Water is wet, the sky is blue, and Call of Duty Black Ops 7’s beta has cheaters

by admin October 3, 2025

Lo, when we perform the great ritual to open the Call of Duty Black Ops 7 beta, the cheaters will come. That’s what Activision said a few days ago, more or less. Hark, friends and foes enveloped in tactical gear and the occasional goofy crossover skin, it’s now a few days later and the cheatening is upon us. It arrived with the beta going live, just as prophesised.

Cue posts like the one above, from helpless souls caught in the frothing swirl of the cheatening maelstrom. And cue responses from Activision’s powerful anti-cheat druids, writing of these foretold ritual side-effects things like: “This clip was from earlier today. The account was already banned.”

The bearded warders against the likes of wallhacks and aimbotting have even broken out a powerful magical artefact, the hammer emoji of reassurance, in their responses to clips like this, a number of which went viral on the tweeter last night. Reddit, as a far as I can tell, looks relatively free of such clippage or anger about cheating, which is a sign of the end times if I’ve ever seen one.

It’s at this point that Activision would want us all to take solace in their prediction from this blog post a few days ago, AKA the prophecy I paraphrased earlier. “Cheaters will try to test the limits during the Beta,” it read. “That’s exactly what we want because #TeamRICOCHET is here, watching, learning, and removing them as they appear. Any account permanently banned for cheating during the Beta will be banned across all Call of Duty titles, from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to future releases.”

Obviously, this isn’t an affliction unique to Call of Duty. As James eloquently outlined when Battlefield 6’s beta was similarly afflicted by cheating, despite both it and Blops 7 seeing studios take the extra step of making it mandatory for PC players to enable secure boot in an effort to curb tech-savvy tricksters. The debate is whether continuing to take more and more measures like that in an effort to whack whatever persistent cheating moles keep popping up or slipping through the array of defenses already assembled is worth any inconvenience caused to those playing fairly as a result.

It’s a delicate balance to strike, and where you stand on the issue may well depend on just how many cheaters you’ve happened to run into in online games over the years and the situations in which those encounters happened. In Black Ops 7’s case, there’s also arguably a little bit of irony in Activion’s strong stance, due to the ability to temporarily see and shoot foes through several layers of wall, a bit like some cheats allow you to do permanently, actually being in the game as a killstreak reward.

Anyway, I await Black Ops 7’s full release on November 14th, at which point I prophesise that the cheating chatter will emerge once more. That’s provided the round of cheat chatter prompted by Battlefield 6’s arrival on October 10th has actually managed to dissipate by mid-November.

15 Amazing No Man’s Sky Ship Builds You Have To See

by admin October 2, 2025

No Man’s Sky continues to impress with its regular updates, and the most recent one was surely one of the most eventful. That’s because it allows players to build massive ships of their own design, with fully explorable interiors, resulting in some epic ships their creators are sharing across the internet.

If you frequent NMS spaces online, you’ve likely seen some of these. But whether you’re a regular spacefarer or it’s been some time since you’ve taken a look at Hello Games’ vast and ever-improving galaxy, I invite you to have a gander at some of the most impressive ship builds out there.

From Star Wars to The Matrix, five awesome recreations of famous ships

Give folks the ability to make stuff in a video game and you’ll quickly see recreations of beloved people, places, or things from TV shows, film, and other games. In No Man’s Sky, that mostly means ships, and there are tons of excellent recreations of famous ships out there in the NMS galaxy. Here are five standouts.

John_Dog_’s Millennium Falcon from Star Wars

It was hard to not just fill this list up with Star Wars recreations. Though it required a bit of glitching to make happen, this Falcon is one of the most accurate I’ve seen.

Own–Astronomer-1296’s Sea Duck from Duck Tales

Maybe this one technically belongs in the collection of sillier ships you’ll find below, but given how ships can now land on water, there’s a satisfying fusion of form and function in this Duck Tales recreation.

