Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Review – A true classic sheds its skin with a bold new look

by admin August 22, 2025

How crisp and 4K-ified a nostalgic menu looks on a big TV is the silliest thing I’ve ever been excited about, but Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a shot-for-shot remake which luxuriates in the little things.

What makes Metal Gear Solid 3 one of the best games of all time isn’t necessarily its sneaking or its plot, but its inventiveness and reactivity. If you whip the camera around Snake in the medical screen too quickly he falls to his knees and blows chunks when you return to the game, if you quickly snipe a boss after a cutscene hours before his scheduled fight, he’ll be dead when you’re supposed to face him, and rabbit might taste pretty good, but instant ramen noodles are still the greatest food known to man.

It’s full of bespoke, purpose-built mechanics which had never been used before or since, all of which were so exciting in their nerdy but approachable simulation. Whether it’s digging out bullets with a combat knife and bandaging the wound or burning off a fat leech with an equally stubby cuban cigar in the Cure screen, or snaring vampire bats, rats and reticulated pythons to recover your stamina, each moving part is so simply implemented, but with an accessibility that made them iconic.

Metal Gear Solid Delta translates the original’s quirkiness beautifully to a new generation with MGS5-esque controls and modern Unreal 5 engine textures and lighting which don’t so much reinvent the classic, but leverage the soft-focus of memory. Delta looks like you remember MGS3 looking, rather than the sharp, polygonal reality of a 20 year old PS2 game.

The visual improvements are, by-and-large, fantastic, going above and beyond the stretched and muddy environments of a typical HD remaster to deliver lush jungles, dusty mountain trails and austere laboratories which feel dense with granular detail and distinctly different from one another.

You might spot a rough clothing texture here-and-there, but given MGS’s proclivity for crawling through the undergrowth and more portrait close ups than school picture day, everything and everyone looks good.

This gives a new lease of life to one of the more underrated aspects of Kojima games, the kinetic cutscene camera work and shot selection. Once you notice how dynamically and playfully the remade cutscenes are presented, and how much that contrasts with the legendarily (infamously) verbose codec scenes, it drives home even more clearly how perfect Metal Gear Solid is for this visual overhaul.

However, within the remake realm, Metal Gear Solid Delta occupies an interesting spot. While there’s now been a plethora of remakes, remasters and reimaginings from all sorts of studios and genres, it’s obvious that Konami was most inspired (both judging by this and their recent Silent Hill 2 remake) by the Resident Evil remakes.

All of the Resident Evil remakes are great but they make such an interesting contrast with Metal Gear. In Resident Evil 4 Remake, which I expected to be a lot more similar to the dogged, reiterative style of Delta, the development team, comprised of many of the people work had worked on the PS2 version, took the opportunity to “fix” fan-favourite flubs and memes which they obviously felt undermined the vision they were going for but, I feel, lost some of the magic in doing so.

Resident Evil 2 Remake on the other hand was absolutely triumphant in its reimagining of the original game. It felt like a modern game designed with the spirit of the classic that gained a truly innovative impetus from the new technologies and mechanics developed for Resident Evil 7 that it added, creating something which didn’t just reanimate the bones of the old game, but augmented them into something tangibly exciting.

Metal Gear Solid Delta, for all its strengths, doesn’t do that. All of the fun stuff that you remember is still here, ready and waiting for you like a gavial under the waterline. But outside of the new shooting controls, which are a vast improvement even if you try and argue that the original was a more tactile and realistic simulation of the complexity of actually firing a weapon, Delta feels relatively untouched creatively and mechanically.

I’m not saying I wanted Ocelot to suddenly start to hunt you through the jungle like Mr X in Resident Evil 2, but within the wider context of what’s clearly inspired Delta, it doesn’t quite reach the heights of something you’ve never seen before – which is ironic given the greatness of MGS3 lies in its originality.

However, that’s not to say that Delta is low effort in any sense. Its painstaking recreation, which brings back one of gaming’s greatest ever Easter Eggs that was missing in the MGS HD Collection, is saved from tautology both by its completeness and commitment to not providing the path of least resistance.

To give more examples, it would’ve been very easy to forgo the Snake vs Monkey Ape Escape mode as a license not worth the effort, or to brighten up the cave complex after The Pain lest modern players think their HDR is broken, rather than letting Snake’s eyes naturally adjust to the gloom.

So, while there are no less than five other versions of Metal Gear Solid 3, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is now the definitive place to play a bonafide classic in a way that feels both accessibly modern, but still authentic to the original experience.

