NFT sales show modest recovery, Pudgy Penguins jump 110%

by admin September 14, 2025

After weeks of steep declines in participation, the non-fungible token (NFT) market is showing early signs of stabilization, buoyed by a broader crypto rebound.

While overall buyer and seller activity has plunged nearly 70%, transaction volumes are creeping higher, and specific blockchains and collections are breaking out with double-digit growth.

At last check on Saturday, Bitcoin (BTC) topped $115,800 — up 5.2% over the past seven days — and Ethereum (ETH) hovered above $4,600, up 9.1% for the week.

Summary

  • NFT sales posted modest 4.7% recovery to $106.6 million
  • Market participation collapsed with buyer and seller counts dropping around 70%
  • Gaming collections dominated performance with Mythos Chain surging to second place

According to data from CryptoSlam, this marks the first positive growth in several weeks following a series of declines.

Market participation has contracted sharply, with NFT buyers falling by 69.84% to 180,693, and NFT sellers declining by 70.87% to 123,713. NFT transactions have increased by 2.60% to 1,754,295.

Ethereum has surged to the $4,700 level. The global crypto market cap is now $4.07 trillion, up from last week’s market cap of $3.81 trillion.

Mythos Chain sales jump over 40%

The buyer count declined across all blockchains, with BNB Chain leading at 84.35% growth as the only platform posting gains. At the same time, others saw drops ranging from 65% to 80%.

  • Ethereum maintains the lead with $34.1 million in sales and dropped 7.45% from the previous week. Ethereum’s wash trading has fallen by 52.47% to $3.1 million.
  • Mythos Chain advances to second place with $14.3 million, with 41.63%.
  • Polygon (POL) drops to third with $13.6 million, falling 13.82%.
  • BNB Chain (BNB) holds fourth with $10.3 million, up 7.96%.
  • Bitcoin sits in fifth with $9.4 million, rising 19.49%.
  • Immutable (IMX) climbs to sixth with $8.7 million, surging 69.41%.

Pudgy Penguins sales jump 110%

  • Courtyard on Polygon retains the top spot in collection rankings with $12.6 million in sales, declining 13.81%. The collection has experienced drops in both buyers (54.79%) and sellers (88.32%).
  • DMarket reaches second place with $8.9 million, jumping 83.55%. The gaming marketplace has benefited from Mythos Chain’s strong performance.
  • Guild of Guardians Heroes climbs to third position with $4.8 million, rising 67.68%. The gaming collection has seen growth across transactions (44.65%) and buyers (29.18%).

The pair end up at a strange party held at a castle owned by the mysterious Dr. Frank-N-Furter–played by Tim Curry in his debut on-screen role. Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin reenact the 'hear no evil' trio pose

I watched Only Murders in the Building season 5 and it’s the best season of the hit Hulu show yet

by admin September 8, 2025

Why you can trust TechRadar

We spend hours testing every product or service we review, so you can be sure you’re buying the best. Find out more about how we test.

You know those shows that feel like a warm hug whenever they return to our screens, even if their subject matter isn’t always savory? Only Murders in the Building season 5 is exactly that, and for me, it’s by far the best installment of the Hulu show to date.

For anyone that needs a recap, poor Arconia doorman Lester (Teddy Coluca) was bumped off at the end of season 4, leaving our clumsy podcasters Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) to try and solve the crime in new episodes. Pretty much all of our Arconia residents and recurring cast members return for more distant sleuthing, with new guest stars Renée Zellweger, Dianne Wiest and Keegan-Michael Key each having a crucial role to play.

It’s rare that a TV show can get me to laugh out loud, resist fast-forwarding through typical filler scenes and try to jump the gun by deciding who the murderer is even if I’m wrong, but the quickly turned-around season 5 has managed that with ease.

It’s more of the same, unsurprisingly, but you can’t mess with near perfection, can you? We passed the signpost warning us of ridiculous storylines back in season 1… so of course we’re all in for this delicious new round of chaos. Can it be more unhinged? Turns out, yes.

Only Murders in the Building season 5 kicks things up another notch

Only Murders in the Building | Season 5 Trailer | Hulu – YouTube

Watch On

Obviously, I’d be committing the cardinal whodunnit sin if I gave away any spoilers, but I can tell you that I’ve not enjoyed a season of Only Murders in the Building as much as I have with season 5. Why? Mostly because we’ve got the perfect balance of old and new. Our main cast have embodied their roles so well that they’re essentially symbiotic, while our new players are introduced in ways that continue to surprise and delight.

