by admin June 12, 2025

Nintendo has rolled out a fresh update for Splatoon 3. On top of visual improvements on Switch 2, the ver. 10.0.0 patch introduces a wealth of new content to the game, along with some weapon balance tweaks and other gameplay adjustments.

According to the official patch notes, Splatoon 3 now looks and runs better when played on Switch 2. Moving around hub areas like Splatsville and the Grand Festival Grounds is now smoother, and the visuals overall are more detailed. Nintendo says it has also “smoothed animations” for jellyfish and other characters around the game.

    • Players can earn new badges for weapons by achieving Freshness 6★ to 10★.
    • Once the update has been applied, weapons that had received XP beyond the maximum value before applying the update will have their Freshness increase after one battle by an amount proportionate to the amount of XP received up to this point.
  • Added new badges players can acquire based on the number of weapons with Freshness ★★★★ or higher.
  • Made it so that other players a player has battled with in Anarchy Battle (Series) and Splatfest Battle (Pro) will not display in the Users You Have Played With system feature of Nintendo Switch/Nintendo Switch 2 consoles.

As a bonus update, in this update we added weapons and a stage, increased the maximum Freshness, implemented a Series Weapon feature for Anarchy Battle (Series), added a call sign feature to X Battles, and performed optimization of operations on Nintendo Switch 2.

For Anarchy Battle (Series), we implemented a new Series Weapon feature targeted toward players Rank S or higher.

With this feature, the Series Weapon Power will be measured for each weapon currently equipped, and players will be matched up against others with similar levels of power.

We implemented this feature in hopes that players will enjoy battling using a variety of weapons, including the Splatlands Collection – Barazushi / Emberz weapons added in this update.

Additionally, we made balance changes to multiplayer battles.

For S-BLAST ’92 and S-BLAST ’91, we have made adjustments to give players fighting against them more room to counter because, from the opponent’s point of view, there seemed to be no openings at any distance.

For the Crab Tank, we lowered the maximum damage of the cannon to decrease the frequency that the person being attacked is defeated without any opportunity to evade. We also made it easier for other special weapons to fight against the Crab Tank.

For Toxic Mist, we have reduced the amount of ink consumed to make it easier to fight in combination with main weapons. On the other hand, we have simultaneously extended the time before ink begins to recover so that this change does not lead to tactics where players simply continuously throw their sub weapons.

The next update will focus on multiplayer balance based on analysis of changes to the situation that come with these weapon additions.

Splatoon Raiders Is The Series First Spin-Off Game And It’s Coming Exclusively To Switch 2

by admin June 11, 2025

Nintendo has announced Splatoon Raiders, the series’ first-ever spin-off game, and it’s coming exclusively to Switch 2. Splatoon Raiders is the first game announced for Switch 2 by Nintendo since the launch of the console last week, and it was revealed in the Nintendo Today app.

Playing as a mechanic, you’ll adventure to the mysterious Spirhalite Islands alongside Deep Cut, the idol trio of Splatoon 3 that consists of Shiver, Frye, and Big Man. Though the reveal trailer doesn’t show too much, it seems players will be exploring a set of islands while chasing after a mysterious yellow beam shooting into the sky within a tornado or water cyclone.

Check out the Splatoon Raiders reveal trailer for yourself below:

The trailer teases that “research” is still underway on Splatoon Raiders, likely indicating there’s some time to go before the game is ready for launch. Nonetheless, considering that Splatoon 3 has surpassed 10 million units sold and had the best launch for a Switch game in Japan, a new Splatoon game is exciting.

There’s no word on when to expect Splatoon Raiders, but Nintendo says it will launch exclusively on Switch 2.

Elsewhere in today’s Squid Research Lab Report, Nintendo revealed that version 10 of Splatoon 3 is on its way. It will feature the Splatlands Collection, which consists of 30 weapons from the series’ past but refreshed for the game. Plus, weapon freshness caps will be raised, and players can earn new in-game badges. And in the Anarchy Battle Series, players can utilize the Series Weapon Power, a new stat that tracks your effectiveness with a weapon based on your win-loss ratio in battles. It will also be used in matchmaking to put you up against players with similar stats.

That’s not all, though. Nintendo also revealed that Urchin Underpass, a map from the first Splatoon game, will return to the rotation of Splatoon 3. And for Switch 2 players, an upgrade will bring improved visuals, including better resolution and more. The company says this update won’t affect play capabilities between Switch and Switch 2 players when it launches this week on June 12.

