Highly anticipated new look Football Manager 26 has release date confirmed for 4th November on PC, PS5, Xbox Series consoles, and Game Pass

Sega and Sports Interactive, developer of the Football Manager series, have announced that the next and highly anticipated version of the game, Football Manager 26, will release on 4th November.

The initial roll-out of the game will be on PC/Mac (full-fat version), alongside Football Manager 26 Console for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. On 4th December Football Manager 26 Touch will release digitally for Nintendo Switch. All these versions of the game are built on the Unity Engine for the first time and offer save game compatibility with Football Manager 2024 and Football Manager 2023.

A mobile version of FM26 will be released exclusively for Netflix subscribers on the same date. This version will have compatibility with saves from FM24 Mobile careers only, and hasn’t made the switch to the Unity Engine.

“Setting Sports Interactive up for the next 20 years and beyond was an enormous undertaking but I couldn’t be prouder of the efforts of the whole team over the past two years” said Sports Interactive Studio Director Miles Jacobson.

Football Manager 26 and Football Manager Console (Xbox) will also launch day one in Game Pass.

Wayward is the new traumatic Netflix series you won’t be able to switch off, and I’ve lived to tell the tale

Wayward is the title you need to keep your eyes on most of all when looking at the line-up of everything new on Netflix in September 2025. Brought to us by Feel Good creator and comic Mae Martin, they’ve even bagged Toni Collette for her most explosive horror role since Ari Aster’s Hereditary in 2022.

But this is just scratching the surface of why Wayward is so good. The new Netflix series tells the story of the small town of Tall Pines, Vermont, which is home to a school of delinquent teens that get shipped off to study under the watchful eye of Evelyn Wade (Collette). Leila (Alyvia Alyn Lind) and Abbie (Sydney Topliffe) are two teens caught up in the school’s mysteries, alongside cop Alex (Martin) and wife Laura (Sarah Gadon), who return to Laura’s home town to settle down before the birth of their new baby.

Their two points of view converge over the course of the eight-episode run, giving us a multi-dimensional look at what it means to be a brainwashed youth incarcerated against your will. The town’s decisions (and I won’t spoil what these are) aim to rebuild Tall Pines from the ground up, but instead break down and fracture every part of its infrastructure. Not that this seems to matter, though as Evelyn’s got her metaphorical hooks into almost everyone around her.

Between Alex, Abbie and Leila, it’s up to them to get to the bottom of what’s actually going on in Tall Pines. As a result, we’re taken on a journey that resembles something between Twin Peaks and Stranger Things, and boy, is the outcome satisfying.

Watch On

Viewers should have known Wayward would be an instant addition to their watchlist the minute it was clear the series was coming from Mae Martin. Feel Good is still regarded as one of the greatest comedy-dramas to come out of the last decade, and not just by me. Even though veering into sci-fi supernatural territory isn’t an expected direction for Martin, it almost doesn’t matter.

Why? Good TV comes from getting the basics right: we’re talking structure, characters, setting, as well as peaks and pits to hold the audiences attention. It’s Martin’s craft that’s always elevated anything they’ve been a part of, even though their character Alex could be seen as another extension of their own personality. But we’re rooting for Alex every step of the way, and that paves the way for some effortless LGBTQIA+ representation.

Instead of overtly stating that Martin’s character is a trans man, the ensemble use he/him pronouns without hesitation, and when they fumble it feels authentic, rather than clumsily wedging inclusion in to tick a diversity box. It’s incredibly refreshing and makes us buy into Alex’s personal experiences on a much deeper level. If you’re looking for someone more shouty about their sexuality, Leila is your girl, with her blossoming bisexuality proudly worn as only a naive teenager can.

Then there’s Toni Collette. As one of the most talented actors that seems to be continuously unappreciated (especially by the Academy Awards), I hope viewers will tune in merely to see her shine (though I already know they will). She raises the game of everything and everyone around her when she signs onto the project, and there’s no doubt that Wayward is what it is because of her. It’s Evelyn’s world and we’re just living in it, making even the most skin-crawling of scenes enjoyable.

