Don’t Skip The Switch 2 System Transfer During Setup

by admin June 5, 2025

If you’re buying a Switch 2 you probably have a Switch 1. That means you’ll likely want to transfer all of your system data from the old console to the new one. But maybe you’re really excited to finally have the Switch 2 and just want to get right to playing Mario Kart World, so you skip the system transfer and leave it until later. Don’t! Nintendo only gives you once chance to move everything over.

Nintendo Switch 2 Could Launch With Almost No Reviews

Some unlucky fans, including those at the SwitchForce YouTube channel, found this out the hard way. After declining the system transfer during the Switch 2’s initial setup they tried to go back later and found that it was no longer an option. In fact, the only way to go back and transfer everything from an old Switch is to do a complete factory reset on the new Switch 2. While some data might stay backed up in the cloud with a Switch Online subscription, everything else—your download library, screenshots, etc.—will get wiped out.

What does a Switch 2 system transfer do?

If you’ve logged hundreds of hours on your existing Switch you’ve probably racked up tons of photo mode and video captures, save data, and game downloads. The system transfer from Switch 1 to Switch 2 carries all of that over in as painless a way as possible. It’ll even move your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island, a save file that previously relied on an outside app to shift from one console to another since it doesn’t support cloud backups.

The system transfer is easy. Once prompted during the Switch 2 startup, all you have to do is make sure your other Switch is nearby and both consoles are connected to the internet. From there the prompts will guide you through the rest of the simple process which requires both consoles to be plugged in and takes about 5-10 minutes to complete. Once it’s finished, everything on your Switch 2 will look as it did on your old Switch, down to the games that appear on the home menu and in what order.

It’s all pretty smooth, but only if you commit to the process upfront, something that, understandably, not everyone will want to do when they’re hyped to finally dig into a new console and see what it’s all about. Of course, if you don’t want to carry all of your stuff over from the original hardware, that’s fine too. Cloud saves (with a Switch Online subscription) will still be accessible, as well as any other data that’s stored on Nintendo’s servers rather than in the game itself. And honestly, I kind of get the appeal of starting over from scratch with a clean slate. Looking back, that was one of my favorite parts of the original Switch’s launch period.

Just make that decision for yourself before Nintendo’s system setup restrictions make it for you.

Please, Elden Ring Nightreign Players, Skip The Cutscenes!

by admin June 4, 2025

I’m nervous. We missed two churches and lost a level in the mines. The Gaping Jaw Nightlord is weak to poison but no poison weapons spawned on the map. I spent my final runes on hitting level 12. We’re cooked. Oh my god why are we watching the final cutscene before the boss encounter AGAIN.

The Most Sought After Elden Ring Sword Has A Storied History

Not skipping these is the equivalent of icing the Nightfarer. Some Elden Ring Nightreign players might like the chill pre-scripted break before the reckoning but I can’t stand it. I’ve seen these generic cinematics play out dozens of times now. Some players have gone 10, 20, even 30 expeditions before their first Nightlord victory. That is nearly 10 minutes—10 minutes!—that could be spent doing literally anything else.

Look at this background! It’s gorgeous. Top marks to FromSoftware’s artists. I never need to see it again.

Look, I get it. Nightreign is intense. There’s a ton of esoteric information to fill your brain with, including loads of secret details, items, and mechanics the game never bothers to explain. It’s hard to remember to skip the beginning and ending intros. After 40 minutes of tense dodging, parrying, and cooldown management, it’s nice to take a moment, catch your breath, and watch Nightreign play itself. But if your teammates are spamming the skip button and you are off in lala land or scrolling the TikTok memes your buddy sent you days ago like that one about how guys only want one thing and it’s to hear the podracing engines as they whiz by sandy ridges on Tatooine, then you might be in the wrong matchmaking queue.

FromSoftware games are full of tests. Hardcore fans pride themselves on rising to the challenge when others would just give up. Debate after debate recirculates about what might be lost if Elden Ring and other Soulsborne games had difficulty sliders. Well, now I’m asking what’s gained by even giving players the option not to skip the Nightreign cutscenes? How many more loading screens must be delayed to pamper those unwilling to keep racing through the game even when the timed blue circle of death can no longer hurt you.

Players were worried that Nightreign would be a mess without voice chat. That playing with randos would lead to constant confusion and frustration. To my delightful surprise this has not been the case. Most players get the assignment. And those who don’t should be helped along by their more seasoned companions. Which is what I’m doing now. Please, for the love of the Erdtree, press the start button. Skip the cutscene. Let me rush to my downfall rather than being forced to contemplate its inevitability for an extra 15 seconds.

Original Space Marine Getting 4K Remaster, But Will Skip PS5

by admin May 23, 2025

Sega and Games Workshop announced that the original Space Marine game, first released on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC over a decade ago, is getting a fancy remaster with improved visuals and controls. And you won’t have to wait long as it launches on June 10 on Xbox Series X/S, and PC. You might notice a platform is missing.

GTA 6 Beers Look Tasty As Hell

The original Warhammer 40k: Space Marine was released back in 2011. It was very good, and over a decade later in 2024, it finally got a big sequel that was even better. That sequel was such a big success that the people behind it have already announced they are making Space Marine 3. That’s pretty cool. But perhaps you want to return to the OG game or play it for the first time before the third game arrives in the future. Until now, the best way to do that was to play the solid but dated PC port of Space Marine. However, there’s soon to be a (hopefully) better option to replay this cult classic third-person sci-fi shooter. Unless you only own a PS5, that is.

On May 22, as part of the Warhammer Skulls event, Sega announced that it was remastering the OG Space Marine. According to the publisher, the new remaster is being handled by SneakyBox and will feature a 4K resolution option, modernized controls, a complete UI overhaul, improved character models, and remastered audio. I can’t wait to hear Orks yell out “Space Marine!” in a cockney accent in the highest fidelity possible.

“[This] isn’t just a technical upgrade — it’s a thoughtful restoration,” producer Vaidas Mikelskas from SneakyBox told IGN. “We aimed to preserve the spirit of the original while modernizing the experience for today’s players.”

Strangely, this surprise remaster seems to be skipping PlayStation 5 if the game’s first trailer is any indication. Instead, it will arrive on day one on Game Pass. Not sure what’s going on here. I assume eventually the remaster will get a PS5 port, but for now it seems to be an Xbox console exclusive. In a world where Forza and Gears of War are on PlayStation, this seems really silly.

Warhammer 40k: Space Marine Master Crafted Edition launches June 10 on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Game Pass.
