Every videogame showcase is a PC gaming show now

This week: Between obsessing over the trailers for Mandrake and Innkeep, I’ve been trying to finish Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. And failing.

I was watching the Frosty Games Fest, a showcase of upcoming games from Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand—where it’s currently cold as balls, hence the “Frosty” part of the name—and realized that, out of more than 50 games I saw there, only two weren’t coming to PC. And that’s because one of them already was on PC, and was just there to announce its mobile port.

The Frosty Games Fest may not be a PC-centric show, yet it has a dedicated Steam page to help you track down the game where you’re a thief with really long arms, or the visual novel where you romance Dracula.

Obviously the PC Gaming Show is 100% PC games, and it’s no big surprise the Xbox Games Showcase is also full of games coming to PC. (Not today, at least, though it wasn’t that long ago that Xbox still did console exclusives.) And it was interesting that the Xbox handheld turned out to just be a ROG Ally that is “bringing together the power of Xbox and the freedom of Windows” according to Sarah Bond, Microsoft’s president of Xbox. And also that Pokémon studio Game Freak’s next game is coming to PC.

What is surprising is how much the central tentpole of this overwhelming annual game-a-palooza, the Summer Game Fest, has become a PC show by default. We had to wait years for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game to come to PC, but Scott Pilgrim EX touts a PC launch from its very first reveal, as does Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver. (I’m still waiting for 1999’s Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style to get a PC port, though.)

Everything from Diablo-but-you’re-SpongeBob to the Lego-themed multiplayer party game is coming to our platform of choice, and when a rare game doesn’t tell you it’ll be launching on Steam it’s only because, in the case of End of Abyss and Out of Words, they’re coming to Epic. At least, for now.

When a game like Stranger than Heaven shows up at the SGF with a trailer that doesn’t tell you what platform it’ll be on, or indeed much of anything except that it’s a noir take on Yakuza, once upon a time we might have sat on it while we hassled PR people for confirmation that it would release on PC, too. But now, when Yakuza 0 puts in regular appearances in the PC Gamer Top 100 every year, it’s hard to imagine it won’t.

Back when E3 was still a thing, it often felt like a celebration of big-budget games and console hardware, with everything else a secondary consideration relegated to the fringes. Which is why we set up the PC Gaming Show in the first place. Now, when E3 has a stake through its heart and a mouth stuffed full of garlic so it can’t rise again, PC gaming and the variety of games it supports gets to be at the forefront of our show, and every show—where it belongs.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Activision debuts Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 at Xbox Games Showcase 2025

by admin June 9, 2025

Microsoft and Activision revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in a dramatic cinematic trailer during the 2025 Xbox Games Showcase. Having two Black Ops games release consecutively is a first for the franchise, and Activision’s Treyarch and Raven studios teamed up to make it happen following 2024’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

The Black Ops 7 trailer is a trippy thing, like something you might expect out of Remedy’s Alan Wake series, with scenes of the protagonist appearing to experience a fragmented consciousness, a moment where a cityscape folds in on itself Inception-style, laughing TV sets, red butterflies made of data, and talking robot butlers escorting someone through a suspiciously, eerily calm executive suite. While we’re not entirely sure what’s going on, we do know who’s leading the charge this time: David Mason, the lead from Black Ops 2 whose last appearance was in 2018’s Black Ops 4.

“The year is 2035 and the world is on the brink of chaos, ravaged by conflict and psychological warfare following the narrative events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6,” the game’s official description reads on Xbox Wire. “With cutting-edge technology in hand, the Black Ops team led by David Mason must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else.”

Activision said Black Ops 7 will support solo play and multiplayer squads in a new co-op campaign, and you’ll have “near-future weaponry” to take on the challenge. Black Ops 7 will also include a standalone multiplayer mode with new maps and a zombies mode that continues the Dark Aether storyline.

There’s no Black Ops 7 release date yet, but when it does launch, it’ll be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Everything we saw at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025

by admin June 8, 2025

Xbox has came out and delivered a lot of great games this year, and after today’s show, looks to continue on that momentum. With a combination of 2025 and 2026 titles in view, alongside a few undated items, there’s a lot to love. Personal picks? Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Clockwork Revolution look incredible. Check out all the coolness below from Xbox Wire.

From brand new games to brand new hardware, the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 had a core theme – putting players at the center of everything. In a show packed with new titles from our first-party developers, fresh ideas from our incredible partners across the globe, and even a brand-new Xbox to play them on, we focused it all on the thing that matters most – you.

We’re working to make sure you’re able to play Xbox games wherever you are, which is why every new game in the show is Xbox Play Anywhere. With a single purchase, you can play with Xbox, including your progress and achievements, across Xbox console, PC and Xbox Ally—at no additional cost.

And we also offered a brand-new place for you to play with the reveal of the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X handhelds, launching later this year. Xbox Ally will play games from across your entire library – including the Windows PC game stores from Xbox and Battle.net, not to mention leading third-party PC storefronts. What’s more, we confirmed that the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available for Xbox Ally and Game Pass at launch, and that every game in the show will run on Xbox Ally.

And there were a lot of games on show, with players getting a look at just some of the games they can look forward to this year. From our first-party studios, we saw a world premiere for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, an unexpected Obsidian double-bill in the form of The Outer Worlds 2 and Grounded 2, a world premiere of Double Fine’s otherworldly Keeper, a first look at Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s Order of the Giants DLC, and got new gameplay from Ninja Gaiden 4, and Gears of War: Reloaded. Looking further ahead, we also saw extended gameplay for Clockwork Revolution, showing us more from inXile’s most ambitious game yet.

And from our partners, there’s even more to look forward to. New studio Quarter Up brought us a wonderful surprise in the form of Invincible VS, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XVI arrives for Xbox today – with Final Fantasy Remake Intergrade to come later this year – and Atlus introduced us to Persona 4 Revival.

We also saw follow-ups to indie hits like Super Meat Boy 3D, High on Life 2, and Planet of Lana II as well as world premieres and new looks at some incredibly exciting new ideas, including The Blood of Dawnwalker, Game Freak’s Beast of Reincarnation, and At Fate’s End, the new game from the creators of the beloved Spiritfarer – among many others.