Ninja defends Kai Cenat as Twitch star’s Fortnite skin sparks criticism

by admin August 21, 2025

Ninja is coming to the defense of Twitch star Kai Cenat after Fortnite added his skin to the game ahead of prominent creators more associated with the battle royale.

On August 19, Kai Cenat unveiled his new Fortnite skin, part of the Icon Series lineup, on the Las Vegas Sphere.

While Kai is one of the biggest names in the streaming world, some fans have taken issue with the AMP star getting a skin instead of Fortnite players or other streamers such as IShowSpeed.

Surprisingly, Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, someone who has had beef with Cenat in the past, stepped up to support Kai, explaining why it’s not as big of a deal some are making it out to be.

Ninja responds to Kai Cenat Fortnite skin backlash

During a broadcast, viewers inquired why Kai was getting a skin and Ninja had a simple reply.

“There are creators who have Icon skins and then there’s just Icons,” Belevins explained. “It’s safe to say he’s up there in the streaming scene.”

Going through the roster of skins, Ninja said that a Speed skin would be “great” too, but added that Epic doesn’t just pump out cosmetics.

“These things are spaced out, so we can still see a Speed one in the future and there are loads of people who don’t play this game every day.”

Of note, Ninja pointed to the Eminem, Billie Eilish and Harry Kane skins as famous people not exactly associated with Fortnite, and there was more room for streamers to get skins.

Ninja emphasised that Kai is an Icon and the fact that he’s not getting a Creator Skin means he’s not taking a skin away from someone.

Furthermore, he was convinced that Kai would be playing Fortnite a lot during his upcoming Mafiathon 3 after setting a Twitch subscriber record last year with 728,535.

The Kai Cenat collab is set to arrive on September 12, 2025.

Kai Cenat set to reveal his own Fortnite Icon Series skin

by admin August 18, 2025

Kai Cenat has just “leaked” that he’s getting his own Icon Series skin in Fortnite, announcing when fans can finally take a first look at it.

Nowadays, Fortnite isn’t merely known for being a Battle Royale title. Thanks to the expanding list of collabs, the title has truly evolved into a pop culture phenomenon.

In addition to featuring all kinds of fictional characters and real-life personalities, the game has also brought popular content creators and streamers to the island, such as Ninja, NickEh30, and Clix.

It turns out, the next one to join the Icon Series lineup is no other than Twitch streamer Kai Cenat, as seen in a recent announcement. Here’s everything you need to know about the reveal.

Kai Cenat “leaks” his own Fortnite Icon Series Skin

Kai Cenat shared the announcement in a post on X, claiming that there’s a “huge announcement” regarding a Fortnite Icon Series Reveal tomorrow at  8:30 PM PST/11:30 PM EST.

This, of course, came off as quite a surprise to the community, considering dataminers usually leak skins early. Though there are occasionally some exceptions that catch people off guard, like this one.

One thing that’s worth pointing out, however, shortly after the announcement, the official Fortnite account retweeted Kai’s post, confirming that he really is about to get his own skin.

Epic didn’t spoil any details further in their post, though they did give a playful nudge by saying “leaked.”

Either way, even though the skin has yet to be revealed, looking at past Icon Series skins, we can expect it to come with additional cosmetics, such as a pickaxe, back bling, and emote, among others.

This isn’t the first time Kai has worked with Epic. In 2024, Kai Cenat, Sketch, and the AMP team were featured in the Reload trailer.

Since then, Sketch has received his own emote, while Kai is about to get his own collab added. In terms of Fortnite, Kai has also done a marathon stream with iShowSpeed, in which they challenged themselves to keep streaming until they secured a Victory Royale.

Diablo 4 Season 9 will be detailed this Friday – and you even get an in-game skin for watching the reveal live

by admin June 23, 2025

After a bit of a wait, Blizzard has officially set a date for the next Diablo 4 livestream. The focus of the show will, unsurprisingly, be on Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim. Season 9 kicks off in about a week, so it’s almost time for one last look at what’s coming.

Of course, this won’t technically be our first-ever look at the new content, as much of it was in the Season 9 PTR (Public Test Realm) held towards the end of May. That said, there are definitely a couple of reasons to tune in.

The Diablo 4 Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim livestream is scheduled for this Friday, June 27. Blizzard has hosted these sort of livestreams on Fridays before, but the developer typically goes for a Thursday – or even earlier in the week – spot.

Regardless, the show will kick off at the usual times: 11am PT, 2pm ET, 7pm BST. You’ll be able to watch it on all the official Diablo channels – YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, and TikTok. The livestream will offer one final look at Sins of the Horadrim, which is set to arrive on June 30.