Due_Willow_137’s Pyramid ship from Destiny 2

No, this is not a screenshot from Destiny 2, though it sure as hell looks like one.

solidsharkey’s Eagle 5 from Space Balls

Having spent countless weeks traveling and living out of a van myself, I’ve often dreamed of having my own Eagle 5 to just cruise space with.

AcoupleofIrishfolk’s Nebuchadnezzar from The Matrix

While the exterior design of this recreation of Morpheus’ ship from The Matrix looks sick, it’s the faithfully recreated interior, complete with screens and cables running everywhere, that really sold this build for me.

Five sick original ship builds

It’s wild how flexible NMS’ shipbuilding system is. I’ve particularly enjoyed seeing builds that deliver on aesthetics not normally found in Hello Games’ otherwise kinda cartoony presentation.

Barbed-Wire’s ‘Lived-in’ corvette

Maybe I just have a thing for living out of vehicles? I’d call this place home.

schmacobinc’s ‘Biblically Accurate’ corvette

This one caught my eye immediately. And it’s a fantastic example of the wacky and weird shit you can kitbash together in NMS.

Leteramma’s ‘Trash Ship’

There are plenty of OG ship creations that look fit for the cover of some space opera novel. And this “Trash Ship” looks like it has a story all to itself.

Beckhaver’s ‘Mini Salve Outrider with Trailer’

I love the simplicity and originality of this two-part build. It uses some fancier build techniques to pull off, but it looks so worth it.

Lopsided_Wealth_7968’s ‘Desert Hovercraft’

A sick-looking spacecraft with outdoor seating for some scenic views? The sandworms won’t catch you here (I hope).

Five…creative ship builds

Folks will always recreate cool things and come up with wild designs of their own…but then, well, then there’s everything else. Enjoy the silliness.

AcoupleofIrishfolk’s interstellar Clippy

He’s probably just as annoying in space as he is in a word processor.

murderwastheface’s starside Slayer performance

Slayer is far from my favorite metal band (I saw them live with Primus a few years ago and Primus was so much better), but I appreciate the creativity.

Huzbubber_Tim’s forklift corvette

Maybe this belongs in the recreation category as it looks like a more capable version of the driveable forklift from Halo Reach.

AcoupleofIrishfolk’s Thomas the Tank Engine

Obligatory.

Due_Willow_137’s ‘Larry the Lobster’

I can’t tell if this is an SNL or a Spongebob reference. Either way, it’s a sick build.

Whether you opt to rely on straightforward shipcrafting or you mix in a little bit of glitching, NMS’ ship- and corvette-building tools offer some really wild options for the impassioned virtual space mechanic. I’m sure this won’t be the only time I’ll be compelled to round up some highlights.

SoftBank beams 5G to phones from the sky in successful stratospheric test flight

by admin September 21, 2025

SoftBank successfully delivered end-to-end 5G connectivity to standard smartphones using an airborne base station, in a live field trial conducted in June, above Hachijō Island, Japan. The company used a light aircraft flying at 3,000 meters to simulate a high-altitude platform, linking ground infrastructure to devices via a 26 GHz feeder connection and a 1.7 GHz service link.

Unlike most “direct-to-device” projects that rely on satellites in low Earth orbit, SoftBank’s approach uses High-Altitude Platform Stations (HAPS) that hover in the stratosphere, about 20 kilometers up. That altitude brings big advantages like lower latency and fewer of the power and Doppler challenges that present challenges to orbital links. According to SoftBank, the service link in the trial operated on the 1.7 GHz band, which is already supported by most 5G phones sold around the world.

The aircraft-mounted payload used beamforming to create six directional cells fixed in place on the ground, even as the aircraft flew a circular holding pattern overhead. The system automatically shifted beam coverage every 60 degrees of rotation, emulating the behavior of a future stratospheric platform while proving that stable cellular coverage is possible with real-world mobility.

