Call Of Duty Still Has A ‘Shocking’ Amount Of Last Gen Players

by admin September 24, 2025

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to launch this November. And, surprisingly, a decade after the PS4 and Xbox One’s launch, BLOPS 7 is still arriving day one on the aging machines. According to the devs making the next entry in Activision’s blockbuster franchise, the old consoles don’t force them to hold anything back, and Call of Duty is still played by a “shocking” amount of people on those platforms.

In a new interview with Dexerto, Treyarch’s senior director of production Yale Miller and associate design director Lawrence Metten addressed fan concerns that developing Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 for the now 13-year-old PS4 and Xbox One was holding the game back and limiting what the studio could do on PC and current-gen hardware. According to them, that’s not the case at all.

“The way we’ve talked about it always is, you should never be thinking about old-gen for the features that you’re designing,”  Miller told the outlet.

Instead, the team builds the game for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and then makes it work on the older machines. This sometimes leads to features not making it onto PS4 and Xbox One, a disappointing decision for last-gen players, but one that the studio is willing to make.

“[Theater mode in Black Ops 6 was] something that we knew we wanted to do,” said Metten. “We can’t support it on old-gen. That’s not a reason not to do the feature. We’re gonna bite the bullet and disable it on old-gen.”

Why Call of Duty is still launching on PS4 in 2025

As to why Activision is still developing Call of Duty games for the decade-old machines, the answer is obvious but still surprising: In 2025, there are still a lot of people playing these games on older consoles. Miller didn’t share specific numbers, but told Dexerto there is a “shocking number of people” playing new Call of Duty games on PS4 and Xbox One, and this apparently helps with matchmaking, giving them more players to work with.

“It made sense for us to [bring Black Ops 7 to last gen], and we could,” said Miler. “There are straight-up, like, graphical features and things that you just won’t see, but we feel like that doesn’t necessarily break the experience. And, obviously, there’s performance and other things that are not gonna be as good, but that’s it. It’s just players.”

While that makes sense, I can’t help but feel like it might be time to move on, especially as EA’s upcoming Battlefield 6 is doing that and cutting PS4 and Xbox One loose. However, while both are military shooters, they offer very different experiences and demand different things from the platforms they are available on.

Still, if CoD is so scalable and flexible, I do wonder why the team isn’t, as far as we know, working on a Switch 2 port of Black Ops 7. Perhaps they also struggled to get dev kits ahead of Nintendo’s console launch earlier this year? Or maybe somewhere deep inside the massive entity that is Activision-owned studios, someone is tinkering with Black Ops 7 on Switch 2 right now. I wouldn’t bet on it, but maybe you like to gamble?

Sydney Sweeney reveals shocking truth about Christy fight scenes

by admin September 11, 2025

Sydney Sweeney stars as boxer Christy Martin in an inspiring new sports movie, and the actress has revealed the reason for her fight scenes looking so realistic.

Having made her name in teen drama Euphoria, Sydney Sweeney has tackled horror (Immaculate), rom-com (Anyone But You), thriller (The Voyeurs), and even popped up in a superhero movie (Madame Web).

More recently she’s been piling on muscle to play professional boxer Christy Martin, who became the first female fighter elected to the Boxing Hall of Fame.

The film is called Christy, and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it received largely positive reviews, with the fight scenes frequently singled out for praise. Which makes sense based on how they were filmed…

Sydney Sweeney’s punches are real in Christy

In most fight movies, actors pull their punches, stunt people are used, and camera trickery makes it look like a real boxing match is unfolding. But not so in Christy.

“Every single fight you see, we are actually punching each other,” Sweeney told Vanity Fair. “We are going full force. I always believed that you would not be able to make it feel real if it’s a stunt double or if it’s faking the hits.”

That meant a huge amount of preparation in advance, but director David Michôd said Sweeney was up for the challenge: “She wanted to do the work. She wanted to train, she wanted to fight, she wanted to transform herself, and we were going to need all of that.”

As a youngster, the actress trained in jujitsu, grappling, and kickboxing, though that background meant she had to unlearn some skills for the movie, with Sweeney revealing that “my stances and a lot of my technique is different than boxing. You square up differently, and of course you don’t get brought to the ground – everything’s on your feet.”

