWjUf

— Startale 💿 (@StartaleGroup) August 22, 2025

As per the official announcement, the platform will combine SBI’s financial network with Startale’s blockchain technology, which will fill critical market gaps left by traditional tokenized stock services.

What will Platform offer?

The traditional stock markets close on evenings and weekends, but the platform will allow people to trade U.S. and Japanese stocks 24/7. The platform will further provide fractional ownership, allowing investors to purchase a fraction of a stock rather than a whole one, in addition to quick settlement of trades and institutional-grade security.

The new platform will also integrate with DeFi, thus enabling investors to employ tokenized stocks in various financial apps and services.

SBI Holdings oversees over $74 billion in assets and has over 65 million customers across the globe. The company views asset tokenization as the future of global finance. It also thinks this trend would one day make entire capital markets, including stock exchanges themselves, digitalized.

Future Plans

This move positions SBI among the firms such as Robinhood, Kraken, Gemini, and Bybit, which have recently broadened tokenized stock offerings. Specialists estimate that the market of tokenized assets will be worth $18.9 trillion in 2033, and SBI and Startale intend to create infrastructure to assist in this prospect.

Yoshitaka Kitao, CEO of SBI Holdings, said that the tokenization of real-world assets is transforming global markets. He also predicts, “This movement will eventually lead to the digitalization of capital markets themselves, including exchanges. By capturing this trend and by leveraging our corporate ecosystem together with Startale’s blockchain technology, we have great expectations for creating a new decentralized platform.”

For this, SBI and Startale will form two joint venture companies—one to handle the technology development, and another to manage brand growth and business expansion.

Funding for the project will be released step by step based on progress milestones, ensuring careful growth toward commercial launch. The companies said more details, including the launch date, will be announced as development continues.
