‘Crypto Dad’ Speaks Out About Breakthrough Regulatory Cooperation

by admin September 25, 2025

  • High-stakes roundtable
  • On the same page?

Chris Giancarlo, who is colloquially known as ‘Crypto Dad,’ recently took to the X social media network to highlight the upcoming roundtable between the SEC and the CFTC.

He will be responsible for guiding the upcoming discussion about the history of the relationships between the two agencies.

The list of panelists will include Kenneth Bentsen (SIFMA), Craig Lewis (Vanderbilt University), Scott Litvinoff (Interactive Brokers), and others.

High-stakes roundtable

According to a Tuesday announcement, a joint roundtable between the CFTC and SEC will take place on Sept. 29.

The purpose of the roundtable is to discuss aligning regulatory oversight across both agencies (particularly when it comes to financial markets and crypto markets).

The roundtable will have three segments: reviewing previous collaboration between the two influential agencies, looking at how regulatory coordination impacts market operators (like exchanges, brokers), and discussing various challenges and opportunities that could potentially arise from better collaboration.

‘Crypto Mom’ Hester Peirce will be giving the closing remarks.

On the same page?

Historically, the SEC and CFTC have had rather conflicting views when it comes to regulating crypto and financial products.

Hence, a coordinated approach could make regulations clearer, more predictable, and less fragmented. This is a big deal for traders, exchanges, and institutional investors.

Giancarlo calls it an “exciting new day,” which certainly shows how optimistic he is about the new development.

Google AI Mode now speaks Spanish

by admin September 23, 2025

Google’s AI Mode is continuing its rapid global growth. Today, the company announced that this addition to Google Search is rolling out in Spanish. The new option is available in all countries that support AI Mode. The move will allow Spanish speakers around the world to engage with this AI chatbot in their language of choice when asking more complicated questions than a search engine can typically answer well.

The proliferation of this AI enhancement to Google’s traditional search has happened at a break-neck pace. AI Mode was first introduced in March and then made available across the US in May. The first language expansion came earlier this month with the addition of AI Mode in Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean and Brazilian Portuguese.

Grayscale CEO Speaks out as XRP, SOL, ADA Crypto ETP Launches

by admin September 19, 2025

In a recent tweet, Grayscale CEO Peter Mintzberg revealed that Grayscale CoinDesk Crypto 5 ETF, with the ticker GDLC and the first multi-asset crypto ETP, has launched in the US.

The ETF kicked off trading on Friday on the NYSE and includes the five largest cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana and Cardano. These five major cryptocurrencies account for more than 90% of the total market capitalization, according to Grayscale.

Today, we’re proud to launch Grayscale CoinDesk Crypto 5 ETF (Ticker: GDLC), the first multi-asset crypto ETP in the US. This launch is more than just another ETP – it’s a reflection of our decade-long commitment to being first, moving fast, and giving investors transparent…

— Peter Mintzberg (@PeterMintzberg) September 19, 2025

The long-awaited launch followed approval on Wednesday from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that allowed the digital asset manager to convert its Grayscale Digital Large Cap (GDLC) Fund into an ETF and allocate to various crypto assets.

In his tweet, Grayscale CEO stated that the launch was more than just another ETP, as it reflects Grayscale’s commitment to being first, moving fast and giving investors transparent exposure to the cryptocurrency market.

What’s happening?

Grayscale’s multi-crypto-asset ETP launch coincides with a growing appetite among institutional and retail investors for diversified crypto exposure.

The GDLC fund earmarks about 70% to Bitcoin and 20% to Ethereum and has existed in other forms since 2018, most recently trading over the counter.

GDLC has increased by more than 40% in 2025 as many cryptocurrencies hit record highs. GDLC has surpassed Bitcoin by nearly 11% since June, as the four other cryptocurrencies in the fund (Ethereum, XRP, Solana and Cardano) outperformed BTC.

In positive news shared by Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas, the SEC has approved the generic listings standards that might clear the way for spot crypto ETFs to launch under the ’33 Act, as long as they have futures on Coinbase, which currently includes about 12 to 15 coins.