Stick with Wayward after episode 1 – I promise the payoff is worth it

For the most part, Wayward is well structured, holds its intrigue and has enough mystery wrapped in suspense to sustain us for the rest of the year. I’m a biased fan of anything to do with sketchy communes, strange towns and schools for dysfunctional children, but its subject matter is incredibly compelling even for the uninitiated. I should have felt as though I’d seen this play out 1000 times over (and better), but I came away from Wayward with a fresh perspective.

That said, there are a few minor downsides. With such a strange ensemble cast of characters in Tall Pines, not all of them get their backstories explained outright, particularly those relating to Laura’s past. Laura’s own journey has an ironic symbiosis with Evelyn’s and it would have been helpful to see more of how she actually functioned in her alma mater.

Looking back, episode 1 was the biggest stumbling block, and that’s not helpful when it’s the make-or-break point of a viewer deciding if they’ll stick or split to something else in Netflix’s expansive back catalog. It’s worth point out that all events that occur in Wayward are happening in 2003 rather than being split across different points in time, with it initially unclear how Abbie and Leila’s story will cross paths with Alex and Laura’s. It gets there pretty quickly after in episode 2, but the first 40 minutes require a bit of patience and push-through.

But these are small prices to pay for an ultimately satisfying and well-rounded eight-parter. Touching on themes of identity, motherhood, loss, community and trust, anybody who loves unpicking the crux of a story will be fed well-timed mouthfuls at every turn. There’s an interesting feeling of pride that comes with working out the subtext of something, and that’s a uniquely enjoyable experience in Wayward. Tall Pines has a lot of its own lore, both directly through the phases of the school, and hidden in plain sight among its residents.

If you want my advice: invest your time, trust nobody, and hope to God that you don’t get selected for The Leap.

Apple Watch Series 11 vs. Apple Watch Series 10: Should you upgrade?

Apple’s September event put the spotlight on iPhones, but the Apple Watch Series 11 quietly picked up some big quality-of-life changes. The new watch looks the same as the Series 10, but there are meaningful upgrades: 24-hour battery life (up from 18 hours), 5G connectivity on cellular models and tougher Ion-X glass on aluminum versions.

The Series 11 also debuts a new health feature, hypertension notifications, which will alert you if your data shows consistent signs of high blood pressure. Importantly, Apple confirmed that this feature will also roll out to older watches, including the Series 10, Series 9 and Ultra 2 via watchOS 26.

The Apple Watch Series 11 starts at $399 and keeps the same 42mm and 46mm case sizes as its predecessor. It runs watchOS 26, uses the same S10 chip and supports the full health suite with ECG, blood oxygen monitoring, temperature sensing, sleep apnea alerts and sleep scoring.

As usual, the older your Apple Watch — especially Series 8 and earlier — the more tangible improvements and benefits you’ll see from jumping to the Series 11. But if you already have a Series 10, is it worth upgrading? For most people, the answer depends on how much you value endurance and connectivity. Let’s take a closer look at what’s new and what’s the same when it comes to the new Apple Watch Series 11 and last year’s Series 10.

Design and display

At first glance, these watches are nearly identical. Both use Apple’s familiar slim cases in aluminum or titanium, and feature the same Retina LTPO OLED display with always-on functionality and up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness. Physically, they are virtually indistinguishable. If you walked into an Apple Store and mixed them up on the table, you’d probably need to flip them over and check the spec sheet to tell which was which.

The change is under the surface, as the Series 11 aluminum models gain Ion-X glass with a ceramic coating that Apple says is twice as scratch-resistant as the Series 10. It’s not indestructible, but if you’re the type who regularly introduces your watch to door frames, it might save you a few scuffs.

