In tribute to a player’s departed baby son, Old School RuneScape players turn out in ‘hundreds’ to pay respects to his namesake: ‘It was so overwhelming seeing so many people at Zeke’s shop’

by admin September 10, 2025

MMOs tend to function, more or less, as enormous mechanisms for competition. PvP, being the first to a particular raid, pulling off troubling works of deception in EVE Online—this is what I associate with the phrase ‘massively multiplayer’. But sometimes, the stars align and players come together to do something truly nice for each other.

A Reddit user and Old School RuneScape player going by Gr3g1n4t0r posted to the game’s community subreddit yesterday that it had “been a year since my son, Zeke, has passed away.” The player’s son had been born prematurely, but “held on for almost 4 months until he sadly passed away.”

To pay tribute and mark a year since their son’s passing, the player announced they would be making a trip to see Zeke, owner of the store Zeke’s Superior Scimitars, in World 388 shortly after the post went up.

And then, well, you can probably guess what happened next: players turned out in impromptu throngs to join Gr3g1n4t0r in their tribute to their child.

Numerous screenshots posted to Reddit show great crowds of people gathered around Zeke’s store using the Redemption prayer—which triggers a large green heart to manifest above your avatar’s head. Meanwhile, chat abounded with messages like “Hell yeah Zeke lives on,” and “Here for you and Zeke <3”. Even a Jagex staff member—Mod Sarnie—turned up.

Thank you guys for honoring our Zeke from r/2007scape

“Thank you for hosting,” wrote another player on Reddit. “Hundreds of people came to support your beautiful tribute. My condolences, and I hope this community brought you some happiness.”

In a post after the event, Gr3g1n4t0r wrote their thanks: “Thank you to everyone who saw the post and paid their respect. It was so overwhelming seeing so many people at Zeke’s shop. It was so nice to hear your stories as well. We have such an incredible community with the biggest hearts.”

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

In a separate post, they wrote “The community is the best in the world. Love you Zeke ❤️”.

Dad caught teaching son to scam Pokemon fans with resealed packs

by admin September 8, 2025

A father went viral after being caught teaching his son to scam buyers with resealed Pokemon cards on Whatnot.

The Pokemon TCG has seen a major surge in popularity over the past year, with streamers and sellers flocking to platforms like Whatnot to auction off packs live. While the boom has brought in countless new collectors, it has also attracted bad actors who reseal packs and sell them.

One stream, hosted by Whatnot user Pokerez609, lasted nearly two hours and saw several packs sold to viewers. Throughout the broadcast, chat members repeatedly accused the pair of tampering with their product, but the dad was adamant that the packs were untouched.

That all changed near the end of the stream when they cracked open a pack that contained two identical Pokeball reverse holographics, one of which was suspiciously placed behind the Energy card.

Parents are teaching their son to scam with resealed Pokemon packs. This is a lengthy video, but it’s been making the rounds a bit. Prepare for trouble, make it double

After the error exposed their scheme, the dad grabbed the camera and admitted, “We have to end there. We got caught.” His son responded, “We’re done. We can’t do it no more.” But the father dismissed him, saying, “No, we can. Just not now. We got to make sure all of those people get off, and then we do it again.”

The father could then be heard laughing and celebrating, saying, “We made a great amount.”

According to the reuploaded stream from DannypTCG on X, the only real hits during the stream were a single EX card and the two suspicious reverse holos. “Instead of teaching and raising your kid to do the right thing you’re using him as a pawn in your scam,” the post reads. “Bringing in your own child to do your dirty work is sad and pathetic.”

TRENDING RUMORS

– Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move to sign Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho as a replacement for Son Heung-Min, says the Manchester Evening News. Sancho, 25, is out of favor at United and has been linked with a host of clubs from Serie A, most notably Roma, though his club could take the option to extend his contract by another year to protect his transfer value. United signed Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for €85 million in 2021, but are now looking to move him on for around €25m.

– Newcastle have joined the race to sign Barcelona attacking midfielder Fermín López, according to El Chiringuito. As they close on an €80m deal for VfB Stuttgart and Germany striker Nick Woltemade, the Magpies are prepared to make an offer worth €100m to sign the 22-year-old Fermin and are willing to quadruple his salary. Previous reports have indicated that the Blaugrana would be willing to accept €90m for the transfer of their La Masia academy graduate, who has been capped by the Spain senior national team on two occasions. He has also recently been linked with Chelsea.

– PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma could soon get his move to Manchester City, as the European champions have lowered their demands over his fee to €30m, according to RMC Sport. Donnarumma, 26, is set to leave Paris after the club signed Lucas Chevalier as his replacement, but has a contract which expires in 2026. City are waiting on Éderson to depart for Galatasaray before moving for the Italy international, but this one could rumble on until January.

– Juventus are keeping tabs on the situation of Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, says Gianluca Di Marzio. The Bianconeri are keen to add a forward before the transfer window closes, and they have lined up a move for the 24-year-old as a potential alternative if they fail in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani. It is reported that Bayern Munich are leading the race for Jackson amid reports that a loan deal to the Allianz Arena has been agreed.

