13,620,000,000,000 Shiba Inu Open Interest Sets Bulls on Fire

by admin August 23, 2025

Shiba Inu (SHIB) has registered a 10.15% surge in open interest in the last 24 hours, setting bulls on fire. The double-digit rise in the open interest metric suggests that some SHIB holders are speculating on a possible price rally in the coming days.

SHIB trading volume soars as whales accumulate

As per CoinGlass data, a total of $13.62 trillion SHIB worth $189.04 million has been committed to the futures derivatives market.

Notably, open interest represents the total number of outstanding derivatives contracts for SHIB. With the current surge, investors of the dog-themed meme coin are looking forward to price gains.

As of this writing, Shiba Inu is changing hands at $0.00001321, which represents a 9.68% increase in the last 24 hours. The meme coin had earlier traded as high as $0.00001348 before a slight correction amid market volatility.

The Shiba Inu community is very bullish at the moment as trading volume soared by a staggering 207.08% to $459.13 million. Shiba Inu’s ability to clear the $0.00001320 resistance level is seen as a very significant move for the asset.

Ecosystem whales have also been busy in a move that suggests strategic buying. There has been a massive accumulation of billions of SHIB as whales withdrew the asset from Coinbase.

Despite death cross, SHIB bulls dominate open interest

The current increase in open interest is coming just days after a death cross was confirmed on SHIB. Despite the weakening market signal, which suggested a possible increase in selling pressure, the meme coin has been able to overcome the bearish moment.

Investors have defied the signals to support the asset. Interestingly, the majority of these traders are on the Gate exchange. These accounted for 48% of the total open interest, committing 7 trillion SHIB worth $92.56 million.

Bitget, OKX and MEXC traders also contributed significantly with figures at 2.58 trillion SHIB, 1.34 trillion SHIB and 1.34 trillion SHIB, respectively.

All Jurassic World 4K Steelbooks And Box Sets You Can Buy Now

by admin August 21, 2025

Jurassic World fans can soon add the latest film in the franchise to their home media collection. Jurassic World Rebirth stomps onto 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on September 9. Preorders for Rebirth’s 4K Steelbook Edition are in stock for $38 at Amazon and Walmart. If you skip the collectible case, you can get Rebirth on 4K Blu-ray for only $30 at Walmart. The standard Blu-ray edition is $25, and the DVD is $20. All four editions are top sellers on Amazon, with the 4K Steelbook and standard Blu-ray proving to be the most popular picks so far.

Launching alongside Rebirth is the new Jurassic World 7-Movie Collection on 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD. At the moment, Walmart has the best prices for the box set. The 4K Blu-ray edition is $100, while the 1080p Blu-ray edition is $70. Notably, both of these sets include digital copies that can be added to your Movies Anywhere library. The 7-Movie DVD Collection is only $50, but you won’t get digital editions.

Jurassic World Rebirth Limited Edition Steelbook

Fans interested in a Jurassic World box set should also check out the recently released Jurassic Park Trilogy 4K Steelbook and Jurassic World Trilogy 4K Steelbook. These have sold out multiple times since launching in June, but you can get each trilogy with a collectible steelbook case for $60. Featuring exclusive, display-worthy artwork and the movies on 4K, 1080p, and digital, the trilogy box sets are definitely worth considering before they’re gone for good.

You can read more about Jurassic World Rebirth’s upcoming 4K Blu-ray edition as well as the limited-edition trilogies, and franchise box sets below.

4K Steelbook for $38 | Blu-ray for $25

Jurassic World Rebirth’s Limited Edition Steelbook features screenshots from the film on the front and back covers as well as on both sides when you open the case. Admittedly, this isn’t a very inspired choice, as many steelbooks feature original artwork on at least the outside of the case. The cover still looks cool, and the $38 price is lower than many steelbook editions of blockbuster films.

The 4K disc is presented in native 4K (2160p) with HDR–Dolby Vision and HDR10 are supported–and enhanced audio via Dolby Atmos or Dolby TrueHD 7.1 surround sound. This edition also comes with a 1080p Blu-ray disc and digital copy.

