28 Days Later creator set to write & direct Elden Ring movie

by admin May 23, 2025

After weeks of rumors, it’s now been confirmed that Alex Garland will tackle an Elden Ring adaptation, bringing From Software’s most popular game to the big screen.

While earlier FromSoft titles like Dark Souls and Bloodborne certainly did well, Elden Ring was a smash hit beyond compare. It quickly became one of the best-selling games ever, with millions of players venturing through the Lands Between.

It’s proven so popular, in fact, we’re now getting a feature film out of it. Having always been onboard with the idea of an adaptation, the Japanese game devs have now given the green light for A24 to turn Elden Ring into a movie.

Not only that, but acclaimed writer and director Alex Garland is attached. While known best for the likes of 28 Days Later, Ex Machina, and most recently, Civil War and Warfare, Garland has long been a vocal supporter of the gaming industry. Now, he’s set to adapt one of the biggest games in recent history.

Elden Ring movie officially moving ahead

After rumors began to circulate earlier in the year, A24 confirmed its plans to make an Elden Ring movie on May 22, 2025. Garland is set to both write and direct the live-action film, translating the source material originally created by FromSoft, with help from Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin.

Martin created the foundation for which the story of Elden Ring was built upon, laying the groundwork with history of the realm, its characters, and more. Seemingly eager to do anything but finish his series of novels, Martin himself is also attached in a producing role for the Elden Ring film.

Given it’s still early days, there’s no quite telling just how the live-action film may look. Elden Ring, much like all other Soulslikes, features otherworldly monsters and larger-than-life bosses while leaving much of its lore to loose descriptions for players to piece together.

There’s also no telling if it will be a direct adaptation of the game’s storyline, or whether Garland will pen a new story in the mega-popular universe. Only time will tell and we’ll be sure to keep you posted as further details emerge.

Avengers: Doomsday set leaker receives first formal warning from Marvel

by admin May 22, 2025

The Marvel fan who snuck onto the set of Avengers: Doomsday and shared a now-viral video has now received a formal warning from the MCU, according to their latest update.

It’s no surprise that details surrounding Avengers: Doomsday are being kept tightly under wraps, although we do know the upcoming MCU movie will bring together every superhero but the kitchen sink for an Endgame-style battle.

What’s more, Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the franchise, only as Doctor Doom instead of Tony Stark. However, with filming taking place in London, UK, as we speak, one fan managed to break onto the set.

Operating under the handle @theyneversawitcomingg, they shared a video of the set on TikTok, which quickly went viral. When it was removed, they reuploaded it to Instagram, and now Marvel has reportedly stepped in.

Avengers: Doomsday leaker receives “first formal threat”

On Wednesday (May 21), the leaker added an Instagram Story to their account, stating, “Received my first ‘formal threat’. I might be cooked.” Marvel has yet to publicly comment on the situation, although it wouldn’t be surprising if the studio had taken action.

In the bio, they also wrote, “Video got removed, posting on Instagram.” It’s received hundreds of comments, with fellow fans warning them to be cautious.

“If it’s real, be careful, they can sue you and you know it,” said one, while another wrote, “Bro is getting sued to pieces.”

A third added, “Yeah Kevin fiege is definitely going to come find you,” and a fourth chimed in, “Yeah you’re cooked buddy.”

As well as the video, which showed a bar situated in the Marvel location of Madripoor, the user shared what appeared to be a blueprint of the home of Annie Reynolds – the mother of Thunderbolts’ Bob Reynolds. However, this appears to have been removed.

Although many of the comments are tongue-in-cheek, leaking footage from a Marvel set can carry serious legal consequences. Disney and Marvel Studios are notoriously protective of their intellectual property, and leaking unreleased content could land a person in court.

Depending on how the footage was obtained, the individual could face criminal trespassing charges, copyright infringement claims, or even civil suits over the disclosure of confidential material.

This wouldn’t be the first time Marvel has pursued leakers. In 2023, the studio filed a DMCA subpoena against Reddit to uncover the identity of users who leaked dialogue from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ahead of release.

In a similar incident, The Expendables 3 was leaked online weeks before its debut, prompting Lionsgate to sue the anonymous uploaders for damages, claiming it impacted the movie’s box office performance. Whether Marvel or Disney will escalate this new case beyond a warning remains to be seen.

Avengers: Doomsday lands in cinemas on May 1, 2026. Until then, read everything we know about Avengers: Secret Wars, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and check out our ranking of every MCU movie.