Performance and connectivity

Performance remains steady between the two generations. Both use the S10 chip introduced in 2024, which means apps launch quickly and the overall experience should feel fluid. The one major change is in connectivity. The Series 11’s cellular models now support 5G, while the Series 10 remains limited to LTE. That won’t matter if you always keep your iPhone nearby, but if you’re the kind of person who likes to head out for a run or grab a coffee without a phone in your pocket, 5G gives you more breathing room.

Health and fitness features

Health and fitness tracking is robust on both models. ECG, blood oxygen, temperature sensing, sleep apnea alerts and sleep scoring are all supported on both the Series 10 and Series 11.

Hypertension notifications are debuting with the Series 11, but Apple has confirmed they will also be available on the Series 10 through a software update. So you don’t need to rush to upgrade if you’re only interested in blood pressure alerts — Apple’s giving your existing watch a boost, too.

Battery and charging

Battery life is where the Series 11 has the most practical differences. After years of quoting the same 18-hour figure, Apple now promises up to 24 hours of use on a single charge. It’s still not a full weekend away without a charger, but for the first time an Apple Watch can comfortably last through a full day and night without begging for the puck. Fast charging is still supported across both models, so even the Series 10 can be topped up quickly, but the Series 11 gives you more breathing room in everyday use.

Software experience

Both watches run watchOS 26 (Series 10 devices will get that in a software update), which introduces the redesigned Smart Stack, new workout modes and updated health dashboards. Apple has not tied any major new software features exclusively to the Series 11 apart from those that rely on its tougher glass or 5G hardware. In other words, the interface will feel the same whether you’re on the shiny new model or last year’s.

Price and availability

The Series 11 starts at $399, which is the same starting price the Series 10 had when it first launched. Apple typically phases out old flagship models once the latest has launched, but in the near future, you may be able to find a discounted Series 10 while retailers get rid of their stock. Both support the same case sizes and band compatibility, so existing accessories carry over. So if you’ve got a drawer full of straps, you don’t need to worry — they’ll still snap right on.

Should you upgrade?

If you’re wondering if now’s the time to step up to an Apple Watch Series 11, the decision will come down to how much you value endurance and connectivity. The Series 11 is the clear winner if you want 24-hour battery life, 5G support and tougher glass. Those changes may not sound dramatic at first, but they alter how you use the watch from day to night, especially if you rely on cellular data or wear it during workouts and sleep.

If you already have a Series 10, you’ll get the same health experience, the same software and the same performance. With hypertension notifications also arriving on Series 10 (and even the Series 9), the gap between them narrows even further.

The Apple Watch Series 11 doesn’t reinvent the formula, but its upgrades matter. The bump to 24 hours of battery life will make it more of an all-day and all-night companion, 5G makes it more reliable away from your phone and tougher glass adds peace of mind. Think of it this way: if you’re after durability and freedom from the charger, Series 11 is a safe bet. If you’d rather save money and still close your rings every day, stick with the Series 10 or grab one while there’s still discounted stock floating around on the internet.

Far Cry series will push multiplayer “more predominantly” going forwards, according to Ubisoft boss

The future of the Far Cry series will see multiplayer bits pushed “more predominantly”, according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. The exec said this thing on stage at a conference in Saudi Arabia last month (thanks, Game File), around the same time he announced the Assassin’s Creed Mirage DLC the company have partnered with the Saudi government on.

Asked about the future of the series that brought us that one scene where the pirate guy talks about the definition of insanity before kicking you into a big hole, Guillemot said that the publishers’ goal “on Far Cry [is] really to bring the multiplayer aspects more predominantly pushed, so that it can also be played for a long time by players.”

Yves, believe me, you can play a single player game for a very long time. His comments come a couple of years on from reports claiming that Ubisoft were working on both the next mainline entry in the series, Far Cry 7, and a multiplayer-only spin-off. Kotaku’s report at that point alleged Far Cry 7 will see the series move on from the Dunia engine, in use since Far Cry 2. The muliplayer game was claimed by Insider Gaming to be an extraction shooter set in the Alaskan wilderness.