The 4K and 1080p Blu-ray editions of Rebirth come with over an hour of special features, including a making-of documentary and alternate opening.

$60 (was $65)

Jurassic Park Trilogy’s Limited Edition Steelbook comes with 4K Blu-ray and digital editions of first three feature films in the franchise:

  • Jurassic Park (1993)
  • The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)
  • Jurassic Park 3 (2001)

The front and back covers have illustrated collages featuring dinosaurs and locations from the movies. On the inside of the case, there’s a collage of screenshots from the trilogy. The franchise logo is imprinted below the artwork on the front cover.

The classic ’90s action films starring Jeff Goldblum look awesome in 4K UHD resolution (2160p) with High Dynamic Range (HDR10 and Dolby Vision supported). On the audio side, the trilogy is enhanced by Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 surround sound.

Along with the three films, the collection comes with some cool bonus content, including the six-part documentary series chronicling the process of adapting Jurassic Park into a movie.

Jurassic Park Trilogy Special Features

  • Return to Jurassic Park: A six-part documentary series on the making of the trilogy
  • Archival featurettes
  • Behind-the-scenes footage
  • Audio commentary
  • Deleted scenes
  • Theatrical trailers

You can check out a full list of special features at the bottom of this story.

$60 (was $65)

The Jurassic World Trilogy’s Limited Edition Steelbook box set comes with the three films in the sequel series starring Chris Pratt:

  • Jurassic World (2015)
  • Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)
  • Jurassic World Dominion (2022)

Just like Jurassic Park’s Steelbook Edition, you’ll find illustrated artwork on the front/back covers, a screenshot collage on both interior covers, and the iconic logo imprinted near the bottom of the front cover.

Like the Jurassic Park Trilogy, each movie in this set is rendered in 4K resolution (2160p) and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 visual enhancements as well as Dolby Atmos and and TrueHD 7.1 surround sound for immersive audio effects. The collection comes with all of the bonus content found on previous 4K editions of each film, which amounts to several hours of featurettes, cast and crew interviews, and more.

Jurassic World Trilogy Special Features

  • In-depth featurettes
  • Interviews with the cast and crew
  • Behind-the-scenes footage
  • Deleted scenes

The full list of special features can be found at the bottom of this story.

Jurassic World 7-Film Collection / Jurassic World Ultimate Collection

The 7-Movie Blu-ray Collection offers pretty solid value compared to the popular Jurassic World 6-Film Ultimate Collection. The latter is $30 less, but it doesn’t include Rebirth’s $25 Blu-ray edition or digital copies of the other six films. The Ultimate Collection and Rebirth combined are $65, five bucks less than the 7-Film Collection. Spending the extra five bucks to get digital copies of all of the movies is probably worth it for most.

The value of the 7-Movie 4K Collection is more debatable. Jurassic World’s 4K Blu-ray Ultimate Collection is on sale for $45 at Amazon. Add the price of Rebirth’s 4K standard edition (from Walmart), and you’re looking at $75 total. Once again, only the 7-Movie Collection has digital copies, so you’d have to decide whether those are worth the extra $25 to you. Of course, you could also spend $120 to get the two trilogies on 4K Blu-ray and digital with complementary steelbook cases. This is probably the ideal option for anyone who buys Rebirth’s Steelbook Edition.

Jurassic Park Trilogy Steelbook Edition | Jurassic World Trilogy Steelbook Edition

Jurassic Park and Jurassic World 4K Blu-rays

If you already own several movies in the franchise and merely need to fill in a few gaps, most of the Jurassic Park and World 4K Blu-ray editions are less than $20 each.

While you’re working your way through the roughly 12 hours of Jurassic Park/World movies (not including bonus content), you could keep your hands busy by building one of the recently released Jurassic World Lego sets. Earlier this year, Lego launched a massive 3,145-piece Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus Rex building set. Originally exclusive to the Lego Store, the display model is now available at Amazon and other major retailers for $250. There are plenty of other smaller-scale Jurassic World Lego sets as well, including discounted playsets and builds themed around the upcoming movie.

