Trackmania fans have witnessed history after YouTuber Yosh used artificial intelligence to finally topple the game’s most iconic world record.
For two years, the legendary time of 23.79 seconds on A01, Trackmania’s very first level, stood unbroken. The run, set by player Eddie, became a benchmark for the entire community, considered untouchable due to its razor-tight precision and the gap between first and second place.
Yosh, a longtime Trackmania creator, trained a custom AI on A01 through reinforcement learning. After more than 3,000 attempts, it matched the developer-set target time. By the 400-hour mark, the bot was consistently within hundredths of Eddie’s world record. Millions of inputs later, the AI pieced together a run that was 0.04 seconds faster than any human had achieved.

Trackmania’s unbeatable record broken by AI
In his latest video, Yosh showcased how his AI driver ran the course from scratch, using code to incentivize the driver to complete the course faster. On its own, over the course of thousands of simulations, the AI was finally able to produce a 23.75 run, eclipsing Eddie’s human record.

But four hundredths of a second wasn’t enough for Yosh. He began layering in tools. First came an “auto-drift” helper that snapped to the optimal drift angle the AI couldn’t hit at 20 inputs per second, pushing the bot to 23.72 runs and beating the human mark about half the time.

Then he segmented the training, letting the AI grind each section independently to curate only the best micro-splits, and even leaned into TAS-style brute force to probe oddities the AI couldn’t intuit. That hunt surfaced a wild twist: a tiny misaligned road seam on A01 that can pop the car just enough to start the downhill jump earlier and carry massive speed. That discovery allowed Yosh’s AI to push beyond the human limit entirely, clocking in at 23.64, a time even tool-assisted runs had struggled to match.
And while the AI’s discovery shook the scene, Eddie’s so-called “unbeatable” record did fall naturally: in August 2025, player Rollin set a 23.78 on A01, shaving a single hundredth off and reclaiming the benchmark for human skill.