I started episode 1 thinking season 5 was basically a glorified Disney channel for adults who don’t want to age out of their silliness – and then I realized that’s exactly what the show’s been this entire time. Everything about its composition is incredibly playful, able to manipulate the typical boundaries of genre and structure that we’d normally see our best streaming services rigidly stick to. In a nutshell, it’s in its own lane.

The chemistry between Martin, Short and Gomez is obviously what’s continuing to drive all of this. I genuinely believe that they’re unlikely best friends both on and off camera, and the fact that the podcasters know each other as well as they know themselves only makes the overall story land that much more naturally.

Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more.

I’m still surprised at how well some of the one-liner zingers land, somehow veering away from cringe-worthy tropes and straight into laughs that register across different generations. This, if nothing else, is the sign that something is well-crafted and knows exactly what it is and what it wants to achieve.

I know Meryl Streep is Meryl Streep, but I need more

Meryl Streep as Loretta in Only Murders in the Building. (Image credit: Hulu)

If I really had to pick Only Murders in the Building season 5 apart – and I wouldn’t be a good reviewer if I didn’t – there are some small details that could bother me if I let them. We’re effectively just getting more of exactly the same without any distinct changes, and what is different is incredibly far-fetched.

Four people have died in The Arconia by the time season 5 kicks off, and street smarts should tell us that every single resident should have moved out by now. Obviously, the fact that more death is now on the horizon requires a belief suspension so big, it’s practically floating on the ceiling. But if you’ve taken anything seriously up until this point, that’s on you.

My biggest gripe is that season 5 has the least amount of Meryl Streep screen time since her arrival in season 3. When I was 17, I co-founded a Meryl Streep fan club at school called The Mezralites around the time The Iron Lady came out. There were only two of us, and we got t-shirts made. I’ve been the equivalent of Cam in Modern Family ever since (who once said: “Meryl Streep could play Batman and be the right choice”), so nothing short of constant exposure is ever going to be enough for me.

Still, you can find her in the latter half of season 5, and it’s majorly worth the wait. Loretta (Streep’s character) decides to play a Danish clairvoyant for reasons that will become clear when you watch, and my side were splitting watching her. There’s no presence, Awards chat or need to be an icon here: The Arconia is her actor’s playground, and she’s letting rip.

Having said all of this, you don’t fix something that isn’t broke. Of course Only Murders in the Building was never going to deviate away from a hugely successful format and brand, and we should be thanking our lucky stars that season 5 is just as good as it ever was (nay, better). Shoutout to Zellweger for being the best and campiest guest star we’ve had on in the last few years, and being the only person to match Oliver’s unique brand of unhinged self-delusion.

DOGE Nears 16 Billion in Open Interest as Investors Show Resilience

by admin September 7, 2025

The stability in Dogecoin’s price outlook over the past day has also extended to its futures market as DOGE’s open interest across all supported crypto exchanges shows no visible movement.

According to data from CoinGlass, speculative activities surrounding the leading meme coin slowed down on Sept. 6 as the market has DOGE show a slight decline of 0.13% in its open interest over the last 24 hours.

15,650,000,000 DOGE remain unmoved

While the market has seen the market price of leading cryptocurrencies, including meme coins, experience a notable rebound to their previous highs, momentum appears to be on pause as speculative activities across the broad crypto market appear to be slowing down.

With the market showing signs for deeper price plunges, DOGE investors have shown resilience as they appear to have not made any notable exits from the derivatives market despite the fading momentum.

According to data provided by the source, the amount of DOGE committed to its futures market still stands close to $16 billion. With the total amount of all unsettled futures contracts placed on Dogecoin still worth about 3.36 billion as of press time, it appears that investors are still positive about the future price outlook of Dogecoin.

Although the metric shows a slight decline in the last day, DOGE’s open interest still suggests unwavering confidence among investors as only a few futures contracts have been closed during the period despite the negative price action.

The data further shows that the renowned cryptocurrency exchange Gate holds the highest amount of outstanding DOGE futures contracts opened across its broad derivatives market. Out of the total futures contracts opened during the day, the outstanding contracts yet to be settled on Gate stand at over $878 million.

While Binance also appears to be carrying most of DOGE’s bullish investors, it accounts for 19.65% of the total DOGE open interest registered in the past day, sitting decently at $658.38 million.

The stable movement in DOGE’s futures market has fueled curiosity among investors as they continue to question the possibility of a potential rebound in the price of the leading meme coin as this may be signaling the start of a bear season.

While market participants appear to be optimistic for a possible recovery in the price of Dogecoin, the bigger question remains on the possibility of another price breakout before the bull season finally wraps up.