The first two films in the Jurassic Park Trilogy are based on the sci-fi thrillers by Michael Crichton. If you’ve never read the books, you can grab paperback copies of Jurassic Park and The Lost World for $9 each at Amazon.

Here’s the full list of special features for both of the new Limited Edition Steelbook box sets.

Senate Banking Committee Sets Out Plan For Crypto Market Rules

by admin June 25, 2025

In brief

  • Senate Republicans on the Banking Committee have outlined principles for market structure legislation.
  • The principles emphasise clarity around regulation, promoting innovation and consumer protection.
  • It comes as Democrats attempt to prevent the Trump family’s extensive crypto investments.

The Senate Banking Committee on Tuesday released a new set of principles aimed at guiding the development of comprehensive crypto market legislation.

“As Congress considers a regulatory framework for digital assets, our top priority must be providing legal clarity and certainty without stifling innovation,” Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) said. “These principles strike the right balance by protecting consumers, promoting innovation, and clearly defining the roles of regulators.”

Those principles, spearheaded by Senate Banking Chairman Tim Scott (R-SC), Subcommittee on Digital Assets Chair Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), and Senators Tillis and Bill Hagerty (R-TN), emphasize clearly defining the legal status of digital assets, delineating regulatory jurisdiction, and modernizing oversight to support responsible innovation.

They also call for narrowly tailored anti-money laundering measures and a commitment from regulators to embrace technological development.

Senator Lummis noted in a hearing after the guidelines were announced that they are designed to make discussions on digital asset market structure more productive than those around stablecoins.

“America desperately needs digital asset legislation that promotes responsible innovation and protects consumers,” she said in a statement. “While the European Union and Singapore have established clear regulations, the U.S. continues to sit on the sidelines.”

The release of these principles came ahead of a subcommittee hearing the same day featuring testimony from Coinbase, Multicoin Capital, and others on bipartisan legislative proposals.

It also follows recent momentum behind the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which would remove the SEC’s oversight of the crypto industry in favor of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. That passed two House committees on June 11 and is now expected to face a full vote.

Meanwhile, crypto-related policymaking continues across the federal government. On Monday, U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency director Bill Pulte said the agency would examine how crypto holdings might factor into mortgage applications.

Pulte, a crypto supporter since 2019 and recent Trump appointee, disclosed significant digital asset holdings earlier this year.

The promotion of crypto in government by those with significant crypto holdings, however, has raised alarms, particularly when it comes to the president himself.

On Monday, Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) introduced the COIN Act, which would bar the president and immediate family members from profiting from digital assets while in office.

Schiff’s bill comes days after bipartisan passage of the Trump-backed GENIUS Act, which critics argue could enable such profits under a regulatory veneer. In any case, Schiff voted in favor of the GENIUS Act.

Elon Musk Sets Meme Coin Communities on Fire with PEPE Tweet but Here’s Catch

by admin June 20, 2025

  • Musk’s PEPE tweet excites community but here’s catch
  • Musk’s gloomy AI prediction

Controversial tech mogul Elon Musk published a tweet which re-established his rapport with the meme coin community, reminding of the old days when he did not own Twitter and actively posted about DOGE.

He also shared a major AI prediction, showing both his positive and negative expectations from this nascent technology.

Musk’s PEPE tweet excites community but here’s catch

Musk published a famous Internet meme character Pepe the Frog, which inspired the creation of the same-name meme cryptocurrency in April 2023. In the image he posted, Pepe looks somewhat sad and is lighting a cigarette he is holding between his lips. Musk’s tweet immediately gained the attention of the crypto community.

Fans of various meme coins began posting their coins’ mascots in return. In particular, PEPE and BabyDoge. A WIFaccount also posted a PEPE, as well as that of the Kraken exchange. Someone requested an explanation of this tweet from Grok and, according to the AI chatbot, the timing of tweet suggested that this was Musk reaction to the explosion of the SpaceX’s Starship 36 on the test site at Starbase near Boca Chica Beach in Texas just before the expected take-off. Videos of that explosion were spread around X earlier this week.