SoftBank’s radio stack links a mmWave backhaul from ground to aircraft with a sub-2 GHz link from aircraft to user, stitching together the entire 5G core chain. That design means HAPS nodes can act as intelligent base stations, not just repeaters or relays. The company also validated Doppler correction, automatic power control, and adaptive beam tracking, all of which are required for commercial service in the sky.

Compared to satellite-to-cell systems like AST SpaceMobile’s LEO-based platform, which previously demonstrated a 5G call from space, HAPS can cover wide areas with lower path loss and better spectrum reuse. And thanks to recent ITU decisions at WRC-23, operators like SoftBank can now deploy HAPS in terrestrial mobile bands, including 700 MHz, 850 MHz, 1.7 GHz, and 2.5 GHz.

SoftBank’s work could lead to 5G service in places where towers don’t reach, like disaster zones, offshore waters, or remote islands. The company hasn’t said when it will scale this to a full commercial launch, but the technical foundation is here, at least in theory.

Trails In The Sky 1st Chapter Review – A Glorious Return To The Beginning

by admin September 17, 2025

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter finally addresses a major dilemma for newcomers considering getting into Falcom’s epic industrial fantasy saga. While the Trails series has consisted of different arcs set in different parts of the continent of Zemuria that you could start from, when its overarching storyline and continuity spans titles released over two decades, where better to begin than the very first chapter?

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter successfully remakes the game and brings it in line with the standards of a Trails game in 2025, while preserving its original story. This is not a bloated reimagining–Trails titles have already been well-regarded for having a wealth of text, so it’s not like a remake would benefit from more fleshing out–but sticks to all of the original story beats, along with a revised localization that’s also closer in style to the Japanese text. There are some new lines too, mostly to fill the silences during exploration, but still not quite the same undertaking of localizing a new script from scratch, which is usually why previous Trails games have taken longer to reach the West.

Just like the original, 1st Chapter begins with 11 year-old Estelle waiting for her father Cassius to arrive home, only to find he’s brought with him an injured orphaned boy named Joshua who’s also her age. Fast-forwarding five years later, he’s part of the family and the pair are following in their father’s footsteps to become bracers: heroic warriors serving and protecting their communities by exterminating dangerous monsters and helping with odd jobs. But besides going from town to town in the kingdom of Liberl and doing good deeds to increase their bracer rank, Estelle and Joshua become embroiled in one mystery after another, from political corruption to kidnappings, culminating in a vast conspiracy beyond what they could have imagined.

Although the world of Trails has rich and complex world-building, 1st Chapter frames it from a more naive perspective of traditional do-gooders, contrasting with later entries that explore more morally gray territory, but it’s fitting for a coming-of-age story that also has one of the sweetest romantic subplots that gently creeps up on you. Getting to experience the story from Estelle’s earnest and feisty perspective, just as prone to goofy outbursts as she is to show compassion, as she learns the ways of the world and her heart, she’s still one of the most well-written female protagonists in a JRPG, while her close bond with Joshua is one of the game’s most memorable qualities. They’re complemented with a delightful cast of companions who also have different facets to their personality, like Scherazard, the big-sister bracer who also loves to indulge in alcohol, while some may be more than who they say they are, such as the overly flirtatious bard Olivier.

These characters are all wonderfully realized with modern visuals that are in line with the modern Trails games, including a dynamic range of camera angles so you can actually see the animated expressions on everyone’s faces as if you’re watching an anime. A stage production performed during a school festival in the game’s midpoint is a particular highlight that evokes so much more than what chibi sprites and text boxes with static character portraits were able to before.

Although much of the cast have already had the sprite-to-3D glow-up, having appeared in later entries of the series, they’ve still never looked as good as they do in 1st Chapter thanks to the aesthetic decision to render them with vibrant cel-shading. That same care also goes into the rest of the supporting cast, as well as even the numerous NPCs in each town, many named and usually with new lines of dialogue from when you speak to them later in a chapter compared to when you spoke to them earlier. It’s only a shame that in incorporating voice acting–available in both English and Japanese–it’s still only partially voiced. That’s understandable for optional side quests, but it also means during the story the voice acting is suddenly gone or only one of the character’s lines are voiced.