‘Red Hood’ Writer Speaks Out on Book’s Surprise Cancellation

by admin September 13, 2025

Earlier this week, DC Comics abruptly cancelled its new Red Hood comic from trans writer Gretchen Felker-Martin and artist Jeff Spokes. The decision came after Felker-Martin posted comments and jokes on social media about the assassination of prominent right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, which occurred on the same day—September 10—as the comic’s launch. DC Comics said in a statement that social media posts “that can be viewed as promoting hostility or violence are inconsistent with [our] standards of conduct.”

Now, in a new interview with the Comics Journal, Felker-Martin opened up about her posts and DC’s decision. She argued that DC had had no issue with her outspoken and sometimes incendiary social media presence when it approached her about doing a comic in 2024.

She recalled how she told the publisher at the time that it would “get between five and a hundred of the craziest people you’ve ever met in your life, screaming for my head and yours.” She went on to say that initially DC had given her “no terms or limitations” on her social media; a DC spokesperson reiterated to io9 the company’s previous stance on not abiding by posts that “promote hostility or violence.”

In the weeks leading up to Red Hood’s launch, past social media posts made by Felker-Martin on charged political topics, including the Israel-Gaza war, resurfaced. Felker-Martin told the Comics Journal that it was at this point that she received pushback on her social media activities; a spokesperson for DC confirmed this to the Comics Journal, saying the company requested Felker-Martin be more mindful of her online statements. Felker-Martin claimed she generally abided by that request until the day of Kirk’s murder.

The author said she stood by her comments about Kirk while expressing sympathy for her Red Hood co-creators, which include Spokens, cover artist Taurin Clarke and editors Arianna Turturro and Rob Levin. “I can only put it down to really just a moment of poor impulse control,” she told the Comics Journal. “Had I thought for another second, of course I would’ve known [that it would be a problem for DC], and naturally, as soon as I had said it, I did know.”

Felker-Martin also stressed that she did not want to work with DC Comics in the future: “I have no desire to be part of any organization that wants to pretend that people like Charlie Kirk are decent human beings who deserve respect.”

io9 has also reached out to Felker-Martin and will update this post if and when we hear back.

QTCinderella speaks out after argument over Taylor Swift goes viral

by admin September 6, 2025

Twitch streamer QTCinderella is lifting the lid on her viral argument about Taylor Swift that took place on an episode of the ‘Fear&’ podcast with Hasan, Will Neff and AustinShow.

On September 1, 2025, popular Twitch streamer QTCinderella got together with her cohosts, fellow broadcasters Hasan, Will Neff, and AustinShow, for an episode of their collaborative podcast named ‘Fear&.’

During the episode, QT’s cohosts asked for her opinion on Taylor Swift’s engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce. It’s well-known that she is a die-hard Swiftie, with the streamer attending the pop star’s concerts and even dressing up as her for Halloween.

“I really would love to play the caricature that you guys want me to be, where I jump for joy and I cried for her. I did not care,” QT admitted, much to her fellow streamers’ shock.

“Oh my god, you guys act surprised every time, and I’m so consistent about it. It’s crazy. I’ve always said that I’m not invested in her relationships. I do not care who she’s dating. I’ve always said that.”

QTCinderella goes viral for spat with co-hosts over Taylor Swift

The trio then grilled QT about Taylor’s future music now that she’s gotten engaged, noting that many of her most famous tracks were inspired by her past relationships and subsequent breakups.

“Yeah, but so what? No matter what, she’s gonna write a good song. It doesn’t matter who she’s dating,” QT rebutted, going on to point out that Swift has a massive discography full of other songs that aren’t about her love life.

“She does have a lot of songs about [her relationships], but so does every artist,” QT argued. “…I don’t like talking about Taylor Swift with you guys. I don’t enjoy it.”

QT then drew parallels between Taylor Swift fans and sports fans, challenging Will Neff to name his favorite New York Jets player and even who they’d dated, which he was able to answer on the spot.

Eventually, QT began mocking how she feels her co-hosts treat her whenever anything Taylor Swift-related comes up in conversation, resulting in an explosive retort that has taken over social media.