While waiting for this update, read Game Informer’s Splatoon 3 review.

Splatoon spinoff game will launch exclusively on Switch 2

by admin June 10, 2025

Nintendo just dropped a trailer for a Splatoon spinoff game. Titled Splatoon Raiders, the third-person paint slinging shooter spinoff will be released exclusively on the Switch 2. This marks the first spinoff in the franchise and will take players to a new location called the Spirhalite Islands.

While details are sparse at this early stage, the trailer mentions players will take on the role of “a mechanic” alongside Deep Cut, a fictional band in the Splatoon universe. There’s no mention of multiplayer (and no footage of it in this teaser), so Splatoon Raiders may well be a single-player experience. While the initial launch will be exclusive to Nintendo’s newest handheld, the trailer says that “research is still underway,” implying there may be future releases on additional consoles.

A substantial update for Splatoon 3 was also announced, with version 10.0 landing on both Switch and Switch 2 June 12. Included in the update is the Splatlands Collection, a cache of 30 new weapons from the Barazushi and Emberz in-game brands. While they are based on previous weapons, they will sport new designs, sub weapons and specials.

The update also includes matchmaking improvements, with an added metric called Series Weapon Power, which will track your effectiveness per weapon based on your win-loss ratio in battles. This new metric will be considered when pairing you with other online players. Version 10.0 is also bringing back Urchin Underpass, a popular multiplayer map from the original Splatoon game. Nintendo says that Switch 2 players will notice more detailed visuals and improved performance with this update.

Alongside the Animal Crossing franchise, Splatoon and its sequels have been star properties for Nintendo, and have sold over 30 million copies worldwide. The Nintendo Switch 2 was released on June 5 and has been hard to find in stock during its first launch week.

Splatoon Raiders announced for Switch 2, plus a chonky Splatoon 3 update incoming

by admin June 10, 2025

Nintendo has announced Splatoon Raiders for Switch 2.

This game will serve as a spin-off of the Splatoon series, with players taking on the role of a mechanic. The game was announced via Nintendo’s bespoke Today app, where it shares daily updates on games and franchises under its umbrella.

In addition to Splatoon Raiders, Nintendo also has Splatoon 3 version 10.0.0 in bound. This will add new weapons, badges and more to the base game. As per the video shared via the Nintendo Today app, Splatoon 3 players will soon find 30 new weapon kits, the arrival of Urchin Underpass, new stat tracking options for weapon power, while the weapon freshness limit is being increased.

On top of all that, Nintendo has also talked of improved visuals and frame rate for Switch 2 as part of an update coming on 12th June. It has assured that those playing on Switch 2 will still be able to play against those on the original Switch console, as well.

Splatoon 3 was initially released back in 2022, and we here at Eurohamer were rather taken with it. “There are few surprises to be found in Splatoon 3’s multiplayer or campaign, but it is the best Nintendo’s spectacular series has been to date,” reads Eurogamer’s Splatoon 3 review.

As for the Switch 2, well that chap released last week, with many already enjoying the likes of Mario Kart World. Want to know more about the console before committing to one yourself? Our Donlan has given us all a Switch 2 review of sorts, with him saying: “I love this console a little bit. I’m glad it’s here.”

After working its magic on Zelda and Splatoon, it turns out Monolith Soft also aided development of Mario Kart World

by admin June 5, 2025

Monolith Soft has officially announced the company helped with the development of Mario Kart World.

The developer, which previously assisted with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 2 has stated on social media it developed the “fields and character designs” for the Nintendo Switch 2 racing game.

The studio has a history of open world video game development, becoming something of an expert in that particular area given the time spent on recent Zelda titles as well as its own Xenoblade releases. As such it makes sense why Nintendo would bring Monolith Soft over for Mario Kart World given the games’ shift to a non-linear format.

Check out our video preview for Mario Kart World here!Watch on YouTube

In 2024, Nintendo became the sole owner of Monolith Soft after years of holding roughly 80 percent of the company since 2007. In 2011, Nintendo would increase its stake to 97 percent of the company, after which those working there contributed to popular Nintendo series like Animal Crossing, Splatoon, and Zelda.

In recent years, Monolith Soft has largely been known for its ongoing Xenoblade series. In 2022 Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was released to high critical praise, and would continue this trend in 2025 with Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition.

The original version of Xenoblade Chronicles X was something of a technical marvel in the Wii U, and its Switch version brought that same quality packaged with various visual updates, dynamic resolution scaling, and greater environment detail among other tweaks and improvements.