And after a huge 2025 filled with games from today’s double feature, there’s so much more to come. Phil Spencer closed the show by speaking about the upcoming 25th anniversary of Xbox, with the exciting proclamation that, in 2026, Xbox players will celebrate a quarter-century of Xbox with a new Fable, the next Forza, Gears of War E-Day, and, “The return of a classic that’s been with us since the beginning…”

And the fun only continued in The Outer Worlds 2 & Grounded 2 Direct, which followed immediately after Xbox Games Showcase concluded. Presented by the developers at Obsidian Entertainment, the show offered brand new information and gameplay for the sequel to the award-winning RPG, and also offered up some details on a whole other game arriving this year after the surprise announcement of Grounded 2. Make sure to check back for full rundowns on what was announced in the second part of our enormous double feature.

Want to catch up on everything from the show? Read on for every single announcement and reveal from the Xbox Games Showcase 2025:

Xbox Games Showcase: Start Time, How To Watch, And What To Expect
Game Updates

Xbox Games Showcase: Start Time, How To Watch, And What To Expect

by admin June 8, 2025

The Xbox brand is having an interesting year so far, with the hot launch of Doom: The Dark Ages and several Microsoft-published games finding success on PlayStation. The future of Xbox is uncertain, but the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase, scheduled for Sunday, June 8, should give us an idea of what’s coming soon from Microsoft’s first-party studios and its partners.

The showcase, which streams a couple days after this year’s Summer Game Fest, will have a Direct presentation devoted to Obsidian Entertainment’s upcoming RPG The Outer Worlds 2 immediately following it. Previous Xbox summer showcases in 2023 and 2024 have featured extended looks at Starfield and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, respectively, as closers.

How to watch the Xbox Games Showcase and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct

You can stream the Xbox Games Showcase and the following Direct for The Outer Worlds 2 on GameSpot’s YouTube, as well as the official Xbox YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook pages. Bethesda is also hosting the presentation on its YouTube and Twitch channels, as is Obsidian Entertainment on YouTube. The YouTube streams will be in 4K resolution at 60fps. And in a first, Xbox is also streaming the event on TikTok, featuring live commentary from host Ethan Rothamel and TikTok creator Senpapi Gabe.

Xbox Games Showcase and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct start time

The Xbox Games Showcase begins at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on Sunday, June 8. The Outer Worlds 2 Direct starts immediately after the showcase concludes. Microsoft has not specified the duration of the presentation, but previous Xbox showcases have typically lasted around an hour, followed by a 30- to 45-minute Direct for a featured game.

  • 10 AM PT
  • 1 PM ET
  • 6 PM BST
  • 3 AM AET (June 9)

What to expect

Besides The Outer Worlds 2, the Xbox team hasn’t explicitly mentioned any other titles that will appear in the showcase. However, the studios under the Microsoft Gaming umbrella have several anticipated titles in development that we are aware of, which we could see this year.

Previous showcases have given us peeks at Gears of War: E-Day and a Perfect Dark reboot, and this showcase would be a perfect opportunity to reveal launch dates for both. And while the new Fable game from Playground Games was pushed back to 2026, the showcase could still provide us with some new gameplay footage.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is getting a free update this summer, so it’s also possible that studio Ninja Theory will detail when it drops and what’s included. The highly acclaimed Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is also getting story DLC this year, titled The Order of Giants, so it would be unsurprising to see a trailer and release date for it at this showcase.

On the Activision Blizzard side, there still hasn’t been an official announcement on what this year’s Call of Duty game will be, though it’s rumored to be a new Black Ops game set in the future–a reveal could come at the showcase.

Neverway continues to make a compelling case for horror farming-sims in a new showcase from its devs

by admin June 8, 2025

I don’t think you can more easily sell me on a game than by saying it was made by one of the artists behind Celeste, and has music from Disasterpeace, i.e. the composer behind Fez, Hyper Light Drifter, and It Follows. But that’s exactly what Neverway is, a horror RPG in the vein of Stardew Valley first announced back in April, back with a nice little look-in at yesterday’s Day of the Devs presentation.

Pedro Medeiros, the Celeste artist in question, and programmer/ writer Isadora Sophia gave a great little rundown of Neverway, explaining that you play as Fiona, a character who much like the player character in Stardew has just quit her dead end job. She’s trying to start over on a farm, live the quiet life, except she ends up having to serve as a herald for a dead god because of some debt she owes. Awkward!

Watch on YouTube

That kind of life does end up leading towards the need to fight in a classic Zelda-ish 2D action combat kind of way, but you do have to balance all of that adventuring with your regular life too. That means farming, paying your mortgage, making friends, maybe even falling in love. Those bonds can lead to new combat abilities too, something I wish my own relationships offered me.

Time works a bit differently in Neverway too, as rather than the day slowly tick tocking away, it moves from morning, to afternoon, to night when you do things like eat, sleep, or read a manual of some sort.

After a while, you’ll end up searching for the titular Neverway, a “decaying nightmarish reality that is slowly leaking into yours.” This is where you’ll learn about the game’s post-apocalyptic world as you pay off your debt.

I know “farming sim but dark” isn’t exactly a new concept, it’s just that Neverway is doing so with such eyecatching style I can’t help but be won over by it. It looks like there’s a real sincerity to the life-sim elements as opposed to them just being slapped into some dark themes. That’s the ticket to my heart honestly, a good bit of earnestness goes a long way.

Neverway doesn’t have a release date just yet, but you can wishlist it on Steam.

Wholesome Direct 2025 – everything announced at this year’s cosy indie showcase

by admin June 7, 2025

If you’re the sort who just can’t seem to resist the soothing rhythms of turnip planting and interior design, you’ve come to the right place. This year’s Wholesome Direct – which marks the fifth anniversary of the showcase – has now aired, unleashing a fresh wave of cosy games to stick on your wishlists. We’ve got vending machine management, adorable puppies on spooking adventures, cheese-based puzzling, geckos, goats, seasonal cemetery exploration, and a whole lot more. So if that sounds like it might help sate your idyllic yearning, read on for all the big announcements from Wholesome Direct 2025. And for more indies, you can check out our round-up of this year’s Day of the Devs showcase elsewhere.

Leaf Blower Co.

Leaf Blower Co. trailer.Watch on YouTube

Ever wished your PowerWash Simulator had a little less splosh and a little more whoosh? That seems to be the starting point for developer Lift Games’ Leaf Blower Co., a game about making the untidy tidy come rain, snow, or shine, one mechanised gust at a time. It’s got a story mode plus a variety to locations waiting to be blown debris-free, and if that appeals, a demo’s available now on Steam ahead of its release later this year.