“It’s not exciting, like, ‘Oh my god, what flowers is she gonna have?’ You’re like, ‘Oh my god QT, did you sh*t yourself? Did you sh*t in your little pretty pants, you stupid little b*tch that loves Taylor Swift? Did you drink your pumpkin spice latte and kick your stupid little UGG boots in the air you dumb little f*cking c**t,’ is that what you say to me?”

(Topic begins at 36:00)

The moment went viral in the following days after the podcast was published, sparking a heated debate online regarding the treatment of Taylor Swift fans by male critics. One post containing a clip of the interaction garnered 18 million views in just five days.

“It’s really not even about Taylor Swift. You can’t just belittle someone if they like an artist, etc. Glad she crashed out like that,” one user wrote on X.

“Because men are so insufferable about women’s interests, y’all love to mock us to our faces and then get surprised when we react,” another argued.

“She’s so valid for that. They always make fun of her interests, but no one bats an eye when Will crashes out over the Jets,” another pointed out.

QT finally addressed the matter in a tweet on September 5, where she stood by her remarks and seemed surprised their spat had gone so viral.

“Did not expect this to get 17 million views,” she began. “I am but a girl that loves Taylor Swift and yelling at my friends for putting myself and her in a box. Check out our podcast and follow me if you wanna trade friendship bracelets.”

She replied to her post with a clip from a BBC interview with Taylor Swift, where the singer called out people who shame others for their interests.

“The worst kind of person is someone who makes someone feel bad, dumb, or stupid for being excited about something,” Swift said. “Worst type of person. I don’t think you should ever have to apologize for your excitement.”

Fans are rallying behind QT in support, while others seem to find the moment’s viral nature quite humorous, given her long-standing friendship with Hasan, Will, and Austin.

“You were right for standing on business!” one said.

“Please yell at them more, they need it. They didn’t even apologize, smh,” another wrote.

“QT clip-farmed so successfully,” yet another joked.

Thus far, neither Hasan, Will, nor Austin has made a public statement regarding the viral clip — but QT seems to have taken the victory this time, during which she’s also garnered praise for her recreation of the broomstick cake from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty.

Harvard Economist Who Predicted That Bitcoin Was More Likely to Hit $100 Than $100K Finally Speaks Out

by admin August 19, 2025

Kenneth Rogoff, professor of economics at Harvard University, has taken to the X social media network to address his awful Bitcoin call, which recently went viral on social media.

He has outlined the main reasons why his prediction went so terribly wrong, with the lack of “sensible” regulation being one of them.

$100,000 instead of $100

In March 2018, Rogoff told CNBC that Bitcoin was “a lot more likely” to plunge to $100 than surge to $10,000 a decade from then.

The economist insisted that the cryptocurrency was being primarily used for laundering money and evading taxes, arguing that it failed to gain significant traction as a transaction vehicle.

Back then, the esteemed Harvard professor, who has published several influential papers, argued that a global regulatory crackdown would make the price of the cryptocurrency plunge lower.

Back then, the cryptocurrency was coming off a massive bull run that propelled its price to nearly $20,000. In May 2018, however, the cryptocurrency was trading at just roughly $11,000 after a substantial correction. It went on to plunge to $3,112 in December 2018 following a truly brutal bear market.

Fast-forward to 2025, however, Bitcoin is now trading at $113,260 after recently reaching a new record high of $124,128.

Key reasons behind this terrible call

While addressing his horrible Bitcoin price prediction, Rogoff admitted that he was “far too optimistic” about the US “coming to its senses” about the necessity to rein in crypto with “sensible” regulation.

He also claims that he did not expect Bitcoin to compete with fiat currencies as a transaction medium.

Finally, he never expects regulators to fully embrace crypto while allegedly ignoring conflicts of interest.

So, where is Bitcoin heading next?

As reported by U.Today, commodity trader Peter Brandt previously claimed that there was a 30% chance that Bitcoin had peaked.

However, he now claims that such odds could be higher after Bitcoin recently plunged below $113,000, underperforming in tandem with the Nasdaq index.
