Spotify now lets you create seamless transitions between songs on your custom playlists

by admin August 19, 2025

Spotify routinely debuts new playlist features for its users, but the company’s latest update has the potential to dramatically alter custom mixes. Starting today, premium users will have access to a new tool for creating customized transitions within playlists. This will allow seamless progression from one track to the next, with natural-sounding changeovers and no awkward silence.

Once you’ve created a playlist, you’ll notice a Mix option on the toolbar. When selected, the tool gives you the option to pick Auto and allow Spotify to instantly make the transitions, or you can tap in further to customize things as you see fit. From there, you can choose presets like Fade or Rise to quickly apply transition styles or try specific changes to volume, EQ and effects. The app will display a waveform for the two songs, helping you select the best place to make the swap.

After making your transitions, you can save them for future use or for sharing with friends. And speaking of friends, the transition editor is available for collaboration on any playlists you build with your pals. Spotify allows you to toggle the Mix option on and off at any time, so you’re free to listen without any of that creative customization if needed.

To help you create a playlist that’s ready for mixing, Spotify will show you the tempo in BPMs (beats per minute) and Camelot keys for each song once you tap Mix. The company reminds users that the best options for this tool are songs that were created for seamless transitions, so genres like house and techno will provide the best results. Spotify also recommends using the Mix tool for making running playlists with consistent BPMs to help with pace or to create roadtrip playlists that can maintain “the vibe.” Lastly, you can create your own cover art for mixed playlists using Spotify’s built-in editor that debuted last fall.

Skate 4 Will Have 100 Songs And Support 150-Players Lobbies

by admin August 19, 2025

The next Skate game from EA, which is often called Skate 4 online by fans, is set to arrive via an early access launch later this year. And in a new blog from the devs behind the reboot, we learned that music is a big part of the upcoming skateboarding game and that a whole lotta people will be able to play it together online.

This new Skate game was first officially announced all the way back in June 2020. And over the years, the game has leaked numerous times while EA has also released official early footage of it and brought in fans to playtest it. The development of Skate (which is not called Skate 4 for some reason) has been remarkably transparent, and as part of this, developers Full Circle have released regular blog posts sharing new details about the reboot. And in the latest one, the devs shared a bunch of information on how music–a very important part of any good skateboarding game–will work in Skate.

🚨We will be inviting all registered skate. Insiders to come playtest in July. Check your emails.

In the most recent installment of “The Grind,” EA and Full Circle announced that Skate will launch with “about 100” songs. These songs will be grouped into different, themed playlists that will act like radio stations. Players will be free to like songs and create their own playlist of favorites. There will also be a playlist that will feature songs other players are listening to and liking, which will update over time. As for what kind of music to expect in Skate, Full Circle says the team is “focused on emerging artists” and that they included some “deep cuts” that the devs hope will help players “discover” new favorites.

EA and Full Circle also plan to add new songs to the game as it changes live-service seasons every three months. It also sounds like music that’s less popular with players might leave the game, but EA says it will make sure that the tracks you favorite and enjoy stick around in Skate “for longer.”

While losing music is a bit of a shame, I’m excited to hear devs promising regular music updates. With live-service games that players are expected to play for months or years, new music being added over time can help reinvigorate things. There are only so many times you can hear the same tunes over and over before starting to hate them. As someone who has played GTA Online for over a decade, trust me on this.

In the latest blog post, the devs also said that the team is aiming for about 150 players per server session. And yes, in case you forgot or weren’t aware, Skate is an always-online free-to-play skating game, so multiplayer is a big part of the equation. Over on Reddit, players who have been involved in playtesting have suggested that servers only supported 80 players during their time with the game, but that EA wanted to up that number to 150, which the blog confirms. 150 players is a lot, so hopefully Skate‘s open world is large enough to support all those skateboarding hooligans listening to music and popping kick flips.

Skate 4 aka the Skate reboot doesn’t have a specific release date yet, but EA says it will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via early access at the end of the summer.

EA’s upcoming Skate understands that the soundtrack is just as important as the gameplay, confirms over 100 songs

by admin August 18, 2025

When you think of skateboarding games, what is the first thing you think of? For me, it’s the music – whether it was being introduced to the impeccable drum work of Josh Freese in The Vandals’ Euro-Barge on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1, trying to get my voice as high as 3 Inches of Blood’s singer in Deadly Sinners in Tony Hawk’s Underground 2, or learning how to play Jack White’s part in Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine after hearing it in Skate, music is an integral part of these games.

The recent THPS 1+2 and 3+4 remasters understand this, and bring a nice mix of classic and modern music to the re-releases that (I think) represents what skate culture should always be about: honouring legacy and trying new stuff. EA’s upcoming Skate reboot seems to have got this brief, too, as today the publisher has announced that the game will have “over 100 songs” featured on the in-game soundtrack.

Pleasantly, these will vary from the likes of upcoming acts like Denzel Curry and Turnstile – yes, I know they’re four albums in, but they’re also only just breaking through to the mainstream – and more classic acts like MF Doom and Earth, Wind & Fire.

“[Skate will have] over 100 songs, with hits from emerging artists and deep cuts to help players discover new music as they skate through San Vansterdam,” reads a press release. “Each session stays fresh and high energy, and like San Vansterdam itself, the soundtrack will evolve with every season.”