Instants

Instants trailer.Watch on YouTube

Instants is a creativity themed puzzler about the intoxicating pleasures of obsessive scrapbooking. It sees players attempting to sort images into chronological order and then assembling them into a scrapbook to reveal a “heartwarming” story inspired by the way family history can be passed down using pictures. It’s developed by Endflame and launches today on PC (via Steam and Epic), and Switch.

Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar

Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar trailer.Watch on YouTube

Stardew Valley might be the face of farming sims these days, but the grandaddy of the genre – Story of Season (formerly Harvest Moon) – never went away, and another entry in the venerable series is looming. Grand Bazaar is actually a remake of 2011 DS game Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar, and it’s got pretty much everything you’d expect from these kind of things – including turnips to fondle, animals to rear, and locals to dazzle with your impressive root vegetable collection. The main twist is you’ll be selling all this yourself by setting up shop in the titular bazar. And if that sounds like something you’d enjoy, it launches for Switch, Switch 2, and Steam on 27th August.

Gourdlets Together

Gourdlets Together trailer.Watch on YouTube

Perhaps you’re already a fan of last year’s Gourdlets or perhaps you’re completely new to its vegetable-themed low-stakes thrills. Either way, there’ll soon be a new way to play, thanks to developer AuntyGames’ Gourdlets Together. Essentially, it takes the laid-back village-building vibes of the original, slings in a bit of a fishing focus – where earnings can be spent on upgrades or accessories to decorate your island home – then lets you do it while hanging out with friends online. Gourdlets Together launches on PC later this year.

Luma Island

Luma Island trailer.Watch on YouTube

Don’t think we’re done with the farming sims yet – not by a long shot! Luma Island launched last year, offering an attractive mix of crop whispering, profession-specific activities, creature collecting, exploration, and puzzle-y dungeoneering. And come 20th June, it’ll be getting just a little be more swashbuckling, thanks to its free Pirates update, introducing a new profession, new Lumas, new outfits, and a pirate cove filled with mini-games, temples, traps, and treasures. It’ll also bring a range of different difficulty modes to suit players of all tastes.

Is This Seat Taken?

Is This Seat Taken? trailer.Watch on YouTube

Think you’re a dab hand at the old ‘awkward family gathering’ seating plan challenge? Well then, this might just be the game for you. In Poti Poti Studio’s “cosy, silly, and relatable” logic puzzler Is This Seat Taken?, the goal is to satisfy the demands of a particularly fussy group of chair occupiers to find the perfect spot that’ll keep everyone happy – be they on the bus, at the park, or in the office. It’s coming to Steam, Switch, iOS, and Android this August, and a Steam demo’s out now.

MakeRoom

MakeRoom trailer.Watch on YouTube

Here’s one for the aesthetic tinkerers and furnishing fetishists out there. MakeRoom, from developer Kenney, sees players decorating a series of miniature dioramas – from cosy indoor retreats to camper vans and even forests – to fulfil the requests of adorable NPCs. You might, for instance, be tasked with creating the perfect room for cats, or a suitably moody hideout for a vampire. Then it’s simply a matter of hanging drapes, plopping down plants, and even crafting furniture to bring these spaces to life and satisfy your clients’ whims. It all sounds very much like Animal Crossing’s weirdly compelling Happy Home Paradise expansion, so if it’s more of that sort of thing you want, MakeRoom comes to Steam on 7th August.

Ambroise Niflette & the Gleaned Bell

Ambroise Niflette & the Gleaned Bell trailer.Watch on YouTube

The apple bell – whatever an apple bell is – has been stolen, but luckily for apple bell lovers everywhere, renowned detective Ambroise Niflette is on the case. Over the course of Topotes Studio’s investigatory adventure, Ambroise – and players – will roam the village of Touvoir, interrogating its inhabitants and searching for secrets, all while using a notebook of steadily amassing leads to reveal contradictions and unmask the culprit. It all sounds perfectly lovely, but the real draw is the delightful art style, which is heavily inspired by miniatures and stop motion. Ambroise Niflette & the Gleaned Bell is eventually set to launch on Steam, but first there’s a Kickstarter, which is underway now.

Let’s Build a Dungeon

Let’s Build a Dungeon trailer.Watch on YouTube

First there was Let’s Build a Zoo, and now comes Let’s Build a Dungeon. But while developer Springloaded kept its focus pretty tight for its debut release, Let’s Build a Dungeon goes broad; not only is it a playable RPG creator where you can rustle up your own worlds and quests, it’s also claiming to be an entire games industry sim too, where you’ll need to manage all the malarky around releasing your game – from attracting funding right through to making a profit at the other end of the process. But if all that sounds too stressful, Springloaded has confirmed – as part of its latest showing – there’ll be a cosy sandbox Build Mode too. There’s still no release date for Let’s Build a Dungeon yet, but it’s heading to Steam (there’s a demo here), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Squeakross: Home Squeak Home

Squeakross: Home Squeak Home trailer.Watch on YouTube

What do you get if you cross adorable mice with classic grid-filling puzzler Picross? Well, this thing, obviously. Squeakross: Home Squeak Home is the work of developer Alblune, and it adds its own twist to the familiar logic-testing formula by introducing a home decorating element. The idea is each puzzle corresponds to an unlockable bit of decor – including furniture, accessories, and stickers – so you’ll slowly amass new furnishings and trimmings as you give your brain a work out. Is there an in-game lore reason why puzzles equals furniture? Who knows! We’ll soon find out, though, given Squeakross launches for Switch and PC (via Steam and itch.io) today.

Monument Valley 3

Monument Valley 3 trailer.Watch on YouTube

Ustwo Games’ perspective shifting puzzle series Monument Valley has been a big old hit, amassing tens of millions of downloads since its iOS debut back in 2014 – so it wasn’t a huge surprise when a third entry showed up on mobile last year. Initially, however, it was locked behind a Netflix subscription, but Monument Valley 3 – which we quite liked despite it offering little meaningful evolution for the series – is finally spreading its wings later this year. As announced during today’s Wholesome Direct, it’s coming to Steam, Switch, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on 22nd July.

