Tony Gilroy Is Very Sad at How Relevant ‘Andor’ Has Become

by admin August 21, 2025

When Tony Gilroy began his Andor journey, his original pitch was deemed “pretty mad and undoable” by Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the showrunner revealed how that initial take would later get revisited after Lucasfilm gave it some thought.

“They came back to me and said, ‘We looked at this memo from a year and a half ago, and it makes a lot more sense to us now,’” he recalled. That, of course, led to a series expanding on the very foundation that Star Wars creator George Lucas had in mind when he began the beloved saga: Space Nazis are bad, and the rebellion is coming.

Around the time award nominations were announced for the show’s critically acclaimed second season, real-world headlines eerily mirrored events seen in Andor. In particular, a scene in the Emmy-nominated episode “Welcome to the Rebellion,” which depicts a Ghorman senator being carted off by stormtroopers as he says, “My people today and yours tomorrow; remember Ghorman!” struck a very timely nerve.

It’s a devastating series of events that’s not lost on Gilroy. “When I started on the show, the parallels between what was happening in the world and what was happening in the galaxy and the Empire—those were already obvious.” He explained that his inspiration came from a love of history and using that to embed the seeds of how totalitarianism has taken root in Star Wars.

“But over the six years we’ve been doing the show, that little monster got on its feet and learned how to run,” he said. “When [U.S. Senator for California Alex Padilla] was pulled out of the ICE meeting, like in the episode about the Ghorman senator being pulled out, there was a big text chain in our group like, ‘Oh my God. It looked like the show.’ It’s very sad for us how much it rhymes.”

While we continue to live in unprecedented times, the filmmaker notes that Andor feels like something he can’t see himself doing again. It’s disappointing, but as the state of the entertainment industry continues to evolve, it makes sense.

“For five and a half years, every single day of my life, I had a maximally imaginative involvement that was never complete—writing, designing, music, casting, all of it,” Gilroy said of the pandemic-era-born production. “Every demand on your imagination that could ever be asked was screaming for your attention. That’s a pretty heady place to live. I grew to love it. But I can’t imagine that I would ever be that fully engaged again,” he concluded, but we hold out hope the vast galaxy makes space for his return; we need these stories now more than ever.

I’m sad the Battlefield 6 beta is over, but this 2042 event keeps the party going even if the cool kids have already gone home

by admin August 18, 2025

Battlefield 6 has run its last open beta. This, obviously, is a tragedy. How else am I meant to spend my weekends? Where else can I drive around with four loads of C4 strapped to the boot, or engage in high-flying aerial duels? Well, there’s always Battlefield 2042.

But why go back? Well, it seems as though EA understands a widespread longing may have been on the cards with Battlefield 6’s absence, and has therefore introduced a limited-time event to the older title to keep folks engaged for the next few months. A celebration of sorts for 2042 before everyone leaps off towards greener pastures.

This new Battlefield 2042 update – which is straight up titled the “Road to Battlefield 6” update – includes a free battle pass full of little goodies, a revamp of the Iwo Jima map, and some prizes for those looking to jump into Battlefield 6 come October. Some of those battle pass rewards I mentioned earlier carry over, making 2042 a must-play for early-onset completionists.

Check out the Road to Battlefield update hereWatch on YouTube

It’s a clever ploy, offering permanent rewards for the new game. EA did it too for the Battlefield 6 beta, offering various cosmetics for hitting career levels or finishing challenges. It’s not like the Beta needed any help, but it surely would have brought folks back for the second beta even if they likely were fulfilled on the first beta alone. Battlefield 2042 offering such rewards will inevitably push those who never played the game – or maybe touched it only briefly – back into the fray.

Is this taking advantage of people’s FOMO? The voice in their heads that demands they need everything? Yeah absolutely, and as a former WoW mount collector that can be a real burden, but it’ll also inject a lot of life into Battlefield 2042 in its sunset period. For people who have stuck with Battlefield 2042 through thick and thin it’ll be like one last hurrah, and for Battlefield 6 refugees it’ll be a cool way of passing the time.