While Far Cry’s always been more of a single-player romp of explosions and bullets for me, though the last couple of entries have obviously featured plenty of co-op in addition to traditional online multiplayer. I can’t recall the matches and modes themselves being anything exceptional, if still fun. However, the map editors they came with were brilliant if, like me, you were a 15-year-old who liked building houses and hideouts, but reckoned getting really into Minecraft would be the final nail in your secondary school cool factor coffin.

Then again, maybe I’m not the person to ask given I’ve still not given Far Cry 6 a go, despite having played every other entry since 2. I just keep forgetting 6 exists, then remembering, reading reviews, and concluding that it’s probably not worth it until the next sale, by which point I’ve forgotten again. Far Cries 2 and 3 were the shooter’s peak in my book, at their best when you were setting half of Africa on fire just to kill three guys or blowing an outpost into the sea. My dad, meanwhile, swears by the original and caveperson spin-off Primal.

I’d interrupt his latest Horizon: Zero Dawn playthrough to ask if he’d care about a multiplayer-only Far Cry, but I think I know what the answer’d be.

New Novel In The Da Vinci Code Series Gets 40% Launch Discount

The sixth novel in the best-selling Robert Langdon series by Dan Brown has arrived. The Secret of Secrets was published by Penguin Random House imprint Doubleday on September 9. Fans of the thriller series can grab the hardcover edition of The Secret of Secrets for only $22.80, which is a 40% discount from the novel’s $38 MSRP. Netflix is already working on a TV series based on The Secret of Secrets.

Though officially known as the Robert Langdon series, many refer to it by the name of the protagonist’s second adventure: The Da Vinci Code. Released in 2003, The Da Vinci Code achieved a level of popularity we might never see again in the world of thriller novels. By 2009, more than 80 million copies of The Da Vinci Code had been sold. It’s one of the best-selling books of all time, and you can add to that total by picking up The Da Vinci Code: Special Illustrated Edition for only $15 (was $40) at Amazon.

Fans waited eight years for The Secret of Secrets, which is the longest gap between Robert Langdon novels in series history. The new novel also happens to be the longest Langdon thriller yet at 688 pages.

In addition to hardcover, The Secret of Secrets is available in large print paperback for $40, Kindle ebook for $16, and as an audiobook via Audible. Earlier this year, Netflix announced a TV series based on The Secret of Secrets.

Prior to The Secret of Secrets, the longest novel in the series was Angels & Demons, Langdon’s first adventure, at 572 pages. Three of the Langdon novels are under 500 pages, including The Da Vinci Code, so The Secret of Secrets is quite the doorstopper in comparison.

On a visit to Prague to attend the lecture of his girlfriend and noetic scientist Katherine Solomon, Robert Langdon gets entangled in a dangerous conspiracy of world-altering proportions. When someone is murdered and Katherine disappears–along with a manuscript that “contains startling discoveries about the nature of human consciousness”–Langdon must use his expertise in symbology to find Katherine and unravel the mystery and unmask a shadowy organization.

The Secret of Secrets is said to fuse ancient mythology with technology out of a sci-fi novel.

Like all of Brown’s Da Vinci Code novels, The Secret of Secrets draws from history, but don’t expect it to adhere to the truth. Brown has received criticism for using historical inaccuracies, particularly when it comes to religion, as plot devices. To be fair, these books star a professor of symbology, which is a job that doesn’t exist. Symbology is indeed the study of symbols, but it’s not a formalized field like it’s depicted in Brown’s books. The series is popular because Brown writes fast-paced, high-concept stories that often use true historical events as a foundation before asking the question: What if everything we believe to be true is wrong?

These books are supposed to be fun, not realistic. After all, one of the main plot drivers in The Da Vinci Code is a hidden message on the Mona Lisa. Langdon’s field of study naturally introduces grand conspiracies that readers (and viewers) are captivated by.