More specifically, we’ll get an updated look at the new seasonal questline, new battle pass, the Horadric Spellcraft mechanic, Escalating Nightmares endgame activity, and more. This will also be a great opportunity to see what’s actually changed based on PTR feedback.

Worth tuning in for? | Image credit: Blizzard Entertainment.

As usual, we’re also also getting a preview of the higher-level balance changes coming with Season 9, both for characters as well as general gameplay. Several members of the Diablo 4 development team will be guiding us through the showcase, and there’s going to be a Q&A segment to close it off.

Blizzard is also bringing back the post-show Sanctuary Sitdown chat, which will see community host Nacho join Aislyn Hall to talk more about the new season, and answer questions from Discord members.

There’s something new this time, too. Blizzard is offering anyone who watches Diablo 4 on Twitch while the Developer Update is live a free skin. It does not need to be the main Diablo 4 livestream itself, and you only need to watch for 30 minutes to earn the Lacuni’s Pupil two-handed Sorcerer Staff.

This ultra-rare Riven skin just resurfaced after RohanGod’s incredible LoL achievement

by admin June 6, 2025

After reaching the highest rank in every Riot Games title, RohanGod has been rewarded with a piece of League of Legends history few thought would ever return—the 2012 Championship Riven skin.

While most League players struggle to reach the highest rank, this player has achieved it in all the other Riot-developed titles: VALORANT, Teamfight Tactics, and Legends of Runeterra. This is an impressive feat, encompassing various game genres, including MOBA, FPS, card games, and auto battlers, which serves as a testament to their gaming skills.

It’s priceless! Image via Riot Games

Championship Riven is often cited alongside PAX skins and Black Alistar as one of the rarest skins in the game. It debuted back in 2012 as the first championship skin after Worlds. It was sold for a week, and it never came back. It had a unique shape for the Riven sword, making it a rare and one-of-a-kind cosmetic only owned by players who’ve been playing the game since the early days.

While Riot brought back the other championship skins for players in Worlds, Riven’s skin never returned, and it became a topic of discussion ever since.

Finally, the developer reintroduced the Championship Riven skin in 2016 but with a key difference: the champion’s new skin didn’t feature a crown on the head. To preserve the exclusivity of the 2012 skin, existing owners of the original skins also got a special loading screen border, exclusive summoner icon, and an updated version of the skin itself, making it almost priceless in the community.

“I wanted this more than any material object when I was a kid. [I] really just don’t know what to say except for thank you,” RohanGod said on his X (formerly Twitter) account. According to the player, he has also achieved the highest rank in other popular multiplayer games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, Marvel Rivals, and many more.

If the developer continues down this path of rewarding cross-title achievements with ultra-rare cosmetics, it could mark a new era of recognition across the Riot ecosystem.

All weapon skin bundles in VALORANT

by admin May 31, 2025

Ever since its global release in 2020, VALORANT’s store has been hosting new weapon skin bundles featuring multiple weapon skins, player cards, gun buddies, and sprays based on a singular theme every once in a while.

Skins don’t play a competitive role in VALORANT, but they certainly add an oomph factor to our weapons. While you can purchase skins individually in most cases, buying weapon skin bundles is always a better deal due to discounts and free items. After release, a bundle remains available for a while in the store’s Featured Section before being replaced by a new one. While individual skins may return (if not time-limited) to the daily rotating store, you’ll have no way to purchase the player cards, buddies, and sprays that are sold in bundles after they leave the store.

Here’s the list of every single released VALORANT weapon skin bundle, including the Give Back and Run It Back collections, starting with the most recent.

What is the new VALORANT bundle?

The latest bundle in the VALORANT Store is the 5 Year // Beta Remastered bundle. Priced at 3,915 VP, which is around $40 in real money, it features only one weapon skin—a dashing animated knife melee—and three accessories. As its name suggests, this collection has been released to celebrate five years since VALORANT first went into open beta in 2020.

You can’t purchase any item belonging to the 5 Year // Beta Remastered collection separately; they have to be purchased as a bundle. The knife is upgradable to two levels and has four color variants. The player card, gun buddy, and spray are animated, and you get a funky “β” player title as well. While the knife may return to your Daily Store in the future, the accessories won’t. The bundle will leave the Store’s Featured Section on June 27.

How many bundles are there in VALORANT?

As of now, Riot has released over 130 weapon collections or bundles in VALORANT. In most cases, the VALORANT store will only feature a single bundle, but there can be two on display occasionally. Riot Games releases bundles alongside gameplay patches, so whenever a new update is around the corner, a new skin collection will likely be attached to it.

The first VALORANT bundle was released in 2020, and Riot adds more every once in a while.