Big Hops

Big Hops trailer.Watch on YouTube

If you immediately thought bunnies, you’re wrong. Big Hops is, in fact, a frog-themed action platformer, in which players attempt to help the titular Hop find his way home. Each world he visits on his adventure promises its own self-contained story – involving everything from mountain cultists to desert ne’erdowells – all interspersed with plenty of agile platform action. You can grapple across gaps, hoist levers, rotate wheels, even pick locks – all using your tongue – and it’s accompanied by some veggie-based gameplay that lets players introduce the likes of climbable vines and mushroom-based bounce pads into levels. Big Hops is currently raising funds via Kickstarter and a Steam demo’s out now.

Little Kitty, Big City

Little Kitty, Big City trailer.Watch on YouTube

Here’s quicky for you. Little Kitty, Big City – the feline-focused open-world adventure from Double Dagger Studio – is getting a little bigger. That’s thanks to a free content update coming to all platforms this “summer”, promising new story content, a new neighbourhood to explore, and new oddball characters to befriend. That’s alongside a new cat customisation feature for you creative sorts out there.

Vending Dokan!: Kozy Kiosk

Vending Dokan!: Kozy Kiosk trailer.Watch on YouTube

What’s in a name? Well, pretty much everything in this case. Aftabi Games’ Vending Dokan!: Kozy Kiosk is, just as it sounds, a cosy, laidback game about managing your own vending machine empire. You’ll choose where your machines go and what they sell, and hire staff to ensure they stay stocked, clean, and in working order. There’s a heavy customisation element too, as you’re free to decorate the areas surrounding your vending machines in order to attract new customers. Kozy Kiosk is officially referred to as an “idle simulation”, and can be played both actively and passively. And if that appeals, it launches for Steam today.

Winter Burrow

Winter Burrow trailer.Watch on YouTube

Developer Pine Creek Games’ “woodland survival game” Winter Burrow was unveiled during December’s Wholesome Direct, but it’s back to announce it’s now coming to Switch. If you missed its original reveal, Winter Burrow casts you as a mouse who’s attempting to fix up their burrow and turn it into a toasty retreat from the cold. That requires exploring the snow-covered world outside, gathering resources, crafting tools, building things, making friends, baking pies, and more. Winter Burrow launches next year and will be available for Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch.

Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game

Tales of the Shire trailer.Watch on YouTube

After multiple delays, cosy hobbit life sim Tales of the Shire is almost upon us, and developer Wētā Workshop is readying for its arrival with a brand-new trailer. It’s been described as a game about “finding joy in the small moments”, and features all the usual life sim activities – fishing, cooking, gathering, decorating, merrymaking – with a bit of a Lord of the Rings twist. So yes, you CAN decorate your hobbit’s hole. Tales of the Shire launches for Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on 29th July.

Haunted Paws

Haunted Paws trailer.Watch on YouTube

If your interests lie at the intersection of spooky mansions and adorable pups, prepare to have your day made. In developer LazyFlock’s supernatural adventure Haunted Paws, players – either solo or with a friend – control two brave (and customisable!) puppies as they explore a creepy old house in search of their human, who’s been kidnapped by sinister forces. It promises puzzles, lighthearted spookiness, and even a few emotional bits. There’s no release date for Haunted Paws yet, but it’s coming to Steam.

The Guardian of Nature

The Guardian of Nature trailer.Watch on YouTube

This wholesome, hand-drawn puzzle adventure from Inlusio Interactive is all about the interconnectedness of nature, and sees players embarking on a botanical journey as the lovably be-hatted Henry. Not only does Henry know his stuff about the natural world, he’s also able to change his size, meaning players can explore both above and below ground as they solve puzzles to assist nature. The Guardian of Nature launches into Steam early access today, and it’s coming to Switch, Xbox, iOS, and Android too.

Everdeep Aurora

Everdeep Aurora trailer.Watch on YouTube

If you’ve ever thought Dig Dug would be improved if its protagonist was a cat, Everdeep Aurora might be the game for you. It follows the apocalyptic adventures of a kitten named Shell as she explores subterranean depths in search of her mother. You’ll obliterate blocks, do some platforming, play mini-games, and converse with peculiar characters as you investigate the dark secrets buried below, all without a hint of combat. Its limited-colour pixel art looks wonderful, and it’s coming to Steam and Switch on 10th July.

Seasonala Cemetery

Seasonala Cemetery trailer.Watch on YouTube

From the creators of A Mortician’s Tale, the “meditative” Seasonala Cemetery is a “peaceful but poignant reflection on life and death”. It’s set in an expansive, living cemetery that changes dynamically based on your system’s time and date. The summer, for instance, might see the world bustling with vibrant life, while the winter brings quiet and snow. You can interact with NPCs and animals, rummage through nature, learn the history of the nearby city through its gravestones, or simply relax to its ambient sounds. Seasonala Cemetery is out today on Steam and itch.io, and is completely free.

Camper Van: Make it Home

Camper Van: Make it Home trailer.Watch on YouTube

One of (bizarrely) several camper-van-themed games currently in the works, developer Malpata Studio’s Make it Home is a pretty self-explanatory thing. You’ve got a camper van to make your own as it journey across beautiful, idyllic landscapes. Part of your goal is to solve organisational puzzles, but there’s laidback interior design too. Camper Van: Make it Home is available today, alongside a demo, on Steam.

Lynked: Banner of the Spark

Lynked: Banner of the Spark trailer.Watch on YouTube

FuzzyBot’s Lynked: Banner of the Spark is a cheerily colourful action-RPG, that’s part sci-fi roguelike, part relaxed life sim. At its most peaceful, you’ll farm, fish, gather materials, and build your base with help from your robot pals, but that’s all in service of its more frenetic hack-and-slash action. When you’re ready for some proper adventure, you can brave the wilds, battle evil robot forces with a large arsenal of weapons, and search for helpful bots to bring back home. Lynked is already available on Steam, but it’s coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S too.

Omelet You Cook

Omelet You Cook trailer.Watch on YouTube

In this chaotic cooking roguelike from SchuBox Games, you’re tasked with creating the perfect omelettes to satisfy your customers’ increasingly peculiar demands. That involves combining ingredients as they fly by on a conveyor belt, from the relatively mundane to the rather more dubious, in the hope of earning enough money to increase your provisions, add useful relics to your pantry, and, hopefully, please the fearsome Principal Clucker. It all looks wonderfully ridiculous, and it launches on Steam today.