The rocket exploded just ahead of a routine fire test before the tenth flight test. Afterwards, company’s engineers reported that the Starship experiences a “major anomaly,” they are now trying to figure out what exactly went wrong. None of the company’s personnel who were nearby were injured.

Musk’s gloomy AI prediction

During his recent interview at the YC’s AI Startup School, Musk stated that unless AI destroys humanity, it is likely to boost the economy 1,000x from what the civilization has now. That would be Digital Super Intelligence, Musk stated, which will be smarter than any human at anything.

ELON MUSK: If things don’t go wrong like A.I. doesn’t kill us all and itself, then ultimately, we will have an economy that is 1000s of times, maybe millions of times bigger than the economy today. pic.twitter.com/D0x059wma9

— DogeDesigner (@cb_doge) June 20, 2025

And the drastic economy boost will be possible, according to him, if humanity reaches a Kardashev Type II civilization, meaning it will be of such a massive scale that it will draw energy for its needs from an entire star.

In another tweet, Musk commented on the recent massive password leak and the data that the majority of people on the Internet use simple four-digit passwords (or those related to the dates of their birth), stating: “AI will not have a hard time outfoxing us.”

All Four Discontinued Donkey Kong Lego Sets Restocked At Amazon

by admin June 19, 2025

With Donkey Kong Bananza shaping up to be the biggest and most ambitious game in franchise history, there’s bound to be increased interest in official merch in the coming weeks. Over the past few years, some of the coolest Nintendo collectibles have been produced by Lego. The building set manufacturer created four Donkey Kong-themed sets back in 2023 for its Lego Super Mario line. Earlier this year, Donkey Kong and his DK Jumbo ride became the fifth as part of the Lego Mario Kart launch lineup. Unfortunately, the original four sets were discontinued by Lego late last year. Here’s the good news, though: Amazon sometimes carries and restocks retired Lego sets months after every other retailer removes them from shelves. Fortunately, that has happened with Donkey Kong Lego sets, including the hard-to-find Donkey Kong Tree House.

Donkey Kong’s Tree House (555 pieces)

All five Donkey Kong Lego sets, including the four that are discontinued and sold out at other retailers, are currently in stock at Amazon. The most notable restock is Lego Donkey Kong’s Tree House, which had been sold out for months–we presumed it was never coming back. And considering that it’s the “main” Donkey Kong Lego set, it’s bound to be the most popular of the bunch when Bananza players start searching for DK Lego sets. Two of the four retired sets are discounted, with Dixie Kong’s Jungle Jam listed for 30% off and Diddy Kong’s Mine Cart Ride for 20% off. Rambi the Rhino isn’t on sale, but it only costs $11.

You can check the list of all five Donkey Kong Lego sets below. We’ve also included a link to a custom Amazon hub where you’ll find the Lego Super Mario, Luigi, and Peach Starter Sets for up to $10 off. Those interactive figures are compatible with all of the DK Lego sets. And if you want to pair the discounted Donkey Kong DK Jumbo set with other racers, you can get deals on several of his competitors at Amazon, too.

Kong family Lego figures

Take a closer look at each Donkey Kong Lego set below.

$60 | Retired November 2024

Donkey Kong’s Tree House Expansion Set lets you build the iconic treehouse that DK calls home. The 555-piece set isn’t a “level” with enemies like some other Lego Super Mario sets, though Cranky Kong will give Lego Mario, Luigi, or Peach coins. Any of the three interactive Lego Super Mario figures can attach to Donkey Kong’s back. Cranky Kong is also included in this set, along with a hammock, conga drums, palm trees, a Bowser flag, and a Warp Pipe.

Of the four Donkey Kong Lego sets that released in August 2023, Donkey Kong’s Tree House has been the hardest to find since Lego retired it. As mentioned, it had been sold out for most of 2025; Amazon restocked it within the past couple of weeks. It’s not available at other retailers.

$29.49 (was $35)

Donkey Kong & DK Jumbo is the only one of the bunch that’s not retired, and that’s because it’s part of the Lego Mario Kart line that launched at the beginning of 2025. The 387-piece build features a barrel-inspired kart that can fling red and green shells at a target that’s topped with a banana peel. Perhaps most importantly, it comes with a buildable Donkey Kong figure that’s very similar to the one included with the Tree House.