THQ Nordic studio that was set to be closed in 2023 somehow escaped the Embracer death spiral and is now working on a new RPG

by admin May 20, 2025

This is a bit of a weird one: Two years after announcing its planned closure in the aftermath of the Embracer Group’s $2 billion implosion, Campfire Cabal revealed today that it “was never shut down” at all, and that it is in fact working on a new addition to the Expeditions series of historical RPGs.

“If you follow the insider news, you are aware that it’s been a rough couple of years in the game industry,” the studio wrote. “Investment dried up, studios shut down, countless developers lost their jobs, and games were cancelled left and right.”

That’s putting it mildly. A quick catch-up on how we got here: Campfire Cabal was founded in September 2022 under Embracer’s THQ Nordic label to “focus on high-quality, narrative-driven RPGs.” But less than a year later a massive investment deal fell through at the last minute, and Embracer’s wings were suddenly and brutally clipped: Hundreds of people were laid off (although none of the executives responsible for the mess, of course) and numerous studios closed, including—apparently—Campfire Cabal.

You may like

“It is no secret that Embracer Group has recently entered restructuring,” creative director Jonas Wæver wrote in August 2023. “As part of this restructuring process, THQ Nordic has been told to close Campfire Cabal. This decision was not related to the work we’ve been doing at the studio but was made from a purely financial standpoint.”

Wæver said at the time that studio management and THQ Nordic “have not given up on Campfire Cabal,” and that “we are still pursuing our options for finding a good resolution to this situation,” although to my reading that came off almost entirely as forced optimism, especially given that his announcement was literally entitled “Studio Closure.” And yet, here we are.

“Though we did have to say goodbye to many of our colleagues, the studio survived and a compact team continued the project we had started in 2022. At the end of March of 2025, we received the green light to scale back up and transition into full production,” Campfire Cabal wrote today.

“We are extremely grateful that there were people within the group who fought to keep us alive through the turmoil, and that we can now emerge on the other side with renewed vigour.”

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Campfire Cabal also finally confirmed today that it’s working on a new Expeditions RPG, something previously assumed but never officially announced, and that it was responsible for a surprise Expeditions: Rome patch that dropped in November 2024. Details weren’t shared but, like previous games in the series, “it’s set in a new period of our history and in a new part of the world.”

Private Equity Giant Apollo Global Private Credit Fund Set for Tokenization on Solana (SOL)

by admin May 20, 2025

A tokenized version of a major private credit fund managed by Apollo will arrive on Solana’s

decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem, bringing traditional financial instruments closer to the fast-growing network.

The launch, orchestrated by lending platform Kamino Finance with support from tokenization specialist Securitize and DeFi risk advisor Steakhouse Financial, aims to make the Apollo’s Diversified Credit Securitize Fund (ACRED) token the first of its kind to be available for on-chain borrowing and leverage on Solana. The token’s debut is pending on completing an audit, Kamino said.

The ACRED token, launched in January, offers exposure to Apollo’s private credit strategies and is issued under Securitize’s regulated token framework. ACRED will also be the first token on Solana using Securitize’s sToken standard, with more assets expected to follow later, Securitize said.

The product underscores a growing appetite in crypto for real-world asset (RWA) tokenization. RWAs—traditional instruments such as funds, bonds or real estate—are being brought onto blockchain rails to reduce friction in investing, improve access and transparency, and allow for programmable use in DeFi protocols. In practice, this means investors can use RWAs as collateral to borrow against, yield farming, or plug into automated investment strategies.

“The value of tokenization really comes into play when these assets are integrated into DeFi, and new products and strategies are developed around them,” says Reid Simon, head of DeFi and credit solutions at Securitize.

Despite Solana’s fast-growing DeFi market, RWAs are yet to take off on the chain. According to RWA.xyz, Solana hosts $330 million worth of RWAs, small compared to the network’s nearly $9 billion DeFi market size. It’s also trailing rival layer-1 network Ethereum’s $7 billion real-world asset market. But with large players in tokenization stepping in, backers of the launch see this as a tipping point.

“Solana has experienced explosive consumer growth in recent years, but below the surface we are seeing enormous interest from institutions and asset issuers,” said Marius Ciubotariu, co-founder at Kamino, “Finally, the industry is in a position to not only bring these assets on-chain, but to provide genuine use-cases.”