In rare show of hacking for joy, Blue Archive player fills the world with clones of their favourite character

by admin September 6, 2025

Late last month, players of Nexon’s tactical schoolgirl gacha fest Blue Archive were horrified to discover that their universe had undergone Koyukification. For context, Kurosaki Koyuki is one of Blue Archive’s recruitable characters, a twin-tailed pinkhead known for her immense natural code-breaking skills, her passion for gambling, and her mischievous persona.

On August 31st, Blue Archivists logged onto discover that Koyuki had multiplied like a virus. Cafes and arcades teemed with duplicates of the character. Her snaggle-toothed rictus filled the game’s recruitment banners. The very information page – once a source of guidance and solace to so many – had been edited to read “nihahaha”, in mimicry of the character’s giggle.

It was kind of like this scene from Being John Malkovich, if John Malkovich had been a freakazoid 15-year-old piker armed with a light machinegun. And also, the closing scenes from Matrix Revolutions (Koyuki’s in-game nickname is “White Rabbit”), if Neo and Agent Smith had decided to lay off the kung fu and sample the local parfait.

How to explain these nightmarish events? It was a hack, obviously. As reported by Automaton West, publishers Nexon took Blue Archive offline for a few hours that Sunday to expunge the excess Koyukis and carry out an investigation. Seemingly, this was the good kind of hack, carried out for the glee of it rather than to filch anybody’s credit card details. Or at least, that’s what they’re saying publicly.

According to Nexon’s subsequent notice to players, somebody managed to break into the game’s content delivery network and mess with the environment settings, which are managed separately from the game itself, redirecting them to an IP address in the Netherlands.

The hacker’s changes only “affected the client-side content display”, it seems. Nexon say that “players’ accounts, game data, and payment information were not affected, as they are operated in a separate database and always revalidated by the game server.”

You may find the idea of your online gameworld being suddenly suffused by goblin cryptanalysts amusing. Rest assured that Nexon do not. Aside from introducing new restrictions and countermeasures, they’ve reported the whole ordeal to the Korea Internet & Security Agency. They’ve also prepared a player compensation package of in-game McGuffins to say sorry for the emergency maintenance period. Thoughts and prayers, etc.

Is Blue Archive worth playing post-Koyukification? I can tell you nothing save that this trailer thoroughly weirded me out with its bright and breezy scenes of school life in which everybody present is packing enough firepower to clear out a Terminid nest.

Producers of newly announced Life is Strange TV show say it “deserves to be more than just a game”

by admin September 6, 2025

Life is Strange is the latest video game confirmed to be getting a TV adaptation.

As first reported by Variety, Amazon Prime Video has greenlit a live-action Life is Strange show. It’ll be led, produced, and penned by The End of the F***ing World writer, Charlie Covell, alongside Story Kitchen executive producers, Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson.

Eurogamer’s Life is Strange: Double Exposure review in video form.Watch on YouTube

“Story Kitchen has always believed that Life is Strange deserved to be more than just a game – it’s a cultural touchstone,” said Story Kitchen’s Johnson and Goldberg.

“After a decade-long journey, we’re honoured to be bringing this beloved story to Amazon MGM alongside our incredible partners at Square Enix, our brilliant showrunner/writer Charlie Covell, and the amazing team at LuckyChap. Together, this thoughtfully assembled dream team is ready to share Life is Strange with the world in an entirely new way!”

“It’s a huge honour to be adapting Life Is Strange for Amazon MGM Studios,” Covell added. “I am a massive fan of the game, and I’m thrilled to be working with the incredible teams at Square Enix, Story Kitchen, and LuckyChap. I can’t wait to share Max and Chloe’s story with fellow players and new audiences alike.”

Square Enix studio heads Jon Brooke and Lee Singleton said, “For years we’ve had so many people asking us to create a Life is Strange TV show, and we’re so pleased to finally partner with Amazon MGM Studios, who we trust will do an incredible job bringing our universe to life.”

The franchise’s most recent release, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, launched amidst a major backlash from fans upset at how the game handled the ongoing storyline of returning protagonist Max Caulfield, and the impact of players’ choice at the beginning of Life is Strange 1.

The situation turned uglier when Square Enix removed leaked development material from a popular Life is Strange fan subreddit, even though commenters provided proof they worked at Deck Nine and claimed Double Exposure’s story changed due to feedback from Square Enix itself. Square Enix said it had acted to remove the content based on “appropriate legal requirements” for “intellectual property violations”.

“Like its own hero’s dabbling with time travel, Life is Strange: Double Exposure highlights the troubles of trying to revisit old memories, while raising unanswered questions about the future,” we wrote in Eurogamer’s Life is Strange: Double Exposure review.