Donkey Kong & DK Jumbo is on sale for $29.49 at Amazon, which matches its all-time low price.

Rather fittingly, this is the largest figure/kart combo in the lineup of playsets–not including the Mario & Standard Kart display model for adults that launched in May on the Lego Store and releases July 1 at major retailers.

$90 (was $110) | Retired November 2024

Mine cart levels have always been some of the most challenging and dynamic course types in the Donkey Kong Country series, so this was always a fitting choice for a DK Lego set.

Diddy Kong’s Mine Cart Ride nods back to Mole Miner Max, a boss fight from Donkey Kong Country Returns. It’s the largest Donkey Kong-themed set, clocking in at 1,157 pieces. The kit comes with buildable figures of Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, Mole Miner, and Chomps.

In terms of the play aspect here, the mine cart will interact with Mario, Luigi, or Peach figures. Your job is fix the track and beat the Mole Miner at the end. In addition to the mine cart and rail system, you can build Funky Kong’s airplane, which is complete with the balloons he sells in the game and a barrel.

$18.89 (was $27) | Retired October 2024

Dixie Kong’s Jungle Jam is a stage for live music. Your Lego Mario figure can accompany Dixie, who is shredding on an electric guitar. Squawks is behind the mic, and we’d like to imagine Squawks is parroting a track sung by young Pauline from Donkey Kong Bananza.

Dixie Kong’s Jungle Jam is 174 pieces and is up for grabs for $18.89 at Amazon. This set is sold out at all other retailers.

$11 | Retired November 2024

Rambi the Rhino is a 106-piece set that features the beloved longtime character and a few stackable rocks to break–as long as DK doesn’t smash through them first. You can place the Donkey Kong and other Kong Lego figures on his back, but like most Lego Super Mario sets, Rambi was designed with Mario/Luigi/Peach figures in mind.

When you tap one of the figures against Rambi’s back, the figure’s speaker will play Donkey Kong Country music. Stomping and charging sound effects are made while riding around.

Rambi the Rhino is available for $11 at Amazon. This set is sold out at all other retailers.

If you haven’t preordered the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, check out our Donkey Kong Bananza preorder guide, which includes details about the physical edition as well as the new Donkey Kong & Pauline Amiibo.

And if you want to catch up on some of Donkey Kong’s past adventures before diving into Bananza, there are nice deals right now on DK’s fun side-scrolling platformers for Nintendo Switch. Earlier this year, Nintendo released a remaster of Donkey Kong Country Returns for Switch, and it’s available for $20 off at Woot or $15 off at Amazon. You can also save on the enhanced version of the Wii U adventure Tropical Freeze, as it’s $42 at Woot and $45 at Walmart.

And if you like puzzle-platformers, the remake of Mario vs. Donkey Kong, which sees DK return to his roots as a villain, is on sale for $40 (was $50).

Donkey Kong Plushies, Toys, and More

We’ve put together a list of additional budget-friendly Donkey Kong merch below, including plushies, action figures, old Amiibo, Hot Wheels, officially licensed sweatshirts, and more.

Surprise Roblox game reportedly sets biggest player count record in history

by admin June 17, 2025

Roblox game Grow a Garden has just reached another staggering milestone in terms of concurrent player count, now beating even Fortnite.

The past few weeks have been absolutely massive for a Roblox game called Grow a Garden. It’s been shattering records left and right, with a previous update managing to bring the player count to a whopping 11,694,315 concurrent users.

It didn’t stop there, though. Following the new Working Bees event update, the idle game is back with yet another milestone, as on June 15, 2025, it hit over 16,000,000 concurrent players as seen from reports all over social media.

Article continues after ad

With that in mind, the game didn’t just break its own record, but now clears some of the biggest live service games ever and even several top titles on Steam’s most-played charts.

Roblox’s Grow a Garden concurrent player count has reportedly surpassed Fortnite’s peak

If the previous record wasn’t impressive enough, this time, the game has gone beyond and reportedly surpassed Fortnite’s peak player count. For the record, Epic’s Battle Royale title peaked at 14,343,880 six months ago thanks to Chapter 2 Remix’s live event.