Through Kamino’s Multiply product, users will be able to leverage ACRED for yield strategies—automatically looping the asset to increase exposure while managing collateral and borrow levels through Solana-native smart contracts. That’s a similar offering to what Gauntlet introduced on Polygon in late April.

“Building on off-chain credit assets in a composable way is the sort of long-term investment we believe can help catalyze further growth of DeFi in Solana,” said adcv, co-founder of Steakhouse Financial.

Solana Meme Coin Ponke Set to Release Collectibles, Apparel Via JCorp Spinout

by admin May 19, 2025

In brief

  • Ponke has partnered with 223, a spinout of JCorp, to produce adult-focused products and showcase concept designs at the Las Vegas Licensing Expo.

  • The team is exploring the opportunity to create blind box collectibles, high-end toys, and products in the cannabis industry.

  • New products will include NFC chips that will potentially offer token rewards, additional physical merchandise, or an NFT proof of authenticity.

Top 25 Solana meme coin Ponke has announced a partnership with 223, a spinout venture of licensed accessories firm JCorp, to create a range of adult-focused collectibles and apparel.

Official products have yet to be confirmed, but the Ponke team told Decrypt they’re exploring the possibility of producing blind box collectibles, novelty and high-end toys, as well as other products aimed at countercultures like the cannabis industry.

As part of this partnership, Ponke will present a dozen concept products at this week’s Las Vegas Licensing Expo, alongside some of JCorp’s global IPs including Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel. The Ponke team claims to already be in discussions with a number of big name brands for future collaborative co-branded products, with the Licensing Expo representing a major opportunity to expand its network.

New products created as part of the 223 partnership will include NFC tags, small wireless chips that interact with mobile phones, which will enable Ponke to add a number of different extra functionalities to their products.

By scanning an NFC chip the Ponke team is considering adding an NFT proof of authenticity, granting token rewards, or offering digital keys for loot boxes on partner site Looty.fi, which may reward people with merch, tokens, and more.

“We view Ponke as an onboarding vehicle to the larger crypto landscape,” a Ponke representative told Decrypt. “We’re not necessarily going to always be extremely crypto forward in the memes, video content, or products we create. But, we want to welcome people into the club of digital ownership through token rewards and token gated experiences.”

Ponke already offers a range of clothes and a few accessories, like stickers and playing cards, on its official website. However, it is a fairly limited range and the products are quite pricey with a t-shirt costing $110.

The 223 partnership will see Ponke’s offerings expand, 223 will also look to “overhaul” Ponke’s website, simplify the existing product line and distribution channels, as well as bring Ponke products into physical retailers, although no store is confirmed as of yet.

“This partnership marks a turning point for Ponke—it transforms our brand from a viral internet phenomenon into a scalable consumer business.” A Ponke representative explained that, “With 223’s licensing infrastructure, retail relationships, and global reach, we now have the tools to drive real, sustained revenue across physical products, phygital collectibles, and new markets.”

The Ponke team claims that revenue generated will be put into scaling “the brand, the community, and the experiences that make Ponke special.” There are currently no plans to offer Ponke token holders discounts or exclusive opportunities to buy products, but the representative confirmed that it is possible to implement in the future.

223 is a spinout venture of JCorp, a major supplier of apparel, accessories, and merchandise for some of the world’s biggest IPs including Sega, Atari, and Coca Cola. The company’s founder Cole Gurman explained that the spinout leverages some of JCorp’s infrastructure to aid with design, manufacturing, and distribution—hence why the partnership will result in Ponke being presented at the Licensing Expo alongside JCorp IPs.

Ponke isn’t the first project to branch out into physical products through licensing deals. In 2023, Ethereum NFT project Pudgy Penguins teamed up with global toy brand PMI Kid’s World, in a partnership that led to over $10 million worth of Pudgy Toys being sold in less than a year across stores including Walmart.

But while Pudgy Penguins focused on a kid-friendly audience, a Ponke representative stressed that its new venture will be much more adult-focused.

Rather than producing a line of fluffy toys, the meme coin is ideally looking to create a range of “high-end” collector items akin to the Kaws art figure sets and explore products that cater to crypto-adjacent counter-cultures, with weed certainly being one of those.

The partnership “streamlines the path from concept to creation, allowing us to design and deliver merchandise in a matter of weeks,” a Ponke representative told Decrypt, adding that in the coming months, “we’ll bring both physical and digital drops to life with the intention of enriching the Ponke brand and ecosystem.”
