Shiba Inu (SHIB) Deja Vu? Vitalik Buterin Dumps 2 Meme Coins in One Shot

by admin September 29, 2025

Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin has exited meme coins yet again, selling two different tokens in just a few hours, as per Onchain Lens. On-chain data shows the famous crypto developer offloaded 150 billion Puppies tokens for 28.58 ETH equivalent to about $114,000 and 1 billion ERC20 tokens for $13,900 in USDC.

The sums are small in the grand scheme of Ethereum, but the action is all too familiar. Back in 2021, Buterin got billions of Shiba Inu (SHIB) tokens from the project’s creators, then sent a big chunk of it to India’s relief fund and burned the rest.

That decision sent the SHIB community into a state of shock, wiped out part of its supply and, despite the sell-off pressure, became one of the biggest hype stories of that bull run, pushing SHIB deeper into the public eye and cementing its place in crypto history.

Will Shiba Inu coin story repeat itself?

It remains to be seen if this week’s sales will show the same pattern. Buterin doesn’t keep meme tokens in his wallets for long. ERC20 took a 70% hit after his transactions, and Puppies, which had been in the spotlight recently, faced extra scrutiny once the sales were recorded on the blockchain and spread across trading groups.

The upshot is always the same: Whenever Vitalik Buterin gets meme coins, he ends up selling them, and the market reacts straight away.

For traders, it’s just another reminder that tokens linked, even indirectly, to Ethereum’s creator don’t guarantee long-term holding, no matter how much short-term hype surrounds them.

Charlie Kirk Shot at Utah Valley University Event

by admin September 10, 2025

Charlie Kirk, the internet personality and cofounder of Turning Point USA, was shot on Wednesday afternoon at Utah Valley University (UVU), where he was holding an event. His condition is currently unknown.

UVU immediately went into lockdown, according to Deseret News. UVU police confirmed in an emergency bulletin that the shooting of a “visiting speaker” took place on campus. Police say that the suspect is in custody. The identity of the suspect is currently unconfirmed.

UVU police did not answer a call from WIRED. A TP USA spokesperson did not immediately respond to WIRED’s request for comment.

“We are closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” FBI director Kash Patel said in a statement on X. “Our thoughts are with Charlie, his loved ones, and everyone affected. Agents will be on the scene quickly and the FBI stands in full support of the ongoing response and investigation.”

Senator Mike Lee, of Utah, commented about the shooting in a post on X, saying that he’s “tracking the situation” at UVU and “praying for Charlie Kirk and the students there.” Vice President J.D. Vance likewise posted on X: “Saying a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a genuinely good guy and young father.

In a post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump said, “We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM.” The White House did not immediately respond to WIRED’s request for comment.

Videos of the shooting began to appear on social media on Wednesday afternoon, soon after reports of the shooting began to circulate.

Kirk’s stop in Utah was part of TP USA’s “American Comeback Tour,” where he staged his signature “prove me wrong” debates on campus. At Utah Valley University and Utah State University, the events sparked intense backlash: more than 6,000 students and faculty signed petitions urging Utah State administrators to cancel Kirk’s appearance later this month, arguing his presence conflicts with campus commitments to inclusivity. Critics described the tour as a “campus martyr” strategy designed to generate viral content whether through protests or cancellations.

Kirk, 31, cast the appearances as a defense of free speech and a chance to promote his brand of Christian nationalist conservatism.

Turning Point USA, which began in 2012 as a student group, has grown into a well-funded hub of right-wing activism. Along with its political advocacy arm, Turning Point Action, the organization has become a key player in the MAGA movement, channeling millions of dollars into “chase the vote” campaigns backed by election-denying candidates.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

Silicon Valley Tech Worker Fatally Shot After Allegedly Stabbing Roommate

by admin September 8, 2025

A Silicon Valley tech worker was fatally shot by police this week after allegedly stabbing a roommate.

Santa Clara police responded to a disturbance call that quickly escalated to a stabbing earlier this week. A police officer responding to the incident fatally shot the alleged attacker.

The four men in the apartment were all “high-tech workers,” though the suspect had been unemployed “for one and a half years already,” the house manager for the property claimed in an interview with local news KTVU. It’s not yet clear which Bay Area tech company the roommates worked for.

The incident took place in the early morning hours on Wednesday at the 1800 block of Eisenhower Drive in Santa Clara, California. The town is at the center of Silicon Valley, housing the headquarters of major technology companies like Nvidia, AMD, Intel, and ServiceNow.

The coroner is still working to locate and notify the next of kin of the suspect, so the name  was being withheld as of Friday, Santa Clara police department chief Corey Morgan said in a press briefing on Friday afternoon.

The incident was reportedly not the first time police had been dispatched to the residence. On Aug. 12, police were called to resolve a disturbance over an air conditioning unit at the household between the same two men, KTVU reported. The house manager allegedly started an eviction process for the suspect after the Aug. 12 incident, and proceedings had wrapped up last week.

What we know about the incident

Shortly after 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Santa Clara police officer Robert Allsup responded to a 911 call from a Santa Clara area apartment.

“As officers were responding to the location, they received information that the situation had escalated and the suspect was now stabbing the victim,” Morgan told press.

After kicking open the front door, the officer says he saw four people in the hallway, with the suspect straddling the victim, pinning the body down to the ground with a knife in his hand, according to body cam images shared with press at a briefing.

When the suspect raised the knife, the officer responded with four gunshots. The police say the suspect fell on the ground, and was later transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, Santa Clara police said.

The stabbing victim survived the attack, and was treated for multiple stab wounds to their hands, chest, lung, and abdomen. Based on witness statements, the police said, the suspect used two knives in the assaults.

The matter is still under investigation.

Meme Coin Gains Momentum as Safety Shot Commits $25M in Token Financing

by admin August 26, 2025

BONK, the Solana-based meme token, endured sharp price swings during the last 24 hours, reflecting both selling pressure and large accumulation. The token moved within an 8% range between $0.0000197 and $0.0000212, ultimately consolidating near $0.0000205.

The heaviest selling occurred during the Aug. 25 evening, when BONK fell about 5% from $0.0000208 to $0.0000197 on trading volume exceeding 1.8 trillion tokens, substantially above daily averages, according to CoinDesk Research’s technical analysis data model.

Buyers reentered at these levels, building technical support around $0.0000197 and driving prices back into a narrow consolidation band between $0.0000203 and $0.0000205.

Corporate participation helped reinforce market confidence. Safety Shot Inc., a Nasdaq-listed company, confirmed a $30 million financing arrangement on Aug. 25, with $25 million denominated in BONK tokens. The deal reflects rising interest in meme coins as part of broader corporate finance strategies, underscoring BONK’s role as a key Solana-based alternative to established meme assets.

BONK showed signs of resilience on Tuesday, edging from $0.0000203 to $0.0000204 (a modest 0.3% gain). Notably, between 11:49 and 11:56 UTC, trading activity accelerated, with more than 17.5 billion tokens exchanged, suggesting liquidity remains robust even during periods of consolidation.

This balance between institutional adoption and heightened volatility positions BONK as a closely watched meme token within the Solana ecosystem.

Technical Analysis

  • Range: $0.0000197–$0.0000212 (8% volatility).
  • Correction: 5% decline during the evening of Aug. 25.
  • Volume Spike: 1.81 trillion tokens exchanged during selloff.
  • Support Zone: Established near $0.0000197.
  • Consolidation: Prices held between $0.0000203–$0.0000205.
  • Momentum: 1% gain during rally supported by 17.5B tokens.