“Grow a Garden” is now the single biggest video game… in the world. 🌍

Today, this single @Roblox experience reached 16,411,769 concurrent users, surpassing the previous world record set by @Fortnite at 14,343,880 in November 2024. pic.twitter.com/9MryxBafE3

— Bloxy News (@Bloxy_News) June 14, 2025

In comparison with other games, according to data from SteamDB, PUBG still holds the highest peak concurrent player count at 3,257,248, which isn’t even half of what Grow a Garden has reportedly achieved so far.

Additionally, even if you combine this number from PUBG with the rest of the games in the top five according to the highest concurrent player records on Steam alone, the total is still less than Grow a Garden’s newest peak.

Of course, it’s worth taking the intel with a grain of salt for now though. It’s near-impossible to independently verify user data across platforms. But if genuine, it’s a herculean feat.

The premise of Grow a Garden is exactly as its title suggests. Players start growing their own garden from an empty plot by buying seeds, planting and harvesting crops, and even getting exotic plants. As an idle game, the players’ crops will continue to grow even when they’re away.

Despite the game already managing to attract a large number of players, however, it has also been accused of using bots. That said, Roblox has previously pushed back against this claim.

Speaking to Game File, a spokesperson said: “Grow a Garden’s global success is fueled by exceptional user retention, vibrant social interactions — with friends driving play — and strong Robux engagement. “Our preliminary analysis confirms genuine popularity, not artificial inflation, validating the game’s authentic community-driven growth.”

Brazil Sets Flat 17.5% Tax on Crypto Profits, Ending Exemption for Smaller Investors

by admin June 14, 2025

Brazil has scrapped a long-standing tax exemption on cryptocurrency gains, with a new provisional measure (MP 1303), imposing a 17.5% tax on all crypto profits for individuals.

Previously, individuals selling up to R$35,000 (around $6,300) worth of crypto per month were exempt from taxation. Before the change, gains above that were taxed progressively, reaching as high as 22.5% for volumes over $5.4 million.

The new rule replaces this system with a flat tax, meaning smaller investors will face higher tax burdens while large holders may see their bills shrink, local news outlet Portal do Bitcoin reports.

The tax will apply regardless of where the assets are held, including in overseas exchanges or self-custodial wallets. Losses can be offset, but only within a rolling five-quarter window, a rule that will become stricter starting in 2026.

The government says the overhaul is aimed at boosting tax revenue after walking back a proposed hike to the IOF financial transaction tax, which had drawn industry and congressional criticism.

Alongside crypto, the new measure affects fixed-income investments and online betting, with the former now incurring a fixed 5% tax on earnings and the latter seeing taxes on operator revenues rise from 12% to 18%.

1,850,000,000 XRP Open Interest Sets Price on Rare Breakout Path

by admin June 10, 2025

XRP has seen a bullish twist in the last 24 hours as investors bet heavily on the asset, causing a spike in open interest. According to CoinGlass data, XRP spiked by 5.11%, resulting in traders committing $4.26 billion to XRP’s futures contract.

XRP’s on-chain activity spikes amid consolidation

Notably, open interest signals the volume of futures contracts investors have opened on XRP as they anticipate a bullish rally. Traders committed a total of 1.85 billion XRP during this period.

The development has positively impacted XRP, as the price climbed from a low of $2.25 to a peak of $2.33. This marks a shift for the coin, which plunged to $2.09 within the last seven days, testing the $2 support level.

The current increase in open interest suggests investors are optimistic about a possible breakout amid ecosystem developments. Recently, XRP displayed resurgence as on-chain activity surged, with market volume soaring by 800 million in daily transactions.

As of press time, XRP is changing hands at $2.28, representing a 0.93% increase after a slight correction. Despite the bullish sentiment in the ecosystem, the asset has lost the critical $2.30 support level again.

Regardless, market participants remain optimistic that XRP could rally and retest the $3 level again. The technical indicators suggest the asset could break out soon after this protracted consolidation.