The Da Vinci Code / Angels & Demons

If you need to catch up on the Robert Langdon series before diving into his latest high-stakes adventure, the first five books are available for fairly cheap in paperback and hardcover. The series started in 2000 with Angels & Demons, though many readers wound up reading this one after The Da Vinci Code. The third novel, The Lost Symbol, hit bookstores in 2009. Brown followed it up with Inferno in 2013 and Origin in 2017. The first four novels are also available as Special Illustrated Edition hardcovers. The Da Vinci Code Special Illustrated Edition is up for grabs for only $15, just a couple bucks more than traditional hardcover and paperback versions. The Special Illustrated Edition has over 160 full-color illustrations.

Outside of The Da Vinci Code series, Brown has published two standalone novels for adults: Digital Fortress and Deception Point. Released in 1998 as Brown’s debut novel, Digital Fortress is a techno-thriller revolving around government surveillance. Deception Point, published in 2001, is a mystery-thriller about discovering proof of alien life against the backdrop of an important presidential election.

Robert Langdon movie adaptations starring Tom Hanks

Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of The Secret of Secrets means that five of the six novels in the series will have screen adaptations. Tom Hanks starred in popular film adaptations of The Da Vinci Code (2006), Angels & Demons (2009), and Inferno (2016). In 2021, an adaptation of The Lost Symbol premiered on Peacock; the series ran for 10 episodes but was canceled after Season 1. The only Robert Langdon novel without an adaptation is Origin.

If you want to check out the movies and Peacock series, all four are available on Blu-ray. The Robert Langdon 3-Movie Set is only $18.47 (was $31). Alternatively, you can get each movie on 4K for $16-$17 each. The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons received 4K restorations in 2016 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the movie adaptation as well as the theatrical release of Inferno, the final appearance for Hanks as Langdon. The Lost Symbol: Complete Series is $35 on Blu-ray and $25.84 on DVD.

Hands-on with all the new Apple Watches: Series 11, Ultra 3, and SE 3

Following Apple’s “Awe dropping” event today, we’ve been able to try out all the new Apple Watch models announced today including the Series 11, the Ultra 3, and the refreshes SE 3.

The entry-level Apple Watch SE was last updated in 2022 with the second-generation model, but the new SE 3, which starts at $249 for a 40 millimeter model, has gained some features from older Apple Watch models released since the SE 2’s debut, as well as the new Ultra 3 and Series 11 announced today. It will support both faster 5G cellular speeds and now charge twice as fast, with battery life getting a boost to up to 18 hours. It will also feature Apple’s new more scratch resistant Ion-X glass, an always-on display for the first time, sleep apnea detection, and the ability to use its speaker for playing music and podcasts – not just phone calls.

In person, the SE 3 feels surprisingly similar to the Series 11. In fact, at first I thought the SE 3 I was trying on was the Series 11. The only thing that visually set them apart for me was the profile and the colors. That’s huge for the SE 3, given the $250 price point. I’ll have to see how they feel in testing, but it truly doesn’t feel like you’re giving up much.

The Apple Watch Series 11 is also getting the 5G cellular upgrade as well as the sleep score, notifications of potential high blood pressure, a battery life bump to up to 24 hours, and the stronger glass. Its design isn’t that much different than the Series 10 but will be available in slightly larger 42mm and 46mm sizes and, according to Apple, will be the thinnest Apple Watch yet.

The high-blood-pressure demos weren’t available just yet, but we did get to see demos of the satellite SOS feature. It looks neat, but a crowded hands-on space isn’t the best place to get a sense of how 5G or satellite SOS will play out. I did get a look at the new Sleep Score screens, which are just about what you would expect.

The Apple Watch Ultra 3, which starts at $799, has a larger screen than the Ultra 2 but with smaller bezels so the actual size of the ultra-durable wearable remains the same. It’s also gaining 5G cellular capabilities with the addition of satellite connectivity, a boost to up to 42 hours of battery life, new health features including a sleep score and notifications when the signs of high blood pressure are detected, and the stronger Ion-X glass.