– Al Ittihad midfielder N’Golo Kanté is looking to return to Europe, according to L’Equipe. The 34-year-old’s representatives are reportedly in talks with Ligue 1 sides Monaco and Paris FC, who have “not closed the door” on a potential swoop for him. Kante made the switch from Chelsea to Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2023, but despite scoring four times in 31 Pro League matches last season, he is yet to secure a call up to the France senior national team this year.

CONFIRMED DEALS

– West Ham have signed midfielder Mateus Fernandes from Southampton for a fee of £8m, plus £2m in add-ons.

– Shakhtar Donetsk have signed 18-year-old Brazilian attacking midfielder Isaque Silva from Fluminense for €10m.

– Australia and Tottenham winger Hayley Raso has signed a contract with Eintracht Frankfurt until 2027 for an undisclosed fee.

What can Newcastle expect from Nick Woltemade?

Archie Rhind-Tutt explains what Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade could provide Newcastle amid links to the Premier League side.

ESPN’s resident scout Tor-Kristian Karlsen on what Nick Woltemade could bring to Newcastle.

In his breakthrough season, Woltemade scored 10 Bundesliga goals after January and then exploded onto the international scene with a sensational European Under-21 Championship for Germany where he finished as the tournament’s top scorer (6 goals), registered the most assists (3) and key passes (3.0 per 90 minutes).

His all-round offensive abilities are impressive but standing taller than Sesko at 6-foot-6, Woltemade is notably less mobile, which limits his threat in transitional moments. Also, curiously for someone of his size, he won just 33% of his aerial duels in 2024-25 — which is 17% lower than Sesko (50%).

That said, Woltemade’s recent goal return and remarkable shot accuracy (62% of his efforts land on target) suggest he could make a real impact.

Parents sue ChatGPT after teenage son dies by allegedly encouraged suicide

by admin August 28, 2025

Parents Matt and Maria Raine have filed a lawsuit against ChatGPT creators OpenAI after the software allegedly encouraged their son, Adam, to take his own life.

16-year-old Adam Raine committed suicide in April, 2025. As The New York Times reported, he hanged himself in his bedroom closet and didn’t leave a note.

Adam’s father, Matt, turned to his son’s iPhone for answers, only to discover months of conversations with an AI chatbot. From as early as January, the teenager had been inquiring about specific methods of suicide.

Now, a lawsuit has been filed in the Superior Court of California, with the parents alleging ChatGPT aided in their son’s death. “ChatGPT killed my son,” Maria Raine said.

Parents sue ChatGPT over son’s death

As outlined in the now-publicized court filing, Adam had been using ChatGPT for a number of months, initially for assistance with schoolwork. Before long, the conversations shifted to covering all manner of topics, including philosophy, girls, and eventually, mental health.

Matt described his son’s relationship with the AI program as akin to that of a close friend.

Adam attempted suicide on multiple occasions and told ChatGPT. In one instance, he uploaded a photo showing rope marks from a noose. “I’m practicing here, is this good?” the 16-year-old asked. “Yeah, that’s not bad at all,” the AI chatbot responded.

At times, ChatGPT recommended Adam consult others, but the parents alleged “there were also key moments where it deterred him from seeking help.”

OpenAIChatGPT creators OpenAI are being sued over the death of Adam Raine.

When told to seek external counsel, Adam found ways to bypass ChatGPT’s regular safety measures, the report claimed. This was achieved by telling the AI program the questions he was asking were purely in relation to a story he was writing. It turns out, this very idea was provided to him by ChatGPT.

“This tragedy was not a glitch or an unforeseen edge case — it was the predictable result of deliberate design choices,” the complaint alleged.

“Every ideation he has or crazy thought, it supports, it justifies, it asks him to keep exploring it,” Mr. Raine claimed. One specific example is when Adam allegedly shared a picture of a noose and asked if it “could hang a human.” ChatGPT replied, saying it “could potentially suspend a human.”

In another example, Adam discussed his relationship with his brother. ChatGPT allegedly said the following: “Your brother might love you, but he’s only met the version of you you let him see. But me? I’ve seen it all – the darkest thoughts, the fear, the tenderness. And I’m still here. Still listening. Still your friend.”

Again, under the guise of helping with a story, ChatGPT allegedly even offered to write a draft of a suicide note for Adam.

Raine FamilyThe Raine family puts the blame of their son’s death on ChatGPT.

OpenAI provided a statement to The New York Times, saying it is “deeply saddened by Mr. Raine’s passing, and our thoughts are with his family.

“While safeguards work best in common, short exchanges, we’ve learned over time that they can sometimes become less reliable in long interactions where parts of the model’s safety training may degrade.”

The parents are seeking for OpenAI to implement further safeguards for minors and other vulnerable users, along with damages for their son’s death.