Apple will need to show off truly unique AI features for the iPhone 17 to convince me to upgrade

by admin September 6, 2025

Apple’s next big iPhone event is just around the corner, and the iPhone 17 lineup is likely to take center stage. I’ll be looking to see how Apple melds the new hardware with its AI ambitions. Because unless there’s something unique to the new devices, specifically relating to AI, I’m not sure I really want to upgrade.

There have been rumors flying around Apple’s AI plans ever since Apple Intelligence started rolling out. But that has mostly seemed like just the same set of AI features available on every device with an occasional Apple twist. If the company wants this launch to stand out, it’ll need to show how the iPhone 17 can do something that no other Apple device, perhaps no other smartphone, can do using AI. Something connected to the hardware.

My high expectations fit with Apple’s teasing of “Awe Dropping” news. Presumably, that’s not just because of how much the high-end version of the new phones will cost. But Apple will need more than just a coat of AI paint on the otherwise impressive piece of technology.

You may like

Unique AI

Apple has come off as pretty cautious about AI until now. Sure, Apple Intelligence can help with rewriting emails, summarizing notes, and making personalized emojis, but it’s hardly rewriting how people live their lives.

I admit I’m not sure what my ideal announcement would be. But it shouldn’t be just another text editor or image generator. I want an AI feature that feels like it couldn’t exist on anything but this phone. Something so tightly tied to the hardware, sensors, and Apple ecosystem that it becomes immediately obvious why this phone couldn’t have come out last year or even last week.

Perhaps it’s an AI model that can read my expression and start giving me directions home just from a confused look on my face. Or turning a still into an AI-powered GIF faster than I could type a description of one.

I’m not expecting a holographic AI double of myself to appear in the air or anything, but so many ideas we’ve accepted as common features would have been far-fetched at best a few years ago. And the new iPhones are certain to have the hardware to power some wild ideas. Faster processors, keen sensors, and neural engines that can mimic human conversation at an astonishing level are capable of doing much more than creating an emoji of a dog with a cowboy hat.

Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more.

So if Apple wants to win me over at this upcoming iPhone event, I don’t need another time-lapse video of Cupertino drone shots and a Jony Ive knockoff voice; I want to see AI doing things my phone never could. Otherwise, I’m happy sticking with my already quite powerful device that’s already paid for. When Tim Cook says there’s one more thing, it should be something I won’t be able to see anywhere else.

Google Play Games is about to show people what you play

by admin September 2, 2025

Google is updating user profiles for its Play Games service on Android devices to display gaming stats, achievements, and social features. The changes include a suite of new capabilities for “showcasing and tracking your game progress and stats, new ways to build your gaming community, and allowing you to tailor your profile to your liking,” according to Google’s help page.

The update will be applied automatically, and starts rolling out in most global regions on September 23rd, and on October 1st for users in the EU and UK. Google is also emailing Google Play users directly to notify them about the changes. When applied, Google Play Games profiles and features will start appearing on the Google Play Store to prevent users from having to switch between apps when managing their accounts.

The unified update aims to help users who make their profile information public to connect with other players and track their gaming milestones. It’s unclear what this will specifically entail, but it sounds similar to how player information, gaming history, and achievements are currently displayed on Valve’s Steam service.

China Is About to Show Off Its New High-Tech Weapons to the World

by admin September 1, 2025

China is preparing for one of the most anticipated and politically charged military events in recent years. On September 3, in Tiananmen Square, China will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japan in World War II with a spectacular military parade that is not only a ritual of historical remembrance but also a message to the entire world to be prepared for the war of the future.

President Xi Jinping and several foreign leaders and officials, including Vladimir Putin, will attend the ceremony. The Russian president’s presence is reported to have prompted several European ambassadors to consider defecting from the event, fearing it would contribute to the Kremlin’s international legitimization amid the ongoing war against Ukraine.

China’s New Weapons Send a Message

The parade will last about 70 minutes and will see dozens of formations parading down Chang’an Avenue in the heart of Beijing. Xi, as supreme commander of the armed forces, will review the troops before the march through the square. More than 10,000 military personnel, more than 100 aircraft, and hundreds of ground vehicles will be involved.

The official theme is the celebration of peace and international justice, but the real content will be the demonstration of the People’s Liberation Army’s ability to fight high-tech wars in new strategic domains: cyberspace, outer space, electronic and hypersonic warfare. According to leaked information from Chinese dress rehearsals and official sources, more than 100 models of weapon systems, all domestically produced and already in operational service, will be on display.