Milano’s Odd Job Collection

Milano’s Odd Job Collection trailer.Watch on YouTube

Milano’s Odd Job Collection (known as Milano no Arubaito Collection in Japan) is coming to the west for the very first time. It follows the adventures of 11-year-old Milano as she’s left to her own devices over the summer. Free to do as she pleases, she embarks on a range of odd job – from pizza delivery to milking flying cows – in order to make money and have fun. Milano’s Odd Job Collection, from developer Westone, is coming to Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC later this year.

Fireseide Feelings

Fireseide Feelings trailer.Watch on YouTube

If you’ve got something to get off your chest, what better place to do it than by a roaring fire in a cosy forest glade? Fireside Feelings is described as a “mental wellness experience” promoting empathy, connection, and positivity between players. Situated cosily in your customisable camp, you’re able to answer questions on a range of topics, taking part in conversations between people “separated in space and time”. Conversations aren’t live, and there’s no direct interaction with others, but the goal, according to developer Team Empreintes, is to “share experiences, express your emotions, and be a part of a caring community”. It launches today on Steam.

All Will Rise

All Will Rise trailer.Watch on YouTube

Well here’s something you don’t see every day. All Will Rise is a “narrative courtroom deck-builder”, in which you and your team take a corrupt billionaire to court, accusing them of a river’s murder. That involves accumulating cards and using them to engage in conversation battles, attempting to charm, intimidate and manipulate those you meet around the vibrant city of Muziris. “Obey a dead river god’s summons – or defy them,” developer Speculative Agency explains. “Pass information to violent ecoterrorists – or maintain your pacifist ideals. Convince a corporate stooge to testify for you – or blackmail him with sensitive information. Your choices will determine the [city’s] fate.” All Will Rise is currently crowdfunding, but it’s aiming to launch on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and Steam.

Gecko Gods

Gecko Gods trailer.Watch on YouTube

It’s hard to go wrong with a gecko, which immediately gives developer Inresin’s Gecko Gods a bit of an advantage. What we’ve got here is a “serene lizard-sized puzzle-platformer” set on a beautiful archipelago, in which its tiny protagonist clambers across forgotten ruins, solving puzzles as they go. There are secrets of a lost civilisation to uncover, hidden paths, and more, all of which you’ll be able to explore for yourself when Gecko Gods launches for Switch, PS5, and Steam later this year. But if you’re an impatient sort, a Steam demo is available now.

One Move Away

One Move Away trailer.Watch on YouTube

If you quite fancied the idea of Unpacking, but thought it had far too much ‘taking stuff out of things’ for its own good, you might enjoy Ramage Games’ One Move Away, which is basically the inverse experience. Here, you play as three different characters, starting with a young girl in the 1980s, gradually learning more about them as you pack their belongings away ready for another chapter in their intertwining lives. All this plays out in first-person across 20 levels, and if that takes your fancy, a Steam demo’s out now ahead of a full launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Heidi’s Legacy: Mountains Calling

Heidi’s Legacy trailer.Watch on YouTube

As you’ve probably already guessed, Heidi’s Legacy: Mountains Calling takes inspiration from the classic children’s stories. Which is why it’s something of a surprise to learn its protagonist is called Adèle. Regardless, this is a game of grumpy old men, goat management, and alpine wandering, where you’ll explore the beautiful countryside with your bleating pals, foraging for herbs, mushrooms, and more in a bid to help the nearby village. You can unlock abilities that open up more of the world, and chat to the locals in branching conversations’ll that impact their lives. And as for those goats, they can provide milk, cheese, and wool. “Will you embrace slow living,” asks developer Humble Reeds, “or push for bolder change?”. Heidi’s Legacy is coming to PC “soon”.

Hotel Galatic

Hotel Galatic trailer.Watch on YouTube

In Hotel Galactic, you’re responsible for the running of a modular hotel on a strange cosmic island, which you’ll customise and optimise in order to provide guests with the perfect stay. There are resources to manage, a workforce to build, and more, as you cater to the demands of your ever-growing colony, all with assistance from your ghostly Grandpa Gustav. There’s a bit more to it than that, though, and the whole thing’s framed by a tale of love and vengeance that’s conveyed through some lovely anime-inspired art and animation. Hotel Galactic launches into Steam early access on 24th July, with consoles to follow, and a demo’s available now.

Out and About

Out and About trailer.Watch on YouTube

If it’s serene forest meandering you’re after, then look no further than Yaldi Games’ Out and About. It’s a “cosy foraging adventure” focused on exploring nature and identifying real-life plants and fungi. You’ll cook recipes, make herbal remedies, and help rebuild your community after a devastating storm, all while hopefully learning a bit of botanical knowledge you can take out into the real-world. Out and About looks to be aiming for a 2025 release on PC, with a console launch to follow. And if it’s piqued your curiosity, you can test out a Steam demo now.

Discounty

Discounty trailer.Watch on YouTube

Forget the farm life; how about managing your own discount supermarket in a small harbour town? That’s the premise of Discounty from Crinkle Cut Games, which sees you designing and organising your shop, managing stock levels, working the checkout, and striking trade deals. You’ll make friends, navigate local drama, and expand your empire, but that doesn’t mean you have to play nice. After all, can you really become filthy rich without making a few lifelong enemies along the way? Discounty launches for Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on 21st August and, yup, a demo’s available now on Steam.

Islanders: New Shores

Islanders: New Shores trailer.Watch on YouTube

We’re big fans of developer GrizzlyGames’ minimalist city builder Islanders around these parts, so news publisher Coatsink was developing a sequel earlier this year came as a pleasant surprise. It is, if you’re unfamiliar, a game about attempting to squeeze as much onto a procedurally generated island as possible, maximising building synergies and minimising penalties to get the highest score. New Shores sounds like a gentle finessing of the formula, rather than a radical reinvention – it’s got a sandbox mode as well as a high score mode now, alongside new power-ups called “boons” – but that’s okay. The big news is it now has a release date and is coming to Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam on 10th July.

Collector’s Cove

Collector’s Cove trailer.Watch on YouTube

VoodooDuck’s Collector’s Cove might be yet another farming game, but it does at least have a unique twist. For starters, your farm is on a boat endlessly sailing the oceans AND it’s powered by an adorable sea monster who you’ll need to forge a bond with. As you set out on a tranquil adventure across the water, you’ll farm, fish, craft, and personalise your surroundings, sometimes stopping off at passing islands to catalogue their unique flora. Collector’s Cove doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s coming to PC and a Steam demo’s available now.