The modern benefits extend to exploration and combat. While towns are faithfully realized from the original, from the harbor city of Ruan to the royal capital of Grancel, the long, winding roads that seamessly connect themare much improved with a wide-linear design and different elevations, allowing for more exploration as opposed to just traversing a glorified corridor. This is also aided by the ability to fast-travel or turn on high-speed mode if you just want to race across areas and complete quests, then report back to the local Bracer Guild to steadily increase your rank. Fast travel is still limited to the region you’re in during a given chapter, so you won’t be able to fast-travel back to earlier locations while side quests also expire if you don’t complete them by the time the story progresses.

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter successfully remakes the game and brings it in line with the standards of a Trails game in 2025

Combat is the big night-and-day difference, as 1st Chapter takes the hybrid approach introduced in 2024’s Trails Through Daybreak, where you can switch between real-time action and turn-based commands, which also includes team-based attacks from 2015’s Trails of Cold Steel. The action approach naturally reduces grinding and isn’t just a mindless hack-and-slash. Last-second dodges instantly charge up a gauge for you to perform more powerful attacks–it’s also still feasible and readable when played in high-speed mode. But what makes the hybrid system work effectively is that you also have incentives to switch to commands, such as after stunning an enemy, which gives you a preemptive advantage. Whereas action combat is better suited to a single enemy, in turn-based mode, you have access to commands that are more effective against multiple enemies, such as special attacks with area-of-effect damage that can be a circle, an arc, or a line, while some enemies are also more susceptible to elemental arts rather than physical attacks.

That can sometimes trivialize turn-based battles since it’s easy to build up party members’ CP used for unleashing special attacks–including the flashy S-Crafts with over-the-top animations that spend the full gauge–and BP for team attacks during quick battles and then switch to commands when you’ve filled your stock and unleash the most powerful attacks right away.

That doesn’t mean 1st Chapter is a cakewalk, as you’ll still be locked into the traditional battles in special encounters such as boss fights, where you’ll need to make use of different tactics. Being able to move party members around the field of battle is important for avoiding enemy’s area-of-effect attacks but also so that you can also set your own for attacking enemies or supporting allies. While you can see turn orders on the side of the screen, it also helps to use abilities that can interrupt or delay someone’s turn too. As part of its fiction where there have been huge advances in technology coming from mysterious Orbal energy, used for powering everything from escalators to airships, it’s also reflected in the magical Arts you wield. Similar to Final Fantasy 7’s Materia, Orbment devices can be fitted with quartz, their colors also denoting a specific element or power, such as blue for water and healing-based arts, red for attack and fire-based arts, or yellow for earth and defense-based arts; the higher level the quartz or the more of the same colored quartz you insert, the more high-level arts that can be used.

Ultimately however, when the engaging story, characters, and worldbuilding is the strongest aspect of a Trails game, it’s less concerned with challenging you with finding the right build or strategy. There are plenty of difficulty options, and if you fall to a tough boss, you also have the option to retry with their strength reduced, so you’re unlikely to face a roadblock from progressing the story because you’re underleveled. Party management is also not a concern as party members come and go as dictated by the narrative. That does mean if you have your favourites, you may not get to invest as much time in them as you’d like, aside from Estelle and Joshua, who are an inseparable duo throughout.

As faithfully one-to-one as the remake is, there is a downside that means there isn’t new gameplay content if you’ve experienced the story before. Any activities you find, such as cooking recipes (which do include new cooking animations), are what were in the original game, including moments you’re given multiple choices to respond to. While it’s still an interesting way to gauge your judgement as a bracer, it would have been better to update it to something more meaningful, so that you’re also rewarded with more than just bonus BP, which is easy to build up during quick battles anyway.

If 1st Chapter is a bit lighter and less complex than its later iterations, then that is also in keeping in the spirit of the original game as the beginning of an epic saga. If you’ve always wanted to experience the wonder of the Trails series but didn’t know where to start, then there are no excuses as this faithful remake is the definitive way to begin that long and winding trail. Hopefully, the remake of its second chapter follows up swiftly.