The Ultra 3 didn’t look all that different in person (though I appreciated the new minty Ocean strap). That said, I dug the new watchfaces in person. You can see a slight difference compared to the Ultra 2 in terms of display size, but it’s sight.

Apple isn’t charting an entirely new course with the design of its latest wearables, but there are still some notable upgrades and changes coming this year, and we’ve gone hands-on to let you know if they might be worth the upgrade.

Apple has largely stuck with the same iPhone design since the iPhone 11 debuted in 2019, but change is afoot in Cupertino. While the iPhone 17 may resemble iPhones of the past few years, there’s an entirely new camera layout for the iPhone 17 Pro models. Also, there’s a brand-new iPhone! The iPhone Air replaces what was supposed to be the iPhone 17 Plus. It, too, features a new look, and it’s the thinnest iPhone Apple has ever made.

The changes on the standard iPhone 17—typically Apple’s most popular iPhone model—aren’t as drastic. The company announced the new handsets alongside new Apple Watches and AirPods Pro at its annual September event at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park in Cupertino, California.

Preorders are available on Friday, with the iPhone 17 starting at $799, the iPhone Air costing $999, and the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max seeing an increase to $1,099 and $1,199. Here’s everything you need to know.

The iPhone Air

Apple’s iPhone Air is joining a slew of other phones that launched in 2025, which tout incredible thinness, like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and the Honor Magic V5. It’s 5.6 mm thick—an incredible feat, as that’s even thinner than Samsung’s handset, and a 2.65 mm drop from the iPhone 16 Pro.

That’s about seven credit cards stacked on top of each other. With it comes weight savings of 24 grams compared with the regular iPhone 16, and this combo can dramatically alter how the phone feels in your hand, especially considering it sports a large 6.5-inch screen. It’s also the only iPhone this year employing titanium to help with the durability of the frame. Speaking of which, Apple says this phone uses its new Ceramic Shield 2 material on the front for 3x better scratch resistance and 4x better drop protection. The back glass uses the original Ceramic Shield glass mixture.

There’s still a camera bump, except it’s now horizontal (ahem, like a certain Google phone), but as you’ll see, there are compromises: You only get one camera. It can simulate a 2X optical zoom like most iPhones today, but unlike Samsung’s thin phone, there’s no ultrawide camera, making it less versatile for shutterbugs.

This phone debuts Apple’s C1X modem, which allows for sub-6 5G but no millimeter wave 5G, and it also features the first-ever Apple N1 wireless networking chip. The N1 has Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread support, which can improve local smart home controls with supported devices.

It still maintains features from previous iPhones, like the Dynamic Island, which takes up less space on the front, the Action Button, and Camera Control. The selfie camera has been upgraded to 24 megapixels and supports Apple’s Center Stage technology, which keeps you in the frame. The selfie camera has a square sensor, so you can take selfies in landscape or portrait orientation without having to switch the phone into landscape orientation. Apple has also added the ability to shoot videos with both the front and rear cameras at the same time.

Apple says inside is a “high-density battery,” which likely alludes to silicon-carbon battery technology to achieve this level of thinness. The phone is powered by the new A19 Pro chip, features Apple’s ProMotion 120-Hz refresh rate for the display, and has magnetic Qi2 25W wireless charging. It’s available in black, white, light gold, and light blue.

You might think this super-thin iPhone will have limited battery life, but Apple is still claiming the same video playback numbers as the iPhone 16 Plus: 27 hours. This is likely why Apple is selling a new low-profile MagSafe power bank to help users keep their slim phone topped up. Let’s just see how often you need to use it.

The iPhone 17 Pro

The first thing you’ll notice about the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max is the redesigned camera array on the back, which Apple calls the “Camera Plateau.” Gone is the square-shaped camera module in favor of a long, horizontal camera bar. Maybe it means the iPhone finally won’t rock on a table. There’s also a slightly different color tone below, indicating the split between the new aluminum chassis and the glass.