Town to City

Town to City trailer.Watch on YouTube

Fans of minimalist railway game Station to Station might want to pay attention here. Town to City is developer Galaxy Grove’s follow-up to that earlier puzzler, sporting a similar voxel art aesthetic and vibe. This time around, you’re charged with building quaint picturesque towns by placing shops, houses, amenities, decorations, and more – all in a bid to please your residents and encourage more to move in. Eventually, you’ll have multiple towns under your care, helping the whole region grow and thrive. Town to City doesn’t have a release date yet, but you can play a demo on Steam.

Fishbowl

Fishbowl trailer.Watch on YouTube

And finally for the big, non-montage reveals, it’s Fishbowl, a coming-of-age tale told over the course of a month. Developer imissmyfriends.studio describes it as a “warm and cozy story about living in isolation, nurturing friendships and understanding grief”, and it’s all focused on 21-year-old video editor Alo as she works from home while mourning her grandmother. As the days tick by, you’ll video call loved ones, work to assemble videos, do care tasks, and solve puzzles to unpack your grandmother’s belongings – recovering childhood memories as you do. There’s no release date for Fishbowl yet, but it’s coming to PS5 and Steam.

Day of the Devs 2025 – everything announced in the big indie showcase

by admin June 7, 2025

Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest might have brought the glitz, glamour, and bombastic reveals, but we’re not done yet. Indie enjoyers also have plenty to look forward to, thanks to another strong showing from Day of the Devs, which this year was full of old friends. Over the course of an hour, we got a first look at new games from the studios behind the likes of Guacamelee, Untitled Goose Game, Abzu, Artful Escape, Thirsty Suitors, and more. It was a busy showcase, then, delivering everything from “spicy” RPGs and psychedelic western nightmares to Edward Hopper-inspired horror and even a little bit of Marvel. So if your wishlist is ready to welcome some new arrivals, read on for the full run-down of everything announced during the Day of the Devs showcase.

Snap & Grab

In developer No Goblin’s Snap & Grab, high fashion meets high stakes crime. It’s the 1980s and no-one suspects that you, a famous fashion photographer, also happens to be an infamous master thief – using your cover, as well as your camera, to identify high value items and anything that might help or hinder your plans when night falls and your crime spree begins. You’ll gather intel, use your photos to assemble a step-by-step plan, and even try and shake off the detective on your tail. Snap & Grab, which is being published by Annapurna Interactive, comes to Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S “early next year”.

Big Walk

Whatever happened, you might occasionally ask yourself, to House House, the studio behind Untitled Goose Game? Well, here’s your answer. After nearly six years away, the developer is back with Big Walk, a co-op multiplayer adventure that’s “about the joy of muddling through things together”. It’s very much a game of talking and walking with your (weird blobby ant) friends, where the silly challenges found across its big open world are designed with collaboration and proximity based communication in mind. So much so, you’ve got signs, megaphones, flares, and more for those moments when you need to go your own separate ways. It looks wonderfully distinctive and is launching next year.

Sword of the Sea

And here’s another studio that’s been out of the spotlight for a while. We last saw Giant Squid, the developer responsible for acclaimed deep sea adventure Abzu, in 2021, when it released The Pathless. And now it’s preparing to return with Sword of the Sea, another visually striking, ethereal adventure that this time takes inspiration from an unexpected source: the world of board sports. There’s a touch of skate boarding, snow boarding, and surfing here, in a game that’s all about getting into a high-speed flow state as you grind, half pipe, and careen across the desolate, surreal Necropolis on your Hoversword trying to restore the ocean. Austin Wintory provides the music once more and it launches 19th August on PS5 and PC.

Escape Academy 2: Back to School

Coin Crew Games’ original Escape Academy was pretty much what it sounded like, capitalising on the escape room trend by turning those big old physical spaces into a cheaper, more convenient digital equivalent you could enjoy with friends without ever needing to lift your bum off a seat. And now its back with a second outing that takes the familiar escape room concept and goes open-world. There’s talk of a “living, breathing” campus, full of secrets and environmental storytelling, that essentially functions as one giant puzzle as you explore and take on character-driven quests that mix challenges and escape rooms. There’s no release date for this one yet but it’s coming to Steam.

Mixtape

If you loved prog-rock platform adventure Artful Escape, you might be wondering what developer Beethoven and Dinosaur has been up to since its release in 2021. And Mixtape, a game about “life and friends and the music that gets us through it”, is your answer. It’s a coming-of-age action-adventure focusing on three friends as they spend their last night together, all set to the “soundtrack of a generation”. As Mixtape unfolds, you’ll experience nostalgic narrative vignettes exploring the pivotal moments that shaped its leads, from a first kiss to a high-speed shopping trolley pursuit and abandoned theme park photography. It’s got a striking animation style reminiscent of the Spider-Verse movies, and an impressive soundtrack featuring the likes of Joy Division, Devo, Smashing Pumpkins, Roxy Music, Iggy Pop, and The Cure. There’s no release date yet, but it’s coming to PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Epic, and Game Pass.

Blighted

Drinkbox Studios has become a favourite on the indie scene thanks to the likes of Guacamelee and Nobody Saves the World, and three years after the release of that last game, we now know what it’s been working on. Blighted is described as a “hardcore action Metroidvania set in a psychedelic western nightmare”, and it sees players exploring a strange world full of secrets that only becomes stranger once you begin harnessing your character’s reality altering disease, which attracts enemies and shifts your perception of your surroundings. That manifests in the game’s dynamic difficulty, which constantly changes the environments you experience and the enemies you’ll battle. Blighted supports full co-op across its campaign and will eventually be heading to Steam.

Dosa Divas

Hot off 2023’s acclaimed cooking-and-skating adventure Thirsty Suitors, Outerloop Games is back with Dosa Divas. It’s a “spicy RPG” set in a cute low-poly world that sees players embarking on a journey to battle their “salty” sister and crush her fast-food empire. On the way, you’ll explore villages, battle corporate goons, reconnect with loves ones, and more, and it’s all brought together by a turn-based combat system with a timing element reminiscent of Paper Mario. And like its predecessor, there’s a food element too, requiring players to match enemy flavour cravings to break down their defences, cook fresh ingredients to wake communities from a fast food haze, and more. It’s launching “early 2026”.