Sky (MakerDAO) Joins Hyperliquid’s USDH Stablecoin Issuance Race

by admin September 9, 2025

The crypto industry is buzzing with Hyperliquid’s planned USDH stablecoin issuance, which has led to a bidding war between various protocols. While Paxos, Frax, Agora, and Native Markets were already pushing to power USDH, Sky had now also joined the race on Monday with a plan that made use of its $8 billion balance sheet.

Previously known as MakerDAO, Sky is already managing USDS and DAI stablecoins, worth around $13 billion, making it the fourth and fifth largest stablecoin issuers.

In a post on X, Rune Christensen, one of the founders of Sky, said, “By using Sky to power USDH, the Hyperliquid community will gain unbeatable advantages that no other stablecoin project can offer.”

USDH powered by Sky

The best stablecoin offers so much more than just a stable medium of exchange – it should also deliver highly efficient returns, generated by actively developing, building and growing the ecosystem it lives in.

By using Sky to power USDH, the Hyperliquid…

— Rune (@RuneKek) September 8, 2025

Christensen also proposed notable terms, including 4.85% returns on all USDH held in Hyperliquid. This rate is higher than the current yields on Treasury bills. The money will go toward buying back HYPE tokens and the platform’s Assistance Fund.

Sky’s plan includes $2.2 billion in instant redemption liquidity through the protocol’s Peg Stability Module. This feature lets big traders quickly convert USDH at scale. The firm also says it will invest $25 million in “Hyperliquid Genesis Star” to help get DeFi development going on the platform. The protocol plans to move its buyback engine, which makes more than $250 million a year, to Hyperliquid.

The Competition is Tough

As a leading decentralized perpetual exchange, Hyperliquid has over $5.5 billion in USDC deposits, which is about 7.5% of the stablecoin’s total supply.

Apart from Sky, four other protocols in the race have also pushed forward favorable terms for issuing USDH stablecoin. These are Paxos, Frax, Agora, and Native Markets. Paxos has promised 95% of reserved earnings and zero fees for USDC migration, while Agora has pledged 100% of net revenue for HYPE buybacks.

Meanwhile, Native Markets, which was the first protocol to send a proposal for USDH, promises a share of the reserve proceeds to Hyperliquid’s Assistance Fund, minting within the ecosystem, and following the rules. Frax Finance is a community-based model that gives users back 100% of the treasury’s profits. This arrangement is different from Sky’s revenue-sharing model.

An on-chain vote on September 14, 2025, will decide the outcome for the Hyperliquid community. The vote is one of the most closely watched developments in DeFi this year because whichever protocol wins the deal will have a huge amount of power in the stablecoin market.

This No Man’s Sky Version Of The Office Is Incredible

by admin September 8, 2025

A big new update for No Man’s Sky launched recently, adding the ability to create custom ships, but another custom creation is getting a lot of attention this week: a recreation of the office space from the popular NBC comedy The Office.

Redditor Ok_Misterpiece_9363 (via Kotaku) showed off their epic creation on Reddit this week, drawing heaps of praise in part of the very impressive attention to detail on display in the work. All the basics are recreated, of course, like the general layout of the office and the desks. The downstairs warehouse is there, too.

But this user-created space really shines with the finer points, like two chairs on the roof to signify where Jim and Pam watched fireworks together, along with the snowman-like sculptures in the parking lot where Jim was terrorized by Dwight.

It also includes a radar speed sign outside and multiple people standing around it, mirroring that time Michael ran a humanly impossible 31 mph. These smaller details aren’t in the flyover video embedded below, but can be found in the creation itself and shared by the creator in comments posted on Reddit.

This is just the latest example of the immense creativity of No Man’s Sky players, and you don’t have to look hard to find more. Game creator Sean Murray highlighted some of his favorite No Man’s Sky custom ship builds this week, including a ship modeled after Thomas the Tank engine and even himself.