It does also help that Battlefield 2042 is a lot better now than it used to be. After years of updates, tweaks and changes, it’s really come into its own as of late. While a sizable number of players who’ll jump into Battlefield 2042 for its Road to Battlefield 6 event will be fair weather friends, there for a good time and not a long time, it may very well do wonders in remedying popular sentiment around the game that lingers from its troubled launch.

There have been some pretty cool crossovers in 2042, you’ve got to admit. | Image credit: EA

So yeah I’ll hop back into Battlefield 2042 – I too haven’t really touched it since its release. I’ll try out the new KFS2000, I’ll squad up with some friends, and hey, maybe I will crash some helicopters into people. The Battlefield 6 rewards are nice and I’ll take great joy in showing them off come October.

But honestly? I just think it’s a nice curtain call for a game that’ll inevitably be left largely behind when Battlefield 6 comes along. I do hope that for many people, it’ll leave a fond final memory of 2042 before the game is memory holed and thrown down the same well Hardline lives in.

‘So Sad’: The Trump and Musk Break-Up, Tweet by Tweet

by admin June 6, 2025

Elon Musk and President Donald Trump are no longer besties.

Everyone knew the brofest between the Richest Man in the World and the Most Powerful Man in the World was never going to end well. And that makes it all the more awe-inspiring when it finally ends—not with a bang, but with a fusillade of nasty shitposts.

So pull up your chair, and enjoy the antics of America’s Finest.

Most of us can remember the lovely sendoff President Trump gave the celebrated sperm donor Elon Musk (cue Green Day) on May 30:

But storm clouds had clearly gathered.  Trump’s warm hand clasp was probably still a-tingle a few days later on Musk’s skin when he typed out his first banger, criticizing his former pal’s big beautiful bill as a “disgusting abomination.”

I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore.

This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.

Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 3, 2025

Oh, dear. Never one to turn the other cheek, President Trump began Thursday with a few remarks about how disappointed he was in Elon.

Trump even pointed out that he’d have won Pennsylvania in the general election had it not been for Musk, and that “Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore.”

President Trump on Elon Musk: “I’ve always liked Elon. I was very surprised…He hasn’t said anything about me that’s bad. I’d rather have him criticize me than the bill because the bill is incredible…I’m very disappointed in Elon. I’ve helped Elon a lot.” pic.twitter.com/ExnBTnYGuw

— CSPAN (@cspan) June 5, 2025

Then the president escalated the Tirade War by issuing a veiled threat…

Trump: The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. – $TSLA pic.twitter.com/uSRVoZ5oSL

— Hardik Shah (@AIStockSavvy) June 5, 2025

…and confiding to the world that Elon was giving him the ick:

Oh, yeah? Well Musk isn’t going to be fired, he quit!

And then Musk drops the “really big bomb” on Trump:

Time to drop the really big bomb:@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.

Have a nice day, DJT!

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 5, 2025

Wait, what?

Now he’s really hitting below the belt.

Space Marine 2 is getting cosmetics for sad space vampires and cool bikers, as well as an endless PvE Siege mode

by admin May 23, 2025

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 got a chunky announcement during today’s Warhammer Skulls event. Siege Mode, an endless PvE mission type, will be added to the game across all platforms for free on June 26. The pefect option for those wanting to take on the horde.

In addition, Focus Entertainment revealed that two new cosmetic DLCs will be coming to Space Marine 2 for both the Blood Angels and White Scars Astartes chapters. Blood Angels are sad vampires who miss their dad, and occasionally put on slick golden armour when not being chewed on by Tyranids. White Scars are lovable speed freaks who also has their fair share of father issues, as he drove his motorbike into the Webway for milk 10,000 years ago and never came back. Both cool!

Siege Mode is a standard 3v3 game mode like other operations you can play right now in game, though thats where the simularities end. In it, you’ll be able to fend off increasingly difficult waves of Tyranids and Chaos until you and your squad inevitably die. Think Gears of Wars’ Horde Mode for a close comparison, which it’s safe to say is a darn fun way to engage with 3rd person action shooters.

Space Marine 2 has grown into quite the treasure, huh? It was already dope when it launched last year, and since then has only been getting better thanks to various free updates and fanservicy cosmetic packs. It even has achievement-like Ordeals that lets you unlock special skins and loads of free customization options, so all in all a great game to pick up.

Let us know if you’re excited for Siege Mode below!