Possessor(s)

Hyper Light Breaker studio Heart Machine’s Possessor(s) is a real eye-catcher. It’s a fast-paced, action-heavy side-scroller set in a flooded city overrun with surreal interdimensional horrors. You play as Luca, who’s merged with a less-than-cooperative demon after making a deal to survive the disaster. Luckily, the demon’s powers come in handy out in the world, and you’ll use them throughout the game’s “tense, precise” platform-fighter-inspired combat. Heart Machine is referring to Possessor(s) as a “search-action” game, and there’s talk of powerful weapons and upgrades that’ll help unlock previously inaccessible areas, plus characters to meet, each with their own “heart-breaking” story to tell. Possessor(s) launches later this year and there’s a Steam demo available now.

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault

Developer Digital Sun’s Moonlighter 2 feels like it’s done the full tour of indie showcases recently, but it popped up again during Day of the Devs to tease just a little more of what’s in store. At its core, it retains the same mix of rogue-lite dungeon-crawling and shop management as its predecessor, but it does have a few new tricks up its sleeve – including a new visual style, which replaces the original’s charming pixel art with striking 3D. There’s also promise of new mechanics, new enemies, perks, and other rewards as players go dungeoning for sellable loot, and that’s alongside improved combat, synergistic shop effects, and more. If you were hoping for a release date, you’re out of luck, but we do at least now know it’s coming to PC, Xbox, and Game Pass this “summer”.

Please, Watch the Artwork

In developer Thomas Waterzooi’s Please, Touch the Artwork, players were actively encouraged to palpate the classics of the art world. It’s hands-off for follow-up Please, Watch the Artwork, though, where it’s all about using your eyes. You’re a nightwatchman at the Museum of Animated Modern Art, meaning it’s your job to keep a lookout as the sun goes down and figure out exactly what’s going on. Wazooi calls Please, Watch the Artwork a “psychological spot the difference game”, and the tone, while jump-scare free, is very much horror-adjacent. There is, you see, a mysterious sad clown running around spreading its sorrow across the museum’s Edward Hopper-inspired paintings, and you’ll need to study them carefully and report any anomalies. There’s no release date for Please, Watch the Artwork yet, but it’s aiming to launch this Halloween.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion

We’re big fans of Tribute Games around these parts, and after a string of treats including Mercenary Kings, Flinthook, and 2022’s stellar Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, it’s making a return with Marvel Cosmic Invasion. It’s another retro-inspired beat-em’up, only this time set in the Marvel universe. That means a range of iconic locations, from New York City to the Negative Zone, as well as 15 playable superheroes. These’ll include Venom, Captain America, Storm, Rocket Racoon, and She-Hulk, each designed around their strengths and powers. Marvel Cosmic Invasion, which was announced earlier this year, launches for PC and consoles “this holiday”.

Neverway

What if cosy farming sim, but also horrific nightmare? That appears to be the starting point for developer Coldblood Inc’s Neverway, which makes its showcase return after being unveiled earlier this year. It’s a life sim RPG that leans into the horror as protagonist Fiona quits her job, starts a new chapter on a farm and, in something of a departure for the genre, gets recruited as the immortal herald of a dead god. It’s got all the usual stuff – fishing, farming, friending, crafting, and a mortgage to pay off as Fiona tries to keep her life on track – but a weird reality is starting to leak in. And that means nightmarish monsters to fight, which you can do using your sword, hook shot, and other abilities you’ll gain as you start to make friends. There’s no word of a release date for Neverway yet, but it’s coming to Steam.

Relooted

Developer Nyamakop’s Relooted has an immediately intriguing concept, whisking players to a future where the west has signed a treaty promising to repatriate African artefacts – inevitably, however, museums have found a loophole. You play as a band of thieves determined to return these artefacts to their rightful home, in a game melding action and puzzling. In the first phase, you’ll case a joint, collecting information about the obstacles you’ll face and where each artefact is stored (locations are invented, but the artefacts you loot are very much real and you’ll learn a little about each one as you play). Next, you’ll roam the level, making sure the pieces are in place for your daring escape, then finally you execute your plan, hopefully evading capture with your prize. Relooted is coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S at some undisclosed future time.

Ratatan

Here’s another one that’s been popping up all over the place recently. Ratatan is the spiritual successor to Sony Japan Studio’s beloved PlayStation Portable rhythm-adventure Patapon, and it’s being helmed by original Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani. Ratatan’s Day of the Dev showing offered another small peek at its roguelike, rhythmic side-scrolling action, in which players build an army of 100 Cobun to take on foes. It continues to look pretty delightful, but what we still don’t have is a release date. Ratatan was originally due to arrive on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC this April, but it’s now targeting a more nebulous “2025”.

Thick as Thieves

After its grand unveiling last year, Thick as Thieves is back for another airing. It’s the work of Otherside, a studio co-founded by the father of the immersive sim Warren Spector, and is described as having “all the bells and whistles” of the genre, but with a multiplayer twist. It’s essentially what you’d get if Spector’s Thief – or the likes of Arkane’s Dishonoured – had a bunch of other player-controlled naughty sorts running around. Each match promises a fresh experience out in the labyrinthine city, be it with different weather, different available shops, or different objectives for players to stealth their way through. Thick as Thieves’ Day of the Devs showing brought a bit more gameplay, which’ll have to tide you over until its PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S arrival next year.

Pocket Boss

Developer Playables calls Pocket Boss a “short game about the small joys of manipulating data”, but as delightfully nerdy as that sounds, it’s not quite the spreadsheet orgy you might be picturing. Instead, Pocket Boss presents players with a world where all sorts of charts have come to life and, through a series of mini-games, you’ll need to tame them. “You are in touch with your boss through a chat interface, where you get all kinds of requests,” explains the official blurb. “Erase competitors with a finger swipe, navigate the stock market without crashing… Your boss will verify if everything looks correct – and, most importantly – beautiful.” Pocket Boss, with its “intimate encounter with data”, is out later this year on Steam.

Consume Me

Consume Me is a “darkly humorous” autobiographical coming-of-age story about creator Jenny Jiao Hsia’s relationship with food, and it started life as a “collection of prototypes which drew from [her] past experiences with dieting and disordered eating.” It sees players taking control of Jenny in her final year of high school, where they’ll need to “make meticulous scheduling decisions to maximise [their] glow-up! Solve the puzzle game of dieting! Evade distractions as you pursue scholarly success! Do chores to get money from mom at a rate much lower than minimum wage!” It promises a bit of puzzling, some strategic decision-making, and over 13 possible endings, “most of them bad”. And if that appeals, it’s out 25th September on PC.