As for The Office, the show’s spin-off series The Paper is out now on Peacock. The show follows the same in-universe documentary crew that made The Office, but this time they’re making a documentary about a struggling newspaper and the efforts to revitalize it. The show stars Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore, all episodes are out now, and a second season has already been ordered.

No Man’s Sky Fan Rebuilds The Office

by admin September 6, 2025

The grounded, relatable setting of a certain paper distributor in Scranton, Pennsylvania might be the furthest thing one could imagine from the endless, procedurally generated galaxy of No Man’s Sky, but one virtual space explorer has put some serious digital elbow grease into recreating The Office’s iconic setting. It’s a delight to check out for fans of the show or for those who appreciate some solid base building in Hello Games’ massive space sim.

The replica’s creator, user Ok_Misterpiece_9363, showed it off on Reddit where it’s amassed more than 14,000 upvotes and tons of excited comments filled with Office memes from fans impressed by how faithfully the Scranton-based office space and warehouse has been reproduced.

What’s really neat about this office recreation is how much of the building and the experience of traveling through this space it captures. Having visited many Dunder Mifflin recreations in games like VRchat myself, I’m typically used to just seeing the main floor where most of the show’s action takes place. But this NMS version lets you walk in from the ground floor and, with a quick teleport jump, you can then explore the main office suite, the “annex” area, and even take a quick trip down to the warehouse.

Those who know the fictional office well might be able to spot a few omissions and quirks, however. Intern-turned-fraudster-turned-hipster Ryan is missing his closet office from the later seasons; the conference room leads directly to the warehouse (there’s a corridor behind it instead on the actual set of the show); and speaking of the warehouse, it doesn’t look much like what we’d seen in nine seasons of the celebrated comedy.

These deviations aside, this is an undeniably cute homage to a beloved comedy, filled with references to various memorable moments such as Pam and Jim’s rooftop date, the speedometer race scene from an episode in season five, and more.

If you want to visit galactic Dunder Mifflin yourself, Ok_Misterpiece_9363 has provided the coordinates here.

No Man’s Sky Fans Are Doing Wild Stuff With Voyagers Update

by admin September 3, 2025

After its initial reveal in 2013, anticipation for No Man’s Sky was astronomical–until it fell off of a procedurally generated cliff as eager virtual space explorers found the initial 2016 release a little too anemic, and lacking many features promised by Hello Games co-founder Sean Murray. The game’s devs, however, weren’t satisfied letting NMS drift off into the vacuum of forgotten games.

Read More: No Man’s Sky Goes Full Star Trek Mode In Latest Massive Update

The Voyagers update, the latest in the studio’s persistent efforts to improve and deepen the experience of exploring its procedural universe, has been a hit with the game’s community. Allowing players to construct their own ships with fully traversable interiors and more, the update has seen a wild influx of players come to the game, the most since its launch on Steam in 2018.

Taking to X, Sean Murray shared that on September 1, which coincided with the Labor Day holiday in the U.S., NMS saw just under 100,000 concurrent players.

Highest number of players since launch 🤯 pic.twitter.com/d51JpviRb2

— Sean Murray (@NoMansSky) September 1, 2025

The game has also surged to second place in the top-10 most played Steam Deck games for the past week, surpassed only by Hollow Knight (fans of that game must be excited about something, I imagine). With so many players jumping in to play with the game’s new shipbuilding mechanics, the internet is full of cool new designs, including original creations, builds modeled after classic science fiction ships, and of course more than a few silly ones, such as this recreation of a Nokia 3310.

Legends say he flew it into a black hole and the black hole blinked@NoMansSky #NoMansSky@hellogames@Griff_ pic.twitter.com/Dq7T8LCUcS

— Ray Reynolds (@RayReynoldsNMS) September 2, 2025

But while the ability to build new ships with fully furnished interiors is perhaps Voyagers’ most attention-grabbing addition to the game, the chance to finally float out in space is also drawing in players, inspiring some to take daredevilish skydiving trips from orbit down to the surface. And yes, folks are doing it in VR as well.