Sweeney also went through a physical transformation for the film, gaining over 30 pounds, and doing weights and boxing several hours a day for three months. “I felt very strong and powerful,” she said. “I loved it. Being able to lose myself to become a vessel for somebody else is my dream.”

Christy hits US screens on November 7, 2025, while you can head here for our list of the best sports movies ever.

Netflix has just dropped a shocking new movie you need to stream after Unknown Number for one simple reason

by admin September 9, 2025

Let’s face it: Unknown Number might just be one of the most memorable Netflix documentaries of all time. When Lauryn and her boyfriend Oliver started getting texts from anonymous numbers that quickly became explicitly threatening, they’d never expected the culprit to be Lauryn’s mom, Kendra. My jaw is still on the floor after the perfectly executed twist two-thirds of the way through the new movie.

Frankly, I’ve been looking for the same documentary-binging high ever since. I didn’t expect to get it so soon, but out of everything new on Netflix in September 2025, another new movie released today (September 8) just might do the trick. In fact, I was already seated purely after reading the synopsis.

Behold: Stolen: Heist of the Century. If you think we’re getting the same whodunnit in the form of Unknown Number’s reveal, you’d be mistaken – if anything, Netflix is now subverting the surprise of its mystery by not only withholding who did it, but how the heist was even pulled off in the first place.

Stolen: Heist of the Century is our next big Netflix documentary movie after Unknown Number

Let’s set the scene: it’s 2003 in Antwerp, Belgium. The target is the Antwerp World Diamond Centre, housing in the city’s so-called Diamond District with tons of well… you get the idea. Between February 15-16, 2003 a gang of thieves stole loose diamonds, gold, silver and other types of jewelry valued at more than $100 million, with the heist still considered one of “the greatest of the century” to this day.

In true Mission: Impossible style, here’s what our robbers had to get through. The vault that stored the precious gemstones and metals was located two floors below the main floor of the building, protected by multiple security mechanisms. These included a lock with 100 million possible combinations, infrared heat detectors, a seismic sensor, Doppler radar, and a magnetic field. The building itself had a private security force, with the district already heavily guarded and monitored.

Piece of cake, right? Well, although arrests were made in connection with the case, the stolen diamonds themselves have still never been recovered to this day. As Stolen: Heist of the Century explains, head gang honcho Leonardo Notarbartolo was arrested the Friday following the heist, because nearby garbage had connected him to the scene thanks to DNA found on a salami sandwich.

I’m not going to tell you exactly how our gang pulled off the heist – that’s literally the whole fun in watching the documentary – but what the team manages to do is nothing short of mind-blowing. It’s equally incredible that such a genius team could be so equally idiotic by leaving behind incriminating evidence.

Even so, Stolen: Heist of the Century is easily up there as one of the best Netflix documentaries for me, and I’ve seen just about everything in its back catalog.

‘The Wizard of Oz’ at the Sphere Has a Shocking 2-Second Cameo: David Zaslav

by admin August 29, 2025

The Sphere’s version of The Wizard of Oz has already drawn controversy over its use of AI. Now we know another unsettling element has been introduced into the Hollywood classic: a likeness of Warner Bros. Discovery CEO and president David Zaslav.

No, really: the exec, along with the Sphere’s executive chairman and CEO, James Dolan, will be superimposed on the faces of uncredited background characters in what are apparently blink-and-you’ll-miss-them appearances. The stunt is to celebrate the movie’s monumental screening series at the Sphere in Las Vegas.

Dolan announced the surprise AI cameos at a special walkthrough of the experience. “I won’t tell you where, it’s only for like two seconds,” he disclosed, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “[They] replaced the faces of two very short, two-second characters in the movie with mine and [David’s]. I challenge you to find it.”

Now whether they’ll depict Munchkins or flying monkeys (or some other characters entirely) is something you’ll have to discover for yourself if you plan on seeing the MGM classic (now owned by Warner Bros.) in Las Vegas. The Sphere used AI to augment The Wizard of Oz to fit its unconventionally sized and shaped screen, hoping it will attract tourists despite the discourse surrounding the tech.