BlackRock speculation fuels ETF optimism

On the broader crypto market, speculations of BlackRock joining the spot XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF) race remain high. If BlackRock signals interest in XRP, the asset manager could shake up the space.

Although BlackRock previously dismissed any interest in the XRP ETF, a reversal of interest could increase the chances of approval from the U.S. regulator. At the moment, Polymarket bettors remain positive that the Paul Atkins-led Securities and Exchange Commission could give the nod before the end of 2025.

Phil Spencer Sets Up Massive 2026 For Xbox With Halo Remaster

What might have been the biggest news of the Xbox summer showcase didn’t come in the form of a surprise trailer but rather straight from the mouth of Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer. While there was no footage to debut, the executive quietly let slip that a new Forza is coming next year as well as the “return of a classic” that’s been with Xbox from the beginning. It’s hard to imagine that’s anything other than the previously reported Halo: Combat Evolved remaster.

Halo’s Joseph Morgan On Playing Nuanced Characters And The Flaws of Season 1

“As we think about bringing a new generation of players to these iconic franchises I’m excited to share that players will get to celebrate 25 years of Xbox with a new Fable, the next Forza, Gears of War: E-Day, and the return of a classic that’s been with us since the beginning,” Spencer said near the end of the livestream.

That tiny, innocuous-sounding snippet was full of news. The Gears of War prequel didn’t previously have a release window and the newest Forza hadn’t previously been mentioned at all (will it be Forza Horizon 6 or something else?) But the detail most fans will be glomming onto is the hint at the original Halo’s return.

That game, previously reported by The Verge’s Tom Warren to be a remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved in Unreal Engine 5, will presumably follow in the footsteps of the recent remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which Microsoft shadow-dropped last month. If that ends up being the case, the Halo remaster will likely be the original game running with overhauled graphics and some tweaked systems, though unlike Oblivion, there is already an HD Master Chief Collection players can use to access Bungie’s hit 2001 shooter. We’ll have to wait to learn more to see if Combat Evolved gets a more fundamental reworking to make it stand out on modern platforms.

Whatever it ends up being, it’s almost a guaranteed thing that a Halo remaster will be coming to PlayStation 5 as well, potentially serving as the perfect starting point to bring the iconic Xbox exclusive to Sony’s console for the first time ever.

And while that multiplatform push has left some fans wondering why they bothered buying an Xbox console at all this generation, Spencer’s last-minute sound-bite suggests next year will be full of nostalgia for those who have been with the platform for decades. All of the core, previously exclusive franchises will be there, and playable on Microsoft’s new Xbox-branded ROG Ally PC gaming handheld to boot.

Coco Gauff tops Aryna Sabalenka in 3 sets to win French Open

by admin June 7, 2025

A jubilant Coco Gauff said she had “won the one she wanted” after she picked up her first French Open title at Roland Garros on Saturday, storming back to beat world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-4 in the most dramatic of Grand Slam finals.

The 21-year-old showed enormous resilience in the face of big hitting by Sabalenka, and a gusting wind, as she won her second Grand Slam title and became the first American to win the French Open since Serena Williams in 2015.

“I didn’t think honestly that I could do it,” Gauff said on court, after accepting the trophy from four-time champion Justine Henin. “But I’d like to quote American rap star Tyler the Creator, who said: ‘If I ever told you that I had a doubt inside me, I must be lying. I think I was lying to myself, because I could do it.

“I also felt like this is one I really wanted, because I do think this was one of the tournaments that, when I was younger, that I felt I had the best shot of winning. I just felt like if I went through my career and didn’t get at least one of these, I would feel regrets and stuff.

“Today, playing Aryna, I was just, like, I’ve just got to go for it and try my best to get through the match. That’s what I did.”

Gauff was congratulated on social media by many famous names, including former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama, and said she hoped she had given people at home something to cheer about.

“There’s a lot going on in our country right now with things,” she said. “But just to be able to be a representation of that and a representation of, I guess people that look like me in America who maybe don’t feel as supported during this time period, and so just being that reflection of hope and light for those people.”