Music licensing is a real pain for game developers; we’ve previously seen entire titles delisted from digital storefronts due to music licensing issues. By keeping the in-game track list fresh and changing it with the seasons, the publisher can better control what goes in and out of the game, and simply remove a track from rotation if the license expires. I think that’s also a better example of skate culture, to be honest: in my misspend adolescence in skate parks, I learned so much new, interesting music from listening to what the other skaters were blasting out of their crappy, battery-powered speakers hooked up to their iPods (I was just a bit too old for the boombox era, sadly).

So far, Little Simz and Skeggs are also mentioned for the soundtrack, but not a lot of other bands are confirmed yet. So that’s six out of – assumedly – 100 artists we’ve locked in. There’s plenty of scope for some really cool stuff to get in here. Just do me a favour, EA, and don’t include Lupe Fiasco’s Kick, Push. It’s been done to death at this point. If you want mellow, go for something like Brave Baby’s Plastic Skateboard, instead: it’s far better for those late night sessions on the concrete with your pals.

How to keep Featured and New tracks forever in Fortnite

To permanently add Fortnite Festival tracks to your collection, the only way is to purchase them for 500 V-Bucks in the Shop. This is your surefire method to access a song at any time, regardless of the current rotation. If you don’t buy them, the only other way to play a free song again is to wait until it appears as a Featured track in an upcoming rotation.

Given the Fortnite Festival song list isn’t overly extensive, there’s a good chance you’ll see songs reappear in the free rotation multiple times a week. You have to keep an eye on the list to not miss them!

No songs in Fortnite Festival? Causes and fixes

If you see no songs available on your list in the backstage of the Fortnite Festival, it’s probably a bug. You always have at least the daily free songs to play, even if you don’t own any Jam Tracks.

To fix the issue of seeing no songs in Fortnite Festival, close and open Fortnite again. This should solve your issues most of the time, as this error is usually a hiccup in your platform’s connection with Epic Games’ servers. Restarting the game will likely bring up the free songs list again. If it still doesn’t work, reset your PC or console and try again.

If the issue persists, Epic servers are likely facing a widespread issue, and you should check the Epic Status Page for further information.

Mario Kart World Features Over 200 Songs, And They’re All ‘Brand-New Arrangements’

by admin May 25, 2025

With Mario Kart World launching in just two weeks on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, Nintendo has released a four-part interview series diving deep into the game’s development. In the series, music lead Atsuko Asahi discusses the game’s score, developing tracks, and even the fact that more than 200 songs are featured in the Mario Kart World jukebox.

These 200 songs are all new arrangements, and they were recorded live, too, according to Asahi, and if they’re anywhere near as delightful on the ears as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s excellent jazz-infused score, we’re in for a treat.

“Altogether, over 200 for the ‘jukebox,’” Asahi said when asked about the total number of musical pieces in Mario Kart World. “These are all brand-new arrangements, and we also did live recordings. We prepared pieces from quite a wide variety of musical genres. I believe those who are well-versed in video game music, as well as those who aren’t, will enjoy listening to them.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Asahi is asked about the challenge of crafting background music and integrating tracks into Mario Kart World’s open world design. Asahi explained music for the designated courses came first, then the open world parts of the game.

“First, we created music for the courses like we’ve always done before and then thought about what to do for the roads outside the courses,” Asahi said. “We decided to have two different kinds of music depending on how you’re playing. For the Knockout Tour mode, we started off by simply trying to connect the course themes. But that approach didn’t work well. It ended up sounding weird because the tracks have different tempos and beats. So, we decided to find a way to end each of the course themes, even though they’re connected by the route.

“Video game music often plays on a loop, and in this game, too, the same music keeps playing if you’re driving laps around a course. But for Knockout Tour, as you get closer to the next course, the music transitions to the outro, so the theme ends nicely. We also created a new intro for each course theme, which starts to play shortly before you reach the gate, building excitement. Then, as you actually pass through the gate, it changes to the theme of the course you’ve entered. By repeating this, it feels like a medley is playing along to you live, creating a sense of immersion.”

For other modes in Mario Kart World, like the open world Free Roam, Asahi said the team prepared lots of music in addition to the course tracks, and that the game automatically selects the right track depending on the situation. During development, the team referred to this carousel of music as the “jukebox,” and that’s how the jukebox feature made it into Mario Kart World.

Mario Kart World launches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5.

For more, read about how Nintendo considered dropping the resolution and frame rate of Mario Kart World before changing development to Switch 2. After that, read about how Nintendo says there are more than 100 courses in Mario Kart World, and then check out Game Informer’s 2025 Switch 2 video game release schedule list.

Disney’s 23 Best And Most Memorable Songs Ever, Ranked

by admin May 24, 2025

Phil Collins knocked it out of the park with the entire Tarzan soundtrack. Somehow his earthy voice, drum-infused instrumentals, and heartfelt lyrics were the perfect mix for this jungle story. Rather than a traditional Disney musical, Phil Collins acts as an omnipresent narrator, commenting on the action or voicing the character’s thoughts. “You’ll Be In My Heart” rightfully earned the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Originally written as a lullaby for his own daughter, the song starts off tender, with Phil Collins almost gently whispering against soft marimbas.

Its lyrics of true love and devotion are moving, especially in the scene where Kala sings it to a baby Tarzan, who, despite being a different species, experiences a bond where love and care know no bounds. The song eventually crashes into driving drums, moving toward a bridge that sees the child fly free on their own: “When destiny calls you / You must be strong / I may not be with you / But you’ve got to hold on.” This song is touching for anyone who has ever loved someone and watched them grow, no matter what type of relationship.