The forged plateau creates extra space for components, like a larger battery.

You heard that right, Apple’s priciest models are reverting to aluminum instead of the titanium of yesteryear. Aluminum handles heat better and is cheaper and lighter, not to mention a better carbon footprint (it’s 100 percent recycled aluminum). Now the only titanium model in the company’s lineup is the iPhone Air. You’d think this would bring a price drop, but alas.

Apple is also debuting a vapor chamber cooling system on these phones, helping them keep cool under load. This is something Android phones have used for years, so it’ll be interesting to see how it impacts performance across the board, whether you’re shooting 4K video or playing a graphically demanding game.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle studio MachineGames may right now have its focus on the whip-wielding professor, but it hasn’t forgotten its Wolfenstein heritage. In fact, in the words of studio head Jerk Gustafsson, the team would like to work on a New Colossus sequel.

As part of a recent ‘The Making of Wolfenstein’ documentary by Noclip, Gustafsson said MachineGames had always pictured a trilogy of Wolfenstein games to wrap up the story of BJ, or to give him his proper title – Terror-Billy, the scourge of the Nazi empire.

“That journey for BJ, even during those first weeks at id, when we mapped out New Order, we still had the plan for at least [BJ], what would happen in the second one and what would happen in the third one,” the developer said (thanks, PC Gamer).

“I think that’s important to say, because – at least I hope – we’re not done with Wolfenstein yet.

“We have a story to tell.”

The first season of The Last of Us was nominated for 24 Emmys. It went on to win eight, including Outstanding Guest Actor for Nick Offerman’s portrayal of Bill.

The second season wrapped earlier this year, with a third season already confirmed to be in the pipeline. Back in July of this year, The Last of Us video game creator Neil Druckmann announced he was stepping away from his creative involvement in HBO’s TV adaptation, calling this a “difficult decision”.

Amazon MGM Studios developing Life Is Strange TV series

Amazon MGM Studios has greenlit a live-action adaptation of Life Is Strange for Prime Video.

The series will be written by Charlie Covell, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. Covell is known for writing The End of the F***ing World for Channel 4 and creating Netflix’s Kaos.

Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson from Story Kitchen are on board as executive producers. Story Kitchen will also produce the series alongside LuckyChap, Square Enix, and Amazon MGM Studios.

“It’s a huge honour to be adapting Life Is Strange,” said Covell. “I am a massive fan of the game, and I’m thrilled to be working with the incredible teams at Square Enix, Story Kitchen, and LuckyChap.

“I can’t wait to share Max and Chloe’s story with fellow players and new audiences alike.”

Amazon MGM Studios head of US SVOD TV and development Nick Pepper added: “We’re so excited for our global Prime Video customers to experience the dynamic world of Life Is Strange. The series is in the wonderful hands of Charlie Covell who has crafted a deeply captivating story based on the iconic video game.

“Charlie, and their fantastic collaborators at LuckyChap, Story Kitchen, and Square Enix, are the perfect team to deliver a monumental adaptation that will captivate […] audiences.”

A television adaptation of Life Is Strange has been in the cards for a long time, with Legendary Television initially attached to produce as noted by Variety.

“For years we’ve had so many people asking us to create a Life Is Strange TV show,” said Square Enix studio heads Jon Brooke and Lee Singleton.

“We’re so pleased to finally partner with Amazon MGM Studios who we trust will do an incredible job bringing our universe to life.”

Created by Don’t Nod Entertainment and published by Square Enix, Life Is Strange debuted in 2015. Deck Nine developed a prequel, Life Is Strange: Before the Storm in 2017.

Don’t Nod developed Life Is Strange 2 and The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit between 2018 and 2019, before the studio sold the franchise IP to Square Enix.

Deck Nine continued developing the series with Life Is Strange: True Colours in 2021 and Life Is Strange: Double Exposure in 2024.