Sabalenka had her chances and more than played her part, storming to an early 4-1 40-0 lead and taking the first set on the tiebreak despite failing to serve it out twice. But the Belarusian was guilty of too many unforced errors — 70 in all — as Gauff fought back and then held her nerve under intense pressure in the final set.

As Sabalenka’s final backhand flew agonizingly wide, Gauff fell on her back, almost unable to take in what she had achieved. “Oh my god, oh my god,” she said, before embracing the world No. 1 and then, after shaking hands with the umpire and high-fiving film director Spike Lee, sat courtside.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Gauff said: “It feels great. It was tough. I don’t think either of us were playing great but I knew as soon as I stepped on the court, when I felt that it was windy, it was going to be one of those matches, so I wanted to give myself the best chance on every point.”

It’s a second straight Grand Slam final defeat for Sabalenka, who was in tears as she addressed the crowd, apologizing for what she said was “terrible tennis.”

“Conditions were terrible, and she simply was better in these conditions than me,” Sabalenka told a media conference. “I think it was the worst final I ever played.”

This was the first Slam final between the world’s top two players since Caroline Wozniacki beat Simona Halep to win the Australian Open in 2018 and the first at Roland Garros since Serena Williams beat Maria Sharapova in 2013.

Sabalenka went into the match as the favorite, having beaten Gauff in the Madrid Open final last month. But with the roof open and a strong wind gusting around Court Philippe Chatrier, clean ballstriking was almost impossible, the ball dying on the clay one minute and flashing through the court the next.

Gauff held serve to open the final, but Sabalenka was quickly into her stride, holding to love and then breaking to love in the next game, helped by a number of deftly played drop shots. Gauff had shown enormous mental resilience throughout her run to the final, coping with 30 double faults along the way, and she fought back from 0-40 on her serve at 1-3, only to be broken anyway as Sabalenka marched to a 4-1 lead.

At 40-0 on serve in the next game, Sabalenka double-faulted and the tide seemed to turn. Gauff won the next four points, to get one of the breaks back, before holding to love in the next game.

Suddenly, Sabalenka was the one making errors, and Gauff took full advantage, breaking in a long eighth game to level at 4-4, much to the approval of Lee and Dustin Hoffman watching in the stands.

A forehand error from Gauff gave Sabalenka the chance to serve for the set, but she double-faulted on set point and then missed a backhand on the next. After a 13-minute game, Gauff finally broke back as Sabalenka sent a wild forehand over the baseline.

Sabalenka had another chance to serve for the set after breaking for 6-5, but Gauff broke back again, this time with a brilliant backhand pass off a Sabalenka smash. Gauff led the tiebreak 3-0 and 5-3, but Sabalenka put together a string of brilliant points to take it 7-5 and move ahead.

Gauff had battled back from the loss of the first set in beating Madison Keys in the quarterfinals and yet again, she showed her mental courage as she broke in the opening game of the second set.

A second break, to love, gave her a 4-1 lead that she never looked like relinquishing as Sabalenka began to let the wind and the situation get to her, blasting errors all over the place. Though Sabalenka did break back for 2-4, Gauff broke again in the next game and served out to level the match.

Using her drop shot well and moving Sabalenka out of her comfort zone, Gauff broke in the third game of the decider and extended her lead to 3-1. In the fifth game, she had two chances for a second break but couldn’t take them and Sabalenka held, before breaking back to level at 3-3.

But yet again, Gauff showed courage under fire, breaking to love to lead 4-3, holding crucially for 5-3 and then, after Sabalenka held serve, saving a break point and finally clinching victory on her second match point when Sabalenka fired a backhand wide.

An emotional Sabalenka apologized to her team on court and though she vowed to bounce back, she couldn’t get over how badly she felt she played.

“I think it got more windy [after 4-1]. Also, I think I was overemotional. I think today I didn’t really handle myself quite well mentally, I would say. So basically, that’s it.

“I was just making unforced errors. I have to check the statistics. I think she won the match not because she played incredible; just because I made all of those mistakes from, if you look from the outside, kind of like from easy balls.”