“I think [with] the controversy around AI replacing humans through technology, we ended up employing more artists on this project than I think Hollywood has employed in previous years, just to continue this journey,” shared the Sphere’s visual effects specialist Ben Grossmann in defense of its use to showcase the film to audiences in a new way.

Let us know what you think of The Wizard of Oz: The Zaslav Cut in the comments.

One of the Most Shocking Scenes in ‘Weapons’ Is Now Online

by admin August 27, 2025

Zach Cregger’s Weapons is still crushing at the box office, but apparently, it’s time for a little boost. So, after months and months of keeping the character a secret, New Line has finally started uploading clips of Aunt Gladys, played by Amy Madigan. In fact, it actually posted one of her best and most revealing scenes in full.

We’re guessing most people who want to see Weapons probably already have, but just in case you still plan on checking it out, we’ll give a final spoiler warning.

The scene in question isn’t from the end of the movie, unfortunately. No, those are still only living in theaters (and probably via pirated clips on TikTok.) No, this is Gladys’ second scene, which also happens to be the one where we finally start to see the depth of her evil. It’s when she visits Marcus (Benedict Wong) and his husband just as they’re about to sit down for an afternoon of hot dogs and cookies. Gladys comes in, makes some very weird requests, and, well, now you can watch it again.

Unfortunately, the clip is located on X (ugh, we know) and is age-restricted so embedding won’t work. But if you click right here, you can log in and watch the scene the New Line social person cleverly calls “Do you have a bowl of water?” That request still creeps me out too. “A bowl of water.”

When you first meet Gladys, in the scene teased here, there’s obviously a lot of unease. We’ve seen her pop up a few times earlier in the movie, but never long enough to understand who or what she is. So, that first scene at the school is creepy but the second scene in the house is just completely terrifying. Fortunately, the clip cuts before things get really, really gross with all the headbutting, but it’s in this moment we know Gladys took those kids.

Weapons is one of our favorite movies of the year so definitely check it out if you haven’t seen it yet. And read more from our interviews and breakdowns at this link.

Avengers: Doomsday rumor reveals shocking ally for Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom

by admin August 25, 2025

Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom will make his MCU debut in Avengers: Doomsday, and he may enlist the help of a familiar sorcerer, according to a new rumor.

Once upon a time, every Marvel fan knew Thanos was coming and that he wanted to gather the Infinity Stones for his gauntlet, with the threat (and aftermath) of his universe-halving snap being the catalyst for Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

The same can’t be said for Doomsday and Secret Wars. All we know is that Doctor Doom will be involved, Downey will play him and his likeness to Tony Stark is part of the story, as well as the stars who were announced as part of the movie’s livestream earlier this year.

The assumption is that it’ll have something to do with the multiverse, with Doom trying to save (or avenge) his world from an incursion – which is where one hero could come in.

Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom could team up in Avengers: Doomsday

During an episode of The Hot Mic, insider and reporter Jeff Sneider said he’d “heard that Doctor Strange is with Doom… he’s on that side of things.”

This also comes after The Beyond Reporter claimed that not only will Strange work with Doom, but he’ll be considered a villain. Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus also reported that Strange will be tasked with fixing an incursion in Doomsday, “by any means necessary.”

“This would be a good time to remind everyone that the flow of time is different in the Dark Dimension since it is basically nonexistent. So, even though it’ll have been 3.5–4 years since Stephen Strange has been on Earth, imagine how much time would have passed in the Dark Dimension?” he added.

Marvel Studios

Remember, Strange was whisked away by Clea (the daughter of Dormammu, played by Charlize Theron) because his actions triggered an incursion – in layman’s terms, the impending collision of two Earths caused by multiversal shenanigans.

That’s important context, considering another Cosmic Circus report said Doom sees “the incursions that are happening as a danger to the multiverse, and he wants to put a stop to it using a young Franklin Richards.”

“He sees himself as the hero in this story and will do whatever it takes to make sure he stays on top,” it added.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released on December 18, 2026. In the meantime, read more about who Tramell Tillman should play in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and check out our ranking of the MCU movies.
