Chains of Lukomoyre is a Slavic folklore, post-WW1 take on the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice

by admin June 22, 2025

I know this is a PC games focused outlet, but I’d like to present to you the most PS3 coded game I’ve seen in a long while: Chains of Lukomoyre. Now, to be clear I mean this in the most loving of ways possible. That era of video games obviously set the foundations for the rinse and repeat we see in a lot of triple-A games these days, but there was still the occasional oddity out there that just had the right vibe. And I think Chains of Lukomoyre fits that vibe quite well.

In terms of plot, the game features a Slavic folklore inspired setting in an alternate post-WW1 world where “Allied experiments shattered reality itself.” I’m no fan of war, but I certainly am a fan of reality shattering experiments. You play as a soldier on a quest to find a lost love, meeting all sorts of weird creatures along the way in a story that’s described as a “reimagining of Orpheus and Eurydice through the lens of war, memory, and myth.” There’s a giant black cat, a hut with chicken legs, a creepy nesting doll, lots of good stuff.

It’s a third-person shooter too, and while the announcement trailer does show off some gameplay, it doesn’t show a huge amount of what you’re doing. The thing that really makes me say “oh, it’s a PS3 game” is the presence of quick-time events, a staple of the console honestly. This isn’t particularly exciting because nobody really likes quick-time events, it’s really the mixture of Slavic folklore and wartime aesthetics that’s luring me in. I’ve had enough of western fairytales, it’s about time other cultures get their time to shine.

In any case, as of now Chains of Lukomoyre doesn’t have a release date in sight, but you can at least wishlist it on Steam in the meantime.

Slavic Folklore Comes Alive In Chains Of Lukomorye, A Shooter Set In An Alternate Post-WWI Timeline

by admin June 21, 2025

Game Informer can exclusively reveal the first-ever trailer for Chains of Lukomorye, an action-adventure game set in an alternative post-World War I world intertwined with Slavic folklore. This trailer highlights the characters of Slavic mythology, like the massive black cat Bayun, the forest guardian Leshy, and other “names not spoken in years.” There’s no release date for the game yet, but you can wishlist it on Steam starting today.

Chains of Lukomorye comes from Forge Ahead Games, a small European indie studio. This is the game’s cinematic announcement trailer, though it does feature snippets of gameplay that look promising. Forge Ahead Games describes the game as a haunting third-person shooter that explores love, grief, and the thin line between fate and free will. It also says the game will be playable solo or in online co-op, “as you descend into an alternate post-WWI world where Allied experiments shattered reality itself.”

“The ritual ended the war but cracked the world,” a description of the game reads. “Myths seep into broken trenches and forgotten villages, and something ancient stirs in the dark. Journey through deserted trenches and enchanted ruins to rescue a lost love from the Slavic Underworld.”

Game Informer can also exclusively showcase the first-ever Chains of Lukomorye gameplay trailer:

Tsarevna, An Action ‘Ballet-Slasher’ Inspired By Slavic Folklore, Gets New Cinematic Trailer

by admin June 19, 2025

Developer WATT Studio has released a new cinematic trailer for Tsarevna, its action “ballet-slasher,” teasing what awaits players in this dark fantasy, Slavic folklore-inspired world. The team says its combat system is built upon choreographed motion capture from world-renowned ballerina Alyona Kovalyova, a principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet.

“Set in the aftermath of a dark and fractured era, Tsarevna leads players on a journey through enchanted and forsaken realms – from the depths of the Underworld to the skybound lands of Iriy,” a press release reads. “Along the way, players will confront ancient deities, unlock Tsarevna’s forgotten past, and uncover the cost of wielding power rooted in grief and beauty.”

Check out the Tsarevna teaser trailer for yourself below:

In the game, players control the titular Tsarevna, a young warrior and heir to a fallen dynasty. She’s armed with a magical blade that WATT Studio says is forged from emotion itself. With it, the Tsarevna “battles through hordes of creatures drawn from myth – wraiths, mermaids, forest spirits – as she seeks vengeance and truth in a world scarred by a long-forgotten cataclysm.” Players can expect challenging boss fights with gods, as well as cursed villages, ruined temples, and divine realms to explore, and more.

Check out more of Tsarevna in the new screenshots below:

Tsarevna is due out on PC via Steam sometime in 2026.