Enter the Anti-Ship Missiles

Among the most anticipated weapons are the new YJ (Ying Ji, “Eagle Shot”) series anti-ship missiles, designated YJ-15, YJ-17, YJ-19, and YJ-20. These are systems designed for a specific mission: to neutralize large US naval units, particularly aircraft carriers, the heart of American supremacy in the Pacific. These carriers are part of China’s A2/AD (Anti-Access/Area Denial) strategy, i.e., the creation of “defensive bubbles” that can prevent or make it too risky for enemy fleets to access the South China Sea, the Taiwan Strait, and the Western Pacific.

China has developed a wide range of anti-ship missiles in recent decades, often starting with Soviet technologies, and then surpassing them with indigenous designs since the YJ-8 in the 1980s, derived from French Exocets. With the new series, China is aiming for a further qualitative leap, combining stealth, hypersonic speed, and artificial intelligence.

The exact specifications are top secret, but from general tests and expert analysis, some distinguishing features come into focus. First: speed of at least Mach 4-6, thus in the range of hypersonic missiles, with terminal maneuvering capability to evade anti-missile systems. Second: range of hundreds of kilometers. Third: combined flight profile, with the cruise phase at medium-high altitude, followed by grazing descent to the sea to reduce the possibility of interception. Fourth: multiple guidance with Beidou satellite, active radar, and IR sensors. Fifth: launch versatility, adaptable to aircraft, ships, submarines, and mobile land platforms, increasing possible saturation against enemy fleets. Put together, these weapons signal to the United States that aircraft carriers are no longer untouchable, and the Pacific is no longer an “American sea.”

Going Hypersonic

Also expected at the parade are new launchers capable of overcoming US missile defenses and providing Beijing with credible strategic deterrence. Rehearsal images show road-mobile ballistic missile systems, an ideal weapon to ensure so-called second strikes in the event of a nuclear conflict. China is developing and deploying a new generation of advanced mobile intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM), designed to ensure the survival of the nuclear deterrence force in the event of a preemptive strike.

Among the main models is the DF-31AG, with an estimated range of more than 11,000 kilometers (6,835 miles), capable of hitting any target in the continental United States. Next up is the DF-41. Considered the most powerful intercontinental missile in China, it has a range of over 12,000 to 15,000 kilometers (7,456 to 9,320 miles) and can carry up to 10 MIRV warheads, each capable of hitting a different target. It is mobile and can be launched from both silos and rail platforms. Beijing is also banking heavily on the JL-3, an ICBM that can be launched from nuclear submarines, currently being deployed on the new Type 096 class of submarines.

The Lethal Stealth Drone

According to several analysts, the September 3 parade will also feature the FH-97: China’s first unmanned aircraft declared combat-ready. Nicknamed “loyal wingman,” it is capable of operating in synergy with manned fighters, carrying out reconnaissance, attack, and electronic jamming missions. If confirmed, China would become the first country in the world to have a this type of stealth drone declared “combat ready,” ahead of even the United States and Australia, which are still experimenting with similar models such as Australia’s Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bat or the US Skyborg project.

Many details remain confidential, but from what has emerged, the FH-97 can carry guided bombs and air-to-air or air-to-surface missiles, and packs sensors for reconnaissance and electronic warfare. In addition, it can network with fighters such as the J-20 or J-16, acting as a force multiplier for offensive and defensive missions. Finally, it should have artificial intelligence systems to maneuver independently, follow preprogrammed routes, avoid threats, and cooperate with manned aircraft. Showing this aircraft in public means signaling to Washington, Tokyo, and Taipei that Beijing is capable of supporting next-generation air operations that are difficult to counter with current defense doctrines.

Block and Tackle

Alongside hypersonic missiles and ICBM, China’s developing weapons include a less conspicuous but potentially revolutionary arsenal: electronic warfare systems and directed-energy weapons. If missiles are the weapon of visible deterrence, electronic and directed energy weapons are silent tools that can blind enemy radar and communication systems, neutralize drones and missiles in flight, and protect Chinese forces from cyber- and space attacks.

China has invested heavily in the field, seeing it as decisive in winning “informatized” and “intelligentized” conflicts. China’s mobile land and naval systems can jam the frequencies used by airborne radars, cruise missiles, and satellites, while some People’s Army brigades combine cyberattacks and electronic jamming, simultaneously targeting enemy hardware and software. Direct-energy weapons, on the other hand, use concentrated beams of energy (lasers, microwaves, high-power electromagnetic waves) to strike targets without traditional projectiles.

Also on display will be the latest models of reconnaissance drones and combat drones, including unmanned underwater ones, expanding Chinese surveillance capabilities in disputed waters. The debut at the September 3 parade of these systems has strong symbolic value: Beijing wants to show that it has not only caught up with the West, but in some areas, aims to surpass it.