Off

I’ll be honest, cult role-playing game Off was entirely unfamiliar to me before its Day of the Devs appearance, but it’s apparently a pretty big deal. It launched back in 2008, and was the open inspiration for Toby Fox’s beloved Undertale, as well as similar successors such as One Shot. It sees players, in the role of the Batter, seeking to “purify an uncanny and hopeless world haunted by spectres, guided by a cryptic, grinning cat called The Judge”. And now 17 years after its original release, one of its creators, Mortis Ghost, is reviving it for modern platforms. This updated version includes six new bosses, a new soundtrack, and revamped combat – and it’s coming to Steam and Switch on 15th August.

Tire Boy

Stand aside Mario and Sonic, Tire Boy is here! In developer GameTeam6’s open-world action- adventure platformer, players are cast as the fast-and-nimble Tire Boy, a gentle sort who’s roaming the vast landscape searching for traces of his past. Along the way, he’ll help a quirky cast of characters, solve environmental puzzles, and engage in “whimsical” combat using roll-based abilities and found objects ranging from dried fish to saxophones – all in an effort to piece together a broken radio transmitter. GameTeam6 calls Tire Boy “weird, heartfelt, and full of little surprises”, and it’s on its way to Steam.

Toem 2

And finally, developer Something We Made has returned to debut first gameplay of its photography puzzler sequel Toem 2. Just as before, you’re touring a whimsical world to snap pictures of strange phenomenon, but there’s something new to seek out this time. Along the way, you’ll meet NPCs known as “friends”, each with own their quest lines that’ll unlock new camera tools expanding the ways you can interact with your surroundings. You’ll get scissors for cutting through stuff in your viewfinder, for instance, and a hammer for smashing things, and these’ll work in conjunction with Toem 2’s expanded mobility options, including jumping and climbing. Sadly, there’s still no word of a release date, but it’s coming to PC.

Where to watch the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 and Outer Worlds 2 Direct

by admin June 6, 2025

Microsoft’s annual Xbox Games Showcase is a double header this year: It’s directly followed by the Outer Worlds 2 Direct, a livestream focused on Obsidian Entertainment’s forthcoming space-faring RPG.

Here’s everything we know about the two events, including where to watch Xbox Games Showcase 2025 (and the Outer Worlds 2 Direct), what time the shows start, and what to expect from the streams.

Xbox Showcase 2025 and Outer Worlds 2 Direct start times

As announced on Xbox Wire, the show will begin on June 8 at 1 p.m. ET. Translated to different time zones, here’s when the livestream starts:

Where to watch Xbox Games Showcase 2025

You can watch the Xbox Showcase livestream on the official Xbox YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook channels, or via the YouTube embed at the top of this post. Note that the Xbox Showcase is immediately followed by an Outer Worlds 2 showcase, so if you’re fond of outer space adventures, you might want to stay tuned for that one.

A countdown timer will likely start shortly before the show. No worries if you miss it though; you can always watch the archived stream after the event, or catch up with all of the biggest announcements on Polygon after the show.

What to expect from Xbox Games Showcase 2025

The Xbox Games Showcase, befitting the name, will largely focus on with previews of upcoming games from Xbox Game Studios.

It’s hard to predict which games you will see, but since they’re set to release in the upcoming months, it’s a good bet Ninja Gaiden 4 and Gears of War: Reloaded will appear in some capacity. It would also make sense to get another update on Perfect Dark, which got a gameplay reveal in 2024’s Xbox Games Showcase and is now scheduled for a 2026 release. Fable, which was recently delayed to 2026, could also get a showing.

Many of you will undoubtedly hope for an update on The Elder Scrolls 6 too — given the renewed focus on the series in light of April 2025’s surprise release of the Oblivion Remake — but besides “it’s been a while,” we don’t have any evidence that points to an Xbox Showcase appearance this year.

The one thing that has been confirmed is a deep dive into The Outer Worlds 2, the sequel to Obsidian’s sci-fi RPG The Outer Worlds.

Summer Game Fest 2025 Opening Showcase live stream and blog

by admin June 6, 2025

The annual cascade of Summer Game Fest broadcasts formally begins tonight with the Opening Showcase at 10pm UK time (11pm CEST/5pm EDT/2pm PDT). We’ll report all of the major announcements from it here, as they happen, while also chatting with you. So grab a tea or a coffee, or something harder if you like, and join us for the show.

Tonight’s Opening Showcase is expected to be a long one with a projected runtime of around two hours. It’ll be hosted by Geoff Keighley, as ever, although he’ll be joined this year by friend-of-Eurogamer Lucy James, which is nice. You’ll know her from GameSpot.

Keighley has kept a tight lid on announcements for tonight, although a couple of promo reels for the show have included footage from Death Stranding 2, new James Bond game 007: First Light, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, and a bunch of other games I don’t immediately recognise. There’s also been an uptick in Resident Evil 9 speculation ahead of the show, suggesting a possible unveiling tonight. Wouldn’t that be nice?

What’ve you got, Geoff, what’ve you got.Watch on YouTube

This week’s gaming festivities were kicked off on Wednesday by a PlayStation State of Play broadcast, which unveiled 007: First Light to the world, resurrected Capcom’s lost-in-development Pragmata, debuted Silent Hill F, revealed a new Lumines game, and more.

Tonight’s Opening Showcase will be followed directly by Day of the Devs, and then by a packed weekend of broadcasts including an Xbox Showcase on Sunday at 6pm UK time. I’ll return to live-report that show. We’ve compiled a full Summer Games Fest 2025 schedule elsewhere on the site.

Join us shortly before 10pm UK time for the show. In the meantime, speculate away – what would you like to see?

Let’s hope so! I can only imagine the comments if this does actually ever happen.

Good afternoon! Here we go, then. This is the big one. There should at least be an announcement or two in here to get excited about. Ian Higton just made a good point while asking what the rooster or chicken was about in the headline image, to which I said “I don’t know” because I didn’t put it there – the Summer Games Fest Twitter/X account did. Could it be a nod to Fable 4?