It may be hard for No Man’s Sky to fully match the level of hype early trailers inspired in the 2010s, but seeing what players are up to now with the Voyagers update sure as hell makes it feel like it’s finally become the epically endless space sim many of us were so excited to play.

No Man’s Sky Fan Discovers Beautiful Planet Full Of Testicle Mounts

by admin August 29, 2025

No Man’s Sky players are always talking about the fascinating planets they discover. Some are breathtaking paradises that look straight from the cover of a sci-fi paperback. Others are deadly traps ready to claim unsuspecting travelers as their next victims.

It’s less often that you hear about the weird creatures living on these procedurally generated space rocks. They are also randomized to simulate the diverging evolutionary trends of life finding a way throughout vast and far-flung corners of the cosmos. And on at least one of those planets are aliens that look like, well…this.

“I was going to show how beautiful this planet is, but then I saw these guys lolol,” UnderstandingDull174 posted on the No Man’s Sky subreddit this week. Lounging on tall grass under blue skies was what looked like—how else can I describe it—a dick and balls. Buoyant and springy, it greeted UnderstandingDull174 with the best of intentions. The planet might have looked like Avatar‘s Pandora but the inhabitants more like Cronenbergian abominations from Rick and Morty.

The player was allowed to feed them, pet them, and even ride them:

The player could also…milk them.

No Man’s Sky adds fully customisable multi-crew spaceships you can build and fly with your friends

by admin August 27, 2025

Space can be a lonely place, what with it being – as a wise man once famously put it – so vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big and all. Which is where No Man’s Sky new Voyagers update comes in. Now, those long treks across the infinite expanse needn’t be quite so lonely thanks to the introduction of multi-crew space ships you can build, pilot, and stroll around with friends.

Customisable ships – not to be confused with No Man’s Sky’s existing customisable freighters, which essentially serve as gargantuan deep space bases – have been at the top of many a fan’s wishlist for quite some time. And today’s Voyagers update look to deliver and then some. After progressing to a certain point in the story, players gain access to a hangar-like workshop where new Corvette spaceships can be engineered both outside and within. Customisable components include hulls, wings, landing gear, engine parts, thrusters, and weapons, and all can be arranged to suit players’ whims.

And then there’s the habitable interior. “Add sleeping quarters,” developer Hello Games explains, “and you are ready to welcome a crew of friends on board. Add a mission radar and you are ready for adventure. A teleporter and you have an away team.” There’s also talk of med-bays and war rooms, or you can just add a window and watch the universe go by. And for thrillseekers, it’s even possible to flip open the Corvette’s airlock and go for a space walk together or, once within a planet’s atmosphere, sky dive to the ground.

Here’s a look at No Man’s Sky’s Voyagers update.Watch on YouTube

While newcomers to No Man’s Sky won’t have immediate access to Corvette construction given its unlock requirements, they’ll still be able to experience the feature in a brand-new limited-time Expedition. Alongside the usual array of cosmetic rewards, this’ll also unlock some ship parts players might find useful when trying to build their own vehicles in the core sim.

Hello Games says it’s had to rework “almost every part” of No Man’s Sky to accommodate Corvettes and their relative spaces, and to ensure crews can still roam their ship’s corridors and continue editing during the likes of warp jumps and planetary approaches. Much of the tech, it says, is shared with its upcoming Light No Fire, which will feature vast oceans players can similarly explore together on a single boat. This isn’t the first time No Man’s Sky has adopted technology implemented for Hello Games’ Earth-sized planet sim.

And it sounds like Hello Games is still far from done. “The most exciting thing about Voyagers for me,” writes Hello Games’ boss Sean Murray, “is the possibilities it opens in the future for No Man’s Sky, and I can’t wait to see where the team takes it from here.” And if you want to know more about No Man’s Sky’s Voyagers update, full patch notes can be found over here.
